Kenny Florian: UFC 107 was my night
Props: Boston.com
Quoteworthy:
"[It] was my night. Clay Guida is a phenomenal fighter. I wanted to go out there and take my time. Peter Welch and Firas Zahabi really improved my striking. I’m trying to get better, I want another shot at the title. I wanted to get in there and trade a little bit and put on a good show for the fans, and really implement my game. I wanted to be aggressive and get back to being the Kenny Florian that people know me for. That was kind of the theme for this fight. It was an elbow that really cut him very bad inside. The key really was mixing it up on Clay. I was able to do that and I caught him with a nice elbow that cut him open and rocked him, and the finisher was a strike that set up the big right hook. It was a short right hook that caught him right on the button. He went face-first into the canvas and I knew it was my time to capitalize."
Two-time lightweight number one contender Kenny Florian sounds off on his dominating performance against the scrappy Clay Guida at UFC 107: "Penn vs. Sanchez" from the FedEx Forum last Saturday night (Dec. 12) in Memphis, Tennessee. Florian was a bit tentative in the opening minutes but soon found his rhythm and outclassed "The Carpenter" on his feet and on the ground where he secured the submission finish. "KenFlo" is already at the top of the division, so where does he go from here? Edgar? Sanchez? Bueller?

Didi anyone else notice Guida belching?
when they checked his cut?
I don’t care what anybody says about l’n’p… Guida is crazy like a caveman and I like to watch him fight.
Ken Flo totally schooled him though. that punch must have been HARD, guida is usually really good at absorbing punishment.
In the name of the Fedor, the Anderson and the GSP, Amen.

I LOVED THE BURP!!!!
When the doc was checking out his cuts, he makes this strange gas face, and then lets out a caveman style burp. I bet the fans in the mezzanine level heard it at the arena! I was laughing hard when I saw that.
If any two fighter would do such a thing, I would bet on The Caveman or Belcher.
Good luck!
You’re a good fighter! BJ is gonna embarrass you, Mr. Florian! Advice: wait for him to retire or move to 170!

Like he got a better shot at beating GSP?
He couldn’t even do a thing against Sherk accept cut him cuz he couldn’t stop the takedown. How would he stop GSP’s takedowns.
Kenny's improved his TD defense
I think that’s what was pretty evident last night. The biggest hole in Kenny’s game until now was his takedown defense and wrestling. You can see what training with GSP has done for him. He did a great job at stuffing Guida’s takedowns and keeping distance from him. He even took Guida down a couple of times which was a shock. The move to Tristar was a great move for Kenny and I hope gets to fight Edgar next.

Sorry VM!
What I mean is for Florian to wait for BJ to move to 170! I see how I wasn’t clear, though.

Tiger Woods analogy...
Fighting in the Light Weight division must be like golfing on the PGA Tour. You may be a very good athlete, but there’s always someone at the top of the class who’s going to best you. Golfers can’t get past Tiger (recent troubles not withstanding) and nobody, repeat nobody, in the Light Weighyt division is going to beat BJ Penn.
Kenny is both a very good fighter and TV commentator/analyst. He’ll never best BJ, but he’ll have a very nice career.

Good performance
Hopefully he will put on a better one with BJ when they next fight. I doubt he will try his wear him down technique again. His brothers shouting is so f’cking annoying.
the shouting is the worst thing abuot Kenflo fights
Does anyone else think that Kenflo should swap places with Ben Stiller for a week and see if people notice?

Kenflo vs Edgar or Sanchez would be great
People want to give Edgar a title shot, but he’s behind Maynard, IMO. Let Edgar fight Kenflo, and if he can get by him, then you can talk about a title shot. I also think Sanchez would be a great matchup and would tell us if Kenny really is “new and improved”.

Yes
It was nice to see that neanderthal get choked out. I’m tired of his fidgety style and his hair flopping everywhere.
