Obviously

Until then, keep him on the undercard… as someone on here said, he is the human sedative!

by PHISH NATION on Dec 13, 2009 6:24 PM EST up reply actions

I said that

And that piece of crap has no business being on a main card again until he can successfully finish three consecutive opponents. Until then, he should be the opening fight on the card so the people who come in a little late don’t miss anything.

Harsh but true

I and love fitch. :(
He shouldn’t be on the undercard, but opening fight is a good spot for him.

Give the guy credit

Fitch has fought some tough opponents and Pierce was more game than I thought he would be.

When you take a guy’s back every round, you should be able to do more than just sit on it.

WORD

Fitch is soooo slow and boring

by dazzlebreath on Dec 13, 2009 9:29 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed give him some credit

Yeah, he’s not exciting but he sure put his ass on the line with this fight by working on his standup and he almost got KO’d for it. I respect Fitch and as long as he keeps winning and beats the best, he deserves more chances to put it on the line to try to make it an exciting fight…he’ll probably take another beating and might get KO’d for it, but I like his recent effort.

Hopefully

He’s not on the main card next time.

Touch As Nails Needs to be more aggressive

I am a big fan of Fitch. I am especially excited to see his new film when available to the public, especially after Joe Rogan giving it a rave review. However, not only does he need to finish fights, but he needs to be more aggressive doing so. Fitch has always prided himself on being tough as nails, and grinding people out. Well its time he put some aggression behind it, and start going for the kill, even if it means putting his own neck out their a bit…. otherwise he will never get a second chance at GSP, after GSP just dominated him

by RochardMMA on Dec 13, 2009 7:12 PM EST reply actions

Absolutely

Your post says it all. He is not proactive enough offensively, but it is not like he isn’t able. He almost lost last night. It was much closer than people think and , he took more damage than pierce.

Touch as Nails?

Subject Heading: ‘Touch as Nails’?
ru referring to Fitch’s Huggy Bear ‘can do attitude’ meaning he’s gay? Or is there more to u and the ‘I am a big fan of Fitch’ comment?

....

boring ass fighter….

unimpressing

not only is Fitch a boring fighter but that wasn’t a terribly convincing win. His boxing is really bad, I don’t think he could knock out anyone in the UFC at this point. He reminds me of a smaller Forrest Griffin- bad striking but good chin & heart can only get you so far.

by kibbled_bits on Dec 13, 2009 7:52 PM EST reply actions

don’t lay in on him too much. his record is impressive considering he doesn’t have speed or knockout power. he should work on his ground game more to finish fights that way

Really...

Boring performance, I was quite disappointed by Fitch.

by oskarbravo on Dec 13, 2009 8:31 PM EST reply actions

the problem is that no one..

…can beat the guy…if gsp cant finish him no one can…until he loses he’ll always be the top contender…hes already beaten alves…gsp said hes the toughest opponent hes ever faced….boring fighters lose their appeal once they get beaten…once they no longer are a contender or a factor..but no matter who they throw at this guy he beats them…yea its ugly as hell…but he always wins…

yes i agree hes one of the most boring fighters on the planet…it was by far the biggest snoozefest on the card last night…but until someone beats him he will still be the number 2 guy in the division…and regardless of how boring and how terrible it is to see him fight and how its the only time i actually go take a piss when a fight comes on until he loses hes the number 1 contender and we’re just gonna have to deal with it…

EVERY SINGLE GUY besides gsp that hes fought hes beaten….and not even gsp could finish the guy…he can take a hell of a beating and hes gonna always be in the fight..

the only way hes gonna be knocked out of that number 1 gatekeeper spot is to fight koscheck….he needs someone to neutralize his wrestling and besides gsp kos is the only guy who can do it…but that fight isnt gonna happen

jake shields is the highest ranked fighter to have never fought i highly ranked fighter...i cant wait till hendo signs to strikeforce and murders that talentless waste of flesh..

i know i should have put an "a" instead of an "i" between the words "fought" and "highly" above..but i aint changing it, cause thats how gangsta i am

by HellaHectic on Dec 13, 2009 8:31 PM EST reply actions

That may be

But people who either pay for an event or patronize a public place that pays for an event shouldn’t be subjected to watching his relentless humping.

lackluster performance P-Dub?

Ru u sure that’s an accurate description of his fight last night? Or the relentless ravings of a I-HATE-FITCH Mania. He’s been a boring fighter until he took a beating by GSP,,, that was pretty exciting, because it forced action on Fitch and he couldn’t/wouldn’t quit… if u asked GSP if Fitch isn’t a deserving opponent what do u think he would say?… prob’ ’it’s what ever the UFC decides’’… lol… but u know my point right?? Anyway, that fight was not that boring, there were some stellar matchups and then Fitch fought a NO Name and it got boring before it started… but a hellva’ an addition to the UFC. If that NoName MIKE PIERCE was a SOMEBODY, that fight would’ve been more exciting… yeah I know, Fitch still won by wrestling but he mixed it up decently and took his chances on his feet for a good amount of time and Pierce couldn’t finish the unfinishable. We’ll find out who Mike Pierce is, so far he is 1 of the 2 guys that gave Brock Larson his walking papers and took ‘Top 5’ John Fitch to the edge of KO. I wanna see Pierce fight again.. we’ll see if he’s the real deal or a future UFC washout. I think he’s gonna’ be solid.

Fitch isnt number 2 anymore

number 2 my ass!!!! he wont fight Koscheck but acts like he is the no 2 all the time. he is arrogant. Hardy or Daley need to get in more fights and just destroy there 3 sum. If Hardy fought Fitch then Fitch would get ko’d

WANDY RIP

Swick couldn't take his shots

Every punch Hardy threw had Swick rocked, he would have gotten the KO if they didn’t clinch with each other everytime that Swick was on wobbly legs. That was poor technique not power. Fitch was wobbling badly against Pierce by the end of the fight, imagine if a hard hitting striker with proper technique like Hardy or Semtex caught Fitch, he’d be all over the place. And who has no chin, Hardy? I haven’t seen any sign of Dan being a chinny fighter.

Doubt it

Again, if Fitch hasn’t been knocked out yet, Hardy wouldn’t be able to get it done either. Fitch used to be a favourite of mine as well but lately he’s putting everyone to sleep….litterally.

I agree – keep him on the undercard.

by hairybumcrack on Dec 13, 2009 9:25 PM EST reply actions

we need an AKA Thunder Dome

3 men enter 1 man leaves…. then feed the winner to Alves

Also i reckon Daley has much greater Knock out Power than hardy, and if he connected on fitches chin imo 8 outta 10 times could prob knock him out!

Every night i would pray to God for a new bike, then i realized God does not work that way, so i stole one and asked him to forgive me

Hardy has the power as well

Semtex is better at utilising the power in his strikes, he’s a more clinical finisher. Dan had Swick done a few times but relied on the clinch and takedowns instead of finishing the job, he also had Davis hurt badly as well. Semtex is the more technical and deadly striker, if he has someone hurt then they’re going to get KO’d. Hardy needs to work on finishing opponents once they’re hurt, he has the potential to be one of the most dangerous strikers in the division if he can finish the job once he rocks his opponent.

As for Daley-Fitch, if Paul got the chance to trade punches with Jon he’d have him finished, Pierce is not known for his striking and had Fitch badly hurt at the end, he may have taken GSP’s best shots but I believe that Daley would be able to finish the job if he had Fitch in trouble.

Fitch on undercard

For someone with so much heart I hate to see him on the undercard. He is being realistic about his place in the division though. Put him on the undercard and when he gets a stoppage then slide him into the broadcast. Looked to me like he tried to finish so I give him props.

He may not be putting opponents to sleep! But, it sounds like he IS putting fans to sleep!
