i haven't see the interview and don't intend to but can i assume his usual smug prickness?

You assume right.
Anyone that thinks they are ready for Lesnar with a win over Kongo is nuts.
@fjbar75 on twitter...formerly El Mexicutioner
say what?
Mir seems to be on the right track in my opinion. He needs the weight to neutralize Lesnar’s size. He’s got more skills than Lesnar, just doesn’t have the size and speed. So, if he can get there with this new training regiment, I give him a good shot at beating Lesnar. He’s fought him twice, which is an advantage in itself.
Mir hate unjustified
I’m always reading comments talking sh*t about Frank Mir’s abilities and maybe it’s just people disliking his brash personality, but i think he’s one scary dude.
The guy is buck-wild, recently having to cut weight to make the 265 lb. limit and looking jacked while doing it. He handled a rampaging, albeit green, man beast that is Brock Lesnar, he stopped the unstoppable Nogeiura, and basically knocked out supposedly one of the best heavyweight strikers.
Being jacked-diesel at 265, extremely skilled both on the ground and standing up, with unflappable confidence makes for one dangerous individual.
Give the guy his props if not for anything more than his ability to win fights.
Mir still is way too cocky
He beat a sick Nog and did not knockout Kongo. He knocked him down and submitted him. I’d actually like to see the new Mir fight a healthy Nog or even see if he can last 2 rounds with all that added weight. Kongo was never in the picture for being a contender so I’m not sure how much this fight gets him closer to another shot at Brock.

Dude, I dislike Frank as much as the next man
but you can’t let that hate cloud your judgement, whatever you wanna say about Frank, he stepped in with one of, if not the best striker in the HW division and put him on his backside with one punch. Then finished with ease. You make an interesting point about endurance with all that muscle, but his frame looked to hold it pretty naturally, dude put on 20+lbs and he still doesn’t look too big. I thought he was going to lose, but Frank answered every question I had for him on Saturday, and he made it look easy.
In the name of the Fedor, the Anderson and the GSP, Amen.
I underestimated the deadly skills of one of the greatest HWs in the world, Frank Mir. I wrote that because I lost a bet but honestly, he really did impress me. I'm well on the Frank wagon

He's got real HW power, I'll admit that.
and his subs are better than almost all UFC HW’s so he knows how to finish a fight if he gets the oppurtunity. Although i think the biggest part of his improvement as a fighter is his physique, puttting on that much weight in a couple of months and still looking the same is a bit weird.
RoBerto
Definitely a little on the unatural side, but it’s probably like 4 mths… he’s a big guy so putting on 20 lbs of muscle is definitely within his range if done properly…but it’s on the unusual side of reasonable.
4 months is nothing. you can’t put on 20 lbs of muscle in that time, but you can definitely gain weight which is why it was a bit weird that he looked pretty much the same as always except being a little more fit maybe.
Yet my boy Megareem is the supposed roider
He did it in three years. You guys kill me.

Well said SFK! I like the picture too
Mir was always a gifted fighter now that he is dedicated and focused like he should be in training he is threat to any HW in the world. Mir was always a very talented fighter that was starting to f^ck up his career and family with his drinking problem now that he’s cleaned up his act he is showing what he was always cabable of doing. A 265 pound Mir is a scary thing for any HW.
I agree
but, in my defence, I had no idea that Frank was going to weigh 265 mo fo’ing pounds! had I known that his punches would have 265lbs behind them, then maybe I wouldn’t have been as harsh on his stand up. but fair play to you for calling the fight.
I wanna see Frank vs. Nog 2!!!

For sure SPK
Frank is a beast now but you can never count out NOG i would love to see that fight! I would pick Mir but not be as confident as I was against Kongo. The punch he dropped NOG with last time was similar so you know there is power behind Mirs strikes wich makes him a deadly threat to anyone and most fighters will not want to take Mir to the ground, he’s the complet package now and improving! I was trying to tell you man I was little worried though as Kongo is a great ground striker and if he was able to slip out of the choke could of landed some strikes right away. I with out a doubt didn’t want to be wishing he was my man LOL.
Funny as that would've been!
Anyway, the next fight I’m having trouble calling is Rashad and Thiago, I think that Rashad has, on the whole, fought and beat a better quality of fighter, but the fact that Thiago is less experienced doesn’t mean he isn’t as good a fighter, plus Rashad hasn’t fought since May! that’s a hell of a long time to go without a fight. However Rashad has Greg Jackson, probably the best tactition in the game, on his side plus I have no idea what he’s been up to all of this time, aside from making TUF 10 who knows what or who he’s been working with, but Thiago is an excellent striker and a black belt in BJJ and is always dangerous, Rashad is very quick and if he can utilize that with some decent counter punching and a couple of decent takedowns then he could take a decision or even finish it. However Thiago can be a beast and a technically gifted one at that and has momentum on his side coming from a win over Jardine (Rashads team mate). So to be honest I think that there are way to many factors to consider making a bet on this one. but I’m leaning towards a close decision.

It's a close one Thiago and Evans both can end the fight with one punch
and both have only lost too Machida by KO. It’s a great match up one i can’t pick either but if I have to pick one I’m picking Evans so when Rampage comes back it will have that much more meaning other than that I’m hoping for a great fight as this card was hurt by the injury bug.
Thiago is a pretty big underdog currently,
If you think this fight is too even to make a bet, put some money on T Silva, he’s a +175 right now. I think that line will close up a bit come fight time but right now it’s pretty good money seeing as most of us think this is a pretty even match up.

Mir's Problem...
The issue I have with Mir is that he talked so bad about Brock’s brash and disrespectful personality and now he is doing the same thing. Since getting into a war of words with Brock he has been running his mouth in the very same style. There was no reason for him to bash Kongo personally the way he did. Kongo is an extremely respectful fighter and Mir crapped on him every chance he got. He has become and is coming across as the same disgusting meat head that he critisized Brock for being. I hope he gets the rematch with Brock and once again ends up with the same elephant man look that he displayed after both of the previous fights. He still also has to give Big Nog a chance at redemption and I don’t think the second meeting will end the same as the first. I don’t understand how he caught Kongo with that overhand left that way. Everyone I was watching the fight with all screamed at the same time before he even let the punch go. He telegraphed that punch the whole way. Mir was obviously in Kongo’s head. I do not think he will get inside Brocks or Nog’s head. He needs to be humbled again and real soon. I used to have a bit of respect for Mir but this new BS attitude he has, is crap….
Mir didn't bash Kongo personally
He said his game was weak. I remember how Frank said sometime around the 1st or 2nd Brock fight that the “bad boys” were the one’s making money in the sport, and he’s right about that. so i guess now he’s trying to make a name for himself by being like that and it’s working, as i couldn’t wait for this fight hoping to see him get his face reconstructed by Kongo as i hate Frank and think he’s always been one of the most overhyped fighters by the UFC!
Mir and alot of fans....
had a problem with Brock screaming in Mir’s face when the fight was over, that was the issue, before a fight anything goes but afterwards you should display respect which Brock didn’t do
I think Mir is finally showing he's for real....
I was the first to criticize before but he has impressed me and respect where respect is due. He seems to believe in himself more than ever now and maybe the beatdown he took in the final moments of the Broc fight has unleashed a new improved, hungrier Frank Mir.
I"m no Ned Flanders punk!!
haha..
I don’t know but you can see him in the background there. He got his ass whooped. If that was 2 more rounds he would have lost.

Mir Impressed me
I havent been that impressed by Mir since he snapped Tim Sylvia’s arm. Mir is back, I never thought I’d see him back again like this, but here he is. He’s such an arrogant tool’ but I like his comeback story… I was hoping Kongo would TKO Mir… but I guess we have to listen to him run his mouth for awhile… MIR VS NOG II for the interim Heavyweight Belt!
nobody is forcing you to watch mirs interviews
just a thought but there are a lot of people giving credit for his ability but complaining about having to watch / hear mir run his mouth etc.. have you ever considered just watching mir fight? the only time he runs his mouth is in the buildup, in online interviews and radio shows etc that YOU have searched out and decided to watch. how about just dont watch his videos in the buildup…. problem solved. you must realise he is only hyping up his fight and not always expressing his real opinions – or do you want every fighter to be boring like gsp
you lot must realise this so i can only think that you tune in to him just to have something to bitch whine and moan about.
is that the case?
GSP is boring?

The case is Ziiiiing = knucklehead
I watch n’ listen to all of MMA… I don’t pick n’ choose, if his interview comes on this thread I’ll listen n’ give n’ honest opinion…. if u can’t handle an honest opinion on this thread maybe u should choose not to read my comment…. and therefore pick n’ choose all comments that have only good things to say about Mir. Afterall, this site is about discussion right?….. and if you think Mir is just hyping a fight and that’s not his real personality, u’ve got to be kidding…right?
I agree on all ends
and Mir is only 27….. Mir should face the winner of Cain vs Nog, Carwin vs winner JDS vs Gilbert
GSP is boring?
ok fat kid…. please tell me you understand the context of the comment…. with a focus on fight interviews and hyping up a fight GSP is indeed boring… very very boring. He pretty much just answers the questions in the shortest way and says the same thing over and over. fedor is also extremely boring in interviews (see recent mmamania effort) and Anderson Silva coud be added to that list aswell as a bunch of others. i like that mir stirs the pot, and hes a good fighter and a cool guy.
if you read my comment and concluded that i was saying GSP is a boring fighter then you have a primary school level of comprehension.
I find
that GSP actually gives analysis as to what strengths/weaknesses will come into play and how he thinks he will win etc. and I personally would rather hear that, than some meatheaded BS about how they’re the best or how the other guy is ugly or whatever sh*t fighters like Frank tend to come out with.
Also I never said you called GSP a boring fighter and I’d like to know why you’re always so obnoxious? You take criticism of your comments way to personally.

Difference with Build up and mma....
It is not the WWE and it is not boxing. Mixed martial artists have always been a different class of fighters. That is what the draw was and still is for a lot of people. You don’t need the hype. They are professional and have more of a martial arts respect for the competitor. Granted every now and again there maybe legit bad blood between two fighters that may cause some crap talk, but mma has normally always been better then that. If I wanted bullshit hype and smack talk I will watch Monday night Raw or boxing, with their shameless self-promotions and claims to greatness. The sport doesn’t need that. Tito Ortiz is prime example. The guy has not accomplished anything in 5 years yet he is always talking about how great he is or talking trash about his next opponent or Chuck Liddell(who schooled him 2 times). Who needs that? Yeah maybe it is his only way of keeping relevant since beating Ken Shamrock for 2 more wins is out of the question, but the average educated mma fan doesn’t want or need to hear it.
you don't need the hype?
Dude, be realisctic here. don’t come with the mixed martial arts spirit crap and another class of fighters, they fight because they like to fight and make money. The whole UFC is a hype machine that would not exist if it wasn’t for all the hype they’re creating, most fighters wants to get paid and have also found out (if they’re not stupid) that building up hype around your fights is the way to roll, if that wasn’t the purpose then why would they be interviewed about their upcoming fights all the time, that’s how it works bro, media controls everything! Saying things like Mir does is cool, you should always speak your mind and say whatever you feel like saying, I would probably go on to say that i’m going to kill my opponent in the octagon and that he’s a piece of sh!t , it’s a fight with a lot on the line, trying to get into your opponents head is a part of the game.
I'm a hell of alot more than an average educated mma fan btw.
I enjoy it and need it to get excited to see one of the guys get laid out and compete against eachother. I bet you’re favorite fighter is Jon Fitch, no entertainment no nothing, atleast GSP knows how to give good fights, if he wasn’t the worlds best few ppl would care for him.
I know you are an educated fan I have been posting here since the UFCMania days and know that you have been around just as long. Funny your way of arguing on mania most of the time is by getting personal with the person who is giving their opinion. Makes me wonder how much like the fighters I am talking about you must be like personally…. Look at my profile and you will see who my favorite fighters are. Don’t draw dumb conclusions because you don’t like what I say.As a matter of fact one of and probably my favorite fighters is BJ Penn and he is a shit talker…Do I like the way he acts no. Do I need him to talk 2 months of smack to watch him fight now. I could be a daf dumb mute, and just love what he does in the cage.
So Couture and Liddell made there money how? They have always been quite? The only loud mouth to draw real numbers is Tito, oh and Brock. Tito has to do it now more so then ever because he is irrelevant in a sport that he helped popularize. GSP, Anderson, Randy, Liddell, MAchida, and so forth all draw huge numbers without acting like assholes. Mir has gone the low road. It is one thing to say you are going to beat your opponent, it is another thing to just plain shit on them. Mir bashed BRock for his WWE ways and then turns around and acts the same way. There is nothing cool about being a total and complete hypocrite. The UFC is the promotinal company, of course they are the hype machine. They have to be, that being said the fighters do not have to be. Fighters have done interviews for the better of 20 years now without acting like WWE fools and over glorified boxers. There is and always has been a huge difference. It is obvious and it is what has always seperated the professionalism in mma from boxing and wwe. Loving to fight and getting paid to do so does not force you to act like an asshole. Tito acts like an asshole because far and wide he is. Brck acts like a meathead because that is what he is. Randy Couture, GSP, Anderson Silva act profesional because they are….
im not trying to disrespect you monkey but your post has a few holes in it – firstly it could be argued that chuck and randy made their biggest ppv draws when they fought Tito and his sh!t talking played a big part in that. The other big PPV Randy did was when he fought Brock the sh!t talking giant.
Anderson and Machida dont draw huge numbers, sorry but they just don’t. They are 2 of the best fighters to ever exist but its their lack of personality that lets them down.
GSP is just a stud and everyone loves him but I do miss the old GSP who wasnt impressed with Matt Hughes, hes become a little boring now.
There 2 biggest paydays may have been against loud mouths, but my point was that either way they continualy sold huge ppvs and filled arenas. You can do a good interview and hype a fight without disrespecting your opponent ie. Forrest Griffen. Always does great interviews and does not disrespect his opponent. Rich Franklin was another one. Always had good numbers, great interviews and never trash talked. I don’t know I guess I just see it from a different perspective….Either way thanks for keeping the argument interesting!
stop mentioning WWE.
Nobody likes to watch that crap. and it just makes you look bitter bringing it up all the time. I don’t have a problem with guys like GSP, Anderson Silva and all other great fighters, just because of the fact that they are the best and you’ll always watch the best fight, but it doesn’t change the fact that they are boring individuals who would get lost in the crowd if they weren’t so good, the UFC handles all the hype for fighters like Liddell, Couture, GSP, Anderson, Machida. Fighters like Mir, Ortiz, Rampage, Rashad, Diego, likes to do it on their own and to actually stand out and become somebody that’s what you gotta do. I couldn’t even imagine how big of a superstar Anderson Silva would be if he had the personality of Tito Ortiz to go along with his skills.
As much that I would love to disagreed with you....
you’re absolutely right for saying that GSP, Fedor and AS give boring interviews most of the time. Frank Mir is not cool though, lol
ok so i dont follow the way of the samurai and am more of a David Abbott than a Machida in my approach to making friends, but so what, the world is so full of boring whiny self-righteous bitches that when a big bully comes along and starts running his mouth and chocking people out it puts a smile on my fice, Mir IS COOL – because he does his thing, his way and doesn’t give a f uk.
Best thing in MMA would be Fedor getting smacked around and choked unconscious by Mir. There would be a lake of tears from the Fedor nuthuggers and the rest of us would be laughing in our sleep.
Don't get me wrong ziiiiing...
It takes all types to make the world go round. For me I am opposite of you. Nothing makes me happier then to see the loud mouth get shut up b the quite fighter. I have always been the quite type though. I just don’t like that Mir trashed Brock for his way and now is acting the same way. Don’t critisize the meat head if that is your future path!
I hate Mir too.
It’s so nice to see him get destroyed after all of his talking.
“Nothing makes me happier then to see the loud mouth get shut up by* the quiet* fighter” so the conclusion is that you like to watch fights like that too. I knew it.
EWll at least we have that much in common Roberto! =)
I am sorry I just think it has no placei nit maybe I am old fashioned or whatever. I had wrestled a good portion of my young life, have been in martial arts for the better of 20 years, and have been taking bjj classes for the last 2. MAybe that is why I am big with the respect aspects of it. I mean wrestling was a bit different. Sure guys talked smack especially before big tornouments, but I never got into it and maybe that is my martial arts background. I just don’t see the need for it. Let your skill set do the talking. Either way it has been fun talking to you abou tthis…
I still think he is overrated
And beating Kongo hasn’t changed that. I give him credit for the win as I did not think he could pull it off, but as soon as the fight started and I saw how low down Kongos arms were, I thought this isn’t looking good. He brought that on himself. No K1 fighter has their head that exposed when they are fighting. It was a good win, but to me it just exposed the weakness of Kongos striking technique. If he continues to produce decent results against more skilled, HEALTHY, higher level opponents, then I will change my opinion of him. Lets see what happens next. I have no problem at all being proven wrong.
he didn't beat Kongo he destroyed Kongo Ade
Cain beat kongo by decision it’s one thing to expose another fighters weakness but having the power to knock down kongo in one punch on a brief opening is a huge threat to any fighter and Kongo is known for being one of the best. What other HW has better striking that Mir won’t be able to expose thats just a silly comment Ade.
