UFC Undisputed 2010 release date with Kimbo Slice and Forrest Griffin presenting

Undisputed-logo_medium

UFC Undisputed 2010, the sequel to the 2009 version of the popular mixed martial arts video game from THQ, will be unveiled tomorrow night (Dec. 12) at the Spike TV Video Game Awards (VGA) by special guest presenters Kimbo Slice and Forrest Griffin.

The release date for UFC Undisputed 2010 is tentatively scheduled for May 21, 2010, across Europe on PlayStation 3, X-Box 360 and PlayStation Portable (PSP), according to Electronic Theater. Expect a U.S. release to come on or around that same date.

UFC President Dana White first announced 'UFC Undisputed 2010' back in May, and it's not unreasonable to think that THQ has upped the ante in this new version in response to the pending debut of Electronic Arts "EA Sports MMA."

Competition breeds excellence and with two major publishers vying for a very specific market, the fans choice for their digitized butt-kicking could depend on just the slightest of variables.

Star-divide

Will average gamers gravitate towards the THQ sequel because of the UFC roster -- even if EA produces a superior product with lesser known fighters?

While it's too early to tell which publishing house will deliver the more realistic (and ultimately more enjoyable) game, it will be interesting to see how many gamers EA can snag without the UFC brand (though they do have the license to Randy Couture's likeness).

‘UFC Undisputed 2009′ was the first video game for the promotion since Ultimate Fighting Championship: "Sudden Impact" back in 2004 — five very long years. Fortunately for fans it won't take nearly as long for the sequel.

Look for more information and footage of in-game action at the Spike VGA's tomorrow night starting at 8 p.m. ET.

I didn’t like 2009 and I’m not about to spend $60 more to get 2010 just to have the things that 2009 should have had in it in the first place, like taking a UFC fighter through career mode.

They probably like better having Americans for the unveiling of the US version, buddy!

And it’s…pourquoi?

It's normal

I always thought that Spanish is a mix of French and English.

I agree for GSP, but that’s not the general American opinion. A lots of peps dislike him only b/c he speak French.

I bet gsp does somthing for the game

But i bet he promotes the game in canada instead of the usa

I can't wait to get this game

When I use Kimbo in this one, will he refuse to learn anything in training too?

Glad to be free from Intro's tyranny.

Yes,

but it won’t matter because as Kimbo you’ll only fight hand-picked tomato cans.

I think you missed the boat Natedogg

The main thing for 2009 was to get a good fighting system base, and I really feel they did that. Looking forward to 2010!

I have 2009, I played it a lot. That said, it sucks. But it certainly wasn’t bad for a first try at a genre and the online mode increases its replay value.

That said, EA is simply a far better company in terms of putting out dynamic sports games. THQ doesn’t have the budget or the programmers to pull much more off. I expect EA MMA to be a far superior game, but I don’t necessarily think it will outsell Undisputed. Ideally, EA crushes this and the UFC picks the game up. If you compare the quality of UFC Undisputed 2009 and FNR4, it’s no contest which is better. FNR4 seems like it was made 2 years later.

I really liked 2009, and Can not wait for 2010!

If this were not the “Who can Bitch the most about everything UFC” blog, then I’m sure people would be giving it the props it deserves. 2-3 years ago everyone on this blog was stoked about UFC and what a good job they have done with MMA, now everyone just wants to bitch. I say FU to the haters….x

by JRE on Dec 11, 2009 2:43 PM EST up reply actions

Actually, I was quite critical of the game when it came out as well. I’m not a hater; I’m just objective. The game is what it is; like I stated before, it was good for a first stab at a genre.

But the fact remains that EA makes better video games than THQ. It has nothing to do with the UFC. I just hope the EA game does better this year so that the UFC goes over to them.

EA

i think ea sports game will blow THQ’s out of the water. i wont be buying ufc 2010 unless the demo is awesome. i’m going to wait and see what ea comes up with! thank god for free demos

This is EA first time making a MMA game

For every good game EA makes they have ten horrible games even though most of there sports games are great their is no garantees, this is THQ’s second time and the first wasn’t too bad but has a great base just needs tons of tweeks and it will be killer. one thing that sucks in Fight night and Undisputed is the online lag. I enjoyed last years undisputed so I’m going to just buy this years and I’ll rent EA’s MMA before I buy it.

Both are terrible

"I’m in great shape...I feel 100% you know it’s nice to move my hips and not have any problems...I’ll take my loss as a man. I’m willing to die for my cause, are you?" Tito Ortiz before UFC 106

"I wasn’t able to spar at all...I had bulging disks...I want to see somebody fight with a cracked skull, I came in and stepped in with a cracked skull...why the fuck did you give that fight of the night?...for me not getting Fight of the Night I’m taken aback by it...I gave my heart and soul and to be robbed like that, yeah it is what it is." your sig is dumb.

the first quote was a while before the fight. the injury happened like less than a week before the fight in sparring he colided heads. obviously it was right before the fight thats why he STILL had a black eye going into the fight.

by AzCombat on Dec 12, 2009 12:30 AM EST up reply actions

David, I found a quote dumber than the one you got up as your sig

AzCombat sticking up for Tito. Tito has embedded people on Mania to make his excuses for him.

Glad to be free from Intro's tyranny.

nahh i’m just re-stating stuff the mmamania posted about the injury and black eye. i dont give a shit about tito i’m just telling the guy that he’s making himself sound dumb.

i mean if you hate tito so much why do you have your whole signature talking about him. i’m more about building up who am i fan of rather than wasting my time talking down about people i’m not a fan of.

ufc 2009

was and still IS amazing. i’ll be very intrested to see what improvments they make for 2010. the games representation of the stand up game could use some tweaking in the detial department. there should be less victories when the punch never even touched you, there should be more realistic movements (angling, feints, head movement, footwork), and it would also be cool to see more characters have more skills. They’re certain fighters that can do it all in real life, and that should be translated in the game more realistically. Also grappling could use a tune up. When someone shoots for a takedown you should be able to fight them off, the cage should be utilized (look at the vera/couture fight, as boring as the strategy was you would never be able to do that in UFC 09) and on the ground there should be more detail in the poition changes and submissions. Maybe if they utilize more of the controler on the ground they can get really specific.

Other than that i would just like to see the fighters be more acurate to there real life counterpart. Like Machida and Jardine for example…they clearly do not fight how the game forces them to fight.

There will always be room for improvment and i think what EA Sports will do is capitalize on what they think THQ’s game was missing. But THQ already has a lead in the race if you ask me. UFC 2009 is very technical once you get EVERYTHING down. I would say it took me about 5 months of hardcore playing to learn everything that the game had to offer, and now im sharpening everything up a little bit. I don’t play online btw, so i have nothing to offer in that department. I just play when my friends come over.

Exactly it has a great base that just needs fine tuning

It should be even deeper fighting style wise and hopefully a boxing style like jones Bones is much different than a boxing style like BJ Penn. The controls are great the graphics are good if they can more depth so every boxer are every JJ fighter seems to feel the same. And if EA makes a good game I’ll buuy that one too but I won’t say this one is better than that on until I play the undisputed I hope is better because of the fighter selection.

by Puck Head on Dec 11, 2009 1:40 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed

I didn’t like the fighting styles, as all boxers played the same and it didn’t take into account differences as basic as southpaws and orthodox stances nevermind making each fighter feel different. The career mode was a bit boring and repetitive (I ended up facing GSP 6 times in one career) and there were too many random flash KOs as well as it being too difficult to submit fighters, but it was still far superior to any other MMA game.

Hopefully this new one will bring in entrances and southpaws as well as improve on things like the career and online. The EA game should keep THQ on their toes as they’re no longer the only video game option for MMA fans. I’ll be buying both either way and am looking forward to getting the demos.

The curse of the video game cover continues....

Anyone notice Forrest was on the cover of 2009 (American release). He went in a champion. Then lost 2 consecutive fights in devastating fashion, subsequently losing the title in the process and getting SMOKED by A. Silva..

GSP was on the cover of the (Canadian release). He’s only had 1 fight since the release of the game and he got injured (as many of the Madden cover players do) and has been out for an extended period of time. It will be almost a year (9 months) that he has been out. That’s typical injury length for Madden cover players (which causes them to be out the following season, or very ineffective as a player or athlete.

Just something that breeds controversy… :)

2010

i think on ufc 2010 there should be more blood. ive been watchin how they be getting messed up in real life it should b the same with the game. also it would b pretty cool to have the x ray showing wen someone gets hit hard like a knockout. i also think the career mode shud b a lil bit better like scenes and other things.
