Dana White confirms Houston Alexander will be cut from the UFC following Dec. 5 loss to Kimbo Slice

Quoteworthy:

"Whoever came up with Houston Alexander's game plan ought to be kicked in the nuts for about five minutes. I don't know if his coaches came up with that or whatever but not only did they give him the wrong game plan, they completely destroyed everything about Houston Alexander. It was making me sick. I don't know if Kalib Starnes trained him for that fight or what the deal was but it was horrible. Kimbo was chasing him around the ring asking him to engage, trying to make it a fight and Houston didn't want to fight him. If we didn't cut him yet, we're cutting him -- soon."

UFC President Dana White confirms that light heavyweight Houston Alexander will be released from his UFC contract after his game of tag with Kimbo Slice at the Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 Finale back on Dec. 5. "The Assassin," who was brought in to produce fireworks against the bearded brawler, lost a unanimous decision after trying to play keep-away for three rounds, marking his fourth straight loss inside the Octagon. Any Maniacs out there sorry to see him go?

by 1roundKO on Dec 11, 2009 1:42 AM EST reply actions

He was never that good

and now he’s been cut, until the next time they need to make a can like Kimbo look good, and they give him another “shot” and Dana will call him a kid and say he deserves it…

btw I think Kimbo is a nice guy, but he is a can. garauntee you, if they give him anyone halfway decent to fight, he will get destroyed.

agreed

houston was cut before the kimbo fight, and they called him back up just for this fight

This is his first cut. He was allowed to go fight Sean P. just to keep food on the table. He has always been an employee.

it almost looked fixed but i wont let myslef think that…

Agreed

That’s the most pathetic thing that I’ve ever seen in a fight. Horrendous display from Houston and Kimbo wasn’t much better.

Nothing personal against the guy, but he destroyed his own career with that fight, at least for a while… The people who tuned into that event just to see Kimbo will never take him seriously after that, and the hardcore MMA fans who know he has had 4 losses straight won’t take him seriously anymore. He needs to resurrect his career before he can think about fighting in the UFC again!

4 straight ufc losses, but he did pick one win up in his last fight outside the ufc.

doesn't really matter who's game plan was gayest

because the fight itself doesn’t really matter, irrelevant fight, irrelevant fighters.

who are they going to feed to Kimbo next to make him look good? sign up Bob Sapp for a one off?

by Spinning Fat Kick on Dec 11, 2009 6:59 AM EST up reply actions

Jardine.

That would be a good fight for Kimbo, Jardine’s standup is some of the worst in the game, and he has no defense whatsoever! Kimbo could slam him to the ground and manhandle him. Should be an easy win for Kimbo! and i’m serious, if someone considers Jardine a favorite against Kimbo you have serious problems.

by RoBerto. on Dec 11, 2009 7:09 AM EST up reply actions

That is entirley uninteresting to me

Jardine was always over rated in my book, and kimbo may well win that fight, but I really wouldn’t care either way

In the name of the Fedor, the Anderson and the GSP, Amen.

by Spinning Fat Kick on Dec 11, 2009 7:32 AM EST up reply actions

I wouldn't think so

Jardine is not unreal by any means and isn’t gonna be champ ever but to say Kimbo would win is going a bit far. Jardine would easily take him down and sub him or G’n’P him
There’s always the chance that Kimbo would KO him but I don’t see Greg Jackson telling Jardine to stand right in front of him with his hands in his pockets

by IrishKev on Dec 11, 2009 7:46 AM EST up reply actions

you really think Jardine would take Kimbo down easily.

Kimbo is quite a bit bigger than Jardine. I don’t know who would win but my money would be on Kimbo that’s for sure. oh and btw, I don’t care what Greg Jackson is telling him ‘cause if that mattered Jardine wouln’t be getting knocked out all the time.

by RoBerto. on Dec 11, 2009 12:44 PM EST up reply actions

WFC

Who f’n cares – now UFC is taking advantage of the Kimbo name and that is all that it is….name without any game. Jardine would demolish “you know what I’m sayin”.

by hairybumcrack on Dec 11, 2009 3:52 PM EST up reply actions

Jardine would tenderise his legs

If Kimbo was bothered about the kicks he was recieving from Houston, then I would see this matchup ending with Kimbo losing due to Jardine completely chopping his legs to pieces in the same way Vera won his match.

by Ade on Dec 12, 2009 6:47 AM EST up reply actions

That’s still a dangerous fight for Kimbo because Jardine has awesome leg kicks, he’ll just chop Kimbo down. Bring back Kalib Starnes and let him go 2-0 to get his confidence up.

by Sofa-King-Toasty on Dec 11, 2009 9:29 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

Jardine would smash Kimbo rd. 1

say what you want about his retard striking. He would kick kimbos leg off. hes way to battle tested for Kimbo to really threaten him. Hes bigger than Houston too

as much as kimbo is trying

he has sooo far to go before he is well rounded..and he is old to start..and his bum knee..so dana should throw suspect fighters at him…if kimbo wins, he should cut them…this is a joke by the way.

by tkkpal on Dec 11, 2009 7:24 AM EST reply actions

Jardine would kill Kimbo.please stop!!!

Chuck(still decent), Rampage and Vera…all have better striking skills than Kimbo and they all couldn’t knock him out…Yes Jardine has a weak chin but you have to hit it first, Jardine would monkey his way around the cage and pick Kimbo apart…..lets not forget the Seth Jab was worse then anything Jardine got ko’d with……which makes Houston’s corner an even bigger joke….

by Robert(1) on Dec 11, 2009 8:21 AM EST up reply actions

Jardine isn’t Rampage is he, Kimbo has better technique than Jardine does standing up and yeah Jardine has a big advantage on his kicks but boxing is more important and Jardine has terrible boxing defence. you can come with arguments like the seth fight, but as i remember Houston knocked Jardine out pretty badly.

by RoBerto. on Dec 11, 2009 9:04 AM EST up reply actions

Jardine would eat Kimbo with nasty leg kicks

Roberto, you mentioned that someone would have serious problems if they thought Jardine would be a favorite against Kimbo…

I think you may be overestimating Kimbo’s overall mma abilities. Jardine is definitely fickle in the win/loss column, but to say that Kimbo would easily win is a bit of an overstatement imo,

Would still be a decent slugfest non-the-less.

by PRZ on Dec 11, 2009 7:31 AM EST reply actions

right.

Jardine s*cks i know, it wouldn’t do much for Kimbo in our eyes, but many ppl who’ve seen Jardine fight all those big names would see Kimbo in a different light after he beats Keith. You’re right he would be eating leg kicks but that didn’t stop Thiago Silva from knocking him the F out, Jardine’s legkicks were so weak against Rampage too, because he got afraid once he felt Rampage’s power! I’d say his legkicks are overrated because of how he kept on landing them on Chuck Liddell.

by RoBerto. on Dec 11, 2009 7:38 AM EST up reply actions

exactly PRZ!

if not 1, then 2 or 3 leg kicks will send kimbo to the mat! it dont matter how hard they are..the arthritis in kimbos knees can withstand any punishment at all! my legs kicks would drop him.

Yep, ever since i was a young kid.

It isn’t stopping me from doing anything. when you saw Kimbo get dropped by Houston, it was because of his balance not that he was close to being done or anything like you’re almost saying newfie3.

Not MMA but...

Tae Kwon Do for years and Thai Boxing more recently. As far as jj or anything like that, i’d love to learn but a lack of available training in those areas of the game around my local area prohibit me from doing so.

Not as bad as when he pronounced Leicester as “Lie Chester” instead of “Lester”. Goldberg ballsed it up as well (“Lie Ster”). UFC 105 was a bad night for James Wilks all round, he took a beating and got his hometown mispronounced twice.
