This fight is going to be amazing

As with most people, I believe BJ will win… But I’m not 100% set on that. It’s going to be incredible. I see Diego coming out swinging, getting tagged HARD but not being effected at all (that solid mexican chin!). Diego will not get subbed, and will have his furious pace for the whole fight. I would not be surprised if Diego pulled off a dec… maybe even a TKO.

Can’t wait.

by And Boom goes the dynamite on Nov 30, 2009 3:43 PM EST reply actions

Yeah keep dreaming Jose

Penn will finish Sanchez.
Kongo will finish Mir.

by Lester The Pimp on Nov 30, 2009 3:59 PM EST up reply actions

I agree with ur picks

also I might add, next to 100, this is the best card of the year…..

by Robert(1) on Nov 30, 2009 5:12 PM EST up reply actions

Does anyone notice

diego’s highlight reel is all against c-b list fighters

by GOLDIGGAH on Nov 30, 2009 5:12 PM EST up reply actions

yes

also Kos vs Sanchez wasn’t exactly fireworks, so it was kinda boring Dana

by Robert(1) on Nov 30, 2009 5:14 PM EST up reply actions

what A list fighter is in the UFC’s LW division?

by Synyster_08 on Nov 30, 2009 7:00 PM EST up reply actions

Um. . .

The one that Diego is fighting next sure springs to mind!

by haglnuts on Nov 30, 2009 7:01 PM EST up reply actions

yeah, I was responding to Goldiggah’s comment about Diego’s highlight reel being c-b list fighters.. who is available for Diego to get that A list fighter on his highlight reel? Gray or Frankie?

by Synyster_08 on Nov 30, 2009 7:03 PM EST up reply actions

Im not talking about his future highlight reel so your responce means nothing mean nothing

From watching that video all im saying is that all his finishes are against fighters that arnt that good

by GOLDIGGAH on Nov 30, 2009 7:07 PM EST up reply actions

okay. . .

Gotcha Syn – And I completely agree with you. I know MMA-math ain’t always accurate but Diego beat Stevenson and Guida whereas BJ murdered Stevenson and Florian murdered both stevenson AND Guida. I’d like to have seen Diego fight Florian first to earn his position as #1 contender. What do you think?

by haglnuts on Nov 30, 2009 7:10 PM EST up reply actions

Florian vs Diego 2 woulda been awesome, but I thought Kenny was long due for a title shot. Dominating Lauzon (not a top guy, but very good), Huerta, Joe Daddy definitely earned him a title shot. A fight vs Deigo woulda been one HELL of a tough road to a title shot.

by Synyster_08 on Nov 30, 2009 9:31 PM EST up reply actions

Im confident Diego takes this

Its hard to see any holes in a complete fighters game until hes exposed,BJ got exposed at welterweight by GSP and I believe hes going to be exposed again come next week when he faces Nightmare.Diegos not just a wild aggressive dush bag that fights recklessly, hes actually very technically sound and methodical in all areas of the game.Diegos gona put Penn on his back and hes gona hurt him on the feet, even if he does lose mark my words he’s going to suprise Penn and alot of you haters and doubters I guarantee it.

by The Legacy on Dec 1, 2009 11:51 AM EST up reply actions

Diego the new LW champ!

what are u talking about? Diego’s hightlight reel is against the opponents he’s been given it says nothing about his quality, I can promise you that he would have beaten Matt Hughes at WW when Matt was fighting GSP, but he never got that fight, and he did beat Jon Fitch if you score it right.. Other than that he’s fought and beat the same fighters BJ has, I also think he was a better WW than BJ was..

by Tito-4-life! on Nov 30, 2009 7:18 PM EST up reply actions

LMAO

BJ beat Hughes when he was the most dominant champ ever! his accomplishments at ww are better than some natural ww’s and aside from GSP, he can beat any WW right now!

by kevjack115 on Nov 30, 2009 7:23 PM EST up reply actions

Is being the most dominant champ some sort of a skill?

No it’s not, he never fought guys like BJ when he dominated. And he did not fight guys like Diego when he dominated. BJ can not beat any WW right now, that’s for sure.

by Tito-4-life! on Nov 30, 2009 8:03 PM EST up reply actions

u really have me laughing

go to BE, they have a BJ article, seems knowledge is on BE today, those tools like me think if you take GSP out of the mix, BJ could hold 2 belts. You realize he took Machida to a close decision right? here, read this, you’re obviously a newer fan!
http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f2/all-newer-fans-why-bj-so-respected-585130/

by kevjack115 on Nov 30, 2009 8:07 PM EST up reply actions

read an article? what the fock do u get out of those kinda articles?

No, I’ve been following MMA for a very long time, the Machida fight was in Japan and 5 or some years ago. It’s not too hard to take Machida to a decision when all the dude does/did is backpedal and throw single shots all the time.

sure BJ could hold two belts, but he wouldn’t, there are too strong fighters at WW. Like Alves and Kos.

by Tito-4-life! on Nov 30, 2009 8:16 PM EST up reply actions

you make good points.
hughes is the best WW ever as of now, he will be surpassed (if not already) by GSP. When BJ beat him, no one could. I think those “big strong” guys would have trouble with BJ, he’s quick, his jits is 2nd to none and he has really heavy hands! Just my 2 cents buddy! I see this card as a money maker for gamblers, mir and BJ. I know you’re being sarcastic about Mir’s jits, at least i hope!

by kevjack115 on Nov 30, 2009 8:20 PM EST up reply actions

I’m always a bit sarcastic when i’m pushing something, but the point is still the same. I think Mir can be overwhelmed as he was by Pe de Pano, Vera, Brock (next Kongo) on the ground and when that happens his jits go out the window.

today’s ww’s are also of course alot better then the ww’s were in hughes era. that’s just how it goes in every sport.

by Tito-4-life! on Nov 30, 2009 8:27 PM EST up reply actions

Kev it’s RoB! Mir sucks!

RoBerto you should go back to your screeen name of before. That way you’ll probably get less flamed on.

by Alpha Male on Nov 30, 2009 8:23 PM EST up reply actions

He took machida to a decision but it really wasnt close,I gave Penn the first round exceptionally but the 2nd and 3rd definantly went to Machida and thats when he was still green. He wouldnt take him the distance now.

by The Legacy on Dec 1, 2009 11:35 AM EST up reply actions

Kev,

You’re right, BJ is an animal and could beat the MAJORITY of WW both in and out of the UFC. BUT, i just don’t think he could take the top 3 or so, (GSP) Fitch, Alves… He’d likely get taken down over and over and worn out by Fitch and he’d have to pull a slick sub on Alves (his boxing is greeat but overall Alves’ standup is too much for him, imo.)

Diego is a scrapper and will definitely bring it, but BJ is just too skilled and faught too many top guys….. BJ via sub rnd 4

by SouthCaliStunNa on Nov 30, 2009 9:11 PM EST up reply actions

mark my words

mir demolishes Kongo. The only thing Kongo will hit is his chest on the way to the cage. I’ll bet anything this “K-1 striker” will then try to take mir down! lol

by kevjack115 on Nov 30, 2009 5:14 PM EST up reply actions

man

Im watching the new episode of tuf on mmatv…..

by GOLDIGGAH on Nov 30, 2009 5:16 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed

Mir beats kongo easily, these whiny little douches let there hatred for mir cloud there judgement on who is gonna win the fight.

by mma guru on Nov 30, 2009 6:24 PM EST up reply actions

Kongo is going to be fine when he takes Mir down! Mir has nothing to offer, his last sub was a heelhook/footlock that rookie Brock gave to him. Mir has nothing to offer from his back to Kongo!

Lock of the year Kongo beats Mir, put everything u got on it! I will.

by Tito-4-life! on Nov 30, 2009 7:27 PM EST up reply actions

lmao again!

Kongo has no ground game yet has so little confidence in his stand up he tries to take guys down. Mir is a legit threat to anyone on the ground, you bring up his “last sub against a rookie” but go look at his other subs! wow, you make some amazing points buddy!

by kevjack115 on Nov 30, 2009 7:41 PM EST up reply actions

kevin my friend. . . call me after the fight

and admit that you were wrong and i was right! you will see, Mir hasn’t subbed a legit HW in 10 years, Kongo has great sub defense too.

Mir is noway in hell a legit threat to anyone on the ground, he has a BIG tendency of giving up when he’s on the bottom getting pounded.

by Tito-4-life! on Nov 30, 2009 8:01 PM EST up reply actions

no problem

I have zero problem admitting when im wrong, it happens so rarely!

by kevjack115 on Nov 30, 2009 8:02 PM EST up reply actions

Im never right, and I think Mir and BJ will win. just my 2 cents.

by Synyster_08 on Nov 30, 2009 9:34 PM EST up reply actions

Pretty sure it was a kneebar.

doesnt really matter though. What matters is Kongo in Mirs guard, where he won’ t last very long. Mir is great at attacking from Guard. and Kongo throws pillow shots. Frankie by Sub

by brendog on Dec 1, 2009 11:02 AM EST up reply actions

Speak the truth

Mir will finish Kongo and BJ will KO Dirty!

by MMACHAMP on Nov 30, 2009 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

exactly

and ask the guys that went to 101 how good I am at predictions! I predicted the endings on that card!

by kevjack115 on Nov 30, 2009 7:48 PM EST up reply actions

Mir will end up like Al Turk

I am one of those who have always thought Mir was overrated, and also said he would get a severe beatdown by Lesner in their second match. Those who who are still amazed by his lucky win over an inexperienced Lesner and his win over a 50% Nog will really see how overated he is when Kongo stuffs his takedowns and beats down on him till he taps out. Kongo may well have a pea brain at times when it comes to strategy in the octogan, but I do not think it will matter against Mir because I have never considred him close to the top in the heavyweighht division. I said after Lesner beat him it will be the begining of the end for him, and fighting Kongo will not change that.

by Ade on Dec 1, 2009 6:14 AM EST up reply actions

Speaking of overrated

Chieck Kongo doesn’t come to mind….?

dude.....i am

by brendog on Dec 1, 2009 11:04 AM EST up reply actions

agreed with your picks

bj just seems to be on a different level than the rest of the 155ers

by irish maniac on Nov 30, 2009 5:15 PM EST up reply actions

?

The only ques I have is BJ going to be in phenominal shape?… if he his in great shape and has the desire, he BJ has a good chance to TKO Sanchez… Sanchez’s punches will feel like pillows to BJ… whereas BJ punches will inflict damage to diego… having said that, I think this will be BJ’s toughest opponent at 155lbs that he’s faced since coming back into the UFC, Deigo’s best chance is to out punch n’ kick BJ n’ out score him especially if he can get BJ against the cage.

by THORAZINE on Dec 1, 2009 1:45 AM EST up reply actions

I think Diego will push BJ very hard for the 1st round, but BJ will end up submitting him late with a RNC. Kenny was never submitted either, and BJ never KO’d anyone with a Flying Knee before Sherk, so just because Deigo never been finished doesn’t mean it wont happen.

I love both dudes, and I’m secretly hoping for Deigo to win, but I’m thinking Penn takes it.

by Synyster_08 on Nov 30, 2009 7:06 PM EST up reply actions

First for everything

Bisping had never been KO’d till Hendo put him to sleep so the same will happen to Diego! The only thing that will keep Diego in this fight is his heart but Mr Coconut will go all Mortal Kombat on his ass by ripping it out!

by MMACHAMP on Nov 30, 2009 7:57 PM EST up reply actions

I'm a huge fan of both

But give Diego a 0.00% chance of winning this one. I will be doing a write up when I have time!

by kevjack115 on Nov 30, 2009 4:38 PM EST reply actions

Why does he have no chance?

Diego can take a shot as well as anyone in the division and give plenty back. He has strong stand-up and can hit BJ with punches, knees and kicks. Diego also has a great ground game from his back and especially from the top. Most importantly, Diego is an accomplished wrestler. The last two fighters to beat BJ, GSP and Hughes, took him down and beat him up. There is no reason in the workd why Diego can’t do the same.

I'm kind of a big deal.

by P-Dub on Nov 30, 2009 4:44 PM EST up reply actions

ok

He was dominating Hughes before he sustained a rib injury and GSP is a different animal. Diego will come out gang busters like he did against Guida, only difference is, BJ hits really hard where Guida doesn’t. Diego can’t stand toe to toe with BJ. “He’s a good wrestler”…ok, so he’s gonna take BJ down and get submitted!

by kevjack115 on Nov 30, 2009 4:54 PM EST up reply actions

Never thought of that

That’s a good point of view P-Dub. Granted the Hughes loss was when BJ had no conditioning and not his current ‘loving competing’ attitude. But the last loss to GSP was GSP handling BJ and wearing him down slowly, I think Diego is too eager and will be trying to constantly move and hit BJ and out work him.
Neither will be TKO’d, BJ ain’t getting subbed, I’d normally say the same boot Diego but c’mon, its the Prodigy. Only way I see Diego winning is by getting his take downs and looking active by trying to pass guard or little flurries of G’n’P. But I don’t think he could do that for a solid 25 mins without slipping once and BJ taking advantage somehow
BJ via sub round 3 or 4

by IrishKev on Nov 30, 2009 5:02 PM EST up reply actions

Diego isnt the greatest fighter from the bottom

He’s more of a top game guy and if he gets put on his back the night will be over

by GOLDIGGAH on Nov 30, 2009 5:11 PM EST up reply actions

Did you see what he did to Huggie from the bottom? He carved him up with elbows and nearly caught several submissions. Huggie was defending the entire time. If the judges were smarter than potted plants they would have scored the round 10-9 Diego.

I'm kind of a big deal.

by P-Dub on Nov 30, 2009 5:20 PM EST up reply actions

Bj isnt the huggie bear

Its not hard to elbow someone when all they do is rest their head on your chest ……and that round was definetly diego’s…………..and what i said was true, he is more of a top game guy and he isnt the greatest off his back

by GOLDIGGAH on Nov 30, 2009 5:43 PM EST up reply actions

You just got me thinking

WTF is guida gunna do when he takes florian down and gets smashed with elbows from the bottom

by GOLDIGGAH on Nov 30, 2009 5:44 PM EST up reply actions

Is this from an action movie?

He’s gonna bleed.

I'm kind of a big deal.

by P-Dub on Nov 30, 2009 5:53 PM EST up reply actions

BJ is on another level

at the time I thought Kenny and Sherk had good chins and good ground games and Penn made them both look like children

by Robert(1) on Nov 30, 2009 5:17 PM EST up reply actions

LOL I don't know why but that kind of comment doesn't surprise me coming out of ya kevo.

P-Dub is right…the only thing that that I could make the difference is that Diego lacks of power in his punch and kicks. That’s what I was trying to make you guys realized when you were all amazed with Huggie’s chin.

by Alpha Male on Nov 30, 2009 4:55 PM EST up reply actions

oops correction

but the only thing that that I could make the difference is that Diego lacks of power in his punch and kicks. That’s what I was trying to make you guys realized when you were all amazed with Huggie’s chin

I will be betting almost all my money on BJ. Ill leave some for beer.

Lol @Frank Mir

Gotta love his shit talking it’s pretty amusing. “When I get a hold of him it might be the last time he competes as an athlete.” “I’m still a tiger and you’re still prey.” LOL gotta love it.

You still up for the Wandi-Bisping bet?

Been a while since I’ve seen you comment frosnt, don’t know if you saw this post but these are my terms:

Pic and sig for a month, pic will be of Bisping unconscious after getting KO’d by Wandi (or Hendo is the impossible happens and he survives 15 minutes with the Axe Murderer) and your sig will be "Anderson Silva is p4p the greatest fighter of all time, Fedor and GSP fear the mighty Spider".

Frank Mir is a mouthy punk and Kongo is an idiot with a stupid entrance, I honestly couldn’t care less about the result, as long as one of them loses decisively and falls out of contention at HW then I’ll be happy.

by David W-S on Nov 30, 2009 7:01 PM EST up reply actions

Of course it's on

The event’s far away, though. I’ll think of a pic and sig for you when the time nears.

Looking forward to it, War Wandi!!!!

by David W-S on Nov 30, 2009 7:34 PM EST up reply actions

thats a tough fight to call!

I’m a fan of both and it pains me to say 9since wand is such a legend) but I’m leaning towards Bisping in this one!

by kevjack115 on Nov 30, 2009 7:42 PM EST up reply actions

Bisping has no power and his striking technique and wrestling are overrated, Wandi will come out swinging from the start and blow him away in seconds like he did to Jardine, especially if Bisping keeps up the aggressive style from the Kang fight and still persists in circling to his left.

by David W-S on Nov 30, 2009 7:57 PM EST up reply actions

BJ / Florian fight said a lot

I thought Florian would put up a good fight and make it to a decision….Not even close. Kenny looked confused after he had a taste of what BJ was about. Remember the superman punch he tried?

Florians cardio is top level…like Diegos.

I think BJ will take this fight in impressive fashion. BJ is on another level.

If it were NOT for that damn GSP, BJ could hold both belts :)

OMG CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS

i got goosebumps watching the first half with bj and diego!! diego is so damn intense!

can’t wait for the fight
