UFC 107 odds and betting lines for 'Penn vs Sanchez' on Dec. 12
It's never too soon to start thinking about betting on future fights ... especially when the early lines come out looking rather interesting.
Think Diego Sanchez is the next lightweight champion?
Well, he's currently a very decent underdog bet exactly two weeks from his showdown with 155-pound kingpin, BJ Penn, which is scheduled for UFC 107 from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn., on Dec. 12.
How about Clay Guida squeaking out a crazy decision?
It's certainly possible -- just like everything else in this sport -- even though most expect former two-time number one contender, Kenny Florian, to nail the "Carpenter" on fight night.
In short, you can make a lot of scratch right now if you think you can predict these outcomes -- the lines will likely only tighten up as we inch closer to showtime.
Therefore, here are the latest UFC 107 odds (- = favorite; + = underdog):
| BJ Penn |
-300 | BET NOW |
|---|---|---|
| Diego Sanchez |
+220 | BET NOW |
| Frank Mir |
-175 | BET NOW |
| Cheick Kongo |
+145 | BET NOW |
| Kenny Florian |
-200 | BET NOW |
| Clay Guida |
+160 | BET NOW |

the name stands for...
young and fresh, someone who thinks outside the box.. Diego is the favorite in my book, BJ looked good against Kenny sure, but Diego is 5 times the athlete Kenny is, he’s stronger, faster, taller, better instincts, better chin and heart.. My prediction is that he’s gonna overwhelm him on the ground with GnP in like the 4th round or something, similar to what Hughes and GSP did to BJ..

negative
diego is not gsp. as much as he wants to be. bj penn losing to gsp, is like gsp losing to anderson/ anderson losing to machida/ machida losing to (i hate to say it) lesnar. there is no lightweight in the world ight now who can take bjs belt. so tito-4-life, if you want to make a bet, ill bet you heads up with 5-1 odds that bj will beat diego.

I am surprised Kongo isnt a bigger underdog
Dont see much value there. Love Guida at +200 though, I can easily see him humping Florian for three rounds and a split decision victory.

that's because he isn't the underdog
anybody who knows anything about how to predict fights, and who really knows anything about the two fighters knows that.
1. Mir’s wrestling isn’t good enough.
2. His standup isn’t anywhere near Kongo’s.
3. Kongo is extremely hard to submit with his strength, and actually has great sub defense.
4. Kongo can take Mir down at will, and has great Ground and pound which Mir is gonna have no defense for and turn his head away when he no longer wants to be there.
feel free to disagree, but if you do, think of what i just said after Kongo beats him in the first round!

Actually ... he IS the underdog.
Yeah, I’m gonna go ahead and say that the sports book guys know what they are doing. They know how to predict fights better than a Swedish Tito fan on the internet. That’s why Vegas is still doing great even though they don’t produce or sell anything. They just make money… in huge sums.
When is the last time you heard of a bookie going out of business? They don’t because even when an upset occurs they are right on so many of the other fights and the odds are structured in such a way that they are covered.
To your points above:
1) You’re right Mir has no ground game, that’s why he is a former champion and has a win over Lesner ON THE GROUND.
2) His stand up doesn’t need to be better. Heath “Born to Lose” Herring beat CK on the ground as did Cain V. Um, let me guess what Mir’s game plan might be….
3) Okay, but that doesn’t prevent him from losing fights to ground guys. See my response to point number 2. Also, Lesner’s strength didn’t help him in his first fight with Mir.
4) Yeah, I’m sure Kongo wants to go to the ground with a BJJ fighter… brilliant strategy. LFMAO
Oh, and btw, in response to your message from way above, “thinking outside the box” is such a cliche now that people who say it aren’t really doing it. They are just repeating an old saying.
Good luck rooting for Tito. The guy is WINLESS in his last FOUR fights. Maybe 2 more losses and he is out for good… zero wins in six fights…ouch! Totally realistic scenario. Let’s see how far down the list the have to go to find a guy that will lose to Tito. My guess is a TUF early round castoff. Too bad Scinosic is already booked.

He didn't say Mir has no ground game
He said Mir has no take downs. Mir doesn’t have any TD’s, he subs people who take him down. Lesnar’s strength did help him in his first fight with Mir, Mir got a lucky stand up. Mir was getting smashed in their first fight and would have lost if the ref wasn’t retarded.
Mir doesn’t GNP people so the HH fight and the Cain fight have nothing to do with Mir fighting Kongo.
If you count Mir’s win on the ground over Lesnar as a showing of Mir’s skills, you haven’t watched the fight. Mir was handled for that whole fight ON THE GROUND by a guy with 90 seconds worth of MMA experience. Mir’s ground game is vastly over rated, so quit acting like he is unstoppable there.

Ya Mir sucks his jits is nowhere near the level of Nog, Werdum, Fedor etc. Hell he was even getting handled by Roy Nelson on the ground. In the hype for UFC 100, I lol’d at the comment Dana White made that either Frank Mir or Noguiera is the best heavyweight submission artist in MMA history.

Mir is going to win
his takedowns are decent. seeing the Kongo has -7000 for wrestling defense, this is an easy first round submission win for Mir. You guys really underrate Mir.
