Kimbo Slice set make UFC debut at Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale on Dec. 5

kimbo

As expected, Kimbo Slice (3-1) will make his first official appearance inside the Octagon at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 Finale, which is slated for "The Pearl" at The Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Dec. 5.

Spike TV today officially announced his participation on the card; however, his opponent -- who is rumored to be Houston Alexander -- will be revealed "at a later date."

Slice was invited to compete on the latest mixed martial arts reality series by company president Dana White. For years White had lambasted Slice while he competed under the Elite XC banner, feeling he did not deserve all the promotion and hype as a top fighter in the sport just because of his reputation as a backyard brawler in the mean streets of Miami.

So White was probably not surprised when Roy Nelson, arguably the best fighter in the house, took out Slice in episode three with a second round technical knockout.

On the other hand, he was probably pleasantly surprised when the monster ratings poured in for the network -- Spike TV set all-time viewership records thanks to the Slice factor. And when he laces 'em up on Dec. 5 the promotion and the network can expect more of the same.

Slice has not competed since the infamous 14-second technical knockout loss to Seth Petruzelli at Elite XC: "Heat" more than one year ago (Oct. 4, 2008).

TUF 10 Finale will feature a showdown between the top two finalists from the Spike TV reality show, as well as a light heavyweight war featuring Jon "Bones" Jones as he inches his way closer to contention against Matt "The Hammer" Hamill.

Stay dialed in to MMAmania.com for more on TUF 10 Finale as it becomes available.

Should be some crazy ratings. I just think it’s sad that it takes a ghetto Z-level street fighter to pull big numbers.

Houston is going to put Kimbo’s head into orbit.

So Houston will fight at HW. Wonder what his fight weight will be?

Houston FTW via brutal knees

The fight will be at 205, BNF!

Probably JJ, but I wouldn’t mind to see Kimbo win.

i hope kimbo wins b/c i would like to see him fight liddell. chuck has said he wants one more

fight. imagine the ppv’s plus chuck had alot of smack towards kimbo on the hdnet mma show. they could build that fight into a ppv bonanza. hopefully slice can get by houston. i’ll say 50/50.

kimbo vs chuck

Thats a good match up for both fighters, hope it dosnt headline a ppv but I’d like to see it!

by DrewMoney$$$ on Nov 23, 2009 9:35 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

I say

Houston or Kimbo for Chuck both fights would be huge….alot of people know about Houston, if they make Chuck vs Tito instead I would be at a loss for words

by Robert(1) on Nov 24, 2009 8:15 AM EST up reply actions

completely agree

I already bet a buddy (who now has 3 kimbo bunny hugs, ugh) 50.00 on Houston. Kimbo has shown nothing but crap in the cage & is a decent guy out of it. But that’s of no relevance come fight time.

Houston should make short work of him.

As for below? Its rumored to be a catch weight of 215 lbs.

by daniel worby on Nov 24, 2009 8:34 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

The Irony in this fight(and the smart move for Kimbo), would be to see Kimbo take down Houston and take advantage of his zero ground game while pounding him out.!!!

It's hard.....

to believe that Ferguson’s fight with Petruzelli was over a year ago!

by Muscle-Dolphin on Nov 23, 2009 5:28 PM EST reply actions

I have only watched the Nelson Fight this season

It wouldn’t surprise me if they threw him in the last semi, he gets a punchers chance victory and makes it to the final.

LOL...

The only guy he would be replacing is Matt Mitrione…and I can’t see Kimbo beating James McSweeney. He will get chopped down with kicks fast as he went down when fighting Seth Petruzelli.

Best moment of the fight...

Then you got Rogan calling Tito stupid for asking what hit him.

And here the proof of Tito fractured skull

this is the worst tuf season ever

i think they have matt hammill vs jon jones on tuf 10 finale too. i pull for a guy like hammill but jones is lightning fast like jose aldo. i hope hammill does not get seriously hurt.

You can't hurt Matt Hamill

Jon Jones is going to get hit this fight. If he can take some good punches I might start buying into some of the hype. I don’t think he has what it takes. Matt hits hard(even if it is slow and predictable). Matt is going to jab a hole in Jones’ face.

I agree with you Jay, Matt Hamill will beat Jon Jones

by Synyster_08 on Nov 23, 2009 7:27 PM EST up reply actions

speed kills like the sec says and jose aldo's speed crushed mike brown.

i hate to tell you this but hammill has no chance. did you not see the fight with bonnar(vs jones). bonnar could not even get off more than five strikes for entire fight vs jones. jones was too fast. hammill is slower than bonnar. hammill was hurt on tuf show. just think what jones will do to him. by the time hammill got that leg kick up like he did vs munoz he would be punched in the face and knocked out. i like hammill too but the facts are the facts.

Jones should win

I do think that Hammil will be a good test in the natural progression of a young fighter. Hammil is the right opponent at this stage in his career. He will hit Jones with a few big shots, not many but we will see if his chin holds up.. we will also get to see how his explosive wrestling holds up against matts wrestling and BRUTE clinch game.

I do think that speed kills. Matt “tortoise hands” hammil! LMFAOL!!! His hands are so slow, and his technique is so crappy that I think he will get picked apart. lucky for him that he has a good chin or he would get embarrassed early in this fight! I do expect expect Jones to win, but not early. Hammil will get outclassed but is sturdy enough to crawl his way to a decision, where he will lose!

You can’t hurt Matt Hamill

Tell that Rich Franklin.

Jones will outclass Matt, y’hear?

your key words are slow and predictable.

i really pull for someone like matt h. a hard worker and had to overcome a disability but jones has soo much speed. knockout 3 minutes into fight. sorry that is the way i see it.

yes i am obsessive, obnoxious, in your face and all about covering the spread. those are my good qualities.

Whooa

I didn’t say Hamill would win. I said he is going to hit Jones. If Jones can withstand the Hamill jab, I will give him more credit in future fights.
Jones probably will win this fight, and if I were to bet it, I would bet Jones.

JJ, Jones isn’t Franklin.

If KIMBO wins I'll shave half my chest

I’m no kimbo hater but I can’t see him winning this fight, hope they keep using him on spike for the ratings and leave him off the ppv’s

by DrewMoney$$$ on Nov 23, 2009 9:00 PM EST via mobile reply actions

I used to be a Kimbo hater Til I saw this season of tough. I’m still rooting for him to beat alexander, just so i can see Kimbo versus Tito

by OM20 on Nov 24, 2009 6:30 AM EST reply actions

tito kimbo?

I truly hope that never happens ever. That’d be a waste. That fights 100% got only one storyline. Tito stays back for 1 min, kimbo gasses faster than roseanne after a bucket of chicken & tito hauls him down & that’s that as kimbo gets hailed on from above.

Kimbo always has to fight the ‘Houstons’ of the UFC for him to remain a draw.

by daniel worby on Nov 24, 2009 8:47 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

agree daniel

Don’t put Kimbo in the cage with anyone who has seen a wrestling mat.

Ya throwing him undeservedly in with high profile wrestlers is a write off. Dana is smarter than that, & if he’s to continue to cash in on kimbo its gotta be against marginally good strikers that have no intentions on doing anything but going for the ko.

by daniel worby on Nov 24, 2009 10:04 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

yep

Kimbo’s a really nice guy who just wants to provide for his family. Imagine how hard that would be, when you only know one thing, and you aren’t that good at that one thing. I really hope Kimbo gets his money because I feel for the guy.

I’m still kind of confused on why people care so much about Kimbo. Those Spike TV ratings are insane for a youtube celebrity.
