George Roop to meet Jesse Moreng at WEC 46
The WEC continues its trend of signings as the promotion and UFC veteran George Roop have come to terms on a contract beginning at WEC 46: "Varner vs. Henderson" where he will meet Jesse Moreng, according to AroundTheOctagon.com.
Roop (10-5) was absolutely dominated by George Sotiropoulos at UFC 101: "Declaration," but managed to rebound with an impressive unanimous decision victory over Matt Dell at Rage in the Cage 137. This will be Roop’s debut with the WEC.
Moreng (9-1) first fought in the promotion at WEC 26 in March of 2007 in a fight he lost to Micah Miller via submission. After a two year absence from the cage, "Arturo" stormed through Brandon Miller at Apache Gold: "Extreme Beat Down" and has now signed back on with World Extreme Cagefighting.
WEC 46 is set for Jan. 10, 2010 at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California. The card is headlined by a lightweight title unification bout between interim champion Benson Henderson and finally healthy Jamie Varner. Also on the card, Urijah Faber makes his return against Raphael Assuncao.

Roop v. Moreng
Oh, this fight is in WEC. That’s good.
At this point, I think any TUF non-finalists at 155lbs. should be in WEC. Let’s be honest: they probably never will be contenders in UFC, but they can help to fill out a division that, while on the rise, can certainly use some more talent.
