UFC 105 medical suspensions and injuries

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently issued its list of medical suspensions for UFC 105: "Couture vs. Vera," which took place on Saturday, Nov. 14 from the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England.
Because there is no overseas athletic commission for these events, the UFC acts as its own sanctioning body and adheres to the unified rules for mixed martial arts, following the same medical requirements as the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
With several of the bouts ending by way of (T)KO, there were quite a few fighters who were flagged follow up visits with their doctors, including Randy "The Natural" Couture, who joins opponent Brandon Vera on the sidelines for 30 days following their three round battle. Mike "Quick" Swick — who coughed up a chance to fight Georges St. Pierre for welterweight gold, could be out for 60 days with a possible orbital fracture courtesy of Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy.
James "Lightning" Wilks will also need to give his melon a rest after "The Immortal" Matt Brown pounded on it en route to a third round technical knockout. And Paul "Tellys" Kelly didn’t get off easy either after going limp against the spinning back kick of Denis Siver.
Here is the complete list of UFC 105 injuries and their medical instructions, courtesy of MixedMartialArts.com:
Randy Couture: Suspended 30 days; no contact for 21 days.
Brandon Vera: Suspended 30 days; no contact for 21 days.
Mike Swick: Suspended 180 days (possible broken left orbital) and must receive doctor's clearance. If cleared, minimum suspension of 60 days; no contact for 45 days.
Denis Kang: Suspended 60 days; no contact for 45 days.
Matt Brown: Suspended 180 days (possible right hand injury) and must receive doctor's clearance. If cleared, minimum suspension of 45 days; no contact for 30 days.
James Wilks: Suspended 180 days (possible nasal fracture) and must receive doctor's clearance. If cleared, minimum suspension of 60 days; no contact for 45 days.
Aaron Riley: Suspended 90 days; no contact for 60 days.
Paul Taylor: Suspended 60 days; no contact for 45 days.
Shannon Gugerty: Suspended 30 days; no contact for 21 days.
Matt Riddle: Suspended 60 days; no contact for 45 days.
Paul Kelly: Suspended 180 days (facial fracture and abdominal contusion) and must receive doctor's clearance. If cleared, minimum suspension of 60 days; no contact for 45 days.
Jared Hamman: Suspended 180 days (left eye injury) and must receive doctor's clearance. If cleared, minimum suspension of 60 days; no contact for 45 days.
Roli Delgado: Suspended 60 days; no contact for 45 days.
Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.

Even worse for Kelly that idiot Miragliotta let the fight continue while Kelly was lying on the floor clutching his ribs. Bloody idiot that guy he should be banned from refereeing. Kelly was the only guy who had to be helped backstage, he’ll probabaly get released now along with Kang, Roli and Taylor.

i think they’ll keep taylor and kelly to fill out some of the cards. that was only his second loss, kelly is probably more at risk.
as i said in one of the other threads i dont think it will be long before there are euorpean belts on the line especially if the majority of the title fights are kept stateside. you could almost have a mini tournament with the amount of european lightweights on the books at the moment with pearson, winner, hathaway, etim then siver, bielkheden, taylor, sobotta

sorry taylor is at more risk, that should be! they should have an edit function on this so you can go back and alter posts

No need for more belts, all of the meaningless local titles like European and English belts aren’t doing boxing any favours and if the shows had European only divisions then people would stop going and watch the cheaper local shows that the same guys are competing on.
Taylor has no ground game and his last performace was awful so he’s prettty much done while Kelly has been highlight reel KO’d a couple of times now, his biggest wins are over Taylor and Roli so he looks to be on his last legs. He might get one more fight but it’ll be a must win one, they might also feed him to one of the TUF LWs like Andre or Nick.
