UFC Quick Quote: Anthony Johnson promises a 'devastating' knockout against Josh Koscheck
"I'm going to knock him out -- no ifs, and or buts about it. Once he feels my first punch he'll know who he's fighting. I always connect, it could be my first punch. It could be my third punch, but one of the punches are going to connect and somebody is going to feel it and I guarantee it won't be me. I always give it my all every fight and get the knockout sooner or later. I'm going to have a even more devastating knockout with this fight then I did in my last fight. I want to continue my knockout streak and just be the best UFC fighter ever. If I have to keep doing that and knockout people to get that title I'll do it. I got a left fist and a right fist that will knockout anybody, if he wants to test my fist with his face. It will be my pleasure."
-- Anthony Johnson talks about his upcoming fight against Josh Koscheck during a recent video preview for UFC 106, sending a clear message that he is coming for the knockout. This fight will undoubtedly be the toughest test of Johnson's promising career. In fact, he will come in as a slight underdog to the veteran Koscheck, but his size and strength will play a big factor in the fight. Keep in mind that Johnson wrestled in college and it may come in handy against Koscheck, who has perhaps the best takedowns in the welterweight division. Who ya got?

He was at 185 pounds today
I saw a post on Twitter by Derek who interviewed him for Mania and he said he was at 185 pounds today, so he shouldn’t have trouble making the weight.

Koscheck thinks he’s a striker now. If he continues his trend of standing and exchanging with Rumble, he’s getting cracked. Even if he does wisely elect to go for the takedown, AJ may prove to be too big to get down without expending a ridiculous amount of energy. And keeping him there won’t be easy either.
Luckily, since this site is in bed with AKA, we’ll undoubtedly get about 17 warm and fuzzy Koscheck interviews and we’ll hear from Josh himself what strategy he’ll implement. Or maybe the interviewer will just give Kos a sloppy BJ while Josh reveals nothing of value, as per usual. Either way.

remember a lot of people are sleeping on the fact that AJ also has wrestled in College, which means he could have a good takedown defense and keep Kos standing through out the fight. If that does happen he has the advantage and could actually keep Kos away with a good jab, because he also has a 3 inch reach advantage.

this fight should stay standing..
i don’t think koscheck has the ability to keep it on the ground..
rumble has improved his tdd and all in all, isn’t too bad of a wrestle himself.. not to mention how quick he can scramble back to his feet, i see rumble picking apart koscheck till he lands that shot that puts him out..
smoke weed every day!~

can’t remember how poor Johnson looked against Wilson the second time around…and that he hasn’t really fought anyone with power or good wrestling,,,KOS UD

Mac
I got KOS in this one as well. This is quite a step up for Rumble, and I think it may be a little too soon. Can’t wait to see it though.

This stacks up badly for Kos
Obviously Kos has WAY more experience etc. and a really great team at AKA and is a fantastic wrestler, BUT looking at recent form, I have to say Rumble will take it. Rumble has won his last three fights by KO or TKO and Kos has been really hot and cold in recent fights, lets not forget he was not to long ago knocked out by Paulo Thiago, and before anyone says different, yes he was out and the ref was right to stop it. I was there I saw it first hand and have watched the footage since.
I just don’t think Kos has an answer, Rumble is a HUGE WW and is not a bad wrestler himself, He’ll be bigger than Kos and he will be hard to hold down. Plus, on the feet, Rumble beats him all day.

GSP has the best takedowns at WW.

Throw him in with Semtex
That’s if they both win their fights. That would be a fun fight to watch. Anyways I see Koscheck losing if he tries to be a boxer in this fight.

Bandwaggon
I’m totally going to get flamed for this but it needs to be said. I’m not sold on Rumble yet…he has some impressive wins over Burns, Luigi, and Yoshida…but this doesn’t automatically make him the next guy to dethrone the top WW’s in the UFC. He has some serious upside, but then again he’s never fought top competition. I know he’s better since he lost to Clementi, so I don’t need to hear that. I love how people think Rumble is the second coming when he talks so much trash that even Bisping thinks it’s over the top. I personally like the guy, but I will hold off judging him until he fights KOS. I think KOS takes this one all day…but I thought that about Swick as well.

I think people, myself included, are on his bandwagon because they see what he is capable of doing, not just what he has already done. since Brock took ill, I’m just not ready to really, fully commit to another set of nuts to swing on.

Understandable
I can’t argue that P-Dub, the kid has serious upside. This is a dangerous fight for KOS but I have to think that he can take it.

i NEVER thought iw ould say this….but i would love to see Kos put out the hype fire on Johnson. after the way Johnson came is super overweight against Yoshida, i’m not drinking the hype-kool-aid anymore.

Russel Peters fan?
Some of his quote reminds me of Russel Peters…but one of the punches are going to connect and somebody is going to feel it…It reminds me of somebody’s gonna get hurt real bad. I like how he says somebody, who else could it be other than Kos unless he’s going to start swinging at the ref.

Real test is the scales
Think Rumble is too big for Kos to take down and isnt as good of a striker as AJ. K.O in round 2 for rumble. Im only worried about him making weight, not the fight

Rumble by UD
Anyone who has seen rumble has to admit he is big, exlosive and has ko power.
Koss has explosive power but should be slighly overpowered and will be backing away and trying to counter with no luck, and AJ will connect more often, winning by UD.
Unless they come at each other like pit bulls, then it’ll be over in a few
minutes. Coin toss in that case.

Wow, a lot of people leaning towards Anthony Johnson.
My vote is for Koshcheck, I think he’s going to pull off the victory.
