UFC 105 weigh in results LIVE from Manchester for 'Couture vs Vera'
The official weigh-in event for UFC 105: "Couture vs. Vera" took place today (Nov. 13) from the Manchester Evening News (MEN) Arena in Manchester, England.
It was a rather pedestrian affair with all 22 fighters hitting their respective marks without incident.
Perhaps the only noteworthy takeaway from the event was the staredown between Dan Hardy and Mike Swick -- who have been building their welterweight fight up over the past few weeks.
Their staredown was intense.
UFC 105: "Couture vs. Vera" will feature a main event between former heavyweight champion, Randy "The Natural" Couture, returning to light heavyweight to battle Brandon "The Truth" Vera. In addition, hometown favorite Michael "The Count" Bisping will take on Pride FC standout, Denis Kang, in the co-featured fight of the night.
Welterweights Mike Swick and Dan Hardy are also booked to get busy inside the Octagon to help clarify the suddenly murky 170-pound number one contender situation.

MMA needs true high level strikers. Too bad, the money isnt near that of their own sport. Only high level Muay thai guys can stand to make more money but it would be easier to go to kickboxing than MMA. We always see BJJ and wrestling renaissances back and forth where big influxes of athletes come in from the respective sports in a weird cyclical manner but we never have had one involving “true” strikers.

If its to fight Fedor in March then its probably a guy thats known, but doesnt pose a real threat to Fedor
Introvert’s posts are gone too. Are we all to get 15-minute time-outs next? I also posted something really funny about Kyle Maynard’s future career options in another thread, and that’s gone too.
on the bright side
We can bash everything Intro says and the whole conversation will get deleted. Basically taking him out of the picture completely.
yeah
I said I’d watch that porn. Maybe we aren’t allowed to bash people or the whole string gets deleted. This isn’t going to be fun if they can continue to do stuff like that.
true
He has seemed more normal. I just like to mess with the guy. I feel sorry for him sometimes the way people talk to him. But he asks for it the way he talks to others. I like everyone on this site, you guys are funny and interesting.
I hope this didn’t take a lot of time to think of Intro. That was lame. This new format is hard to understand. And someone took my name before I could sign in.
change ain't easy
let me know if I can answer any questions about the format
we’ll be around today to help get y’all up + running

I don’t know how to get back to the main page. I don’t know who has posted recently. I couldn’t get the same name I use to use. I’m sure this will be much better once I’m use to it, but today isn’t going to be fun.
is this jay? dude, just add a period after your name to change it.

I don’t know how to get back to the main page.
At the top of the page just click the logo or ‘UFC blog’. At the bottom of a thread click the ‘MMA Mania’ link.
I couldn’t get the same name I use to use.
What was your original name over on Mania? I can find something closer if you’re not happy with your current variation.
I don’t know who has posted recently.

original name was just jay. Yes where is the recent comments box? If you can change my name back to original name that would be cool.
is jay w/ a period OK? like this: jay.
don’t have a recent comments box yet, but we can add that
one thing we do have is this: when you hit MMA Mania we show how many new comments have been posted on each story since the last time you visited. and when you open that thread they’ll be highlighted yellow. just hit the ‘z’ key to scroll to the latest unread comments.

This new format sucks ass. Now Mania looks like a clone of every other site. The old format was what made it good. I’m an old grandpa and I hate change.
GET OFF MY LAWN!!
C’mon grumpie! Get with the times…All sites are the same to me. Its the posters that make it fun

Here is my predictions:
Vera beats Couture
Kang beats Bisping
Swick beats Hardy
Brown beats Wilks
Riley beats Pearson.
I am going out on a limb here and predicting that none of the Brits are going to win their fights on the main card. I honestly feel that their opponents are simply better, but the ones that would be close for me would be Brown vs Wilks and Riley vs Pearson. I don’t think that Hardy is on Swick’s level, and Kang is simply more well-rounded than Bisping.
Not sure I agree with your analysis but we’ll see Saturday… I think only Hardy will struggle out of our boys…
Vera looks like he just got off a train from Auschwitz

bispings a bum!
lets see another knock out highlight reel! cant wait to see bispings curly toes and lifeless body on the mat again!
Why all the hate?
Whats up with all the hate on Bisping guys he is not a bad fighter likes to dance to much for my liking but he a top ten MW and I think he’ll be on a mission to redeem himself.
top 10 UFC MW
but not world…top 20 though
by McArthur... on Nov 13, 2009 12:34 PM EST up reply actions
Maybe a top 10 in the UFC not in the world
Bisping usually hovers around the 15 to 12 mark on most of the top 20 lists. He gets so much hate because he used to be so amazingly arrogant and did nothing to back it up. I think the hate for Bisping realy came foward after the Hammil fight and his post fight antics. God forbid he give some credit where credit was due. That was about the time I was utterly disgusted by him. I don’t think he can compete with the current top 10 that are in the UFC. Akiyama, Okami, Sonnen, Belfort, Maia, and Marquardt would all be entirely to much for him to deal with. I even think he would have his hands full with guys ranked lower then him like Belcher, DanMiller, Almeida, Goveia, Quarry, and Cote. But maybe that is just me and my grandiose distaste for him. He is a B level fighter that was to be made into the UK poster boy for mma. Thankfully the UK has a better representative in Dan Hardy!!!
