I like Big John and whatever the real story is, I do not think Dana has much of a say in weather or not Big John refs because if he did we know Il Mustache wouldn’t be reffing in the UFC lol.

Can Big John kiss up to the Dana and the UFC any more than that?? I like Big John reffing in the UFC, but my how we forget he’s made some bad calls in the past too. Just watch some old re-run fights and see.

He was the Affliction ref and he reffed for Elite XC. I’ve seen him a couple other times, but don’t remember where.

He really hasn’t stopped fights early from what I can remember. He looks out for the safety of the fighters and stops it so the fighter doesn’t take too much of a beating when he is already out. I like Big John a lot.
Look at some of the other UFC refs:
Steve Mazagatti is horrible. Look at Lesnar vs Mir 1, Velazquez vs Rothwell
Dan Mirgliata is horrible. Look at Kimbo Slice vs James Thompson, and Amir Sadollahs last fight.

I agree that Dana is keeping Big John out of the UFC. He pretends like it’s out of his control, but it is. I wish White would man-up and squash their beef. Even if he doesn’t like Big Jonh, the fact is that he is a damn good ref, the best ref. He’s good for mma and good for the ufc. Dana needs to do what’s best for the sport and realize that people aren’t going to see eye to eye with him on everything. Not only is Big John the best ref, but nobody sets off a fight or gets you that extra pump that John does with his “Let’s get it on!”

“Let’s get it on, come on!” This gets me pumped aswell regardless who’s actually fighting, no other judge comes even close producing the same emotional effect.
It’s scary how much of an impact a ref can have on the match, but I swear any fight with Big John is just that much more interesting and exciting solely due to his presence in the cage.
