MONDAY MORNING BLACK BELT*******
Those of you that are football fans get the title, those of you overseas, it’s funny, trust me!
I haven’t had much of a chance to give my thoughts on strikeforce’s event saturday, so bear with me:
Werdum and Silva was an OK fight, nothing special!
I’ll give credit where credit is due in the next two, Sokuju looked really good in the first round. He wasn’t as muscular and didn’t instantly gas! That said, Moussassi is the man. He is slowly but surely becoming one of my favorites and I personally can’t wait until he is in the UFC, probably sometime next year! Not that strikeforce doesn’t put on a good show, but there is so much more LHW competition for him to fight!
On to, in my opinion, the fight of the night! If you’re a one punch KO fan, you were probably bored during the Shields/Miller fight, but if you are into BJJ, it was a great fight. The back and forth up down and transitions in this fight were very impressive. I was in no way a Miller fan coming into this fight, and was a pretty big Shields fan/ By thew 3rd round I was rooting for Miller and really losing any respect or fandom I had left for Shields. His stand up is so bad that it’s actually pathetic, and for an elite BJJ black belt under a guy who’s only given out 2 or 3 black belts, he should be embarrassed at himself! He had numerous mounts and had Millers back too many times to count, and did nothing. 3 More seconds and he’s tapping and Miller wins. Yes, Jake won the fight, but he lost a lot of fans in the process! Also, I’m glad to see he’s no longer calling out GSP, GSP could come into a fight with Shields with a broken leg and would dominate him! You notice the only person interested in hearing him call out Cung Le was his butt buddy Gilbert Melendez? Jake lives and trains in the bay area, and I know for a fact has every opportunity to train at Andre Ward’s gym (the Diaz brothers do), try it out Jake! One last thing, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Jake, you’re not even the best MW in your camp. In a MW fight, Nick Diaz would make you look silly!
On to the main event. I don’t care what anyone says, Fedor was in trouble when Rogers was on top of him! In true Fedor fashion, he stayed calm and cool and won in great fashion! I don’t know where strikeforce goes from here. I for one have no interest in seeing Fedor/Werdum, I already know how that fight plays out! I truly don’t know who (other than Overeem) that strikeforce can throw at him and actually have a competitive fight.
I know a lot of you are jumping on Rogers for his post fight comments, and as you know, I’m old school and all about class and sportsmanship, that said, he’s never tasted defeat before. In the heat of the moment you got his true feelings. I’ll for one, give him a pass! He’ll go back and learn from this.
Overall a good night of fights, terrible color commentary, and too much nothing! When I say “too much nothing,” they try to fit in all this useless B.S. but we don’t get ring entrances, and 2 native Chicagoans actually got cut from the event. Yes they got their show money, but they didn’t get to compete after training to fight and didn’t get sponsorship money (which is reportedly higher than their show money). Also it ran 20 min over. PPV’s don’t go long, contractually they can’t! If you want to have a 3 hour show and compete with the UFC, then plan a 3 hour show, if not, plan your 2 hours better. I’m not into having to stream a main event online because I’m assuming the show won’t run into the news!
Good night of fights overall!

by kevin on Nov 10, 2009 12:04 AM EST up reply actions

True that. Diaz would just throw those pap-pap-pap punches at him and if it goes to the ground, well Diaz is a lizard. He lives and thrives on the ground.
As one poster here puts it, Shields is a non-harmful version of GSP. He could work you on the ground after 5 rounds and your face still comes out as fresh as Floyd Mayweather’s after a fight.

seatbelts save lives DANA !!!

by DaveTheGayGuy on Nov 9, 2009 4:05 PM EST reply actions

Wow…Cote is huge!!!!

Why is Dana at a photo shoot for “Fighter’s Magazine”? One would assume that a magazine with that name would take pictures of fighters.

Funny he didn’t blog himself watching the #1 fighter in the world continue to cement his legacy. Oh ya, Dana was watching UFC re-runs, and World’s Loudest Farting Contests on Spike.

by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 9, 2009 4:09 PM EST reply actions

Funny thing is that you even know what Spike is intro ohh yeah thats rights because of the UFC LOL.

by Puck Head on Nov 9, 2009 5:30 PM EST up reply actions

Well if he was watching the ufc reruns on spike he would be watching the best mma fighter on the planet cementing his legacy, anderson silva killing forrest griffin.

by mma guru on Nov 9, 2009 8:40 PM EST up reply actions

Silva making another top five look bad in two weight divisions thats a real pound for pound champ right now.

by Beaver on Nov 10, 2009 1:46 AM EST up reply actions

Spot on, though even I would rather watch live MMA than UFC repeats even if the p4p king is destroying Forrest again and the FOTY (Nog-Randy) is on the show. I’m getting those cards on DVD anyway so I can see those 2 fights any time I want.

by David W-S on Nov 10, 2009 10:13 AM EST up reply actions

What’s the story behind your name being “OJR is King”? I am assuming you lost a bet?

by RyanHobbs on Nov 10, 2009 4:33 AM EST up reply actions

1) why do fighters insist on getting fat when they are not fighting
2) these blogs are funny but I want fighter interaction
3) what happened to the after math of Machida vs Shogun blog? I mean we got as far as the weigh ins and then they stopped
4)I still have to praise Fedor for once again pulling out a win…it’s not Brock’s fault but it would have been perfect for him to be fighting in 2 weeks after Fedor’s big win…..Fedor is still number 1
I like this card and I’m looking for Vera to knock Randy out cold

by Robert(1) on Nov 9, 2009 4:11 PM EST reply actions

He did interact with the fighters like COte and “Shy Boy” Maynard. Love the Pink Floyd t-shirt!
And WTF was he doin’ way up the rafters in a Black Eyed Peas concert? He should be in front or backstage!

by The Negation on Nov 10, 2009 5:06 AM EST up reply actions

nice, i wish he would have showed the oens from UFC 104 the weigh in s and aftermath after the fights.

dont forget cote is comming off of surgery so he is out of shape

by rushfan on Nov 9, 2009 5:14 PM EST reply actions

Nog vs Cain OFFICIAL for UFC 108: Cain by 3rd round TKO! oh and the Sonnen vs Mardquardt fight sucks, Nate is gonna demolish him, Nate should be fighting a top tier fighter, not this guy!

by manalito on Nov 9, 2009 5:20 PM EST reply actions

Looking at the eligible fighters, it appears there will be 2 title fight on the Superbowl card seeing the already announces matches only seem to have 1, maybe 2 main card bouts. Hopefully the HW and MW titles are on the line.

by kilby06 on Nov 9, 2009 5:57 PM EST up reply actions

you’d think he could get better seats to the concert. i don’t even think he could SEE the black eyed pees or U2 from where he was sitting.

by kitsunex on Nov 9, 2009 5:55 PM EST reply actions

Dana sure seems to live a “charmed” fun life. I’d be interested to see an interview with his wife.

by Muscle Dolphin on Nov 9, 2009 6:30 PM EST reply actions

Danas married?Wow,i wonder how she responds to the excessive profanity that pours out of his mouth on a daily.I know its the fourth of july in his house when they disagree on the outcome of a fight.

by The Legacy on Nov 9, 2009 6:38 PM EST up reply actions

I’m guessing she has learned to deal with it, seeing as how she married the guy and all.

by Albow on Nov 9, 2009 8:00 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, I am sure she doesn’t give him too much trouble about cursing, seeing as she is living in a mansion, has a few cars, and tons of money.

by naturalshadow on Nov 10, 2009 12:54 AM EST up reply actions

After having watched the video I have a few quick things to say.
-Can Dana get someone other than a yes-man to do the camera work?
The constant laughing at nothing is distracting.
-Can Dana instead of going on man-dates with fat dudes to concerts not get to work and start signing some of the free agents that SF is gobbling up left and right?
-What the F happened to my boy Patrick Cote? It looked like he was smuggling hams under his shirt.
-Why is Lorenzo not the front man for Zuffa? Much better character and more likable to everyone.
-Dana should be followed and ticketed every time he gets in a car. He is an accident waiting to happen, not just in this Vlog.
-Who got Dana those tickets to see B.E.P’s? 4 more rows higher and he would have been in the parking lot.
-Dana is still a lucky MOFO.

by jay on Nov 9, 2009 7:05 PM EST reply actions

I can’t fucking believe Marquardt accepted that shitty fight, he deserves Silva or Vitor, noone else.

The guy is fucking 11-1 in his last 12 fights but the UFC just wont give him a break.

As a huge Marquardt fan im outraged, but i guess its easy money because he will smash Sonnen worse than he did Maia.

by Lester The Pimp on Nov 9, 2009 7:13 PM EST reply actions

he’s lost to Silva and Leites so theres two losses

by Dave on Nov 9, 2009 8:30 PM EST up reply actions

pick 10 top level HWs of this list…..oh wait you can’t…..yet fedor is the #1 ranked heavyweight in the world?

by TheDragon on Nov 9, 2009 8:20 PM EST reply actions

STFU!! no one needs to hear your wambo jumbo shyyt!

by JROK on Nov 9, 2009 8:57 PM EST up reply actions

What is the point of posting Fedor’s stats in the middle of a Dana White Video log thread? Do you think we don’t know how to find this list ourselves and you’ve saved us? A lot of guys he fought on this list aren’t top 10 today, but show us where they were ranked the day he fought them, that would be useful other than that you wasted your time.

by jay on Nov 9, 2009 9:20 PM EST up reply actions

Lol hopefully you copied and pasted all that

by Kayo on Nov 9, 2009 11:01 PM EST up reply actions

Mirko, Heath,Minotauro were all top heavyweights at the time they fought. Lindland, Arona, sobral were highly ranked at the time or prospects along with fedor. Lindland was actually number 2 or 3 ranked fighter at this time. Not to mention a list of not so former UFC champions. Ofcourse after a few years they wont be on top any more YOU MORON. You have to consider this list at the time. Do the same to ANderson Silva or GSP u UFC fag

by zack on Nov 9, 2009 11:41 PM EST up reply actions

LOL there is only two top fives on his padded list zack sounds like M1 and the hype machine are the modern day Don Kings.

by Beaver on Nov 10, 2009 1:49 AM EST up reply actions

Wow that is a who who of a list! Good post!

by Robbo on Nov 10, 2009 7:50 AM EST up reply actions

At the time of the fight I had AA ranked 5th and alot of guys on here picked him to win
Cro Cop at the time was top 5
Nog def top 3
At the moment Rogers was highly spoken of and considered a dangerous fighter
Are there any more questions?

by Robert(1) on Nov 10, 2009 8:10 AM EST up reply actions

Gutted I’m stuck at uni all week, it means I can’t see the weigh-ins or follow Dana around for free stuff.

Cote has done a Hatton what a state he is in, only noticed because of you lot pointing it out, I actually though the guy in a red shirt was another overweight fan.

Concert would have been better if Dana had decent seats, BEPs and U2 are both quality groups. Shame you could barely see them, funny that Dana’s attempt to get free tickets failed miserably.

Couldn’t give a toss about skateboarding or BMX, I don’t consider either a sport and I’ll never understand the point of either of them.

by David W-S on Nov 9, 2009 8:48 PM EST reply actions

Glad to see Pat “The Predator” Cote back in the spotlight. Anybody know what hat he’s wearing? Looks pretty cool.
