Strikeforce weigh in results LIVE from Hoffman Estates for 'Fedor vs Rogers'

The official weigh-in event for Strikeforce: "Fedor vs. Rogers" took place today (November 6) live from the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
As usual, MMAmania.com was on the scene to get the scoop on all the happenings and aside from Dustin Neace, there was very little in the way of fireworks between any of the competitors, who all hit their respective marks without incident.
Neace weighed in at 150.5 on his first attempt, 150 on his immediate second attempt and 149.6 on his final attempt after an hour of trying to squeeze out those last few pounds.
In spite of his inability to hit his 145-pound mark, opponent Jeff Curran has agreed to a catchweight fight at 149.6 pounds. Neace will be forced to cough up 20-percent of his fight purse to "The Big Frog."
Here are the complete "Fedor vs. Rogers" weigh-in results:

Anybody know if there will be a stream and where to get it?

Inside MMA on HD NET will be broadcasting live from the weigh-ins. .. If you dont have HD NET this site might have it — http://channelsurfing.net/ ive watched a few W.E.C Cards from that site and it works really well.

I haven’t seen it, but if it will be shown on HDnet, then it will stream on justintv.
off topic, but I was thinking last night, when the betting line for Kimbo/Houston Alexander comes out, we gamblers will possibly get Houston as an underdog or close to even money. Before you say I’m nuts or stupid, that doesn’t mean he’ll win (Kimbo by being a favorite), betting lines (for those who don’t know) are put up so that a bookie/casino will get equal money wagered on both sides so that they make 10% (the vig) on all losing bets and pay the winners with the losers. That said, Kimbo and his online/thug following may actually benefit us hardcore fans in that we’ll get a great price on Houston!
by kevin on Nov 6, 2009 3:46 PM EST up reply actions
Kimbo’s chin is questionable and his power is ridiculously overrated. No one thinks you’re nuts. Regardless of the lines, like you said, plenty of clueless people to move the lines if they start close to or at even money.

Cung Le vs. Scott Smith. Here is the rest of the card s far:
SF showtime December show:
- Cung Le vs. Scott Smith
- Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal vs. TBA
- Josh Thomson vs. TBA
- Matt Lindland vs. Ronald “Jacare” Souza
- Robbie Lawler vs. TBA
Aoki could be thomson’s opponent!

The Le fight is a setup. People will give Scott Smith a chance but we all know how soft his body is and the body work that Cung does. Cung Le sucks but he will force Smith to quit just like Robbie made him and Pete almost did too. Btw i’ve always said that Cung is the most overrated fighter and sucks and wouldn’t make it in the UFC. Alas This fight is only gonna prolong the nonsensical hype created by his flashy kicks even among supposed hardcore fans.

Why waste Cung’s fight back on Smith anyway? What is with people thinking Scott Smith is skilled? He’s Kimbo in a white pasty small shell.

Kimbo has heart…You take that back, lol. How could you say Kimbo doesn’t have heart? He is the laughing stock of MMA and continues to put himself out on a limb, he fights for his family’s future and he is picking up a very dangerous and competitive sport past his athletic prime. Kimbo may have no ground game or chin but he is definitely not lacking in the heart department.

Is anybody buying the next couple PPVs? Cuz i have never not bought one, and i am seriously considering not buying any all the way up to passed 108. I could deconstruct them and make my point why but that would just get me pretty depressed. This Strikeforce Card has more interesting matchups than all the next couple UFCs except for possibly BJ Penn and Sanchez. I am losing hope in my passion as a UFC fan and Hardcore MMA fan. Honestly if Strikeforce wasnt doing this card i dont know what i would do.
by Sky on Nov 6, 2009 3:07 PM EST reply actions
I’m getting 107 (BJ/Diego) and 105’s free (thank God) but I may skip 106. I’ve bought every UFC for the past 3-4 years as well, but I agree with you that they’re starting to stretch their talent a little too thin with all these PPVs. I mean I’m all for having lots of fights to watch, but it’d be cool if they’d only charge $25 for some of these non-title-bout PPVs. And if they’d televise the prelims on Spike and keep reminding viewers that the PPV was only $25, they may actually make more money on the deal, while also keeping their fans happy.
by just some dong on Nov 6, 2009 9:29 PM EST up reply actions
Agree with both posts. I am seriously considering not getting them either. But I’ve said that a few times and always end up getting it. These cards are getting watered down though with Lesnar, Machida, GSP and Anderson Silva all hurt or sick. 4 out of 5 champs on the shelf, not cool.
by jay on Nov 6, 2009 9:33 PM EST up reply actions
yeah but if you think about other sports talent being injured it sucks too, just the others are free on tv and others make up for them
by randy murders on Nov 6, 2009 10:19 PM EST up reply actions
Exactly my point randy, If the fights were on free tv I wouldn’t say a word. I haven’t complained at all about 105 because it is free, even though the card is weak. 106 is Griffen/Ortiz I can’t see myself paying 50 bucks to see that again.
by jay on Nov 6, 2009 10:35 PM EST up reply actions
Even free fights still use up talent that could stack PPV cards. They’re still spreading too thin. They seem to be able to put together 12 good cards a year, but by trying to shut out SF, Dana has scheduled 4 main UFC cards and a TUF Finale in 8 weeks! Even without the injuries, the UFC can’t keep that kind of pace and still give us the quality we’re used to. They need to slow their roll! One card a month gives me something to look forward to, esp when most of them are great. But 2-3 cards a month is overkill and makes me start to care less, esp when crappers like Vera are headlining cards.
by shonuff on Nov 7, 2009 9:26 AM EST up reply actions
I’m skipping 106, getting the rest, I don’t mind weak cards but I do mind getting ripped off, Tito and Forrest has no implications on the 205 belt and its a waste of time
by Robert(1) on Nov 6, 2009 11:09 PM EST up reply actions
I will say that strike force has done an excellent job to the casual mma fan of making this card interesting. The fact that they can push the Fedor Rogers fight as a close match up is simply amazing. Other than the punchers chance Rogers will not be in this fight long at all very much a tim sylvia looking beat down awaiting the grim. Silva vs. Werdum is the only quality matchup on this card imo. The Gregard Vs. Sokowho match is recockulous way past redicolous this is a gimme for the dream catcher. Jason MTV Miller while entertaining will put up a fight with shields but that has no damage decision written all over it. Bring on Overeem so you can give Fedor his title already.

Are they fighting in a ring or is Fedor finally going to fight in a Cage?
by Hammer on Nov 6, 2009 5:00 PM EST reply actions
Thank God everybody is finally getting rid of the stupid ring!!! Rings are fine for standup-only sports but plain assinine for MMA. Always having fighters falling out of the ropes or getting tangled in them and having to be dragged back to the center. I never understood why PRIDE and AFFLICTION couldn’t grasp the stupidity of having MMA in a ring!

If you live in the area you can get tickets at great prices. I just went to the box office at the Sears Centre and got $300 seats for $100. Ticketmaster doesn’t show these seats and has them still for the full price. So, if you’re in the area get them!!!

Whats the betting on fedor falling apart inside the cage just like cro cop. The cage sorts the men from the boys.
by Stonecold on Nov 6, 2009 5:13 PM EST reply actions
That, I would love to see. I think there are just as many people tuning in to see if that happens as there are diehard Fedor fans hoping to see a predictable pummeling put on Rogers.
by just some dong on Nov 6, 2009 9:34 PM EST up reply actions
The cage had nothing to do with CroCop’s demise. The cage is actually better for GnP guys so if anything, it will help Fedor.
by shonuff on Nov 7, 2009 9:40 AM EST up reply actions
This may be a little off topic but instead of rothwell fighting cro cop, would you rather see rothwell vs buentello? Sounds like a pretty solid slug fest. I would also like to see Yvel and Kongo have a rematch. I am not sure if Yvel is confirmed in the UFC or not though.
by RyanHobbs on Nov 6, 2009 5:18 PM EST reply actions
He got a 1 fight license to fight for the UFC, no idea who he’s fighting though.
by David W-S on Nov 6, 2009 11:00 PM EST up reply actions
Whoever it is better wear safety goggles!!! Yvel is a dirty eye-gouging asshole. The UFC better keep him on a very short leash and give their refs a heads-up and Yvel a 1-time-and-you’re-out warning. I hate frakkin cheaters, and that prick was two knuckles deep into Don Frye’s eye sockets and scratched his face all to hell trying to pop his peepers out! He does the same thing every time he gets in trouble on his back or in the clinch. Cowardly bitch!
by shonuff on Nov 7, 2009 9:47 AM EST up reply actions
Oh and I think that Rogers is going to get dropped by Fedor. I think that the only reason that Arlovski was beating Fedor in the stand up was because of his technical striking. I don’t think Rogers is as technical as Arlovski. Maybe more powerful though. Rogers has a punchers chance. I would like to see Rogers with this fight but I just think Fedor will move too quickly like he did with Tim Sylvia.
by RyanHobbs on Nov 6, 2009 5:21 PM EST reply actions
Agreed. I haven’t seen Rogers fight enough to know what he is capable of, but smart money goes on Fedor(obviously).
by jay on Nov 6, 2009 6:12 PM EST up reply actions
@ -500??? smart money is on Rogers at +400. you non gamblers have no clue about value in betting! You’d rather put up 500 to win 100 or 100 to possibly win 400? I’ll put the “smart money” on Rogers
by kevin on Nov 6, 2009 6:21 PM EST up reply actions
It’s only “smart” if you win.
by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 6, 2009 7:19 PM EST up reply actions
no, not from a gamblers prospective. 100 is my normal bet on anything, 100 would win me 20 bucks on Fedor or 400 on rogers, win or lose, tell me where the smart money is?
by kevin on Nov 6, 2009 7:21 PM EST up reply actions
kevin the term smart money means the bet that will win. It has nothing to do with odds and pay outs. Smart bet or smart money is Fedor. That is why the odds are so horrible. Because all the smart people have already made their bets on a sure thing. For a gambler you don’t seem to know much about terminology.
by jay on Nov 6, 2009 7:47 PM EST up reply actions
Betting 100 dollars on Fedor will get you 120 dollars. Betting 100 dollars on Fedor will get you 0 dollars. Now where is the smart money going?
by jay on Nov 6, 2009 7:52 PM EST up reply actions
Change that second Fedor to Grim and you get the point.
by jay on Nov 6, 2009 7:52 PM EST up reply actions
how does 100 get you 120 when betting on fedor? he’s -500. 100 gets you 20, but you’re gonna lecture me, someone who gambles everyday about wagering? why would you ever risk 5 times what ud win on mma where anything can happen, it’s not like football or basketball where a huge money line always wins. Go ask a real gambler: BOW, stinky etc who they bet on, my guess is Rogers because he pays. always remember Jay, RISK VS. REWARD, Fedor has no reward, so I’ll take the risk!
by kevin on Nov 6, 2009 7:59 PM EST up reply actions
Kev, you get the 100 back that you bet, I meant you win 20 bucks but you get paid 120, know what I mean? If someone is going to put 100 bucks on a losing ticket that is fine by me. Someone has to pick Rogers right? But the conversation was about ‘smart money’ and I stand by the fact that it is smarter and the odds of winning at all are better picking Fedor. And Fedor does have a reward, it is called getting your original bet back and the small amount of profit. Sounds better than a 100 dollar piece of useless paper you are going to be stuck with Sunday Morning. Cheers Kevin.
by jay on Nov 6, 2009 9:42 PM EST up reply actions
jay, last ppv did 475k (figures aren’t hard to get
jeff, ojr is from chicago and trust me, this event isn’t in chicago
and finally jay, I do understand your point about “smart money” call me crazy, I’ll take my “worthless paper” sunday morning getting 4-1 over getting a 20% return on a 100 any day of the week. it’s not a stock purchase, it’s 100 bucks!
by kevin on Nov 7, 2009 1:17 AM EST up reply actions
Kevin, hell yeah it’s 100 bucks! And there’s an 80%+ chance that you’re flushing that 100 bucks straight down the toilet! How is that a “smart” bet??? Bro, if you’ve got 100 bucks to flush don’t give it to some rich bookie, send it to me, so I can afford tickets to finally see a live event when BJ/Sanchez when it comes to town next month. That’s a smart bet cause you’ll know there’s 100% chance your C-note went to a good cause instead of an 80% chance that some mafia dude is wiping his ass with it.
by shonuff on Nov 7, 2009 10:00 AM EST up reply actions
kids kids, a smart bet means that you get more. If Fedor loses, who would look smart, the ones that gained $400! You won’t look smart if you gain $20 out of a Fedor bet because it’s a sure win!
by Syd on Nov 7, 2009 7:46 PM EST up reply actions
So a smart bet and a long shot are the same thing now? A smart bet is when you have the best chance of getting any thing back in return. When Fedor wins(which he will) who looks smart? The guy with a 20% profit or the guy who wasted 100 bucks on a 1 in 5 chance?

This card is effin’ siiiickk. I be der. Can’t wait yo.
This card on paralell, is better than most “free” UfC cards on Spike, which are almost always on tape delay from some Euro-nation; (nuck nuck, get it?) and generally don’t feature a title bout. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate free fights whenever, but it appears Strikeforce is trying to come across as legit with this card. No depth at all in any division, but they will make a good showing for 1 night at least.
Anyway, for real though, this card is effin sick. Can’t wait to see it live and in person.

I think that many people are underestimating the magnitude of this event. Just think back 5 years ago…if someone were to tell you that Fedor is going to be fighting on CBS on a Saturday night….nobody would believe it.
This is huge for MMA.
And it does not matter if Fedor wins or loses (as far as SF’s future is concerned)…of course it would matter for Fedor. But for SF….Rogers is a marketable guy. Not to get all racial or anything (I’m not like that)…but, the black dude from the tire shop may just beat arguably the best fighter to ever live?….that scenario = huge ratings.
Lose, lose for Fedor though. If he wins…he was supposed to. If he loses….watch for ten million “overrated” comments on every message board in site.
This is epic for MMA.
by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 6, 2009 7:05 PM EST reply actions
agree and disagree intro! Fedor makes a lot of money and isn’t marketable, thats a lose for strikeforce, and it’s tough to market someone who has no footage (UFC own it all). I also think strikeforce has dropped the ball on this event: Mousassi= top 5, Shields= top 5 and Miller= popular due to bully beatdown, yet they didn’t hype the fights at all.
As far as Rogers, win or lose a competitive match up, i agree, is very marketable!
add Dan Henderson to get Moussassi after he dominates sokujo and thats counted as a win too!
by kevin on Nov 6, 2009 7:25 PM EST up reply actions
Your’re completely off buddy. Chicago is a hotbed of MMA, leads all other cities/areas for PPV buys for UFC. Sears Centre is a brand spankin new arena, that fits what Strikeforce does perfectly, about 12,000. Is the capacity. Perfect, not to big, not too small.
Chicago is gonna rock the doors off the cage tomorrow.
