sweet pics! rogers for the upset, mayhem for the upset, silva for the upset and gegard will just be gegard

Is Mayhem really the underdog? I think hes more well rounded than Shields.

by Pha Q on Nov 5, 2009 4:11 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yes he is, Mayhems a bum. Even twinkle fairy beat his ass

by BMO on Nov 5, 2009 4:14 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

with footstomps if gsp slipped i could probably ko him, footstomps add an unfair advantage and without them mayhem wouldnt have got ko’d by trigg.

by Jared on Nov 5, 2009 4:42 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

dead on Jared.

by Jimmycrackcorn on Nov 5, 2009 6:05 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yeah and even trigg’s stand up is better then shields

by JG on Nov 5, 2009 6:24 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Laying some $$ on Mayhem, +220 is way too good to pass given that Shields don’t even belong at 185.

Renzo Gracie is going to sign with the UFC***

by john G on Nov 5, 2009 8:27 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Great news, didn’t think Renzo would fight again nevermind in the UFC. Doubt he’ll ever rematch Shamrock now. He may be past his prime but at least he was good in his heyday, unlike Baroni who’s always been dreadful.

by David W-S on Nov 5, 2009 8:46 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

wish renzo wouldve signed a few years ago, when he was in his prime, wouldn’t beat any top dogs but could still be a good gatekeeper

by Jared on Nov 5, 2009 10:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

The renzo signing is obviously to rekindle the Gracie-Hughes saga. “The cousin of Royce comes to avenge him blah blah blah…”- I think he’ll catch a slick guillotine on hughes. It’s the same with DREAM, the way they’re hoping to get Ralek or (insert name of a gracie) to fight the Gracie Hunter. That one i actually care to see because it was a meaningful and beautiful storyline in the history of MMA. The hughes-gracie fight was simply an expected beatdown for anyone who knew anything.

Grim is looking at Marloes like he just finished having his way with her in his mind. “You like that MArloes, you like little Grim!” Anyway maybe went to far there, but she is so sexy. She has great eyes, but could afford a little thinning of the eyebrows much like Denise Richards.

Yeah I know mma math doesn’t always work, but if Jacare didn’t sub Miller and that is the basket that Shields puts all of his eggs in, I don’t see how he wins this. I think in the stand up Miller is going to beat him like Ike did Tina. Miller is way to experienced and smart I think to get caught in a lot of Shields subs. Jacare is I think the far superior grappler and has much better standup then Shields. If by some crazyness Shields walks thru Miller then he needs to fight Jacare, Gegard, and if he survives he needs to come to the UFC and start fighting the big boys. Even if he beats Miller he should head over to begin his UFC career. Is there any reason that anyone knows of why he has not already been picked up by the UFC? Have they made him offers?

by Da Monkey on Nov 6, 2009 9:37 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I really hope Rogers KO’s Fedor. It would be a beautiful thing to see it happen on national TV. Mayhem looks like a complete TOOL! I still would like to see him keep it on the feet and beat Shields.

Agree Agree Agree. War Rogers & Mayhem!

by Irishmikey on Nov 5, 2009 4:13 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I’m really looking forward to this event, it’s (on paper) better than the last few UFC events and looking better than the next few too! I bet 100 on rogers as a 4-1 underdog… Just in case!
all my homies, don’t text results, it’s not on until 8 my time!!

by kevin on Nov 5, 2009 4:28 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I completely agree that this event is better than the UFC events as of late, and the ones to come real quick here. I haven’t even been watching the PPV’s lately because i’ve been dissapointed in the cards that have been put together.

by LJ on Nov 5, 2009 4:42 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t know if they are better than the last UFC, I know that with the UFC we are getting good fights no matter the matchups, good production, and decent commentators.

I mean this sound like a great card but Strikeforce somehow always disappoints, for example randleman vs whitehead, lindland against anyone, and so on. Also their production is just bad, cheesy WWE entrances, bad music, horrible announcer, and the commentators are some of the worst in the game, Renallo is an idiot, Shamrock is too old to be wearing braces, the main guy don’t get me started he lost my respect when he said stupid things like Petruzelli beating Kimbo was like Rocky beating Mr. T in rocky III.

by fmx on Nov 5, 2009 5:57 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Not a bad bet Kev. I hope that you put a 100 on Big Foot also?

by Alpha Male on Nov 5, 2009 6:01 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yea kev, bigfoot has way more value. Parlay with miller can get you a juicy multiplier. But i agree this card is surprisingly good. I am more interesting in seeing if Fedor’s style turns even more vicious in a cage since his tendencies and movement seem better fitted for a cage. Undercard though is sh!tty. Glad they managed to salvage the girl fight too even though everyone here hates on them.

by NameNotRequired on Nov 5, 2009 6:24 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I already can’t wait for the winner of Fedor/Rodgers to face Overreem. This is just a great card and Strikeforce is really starting to impress with their talent lineup. One of the best non-UFC cards in recent memory.

by just some dong on Nov 5, 2009 6:25 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

obcourse its better ……thats what happenes when you only have 2-3 big cards a year

by JG on Nov 5, 2009 6:25 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

good point JG.
alpha, I emailed you!

by kevin on Nov 5, 2009 6:28 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

honestly boys, I dont remember the last time I was this excited over an mma card! This card is not only historic and filled with top level fighters, but there are some very competitive match ups that are really relevant to the mma rankings!

Fedor, Grim, and Big John in the same cage, has me all giggly!

I honesty cant remember the last time I was so excited over a UFC card! Props to strikeforce, showtime,CBS and yes…M-1!!!!

by john G on Nov 5, 2009 7:53 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

JG: well considering the fact that SF will have had 3 cards just from October-the end of decenmber, I would say that your statement is bullshit!

by john G on Nov 5, 2009 7:56 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

To be fair to M-1 they got the UK TV deal sorted, even if the promotion for it sucked at least it means I don’t have to rely on the net to see non-UFC MMA.

My only complaint about this card is that SF don’t show prelims to fill the broadcast, so if all of the fights end early then the show does, at least the UFC keep putting on fights even if the main card didn’t last long, it makes the show seem more professional and organised.

by David W-S on Nov 5, 2009 8:50 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

David, Strikeforce’s website says they’re airing the prelims 2 hours before the main card begins:

http://strikeforce.com/events/

So get cozy – it’ll be a long night of fights!

by just some dong on Nov 5, 2009 9:01 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Damn it SF, give me something to moan about. Seriously they’ve done a great job, putting on a sick card that is televised in the UK and they’re showing the prelims, I take all complaints back. Can’t wait for this card, finally finished my uni assignments so it has my attention now. Sick weekend for fights, SF, Sengoku and Haye-Valuev.

by David W-S on Nov 5, 2009 10:15 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

David – who do you have in Haye-Valuev? Though he’s got the power and can throw, i question Haye’s chin. Also everyone is always on Valuev’s size but the man can box. If Haye can’t upset him (which i don’t think he will), HW division turns even more boring and sh!ttier. Unless Adamek can a get a solid win or two at HW and challenge one of the Klitchkos within the next year.

Rogers has a chance, but Fedor stands to win this fight.

Mayhem is overrated, and he’s not that highly thought of in the first place. He’s gonna get rolled. And his show just got canceled. Tough times for Mayhem (who is a douche).

by Craig on Nov 5, 2009 4:16 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

what is the strategy for Fedor? Drop and go under the legs, then rear choke?

Marloes looks pretty cute

by Zim on Nov 5, 2009 4:25 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Truth, but she’s gonna lose to Roxanne Modafferi IMO.

by ShaiZ (Omg Shogun lost a close decision!) on Nov 5, 2009 9:24 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Fedor is the greatest and will find a way to win. Shileds will take out Miller. I hate MIllers whole show he puts on. Gegard will win and Werdum will win.

by James S on Nov 5, 2009 5:34 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

A joke, like a trick or treat halloween drug deal. Look, FEdor and Rogers look like they’re about to burst out laughing.

by The Negation on Nov 5, 2009 6:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Should be a good night of free fights on TV then we get another free event next week followed by a PPV the week after sweet! Let’s see if Grim can keep this standing it will interesting to see thats for sure. I think Werdum is the second best fighter at Strikforce and if Fedor wins like expected as does Werdum I would like to Fedor take on Overeem and Werdum to take on AA winners meeting in the end.

by Puck Head on Nov 5, 2009 4:33 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

fedor usually cleans up on larger slower fighters. id still like to see him fight anderson or vitor.

Fedor over Rogers Rd 1 Sub RNC (Will play out a lot like the Timmeh fight)

by mmafan204 on Nov 5, 2009 4:42 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, this is probably the right call. Fedor’s too much for Rogers, too much for most really.

by Drake_Labatt on Nov 5, 2009 4:59 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Except for Brock, who will be too much for him. Unless Brock’s chin is really not as strong as advertised.

by The Negation on Nov 5, 2009 6:59 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Fedor by sub
Shields by sub
Mousasi by sub
Bigfoot by decision

On a side note, I believe Bigfoot may be the most underrated HW in the sport right now, and he would give Fedor his toughest test (assuming, of course, Fedor beats Grimm)

by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 5, 2009 4:47 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I disagree intro, silva hasn’t yet really impressed me!

by kevin on Nov 5, 2009 5:13 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I can’t see Werdum losing to Bigfoot either other than that I agree with your picks intro I have mousasi by TKO though.

by Beaver on Nov 5, 2009 9:48 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

if he can beat werdum it should prove his place in the hw devision. i still see miller beating jake.

by roy on Nov 5, 2009 5:18 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Same here, although I think Grim will look good and put Fedor in trouble. Silva-Werdum is tough to call, I’m going with Antonio because the BJJ skills of both will be negated and he is the bigger and stronger fighter, plus Werdum’s striking is poor. Depends on which one comes into the fight in better shape, I’ll be interested to see the weigh ins.

by David W-S on Nov 5, 2009 6:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t know I think Fedor is going to come out aggressive like he did against Tim to open up a takedown to test Rogers skills on the ground Fedor is the best against fighters that make mistakes once he pounces he doesn’t hold up against NOG you could tell he was frustrated but even when he gets aggressive he is very well trained and rarely give his opponent a opening and is able to let up and re-evaluate the situation before attacking again. I hope the grim is able to stay calm and make this a fight but with all the hype and adrenline I just can’t help and see him get over aggressive and make a mistake were Fedor will make him pay.

by Beaver on Nov 6, 2009 12:05 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

by horny for mma on Nov 5, 2009 5:25 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Because he’s thinking, “I can’t believe I’m about to make a couple million dollars for three minutes worth of work against this bum.” Or however you say it in Russian.

THIS IS A GREAT CARD AND ITS FREE!!!!! UFC BETTER START PUTTING ON SOME BETTER CARDS AND MAKE THEM FREE AS WELL! DANA NEEDS TO STOP BEING SO DAM MONEY HUNGRY AND GIVE BACK MORE TO THE FANS!

SO TRUE nicky… STRIKEFORCE WILL CONSISTENTLY PUT ON MORE INTRIGUING MATCH-UPS DUE TO THEIR ALLIANCES WITH OVERSEAS PROMOTIONS… THE UFC WILL HAVE TO CONTINUE TO BUILD UP FIGHTERS TO KEEP UP WITH STRIKEFORCE AND THEIR OWN MONTHY SHOWS…

by DADEAL on Nov 5, 2009 7:47 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

The UFC needs a network deal now. MY house has bought every UFC event for the last 3 years. After the last 3 average events we decided to only buy events that have a title on the line and at least 2 other good fights. The UFC PPV bubble has burst IMO. A network deal is a must!!!

by CANADA Michael on Nov 5, 2009 8:10 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

They usually have three or four free cards a year like the one next week you get five buddies and that 10 bucks each? the fight a almost always evenly matched and the less popular fight usualy tend to be some of the best fight out their. this card should be exciting to but your right it will be nice to see if Dana can keep his word that we will se the UFC on network TV next year I can imagine their first network event will be awsome and set all kinds of records.

by Beaver on Nov 5, 2009 9:46 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

hate to say it… but i think dana is in a holding pattern. strikeforce are putting on a great card now… let’s see if they are broke this time next year.

Fedor will finish Rogers inside of 3 minutes and everyone will be saying that Rogers was a can.

He’s either going to tee off on Roger’s head in the feeling out process or he’s going to clinch up early and get him down and sub him with relative ease.

Roger’s only chance is a home run strike in the first exchange, because I believe Fedor will try to hit a few times before it goes to the ground.

Fedor all day all night and into next week. Werdum will be a much more realistic competitor for him. At least he has a ground game. Rogers will be so out of his league on the ground it’s gonna be laughable.

by revjames13 on Nov 5, 2009 11:21 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Fedor by obliteration.
Miller by the skin of his teeth.
Big foot by head kick.
And Mousasi by triangle.

by scissorfight on Nov 5, 2009 11:53 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I predict Fedor is gonna win this fight. The Skill emelianenko has and experience, speed, Rogers is gonna have his first lost on his record. Brett is not that much bigger than Fedor, i mean look at fedors arms and shoulder length he’s as wide as Rogers. Theirs only height disadvantage but hey fedor proved that height dosen’t mean shit.
