UFC 108: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs Cain Velasquez in the works for Jan. 2

Former UFC interim heavyweight champion and mixed martial arts legend, Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira, is in talks to take on undefeated rising star Cain Velasquez at UFC 108, which is slated for the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Jan. 2.

Sensei Sportv (via Tatame.com) was the first to report the potential showdown. No official announcement has come from the promotion, or Velasquez's camp, at this time.

Stay tuned.

UFC 108 is expected to feature a reshuffled main event between ailing heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar (if he can recover from a serious illness), and number one division contender, Shane Carwin. Former 205-pound champion, Rashad Evans, is currently penciled in to collide with Brazilian slugger, Thiago Silva, in the co-featured fight of the night.

yes this is great news war NOG!!! i hope he taps cain the fock out!! i dont think Valesquez can hang with Nog’s boxing skills, and if it hits the mat…who better to finish it then Nog??

Nog get a title shot after this no doubt. Would love to see him take out Lesnar.

I think Nog should be fighting for the title first, but I know he wants to stay busy while waiting for Lesnar/Carwin to sort things out. Cain is going to regret taking this fight!! Nog is going to completely out-class him on the feet, then completely school him on the ground. Nog by SUB.

Yeah regardless of how I feel about Either fighter (love nog and hate Cain) this should be a good fight and finally let us see where Cain is actually at. If, and it is a BIG IF, Cain man handles Nog then I will have to shut my mouth about the being overrated thing but I will probably never stop the bashing of his tattoo.

easy there. They’re def made of one of those, but not all. He hits hard enough to leave little hickie-like marks on his opponents faces. I think this is an awesome fight for Cain, even though I believe he’ll lose. It’s time for him to fight someone better than he is. It will help him reach the next level.

NOG looked fantastic against Randy. He’ll have the better stand-up and jitz forsure but he won’t be able to stop the takedown.

NOG will fight the majority of the match from his back and UNLESS he can pull a sub from the bottom (he won’t sweep Cain) then i’m going to go out on a limb and say,

Velasquez by Unanimous Decision.

With Brock out until February it should be Carwin/Cain for the number 1 contendership.

Let NOG fight Gonzaga.

by SoCalStunNa on Nov 4, 2009 7:36 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

what r u talking about jin…Cain’s first loss? he has no KO power to begin with and what will he do to Nog on the ground??? nothing! Nog for the win and then bring on rematch with Mir (after he destroys Kongo)… winner gets Brock!

by kevin on Nov 4, 2009 7:38 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Gotta disagree with the Mir tip. Kongo is gonna trounce him out of the UFC. If he caught a very talented wrestler like cain closing in to clinch, then i doubt he’ll have any issues putting it on someone who’s idea of a takedown is hopping, bending over and running forward with hands out. Let’s just hope he doesn’t dive into mir’s guard.

by NameNotRequired on Nov 5, 2009 12:31 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Correct. There is a big chance that Kongo fight might the last big Mir fight we will ever see. If you get Koed by Ian Freeman, Marcio Cruz, and Brandon Vera, you will get KTFO by Kongo. We’ll see the “improved standup” Mir self-proclaims to have acquired.

Whoever thinks Nog is gonna destroy Cain is a complete MMA noob who tries to sound like a hardcore fan by rooting for Nahg (UFC noobs call him Nahg and not Nog).

Cain is young and hungry. Nahg is past his prime. The win against Randy doesn’t prove shit. If Mir can KO Nahg, then so can Cain. Nog’s chin is gone.

However, I’ve too realized that Cain’s ground and pound is not Fedorish. It’s more peppering.

I love Nog. I respect him. But his days are gone. Dos Santos will carry the torch. Dos Santos vs Cain would of been a better match. But NO! Dana wants to milk them by building superstars out of them and then setting them up for a big match, while paying them only 100k (they get paid 60k now). Dana is a conartist!

by NameNotRequired on Nov 4, 2009 11:20 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I like this fight on every level. Nog keeps busy and a win should earn him a title shot. No need to waste time on a revenge fight vs Mir. As for Cain, this is his shot to establish himself among the elite in the division. We’ll find out who is he. As for the fight, it should play well to Nog’s strengths and he’s a clear favorite. However, Cain’s stamina and pace are very dangerous and we know he’ll come to fight. Good matchmaking.

by CL on Nov 4, 2009 11:51 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

LOL at the method of beating Cain john. Outclassing is the perfect gameplan to execute against Cain’s pillow punches.

Let’s put it this way, Minotauro is so grizzled a vet, that there’s nothing in Cain;s arsenal that he hasn’t seen before. So there you go. Nogueira FTW. No upsets here.

that is how nog pronounces randy’s name, he says ‘handy’

lol nog won’t sweep cain is a good joke. I couldn’t believe how easy nog swept randy

i think cain will either win by UD or nog gets the sub from the bottom or catches valasques with an arm in when he attempts the take down

i am praying for a nog victory

nog has taken way more punishing punches than those marshmallows cain throws. i think nog will do his usual and catch an arm from on his back. nog by sub 3rd round.

by john G on Nov 4, 2009 8:58 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

NOG’s ONLY impressive win in the UFC was against Randy.

He looked AWEFUL against lard sack Sylvia and Herring. I won’t mention the Mir fight because of staph but you get my point.

He might have been able to sweep randy but Cain is younger, faster, stronger, and bigger!

Cain by UD

by SoCalStunNa on Nov 4, 2009 9:17 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Sweet fight I think Cain has more strength than Couture at this point and time in their careers and will be able to control NOG on the ground better than Randy did but every other phase I give to NOG and a slight edge to NOG perfect match up for next in line at a title shot don’t count out Cain though he is a tough fighter and great wrestler that should give NOG all he can handle.

by Beaver on Nov 4, 2009 9:20 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Well Beaver, I think Cain will just try to establish top control and ride him ala lesnar-Herring for a stoppage or decision. But Nog’s chin is too good and he’s shown that he can handle technical wrestlers aka barnett in scrambles as well as exchange subs (which cain won’t). He also won’t have free reign to pass guard, mount and etc however he wants.

your prediction for Nog/Cain is flawed, SoCal, but I agree with you that with Brock out for so long, they should go back to Plan A of having Cain and Shane face off. I think Nog/Gonzo is a more interesting fight. But what we really need…and mean NEED, is:

NOG/MIR II

That fight just HAS to happen. Nog is the most skilled HW in the UFC and there’s no way Wank Mir TKOs a healthy Nog. Nog deserves a chance to avenge that BS and shut Frank Queer’s mouth once and for all!

by shonuff on Nov 5, 2009 9:47 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I agree! I normally wouldnt even want to see Nog waste his time against such a crappy fighter like Frank Mir…BUt mir needs to get whats coming to him. any real top fighter who isnt insecure would have at least acknowldged that Nog wasnt close to healthy. If I was Mir, I would just say, hey NOg wasnt clearly healthy, but he stepped in the Octagon so I did my job, and would be happy to do it again. MMa is about honor and testing yourself, yet ir doesnt acknowledge that he beat a zombie on that night, instead of the 2nd best HW in the history of the entire focking sport!

I llove good, mma matches, and NOG should only be fighting top opponents, something Mir is not….but too many stupid fans actually think that Mir is good now, hell Mir even believes it. THese people need a reality check so NOG should be allowed to get his revenge.

My hatred for Mir, makes me really want to see the rematch with Nog, but from an mma purist point of view…NOG/Cain is a much better and relevant fight!

Personally I dont think that Cain or Mir have what it takes to beat Nog. I actually still believe that Nog is the best HW in the UFC right now. Im happy that Nog isnt sitting out waiting for his shot at Brock because Nog is the type of fighter that needs to stay active. The best HW fight that the UFC has to offer is NOg vs. Brock! I dont get why we have to waste our time with the Cain’s and Carwins of the world before we get to the MEGAFIGHT that we all want to see. Brock or Nog losing could throw a monkey wrench in that fight! No one should fight for the UFC title until Brock and Nog decide who’s the best!

by john G on Nov 5, 2009 10:23 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Wow, never thought I’d see the day that I agreed with every thing John G said, but I guess there’s a first time for everything!!! Nog is definitely THE best HW in the UFC and the second best in the WORLD. If Lesnar were within 20 lbs of him, it wouldn’t even be a match. That said, with a 60 lb division and a current champion who’s a world class athelete who milks every ounce of that weight advantage, Nog may never get to wear the belt that he deserves. That’s why it’s time for the UFC to create a cruiserweight belt at 225 or 235. Otherwise, their most talented HW (Nog, Randy, Cain, Dos Santos) will never have a fair shot at a title again. There are too many 260-290 lbs monsters out there nowadays who are real atheletes and not just side-show freaks like Choi and Sapp.

by shonuff on Nov 5, 2009 7:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

NOG vs Brock will be insane and it will happen as I believe both guy’s will get past stiff competition for those of you that don’t think Carwin is the real deal you are dead wron he is right behind Nog and getting better. Anyone here that has seen the classice nog and Fedor fights know NOG is dangerous and if it wasn’t so hot were they were fighting as they both were dripping in sweat early in the fight both times as well as fighting in a ring the advantage went to Fedor because they were so slippery and when you get close to the ropes in Pride they reset you in the middle of the ring in same postition so evey advantage went to the wrestling GnP that Fedor had but at the same time it was a battle Nog just couldn’t get a grip on Fedor if you don’t believe me they probally have it on youtiube just type Fedor vs antonio 2004 and 2003 and you will see a classic Pride battle were upkicks when the opponent is on his knees and heel stomps were allowed but anyway NOG vs Fedor was a great battle that got Fedor the status he has today JJ vs GnP but like I said the conditions were in favour of Fedor both matches and even so Nog made Fedor work the second time was close but Fedor was in control for the most part and the one problem with guys like NOG if they can’t get the sub most likely they will lose in a decision match there were some great attempts and escapes in both fight one of the main reasons I became a huge MMA fan was because of those fights along with the Wandy Pride fights.

I couldn’t agree more…I called Cain the future of the division the first time I saw him, people were saying Ben was going to take him out becuase he had no chin and no punch, I would like to see what they are going to say after he beats Nog. But truth-fully Nog is past his prime and it would be a different fight if this was 3 yrs ago. So guys if Sliva is a no show is this enough to make the Jan 2 last show of the yr exceptable? Your Thoughts?

by Robert(1) on Nov 5, 2009 7:32 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I think style-wise Cain is a young rookie version of Randy Couture. Unfortunately for him, the division is filled with a lot more talented giants than it was before, and Cain is a lot smaller than a lot of the top contenders, but he may be just big enough that the cut to LHW would be impossible for him. Another reason it’s time to add a 230 lbs division!

I think NOG is in his prime his stand up has looked much better than his pride days and of coarse his ground game is one of the best as far as JJ ground games go NOG now can beat NOG then for the simple fact he has evolved as a fighter his and lost none of his strengths it’s naive to say he is past his prime you can say his chin is not what it use to be but only one fight would even suggest that. NOG looks as hungry as I have seen in in sometime and he and his camp have said he is working out harder than ever and feels in the best shape he ever has and one thing is for sure NOG doesn’t talk sh^t.

by Chief on Nov 4, 2009 7:50 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I like both fighters, but I really have to think Minatauro is going to take this, perhaps easily.

by BigRedOne on Nov 4, 2009 8:17 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed. Stylistically Cain is a younger less experienced version of Randy Couture, a little quicker, but not as strong or smart. If Randy couldn’t handle Nog, I don’t see how Cain will. Nog is the most talented (and possibly toughest) Heavyweight the UFC has ever had. Cain has a bright future ahead of him, but he’s gonna have to chalk this one up as a learning experience.

OK—this is a hand-picked fight for Noguiera in my opinion. Wrestler with no power and little standup technique. I feel so bad for Cain. He went from scheduled to go against Carwin in the number 1 contender fight to now having to take two fights against 1 1/2 quality opponents (jury’s still out on Rothwell) while his scheduled opponent got fast tracked straight to Brock. If I’m Velazquez and I beat Nog and DON’T get the first title shot at the winner of Lesnar vs. Carwin, I’m absolutely livid.

by magicmike on Nov 4, 2009 7:50 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

i dont understand you people….when brock beats randy you say “so what, randy is 47, big deal, hes an old man that wasnt impressive” but when nogs beats randy you say “holy shit the old nogs is back, damn he looked so good against randy” and suddenly randy is a formiddable opponent…

so make up your freaking minds….one second randy is a washed up 47 year old guy that isnt a worthy opponent and beating him isnt a big achievement…then the next second hes suddenly a worthy opponent and beating him is a great achievement…

so which is it?

by HellaHectic on Nov 4, 2009 7:51 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

oh and dont give the whole “brock was so much bigger than randy”….randy himself said that tim sylvia was bigger than brock

by HellaHectic on Nov 4, 2009 7:52 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Tim is taller than Brock, but smaller in every other way, with only a fraction of Brock’s strenght, speed, and athleticism. The only reason to discredit Brock’s win over Randy was the fact that Randy is 60 lbs smaller than Brock. Randy is the 2nd most talented HW in the UFC and by far the most accomplished. Beating him is by far the biggest feather in Brock’s cap. But if they were anywhere near same size, there’s no way in hell Brock would have won that fight. Rogan said from ringside, “Damn, it looks like these guys are 3 weight classes apart!” In fact most weight classes are 15 lbs, so in a just world they’d have been 4 weight classes apart. It’s like making B.J. Penn defend his belt against Rampage Jackson!

by shonuff on Nov 5, 2009 7:46 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I gave full credit to both men, Brock surprised me and showed a lot of maturity in that fight, considering it was his 4th fight and in his previous 3 he rushed in like a madman to mixed results. Full credit to him for KO’g a legend like Randy, he proved a lot of critics wrong although most won’t admit it.

As for Nog, that performance was exceptional, he outboxed Randy, almost submitted him twice, swept him to take mount from his back, it was a world class performance that showed that Nog is a master at all aspects of MMA, while Randy proved he’s a warrior by surviving after nearly being KO’d and submitted as well as mounted on several occasions. Sick fight, it was a pleasure to watch.

Can’t wait for Nog-Cain, if the same Big Nog can come into this fight then it’s a dangerous match for Cain, he’ll have to have superb submission defence to keep Nog down and ground and pound on him. Hopefully it can match up to the Nog-Randy fight. The winner will be a very worthy contender, if Brock-Carwin and Rashad-Thiago happen then this will be a sick card even without Andy-Vitor and Lyoto-Shogun II.

by Bill Maher on Nov 4, 2009 8:37 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

dammit, i wasnt ready for this fight just yet. I wanted this to be for the title, not a title shot! Cain deserves his hsot already, and taking a fight agaisnt NOG is very very dangerous fir him and his title aspirations. He should have jsut pulled kenny FLorian and waited for his shot like he did with BJ penn and not take a fight. If cain loses, which he can lose this one, it will set him back quite a bit…. Man i didnt want to see this fight jsut yet. Dont get me wrong, im freaking pumped for this, but im jsut worried what it might do for Cains future. But hey, sooner or later he was bound to fight NOG, i just felt Cain already deserved his shot, even ahead of Carwin.

This delay of Carwin/ Lesnar really messed thigns up. According to Tatame, Nog said he was expecting to meet the Loser of Carwin vs Lesnar. Which common sense means that Cain was gonna get his title shot. Now with the Delay UFC was FORCED to put this fight together as a filler. I gaurantee you this is the Main event for 108. Brock will not be ready to defend agaisnt Carwin. They wil lsave that for the Super Bowl Card.

Having said all that, I think Cain will take this and hoepfully he will finally get the respect he deserves from a bunch of Naysayers who say he is just hype! BUT, i bet peopel will still find a way to crtizice him and not give him credit by making excuse for NOG! I love NOG, but this is Cains time and he will prove it. It will not be easy, but if Nog goes in the shape he was in for Handy, then we are in for an Instant Class War!!!!

by manalito on Nov 4, 2009 8:41 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

manalito, I know you mean well, Bro, but you have to be realistic. You’re absolutely right about the timing of this fight being bad for Cain, because he is gonna lose this one four sure. What has he got against Nog that Randy didn’t have? His standup is not as good as Couture, he’s not as strong, he’s not as experienced. He’s like a poor-man’s Couture. Give him a few more years to learn the trade (and fighting Nog will be great experience for him) and he might be just as good as Couture, and ready for Nog, but he ain’t there yet.

Call me crazy and although i HATE HATE HATE Cain and i think he has no power.. I GOT HIM TO KO BIG NOG. U herd it here Cain Velasquez will K.O. BIG NOG.

by Zack on Nov 4, 2009 8:55 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Cain is too strong and too explosive for NOG. When has NOG subbed someone who actually knows what they are doing on the ground? Not gunna happen. It’s going to be a replay of the Fedor fights I think. UD for Cain who i also HATE HATE HATE.

by Vulcano on Nov 4, 2009 10:01 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Dude, you’re dreaming! Nog has never been KOd or even TKOd (except when he checked out of the hospital to fight with the plague). How can you think pillow-fisted Cain is gonna KO a guy who ate punches from Fedor, CroCop, Hendo, and Goodridge and kept on smiling. You’re freakin delusional! Cain’s got no power and his wrestling isn’t as good as Couture’s. He’s got nothing that can hurt Nog.

by shonuff on Nov 6, 2009 12:37 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Nog is going to TKO/SUb Cain sometime in the second or first. I’ve come around to liking Cain alot more after he destroyed Rothwell but that does not change a thing hes pretty much a younger version of Couture which means he gonna lose even easier then Randy.

Yes it is, but i hope everyone realizez that this pretty much means the Carwin vs Lesnar fight will be in Februay at UFC 109 not this card. It would be TOO stacked. And im sure the UFC brass pretty much know Brock wont be ready by them. But stil la helluva card!

Main Event
Cain vs Nog

Rashad vs Thiago
Dos Santos vs Gonzaga
Paul Daley vs Carlos Condit
Tyson Griffin vs Jim Miller

UnderCard
Martin Kampmann vs Markham
Joe Lauzon vs Sam Stout
Dan Lauzon vs Cole Miller
Ryan Jensen vs Mark Munoz
Jake Ellenberger vs Mike Pyle

Yes the spoils of riches that the UFC has is evident with this one ! stacked!!!

I’d rather see Nog/Gonzaga and Cain/JDS

by shonuff on Nov 6, 2009 12:39 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

lol predicted this fight in the other ufc 108 thread. like i said there, big nog has the advantage imo. But you never know, cain might pull a rabbit out of his ass and TKO nog with it. Cain is stronger with good wrestling, heavier than Randy. Nog was able to sweep Randy ‘cause dude was relatively light. I won’t say nog can’t but he’ll have a harder time sweeping Cain. If Cain loses, he should consider LHW, he would be awesome there.

by big chief on Nov 4, 2009 9:31 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Beating someone in the gym and beating Nog is a HUGE difference. Who at AKA can match Nog’s skills? Anyone?

by n4tacon on Nov 4, 2009 11:33 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yea im really looking forward to nogs destroying this guy…hes got way too much hype for the competition hes beatin…a dominant wrestler taking down people with no ground game over and over again doesnt make you a top contender….

being on top of kongo and being on top of nogs is a tiny bit different..

by HellaHectic on Nov 4, 2009 9:40 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Hahaha @ whoever said Cain via TKO. He has the least punching power in the heavyweight division, and Nog has only been TKO’d once.

by nickname on Nov 4, 2009 9:41 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

yeah, and that was when he fought while in a coma dying from cerebral malaria! Nog’s chin is impenetrable. He’ll probably take out his mouthpiece so he can get a free tooth-polishing from Cain’s punches.

Cain’s win over Nelson was impressive but it says nothing about his stature in the UFC since we don’t know where Nelson fits.

I love how some people are so quick to say “Cain by TKO!!!!” Nog’s been TKO’d once. One time in 39 matches. He’s fought some of the best in the world (Crocop and Fedor in their primes) and still not been KO’d or subbed. We’ve seen nothing of Cain’s sub defense and honestly very little of how he handles an opponent on the ground other than guys with zero ground game. I like Cain, but it’s not his time right now. Nog via triangle in the 2nd.

by n4tacon on Nov 4, 2009 11:36 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I agree…I’m in the “Cain wins this fight easily” camp, and i think he is going to deliver a mercyless beatdown on NOG…but it’s NOG’s chin that will cause the beatdown. NOG never gets knocked out, and i don’t see CAIN winning by TKO. THis will be a unanimous decision, and NOG will have a bunch of red, splotchy marks on his face with some cuts and blood, but there will be no TKO or KO…….Unless of course Mazaghatti is the referee, and then god knows what will happen.

by kg on Nov 5, 2009 8:39 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

You hit the nail on the head n4tacon! Now is not Cain’s time. The top of the HW division is stacked with 270+ lbs WRESTLERS who are as good or better than Cain and WAY bigger, not to mention Nog, the best BJJ HW of all time. Cain will have to bide his time and pray for them to create a cruiserweight division before he will be relevant to the title picture. He’s got talent, but not enough to overcome world class wrestlers who are 50 lbs bigger and have more power. If the world was fair, cain would be in a division that topped out at 225-235 lbs, Randy would have just lost the title to Nog, and this would be Cain’s title shot. But the world ain’t fair and in a division of monsters that have to cut to get to 265 lbs, Cain is too small to pose a legit threat to the title.

Cain for the win…

What are you people talking about even though Nog lost to Fedor Twice, Fedor couldn’t finish Nog, When Nog faught Barnett, Barnett won but couldn’t finish him, but Nog won the rematch. Cain is all wrestling, no punch power, look at cain’s track record.

by Preezy on Nov 5, 2009 2:28 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

If this is true I think Cain gets his first loss and the winner obviously gets the winner of the mega wrestlers.

Whoa. Underrating Cain, huh?
  Whatever.
You guys will be surprised when Cain puts a 15 min beatdown on Big Nog. Trust me, Cain is gonna do what he did to the others. He doesn’t get tired. If he was able to put Big Benjamin down and keep him there, hell Nog is gonna lay on his back the entire fight.
   Warrrrr CAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Pamirec on Nov 5, 2009 7:41 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

right there with you…..not only does Cain win this fight, but he also delivers a serious beat-down in the process. Cain will power his way thru any sub that NOG thinks he’s gonna use. I just wanna hear what all the Cain-haters are going to say after this……they all called for Cain vs NOG, and now they have it……..

by kg on Nov 5, 2009 8:35 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

bye bye cain. use your wrestling to get the takedown and be submitted 5 secs later or stand up and get your head boxed in. Nog has to be the fav

by hatteras on Nov 5, 2009 8:00 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Great fight, Cain needs a name like Nog on his record to justify a title shot IMO. Gonna be tough for Cain though; not that many ways that Cain can win this.

Cain is not the biggest puncher, and Nog has an increddible chin so don’t see Cain KOing him. We know Nog’s submission game is on another level, and his striking is tight, though not deverstating.

So, Cain wrestles him right?! Dangerous game as we know Nog can fight off his back as well as anyone in the sport. Cain’s best chance (and maybe only chance) is to score points with the take downs, control, and then get out of there. He can’t afford to simply lay on Nog I don’t believe as he runs the risk of getting sub’d.

FINALLY!!!!! Now all the Cain haters get to see just how dominant this guy is, and all the NOG nuthuggers will get to see how overrated he is in his current state. Cain will destroy NOG. I’m sure there will be many that disagree, but Cain is going to overwhelm NOG on the ground. NOG is not going to submit Cain, as he stays way too busy, and he’ll be well-coached enough to avoid getting suckered into a spot where he can be submitted. All you NOG nuthuggers keep bringing it. If i’m wrong, i’m more than man enough to come back and eat my well deserved serving of crow. The only guy that’s going to beat Cain is they guy that can outwrestle, or at least be an equal wrestler to Cain. If you can keep it standing, you have a chance. NOG will not be able to keep this standing. I don’t even see this being a close fight.

by kg on Nov 5, 2009 8:31 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

I’m a big time nog fan but I have to go with Cain on this one, I think
Cain will simply outpower nog, he’s not gonna want trade with him
so it’s simply going to the ground, should be a great fight…

Finally, the spoon feeding of Cain has stopped. No disrespect to Kongo, just about all of Cain’s fights have been against sub-par talent. Now we’ll see what he’s made of and stop this nonsense of giving him a title shot. He needs to beat some of these top guys first.

Hoping NOG schools him in this.

by sudnvictory on Nov 5, 2009 9:02 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

LOL at you guys who keep saying Cain is the future of the HW division! Hate to break it to you, boys, but LESNAR is the present AND future of the division. I hate the Orangutard, but who is gonna beat him??? Nog is by far the best HW in the UFC and I doubt even he can pull it off, given the size difference. Give Brock a couple more years of top-notch experience and I don’t even think Fedor will be able to beat him. The only way Brock loses the title is if he has an as-yet-undiscovered glass jaw that someone like Carwin or Rogers can exploit. But heed my words, the future of the HW division lies with 265+ giants. The days of 225-230 guys fending off guys their own size and side-show freaks are gone.
