I looked up MArcus on youtube and there are a couple of hid fights… no skill what-so-ever, just pure size and strength! I like him though, and will be rooting for him tonight (even though I hate Rampage)

I really like Marcus. He’s by far my favorite personality on the show! I hope he does well and gets into the UFC and gets to live his dream. If he makes it, he’ll be the nicest guy in the HW division. How big is he anyway?

i’m thinking he will get close but no cigar
i’m waiting for the finale.. good fights coming up in that one.

it’s to bad fighters are getting hurt, but if you think about it they are going to put on a good show with big name cards if they fight mid year 2010

I really like Marcus too! He’s a genuinely nice guy. I’m torn because I think it would be hilarious if Rashad goes 8-0, but I would like to see Marcus win.

Real heavyweights at 108! Cain vs Big Nog!!!

by JRoland on Nov 4, 2009 4:56 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Awesome fight, winner should face Brock-Carwin. Makes up for the title fight cancellations. I’m a Cain fan but Nog should be too much for him, it depends on how well he can defend submissions on top as his only hope is to employ the same strategy as Fedor did in Pride only I don’t think he’s good enough on the ground to neutralise Nog’s jits and he certainly doesn’t have the punching power or technique to stop Nog standing. Should be interesting to see how Nog can deal with a big, strong wrestler before he takes on Brock or Carwin, after the Randy fight Nog has to be the big favourite. Either way the winner will have earned the fight in the cage instead of on the mic and truly deserves their title shot.

Couldn’t agree more! This is going to be great! Winner should automatically get the next title shot, and I’m definitely putting my money on Big Nog! Now pleaseeeee no injury bug for this amazing fight.

by JRoland on Nov 4, 2009 5:26 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

good post David. agree totally. If anyone can beat Big Nog then they deserve a title shot imo. It will be a big test for Cain, and I think Nog submits him. Guillotine or anaconda. I wouldn’t be surprised if he TKO’s Cain from the feet either.

Right on David, especially about earning a title shot in the cage instead of the microphone.

Caesar—- I was thinking the exact same thing coming on this thread. Not a fan of Rampage but I really like this cat & hope he pulls off a win.

I can’t even remember who Marcus is fighting, shows how much camera time that guy got. I like Marcus, he’s a monster but a nice guy, I had him and Brendan as being the top fighters along with Nelson, hopefully he does well even if it means Rampage gets to boast over nothing.

by David W-S on Nov 4, 2009 3:18 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Agreed David.

I been singing the praise of Brandon since they announced the fighters months ago. He will win show. I was impressed by marcus’ stature but nothing else. He’ll never be anything but a great personality. And Nelson should be facing Brandon in finale IMO.

if hes gt dt work rate nd able pick things up so quick he could of been good if he started mma earlier…hope he makes it to the ufc though…would be a nice addition to a weak division…hes got size and strength, more than some HW in the Ufc

by irishlilpete on Nov 4, 2009 4:10 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

a weak division, hmm ok there

by DanTheMan on Nov 4, 2009 4:16 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Compared to the others it is, HW is easily the least stacked division in MMA, no other division would have a UFC champion with only 5 fights, most of the top 10 are past their peak (Nog, Randy), prospects (Brock, Carwin, Grim, Cain, JDS) or LHWs taking advantage of a weak division (Fedor, Randy). That makes it weak in my eyes.

by David W-S on Nov 4, 2009 5:06 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Are you talking UFC only or all of MMA? Because in UFC I think MW is the weakest.

by PW on Nov 4, 2009 5:27 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I’m talking about HW in general, it’s a poor weight class in my opinion and even with the big gap in weight it’s still thinner than any other division. I actually think the UFC MW division is pretty strong, sure they don’t have Jacare, Shields or Lindland plus Hendo just left but with a world class champion in Andy, talented all round fighters like Nate and Vitor as well as top fighters like Maia, who has the best BJJ in MMA in my opinion.

It’s looking a lot stronger than the UFC’s HW division, which doesn’t even have the top fighter in the weight class and is so thin that a fairer CW division can’t be brought in because there wouldn’t be enough fighters to compete for belts at 235 and 265. When the last 2 champions are a 46 year old and a 5 fight rookie you know the division is struggling, when Frank Mir and Tim Sylvia are former champions you know it sucks.

by David W-S on Nov 4, 2009 7:10 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I really like the looks of the HW division now. Obviously I’m a huge Brock fan. But then you have Nog, who is a legend; Mir, 2-time champ; Carwin and Cain, both undefeated; dos Santos, Struve, Barry and Duffee. All good HWs there.

There’s a chance I’m down on the MW division because after Belfort there is nobody who is even close to challenging Silva and I’m overlooking a lot of depth.

any1 remember the clip of sum1 getting uppercutted in the pool? who was that ? i think team rashad is guna make a clean sweep the guy mike wessel is tuff as hell & i think he’s guna beat the s#it out of big baby. if have a feeling he’s guna be just like wes shivers fight. Wes shivers vs. marcus jones on the ultimate finale wud be cool to watch
