I’m hyped for this one. I don’t know if he can pull it off but I think Rogers is atleast hungry enough to put on a good show.

I’m going to take Rogers in this one!!! Think Fedor is going to get knocked out!!! 1st round ko Rogers!!!

Not gonna happen ricky bobby. I myself am looking for the upset. But I don’t wanna expect too much because Fyodor takes this one easily.
And did the lady with glasses say ‘Owoyanenko’?!? WTF?!?

Fedor is so great that other fighters are honored and excited to fight on the same card as him
Ever hear a fighter say I am honored to fight on the same card as Brock? lol

I can’t believe how much CBS has dropped the ball on promoting this thing.
It’s pathetic that the fight is in two days, and nobody outside of hardcore MMA fans knows about it.
by Brizzi on Nov 4, 2009 1:28 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Whoops, I meant three days. See, even I barely know about it. :)
by Brizzi on Nov 4, 2009 1:29 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I’d have to agree. CBS should have been buying up ads everywhere and it’s just not out there. It’s not just the one fight either, it’s a stacked card and still nothing in the way of promotions.

on top of that its only available to a tiny % of the worlds population, strikeforce has zero global strategy, thats why people call them a regional, smalltime show. just lame!
by Paniczoo on Nov 4, 2009 2:28 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
M-1 just locked up a tv deal with Bravo in Europe. How is that “regional”?
by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 4, 2009 2:32 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
About time, hopefully this means that I get to properly watch this weekend’s show. Bravo is a good start and a proper TV deal in this country is long overdue for SF. Saying that making these online videos US only is ridiculous, why limit your audience? I just don’t get it.
by David W-S on Nov 4, 2009 3:29 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Bravo is a british channell through sky subscription, sky is owned by the same chap who owns foxtel in australia but we dont get bravo, please send me details of this deal intro? you got a link? if they just signed the deal i doubt they will change their weekend schedule on 3 days notice.
by Paniczoo on Nov 4, 2009 3:49 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
intro – m1 challenge is shown in australia, did m1 sign a deal to show m1 fights or strikeforce fights, btw the rest of europe doesnt get bravo so its still a tiny number added on even if the uk satelite customers do get it which i doubt, david if you have sky subscription could you check the schedule on bravo?
by Paniczoo on Nov 4, 2009 3:53 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Scott Coker said that M-1 is keeping their end of the bargain and did some great things oversees by shoring up some tv deals. He mentioned Bravo, so since Coker is the owner of Strikeforce it’s safe to assume that SF fights will be aired on Bravo.
Not sure if this Saturdays is going to be aired, but Coker was adamant this deal was done.
I can’t for the life of me remember where I read it.

Bravo’s one of Branson’s channels not Murdoch’s, it’s available on Virgin and Sky just like pretty much all British channels (there’s the occassional exclusive, Sky have more HD channels and there was a time that Sky took their channels from Virgin but right now they offer near identical content).
I apologise to SF and M-1, the show is on Bravo at 9pm on Sunday (Sky channel 123, Virgin channel 136). Great news for UK MMA fans, they need to do a better job at promoting it though there’s more advertising for BAMMA than SF. I wouldn’t have known if Intro hadn’t let me know about the TV deal, thanks for that mate I’ll be sure to watch the repeat on Sunday.

Intro, there was a tiny snip of that in the press conference break down that mania did the other day. Coker basically said he didn’t expect a ton out of M-1 this early in the indeavor, but they are doing their fair share of work to promote this event. Or something to that effect.
by James S on Nov 4, 2009 5:59 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
its a done deal, and its being promoted all over Europe by M-1, so of course its being aired outside of the USA.

Finally I got to see the 360 show. Very interesting, Fedor really is a wild man and you’ve got to respect Grim, hopefully Rogers can shock the world though I bet Dana and the sheep will all bash both fighters win or lose.

I think it’ll do ok. They are definitely failing on the marketing though. My guy at work that talks MMA with me didn’t even know this was on.

did anyone else notice, not at one point, did they even mention Strikeforce? they didn’t even mention that it was on cbs either i believe. how can you have your fighter go on espn and talk about his upcoming fight with emullnann-ko and not even mention what org he fights for, unless Strikeforce is purposley trying to do this, hoping that casual fans will confuse them with the ufc. LOL. this is about as bad when they signed heschel walker. he was all over espn anot 1 single time did they mention that he signed with SF. they mentioned the ufc a bunch though. i love it that SF is giving us all these “free” fights, but they are eerily starting to remind me of elitexc.

by john G on Nov 4, 2009 7:04 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
JB, the UFC are masters at promoting fights, SF have a long way to go before they reach that standard because of their amateurish promoting skills. Having Grim get interviewed by some clueless woman is not going to get people watching the show, I’m surprised that Mayhem’s not been doing more interviews as the only reason he got the Shields fight was that dumb MTV show and his annoying personality, what’s the point if he’s not even promoted by SF.
by David W-S on Nov 4, 2009 7:47 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Did either of them realy have a clue about Fedor or MMA?
by Danas a crossdresser on Nov 4, 2009 1:28 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Fedor Ummalanko??? i love these sports people that dont know anything about the sport.
*For all the people that think that cbs hasnt promoted this thing the right way, which i agree with, they better do there part as fans and spread the word to anyone they know who might not normally watch mma.
by bobby o'shea on Nov 4, 2009 1:39 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
agree but its worse becuase she’s a women, I mean do you really think she watches MMA?

I THINK THEY DONT WANT TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE OTHERS HAVE MADE BY PROMOTING FIGHTS OR FIGHTERS THAT DONT TURN OUT THE WAY THEY ARE PROMOTED… UHHH, DOES A GUY NAMED KIMBO RING A BELL??? WAR “THE GRIM”!!!
by DADEAL on Nov 4, 2009 1:45 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I recall people saying CBS wasn’t promoting Elite XC enough and they did monster ratings.
by markie on Nov 4, 2009 1:57 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
ELITE XC’S MONSTER RATINGS CAME FROM KIMBO, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED THROUGH WORD OF MOUTH… NO ONE KNOWS FEDOR, SO WHY TAKE THE RISK IN SPENDING A LOT OF DOUGH IN PROMOTING HIM WHEN HE MAY LOSE…
by DADEAL on Nov 4, 2009 2:15 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
There are two fighters in this fight and Rogers seems to be promoting pretty well. He isn’t as big as Kimbo as far as internet fanfare goes, but he will be soon enough if he keeps up the good promo work.

I already know who he fights for, so I guess I didn’t notice.

you should. those “little things” like that are important when promoting the MAIN EVENT of an mma show. hardcore fans only make up a very small portion of the overall fans that watch and spend money on the sport. things like this, that go unoticed to the untrained eye such as yours, is what makes the difference between being succesfull and failing miserably. what difference does it make who wins the fight if nobody is watching? fedor may not care about money for himself, but how else is he going to pay for his 30 man entorouge that he brings with him everywhere. i can gaurantee you that brett cares, he just so new to all this, he’s not used to it. as far as M-1 suing Affliction, what a shtty thing to do! Atencio may not have been the smartest of guys when it came to mma, but he did have some decency to him. he cut everything and everyone loose so quick so the fighters, you know those dudes who do the fighting, could go on and try and catch on with another organization, and make money, instead of holding them hostage like elite and the scumbag shaws did. he tried to do right by his wrongs and douches like vadim and gary/jerry millen try and cash in on that. they will lose, i can promise you that. M-1 is nothing but a nickel and dime org that is desperatley trying to make it in the states, b/c mma is not poular at all in russia. that’s your lesson for today.
your welcome! :)
by j.b. on Nov 4, 2009 7:19 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
CBS should be promoting the main event regardless of a possible card change, otherwise no casual fans will watch. You can’t rely on a hardcore MMA audience if you want a show to be a success and that is all CBS will get if they don’t advertise. Card changes are part of the risk of a live show, you have to advertise what you have even if there is a chance that it’ll change.

IM AFRAID TO TELL YA ROBERTO, BUT THE TIDE IN MMA IS CHANGING AND “Ummolanko” WILL LOSE TO A BIGGER MORE ATHLETIC FIGHTER…

lol, Rodgers athletic? You need a pair of glasses, sport! And you won’t be oblige to use Caps all the time anymore.
by Alpha Male on Nov 4, 2009 2:20 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
YES, I SAID ATHLETIC!!! WOULD YOU CALL A NFL DEFENSIVE OR OFFENSIVE LINEMAN ATHLETIC??? HE WILL OUT WEIGH FEDOR BY ATLEAST 40-50 POUNDS COME FIGHT NIGHT AND WILL SURELY WEAR FEDOR DOWN IF HE DECIDES TO TRY AND TAKE HIM DOWN…FYI,I WILL CONTINUE TO USE “ALL KAPS” alpha male"!!!

Well then he definately wont lose to mr Titties on saturday.
He’s not athletic at all, but he is bigger than Fedor (atleast in the chest area)

by horny for mma on Nov 4, 2009 2:19 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Not in pro competition that I can recall.
That’s the biggest ? as far as I’m concerned.
by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 4, 2009 2:26 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
No. But does anyone expect Rogers to use the cage?
by MongoMan on Nov 4, 2009 2:27 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
He had better if Fedor clinches, or he’s getting taken down and subbed in about 5 seconds.
by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 4, 2009 2:29 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Sure, but from what I’ve seen of him he tends to take the middle and throws punches.
by MongoMan on Nov 4, 2009 2:33 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I know. I’m just sayin’ that if Fedor clinches with him, he’d better push Fedor against the cage as quickly as possible or he’s going down fast.

You all know that I’m 100% Fedor on this one, but Rogers is winning me over with his interviews and stuff. The guy seems legitimately genuine and a good guy.
by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 4, 2009 2:29 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Intro, ur kidding me!
rogers is so cocky and obnoxious, I can’t stand that fat, big-boobed, mouthy can who has only fought small/bloated lhw cans and a no head-movement punch-drunk arlovski.
I pray to god that Fedor doesn’t overlook this savage beast, and knocks his big mouth lard-ass out.
by salmonbum_afk on Nov 4, 2009 6:07 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Well Brett is obviously a big guy that can bang. But what is his submission defense like? What’s his chin like? We’ll find out Saturday night. Problem is Strikeforce dosen’t have anyone else I wanna see fight Fedor, maybe Overeem but he dosen’t seem too interested in fighting.
by Rich on Nov 4, 2009 2:37 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Rogers is the REAL DEAL!!! Fedor is going to sleep, in the first 2 min of the fight. I am sad to say I may no longer swing from Fedors nuts. Well maybe a little because there are so nice and warm and fuzzy. I will take up swinging from Rogers nuts soon once I get over my fedor nut with drawl.

Owolianenko?! Did the lady just say that?! Fuckin’ ESPN ‘First Takers’, they should research first on how to pronounce the Last Emperors name before even thinkin’ about speaking the revered name.
Fedor takes this one easily. I ain’t expectin’ any upsets here so Brett knockin’ out Fedor cold won’t surprise me.

SIGH.
Talk about Fedor being unmarketable, Rogers with his low, deep, and almost monotone voice doesn’t help much either (not to mention his lack of charisma). It’s really sad how few promoters, fighters, and hardcore mma fans understand promotion & business of the fight game. Sad.

What time does the show come on? Because I have searched my Brighthouse menu for the last couple days and just found it today at 1:35am Sunday morning. Talk about not getting promoted or wanting viewers.

Funny how all of us who know this fight is on are the ones complaining that no one knows the fight is on.
Sounds logical……(sighing and rolling eyes)
Let’s wait until after the fight to see how the numbers are, shall we?

My complaints were that it was difficult for me to find information and promotional videos on the card, if it wasn’t for you pointing out the Bravo deal I wouldn’t have bothered checking and would have missed the show. Point is if someone who always goes on MMA blogs didn’t know it was on in the UK then what chance does the casual fan have of seeing it, especially when Bravo don’t bother advertising and most of the videos are US only (though I’m surprised that most blogs had that link instead of the Showtime youtube page).

Rogers is hungry and has nothing to lose. Fedor has all the pressure on him. Have to wait a few more days and see what happens. There is always someone who can be a huge under dog and win. Rogers might be that someone.
