Strikeforce: "Fedor vs. Rogers" main card play-by-play:

265 lbs.: Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers (for WAMMA heavyweight championship)

Round one: Emelianenko misses with a right. Both fighters bobbing and weaving until Emelianenko closes in and throws Rogers to the mat. Rogers quickly gets back up and they go to the cage. Emelianenko bumps him off and they get back to the middle of the cage. Emelianenko unloads a combo and then wrestles Rogers to the mat. Rogers ties him up and reverses an armbar attempt and puts Emelianenko on his back, unloading a flurry that connects. Emelianenko is bloodied in the assault but gets back to full guard. Emelianenko stands over Rogers and then misses with a flying punch. Rogers ties him up to end the first.

Round two: Emelianenko starts throwing leather and they clinch. Rogers rushes in and pushes Emelianenko against the cage. The pace slows until the fighters restart in the center of the cage. Emelianenko lands a devastating right that crumbles Rogers. He swoops in for the finish but "Big" John McCarthy has seen enough.

Final result: Fedor Emelianenko defeated Brett Rogers via TKO (strikes) 1:48 R2

-end-

185 lbs.: Jason Miller vs. Jake Shields (for vacant middleweight championship)

Round one: Shields opens up with a combo and a quick takedown which pushes Miller to the cage. Shields working for position to the sound of intermittent boos. Shields looking impressive early. Miller gets to his feet and the crowd roars. Miller defends a takedown but eventually loses position. Nothing happening as Miller sits up and crown gets restless. Miller back up. H scoops Shields up and scores a big slam. Miller postures up for a big shot but Shields uses the opening to escape. On the feet, Mayhem re-scoops and re-slams Shields. He's on top as time expires.

Round two: Mutual bear hug puts both men to the cage. Miller wrestles him to the ground but Shields uses the mat to unleash his grappling. Miller twisted and contorted in different shapes and sizes including the gayest man-on-man position ever witnessed on network TV. Shields gets his back and nearly finishes him but Mayhem survives and gets back to his feet and eventually back into top position. Shields has too tight of a guard for Miller to do anything and the round ends in a stalemate.

Round three: They meet in the center of the cage and Miller gets him to the floor. It doesn't last, as Shields reverses and gets side control with ease. Shields jumps into mount and tees off, forcing Miller to give up his back. Shields has him wrapped fairly tight and Miller does an unorthodox somersault into top position, gets to his feet and lands a fade-away spinning bitch-slap. They tie up again against the cage and the referee calls time to fix tape on Miller's glove. Action resumes and Shields is back in half guard pressing Miller up against the cage. Crowd unhappy. Miller to his feet but Shields drags him back down. Unfortunately for him he ends up on his butt with Miller behind him, who sinks in the hooks and locks a DEEP rear naked choke. Shields seconds away from unconsciousness and HE'S SAVED BY THE BELL!

Round four: Miller opens up with the hands but Shields takes him down and holds him close. Crowd calling for the stand-up. John McCarthy has seen enough and puts them upright. Miller comes out like a maniac and unloads, Shields eats a few before pulling another takedown and getting it back to the ground. Miller gives up his back and now it's Shields working the rear naked choke. Miller ain't havin' it. Still, Shields won't let him up and works from side control. Round over.

Round five: A few hands fly before they tie up and go to the cage. They struggle for position and McCarthy asks them to work. Shields finally gets him to the mat but gets warned for grabbing the trunks. Shields works his way into guard but Miller once again gives up his back looking for a way out. He finds it by rolling out and briefly gets a guillotine but Shields escapes. From half-guard, Miller tries to get back to his feet but Shields is clinging to him like ivy. Round ends in a scramble on the feet.

Final result: Jake Shields defeated Jason Miller via unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46 x2)

-end-

205 lbs.: Gegard Mousasi vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (non-title bout)

Round one: Mousasi coming out cocky and confident, throwing his hands up. Sokoudjou backs him up with a low kick. Mousasi answers with a grazing high kick. Mousasi stalking and lands a low kick, than a shot to the nuts. Sokoudjou fakes another ball shot. Referee doesn't buy it. Nice leg kick by Sokoudjou. Dumb tools in Affliction shirt block my view. Gegard tees off and Sokoudjou lands a desperation takedown. He locks in a guillotine but Mousasi laughs it off and transitions to side control. Sokoudjou escapes and muscless his way to mount. They get back to their feet. Mousasi looks for the takedown but Sokoudjou uses his Judo to switch positions. Mousasi escapes and leg trips him to the floor. He pounces but time expires.

Round two: They quickly tie up and Mousasi working knees to the legs. Mousasi with a ridiculous boxing flurry but Sokoudjou survives and ties him up. Sokoudjou uses leverage and Judos him to the mat. From half-guard Mousasi is able to work an escape and find his way into top position. Mousasi raining down blows. Sokoudjou forced to turtle and cover up from the punishment until the referee stops it.

Final result: Gegard Mousasi defeated Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou via TKO (strikes) 3:43 R2

-end-

265 lbs.: Fabricio Werdum vs. Antonio Silva

Round one: Silva looking scary. Head kick misses by Werdum. Low kick doesn't. Nice jab by Silva. Big uppercut by Werdum but he rushes in and gets creamed. He collapses and Silva pounces. Werdum hanging on for dear life. He survives and they get back up. Low kick by Werdum. Silva stalking. Werdum charges and gets zilch. They tie up and go to the cage. Werdum flops into guard but Silva isn't interested. Werdum stands. Big low kick for Silva. Nice one-two lands for Werdum. Sliva lands a standing elbow. Huge head kick airball for Werdum. Silva ties him up and lands a big elbow. Werdum falls. Silva on top dropping bombs. Werdum survives and gets back to his feet as time expires.

Round two: Werdum gets plunked and ends up on his back. Silva trying to find a way in. He does but whoops! Werdum reverses and gets on top. Werdum busy from half guard but Silva muscles his way back up. They tie up and go to the cage. Crowd boos the inactivity. Referee separates them. Inside kick for Werdum. Back to the cage where Werdum wants a takedown. He gets it and works for side control. Silva being stingy and tries to roll out and Werdum tries to tweak the leg. Not happening. Round ends with Silva working for position.

Round three: Inside kick lands for Werdum. He shoots and eats a knee for his efforts. Werdum misses an uppercut and they go to the cage. Crowd lets 'em have it. They separate and Werdum with an inside kick and another shoot. He gets Silva to the ground and takes his back in a scramble. Silva barely avoids a rear naked choke and turns him into the cage. Back on their feet and Silva throws hands. They tie up again. Nice clinch work by Werdum who then grabs a leg. Silva denies him. They're gassed but Werdum lands a knee and Silva falls.Werdum on top trying to marshmallow-fist him into a KO but Silva marshmallows back. Werdum climbs on top of him and looks for an arm-triangle but runs out of time.

Final result: Fabricio Werdum defeated Antonio Silva via unanimous decision (29-29 x3)

One of the best cards of the year. Not to sure about the undercard though.

by BNF on Nov 2, 2009 11:54 AM EST reply actions

Yep its gonna be great.

The only name i recognize from the undercard is that tuf guy though..

by Lester The Pimp on Nov 2, 2009 12:05 PM EST up reply actions

The only issue I see is every main card fight can end in the first round and be very lopsided fights that would get all the pro boxing media and fighters going off and the 1st time viewer not going away satisified. Hopefully at least one or two fights end up in a good battle any wich way can’t wait to see how it looks there is definitely a lot of hype behind this show hopefully they don’t disappoint.

by Puck Head on Nov 2, 2009 12:22 PM EST up reply actions

I think the Silva-Werdum and Shields-Miller fights are most likely to be battles, maybe even decisions. The other two fights are most likely going to be fireworks with Soko and Rogers wanting to bang, and Moussasi and Fedor being willing to exchange at least until they feel uncomfortable. I’ll be shocked if they’re all one-rounders. And honestly most of the casual fans I know love a KO anyways.

by Diceman on Nov 2, 2009 12:50 PM EST up reply actions

i agree dice, its a good mix silva-werdum and shields-miller are great match ups and soko gregard should be fireworks and fedor fighting is all that needs to be said in his match up. puck your wrong and miller beat lawler before as well and won’t be subbed early.

by roy on Nov 2, 2009 1:29 PM EST up reply actions

Last time I seen frankenstein fight was when Kimbo beat tank Abbott against Ricco Rodriguiz and antonia in my opinion should of lost in a great fight. I think werdum will work him on the feat and be able to keep it standing it can end up a ground struggle i jsut think werdum is to well rounded for Frankenstein. And mayheim is around the same calibure of fighter as Shields last opponent Lawlar I feel they should of got Ronaldo in this fight but bully beat down got the nod because he is more popular with the american fans. Hope your right though dice I would like to see one or two good tilts.

by Puck Head on Nov 2, 2009 1:30 PM EST up reply actions

lol puck, werdum stand up, well rounded? miller already beat lawler and shields won’t sub him.

by roy on Nov 2, 2009 1:34 PM EST up reply actions

PH, can you please translate the following sentence into English. I have no idea what it means.

“Last time I seen frankenstein fight was when Kimbo beat tank Abbott against Ricco Rodriguiz and antonia in my opinion should of lost in a great fight.”

Sadly, unlike whatever your native language is, English requires a bit of punctuation to be understood.

by shonuff on Nov 2, 2009 3:50 PM EST up reply actions

last………. time…… I…….. seen………. Frankenstein(Silva)……… fight………. was when Kimbo ………. beat(won)……….. tank abbot…………against(the man Silva fought)……ricco …………and in my opinion ………..should ………….of ……..lost …….the fight …… in a great fight. Do ………. you ………. understand L…………..O…………….L.

by Puck Head on Nov 2, 2009 4:39 PM EST up reply actions

roy Werdum has good stand up not great but I think it’s better than Silva’s. Werdum held his own against AA and lost to Santos both great strikers on the ground Werdum is great and Silva is good. I don’t think Silva will last past round two, after this fight I would like to see werdum face AA again or Rogers to get a shot at the title after Fedor destroys Overeem. I don’t think anyone has much of a chance against Fedor out of the Strikeforce fighters right now but I think Werdum has the best chance and is the second best HW in Strikeforces division.

by Puck Head on Nov 2, 2009 4:50 PM EST up reply actions

werdum stand up has improved from non exsistant to some but is not good. i agree he probally is their best hw(after fedor) but silva might beat him its hard to say how good silva is or isn’t.

by roy on Nov 2, 2009 5:03 PM EST up reply actions

I hope so I have not seen him fight since RR and he did not look to good even though he won, werdum has been looking pretty good and your right if the best Silva comes out we might get a good fight I just don’t see it. Anyway I’m probally just thinking the worst I feel the pro boxing and anti mmma media, fighters and promoters are going to judge this event looking for ammo to throw at MMA and in my opinion lopsided fights could be great ammo for the anti MMA community that the average casual fan would agree with?

by Puck Head on Nov 2, 2009 5:27 PM EST up reply actions

Whoa boy! Not THAT much punctuation! OK, PH, I think I’ve deciphered your slo-mo version of this sentence.

Originally it sounded like you were watching a Frankenstein movie wherein Kimbo used Tank Abbot (as a blunt object) to bludgeon Ricco and Antonia (Julius Caesar’s wife??). And in your opinion [someone] should (have) lost a great fight.

Now I believe you’re trying to convey that you saw Antonio Silva fight Ricco Rodriguez in a great fight that Silva should have lost, which occured on the same card as the Kimbo/Tank fight. Is that correct?

by shonuff on Nov 3, 2009 12:40 AM EST up reply actions

silva via KO

by JG on Nov 7, 2009 6:33 PM EST up reply actions

I got Wedum,Sheilds, Mousasi, and in the upset of the year I got Brett Rogers KOing Fedor. Believe me when I say there is no reason for me to think Fedor should lose this fight, but over the past couple days I’ve just had the feeling that Rogers is going to shock the world. All logic leeds me to believe Fedor will submit Rogers or pound him out, but I’ve been calling a lot of upsets latley (not here cause my computer has been busted) based on gut feelings and have had pretty good luck so far. So I’m going to keep going with it and take Rogers in the upset of the century. Won’t that turn the MMA world on its head.

by DB on Nov 7, 2009 7:09 PM EST up reply actions

After watching tape on Rogers for the past hour or so, the man’s power is a bit overrated. Even i was kinda getting sucked into this fight as having some stylistic merit for fedor but Rogers is not a true one shot kill guy. The horrid chin of Arloski just blinded us into thinking so. He still does a lot of good things for a HW though like throwing in combos, surprisingly athletic and good base with decent sprawl. He does far better work from the clinch on the inside than striking from the outside. That’s his tendency which plays into fedor’s hand.

by NameNotRequired on Nov 7, 2009 8:04 PM EST up reply actions

He was fighting on the undercard of an Elite XC event 8 months ago. He isn’t special and this should be a very short warm up for Fedor.

by jay on Nov 7, 2009 8:33 PM EST up reply actions

you have no perception of time atall

by JG on Nov 8, 2009 12:35 AM EST up reply actions

JG, you’re right it was a lot longer than that wasn’t it?

by jay on Nov 8, 2009 1:32 AM EST up reply actions

Good point NNR as well for being known as a striker he made a big mistake having his left hand below his chin against anyone especially heavy handed fedor that arm should be up guarding all the time I think he got lazy and was fatigued though he did a excellent job defending Fedors fury of strikes against the cage and should of been ready for the bomb that fedor threw so often.

by Beaver on Nov 8, 2009 1:38 AM EST up reply actions

Dam!!!!!!!!!!!!! All I can say. Dana needs to shut up about Fedor!!!!!!!!!

by getrawbc on Nov 7, 2009 11:17 PM EST up reply actions

ill go with my picks earlier

rogers KO/tko
mayhem does the same
soku does the same but then loses his next 2 fights
werdum shutsup sasquatch
and jeff curran is going lose another fight by decision

by randy murders on Nov 7, 2009 3:54 PM EST up reply actions

Man, if you’re right and put a single parlay on that, return would be ridiculous. Place your bets yet? Also Dustin Neace use to be a sherdog troll. I doubt a troll can beat up a big frog.

by NameNotRequired on Nov 7, 2009 5:34 PM EST up reply actions

nnr im not willing to throw money down against fedor or mousasi, ill pick them but no way i’d bet that im not a total dumbass

by randy murders on Nov 7, 2009 8:13 PM EST up reply actions

Ive got Fedor by sub
Shields by sub
Mousasi by vicious KO (can’t wait to see that asshole Sokoudjou unconscious)
Silva by TKO

by Lester The Pimp on Nov 2, 2009 12:09 PM EST reply actions

I’m not so sure Sheilds can get the sub. If Jacera couldn’t submit him I’m not sure if Sheilds can do any better. However I think Sheilds can win the fight on the ground using his wrestling and sub defense while staying busy with his own submission attempts. If he can do all that he should be able to neutralize Mayhem’s monster striking advantage (not that Mayhem is a world class striker, Sheilds just sucks standing).

by DB on Nov 7, 2009 7:14 PM EST up reply actions

I’ve never scalped for tickets before. Does anyone think i can still get lower level seat tickets in front of the stage for $75 or so? There are real tickets still online but they are too far out to the sides.

Is there a bad or a better time during the event to buy scalped tickets?

by Alex on Nov 2, 2009 12:36 PM EST reply actions

go to the event, you’ll get a great deal from guys trying to unload tickets for an event that already started!

by kevin on Nov 2, 2009 7:44 PM EST up reply actions

I’ve been looking at Brett Rogers fights on youtube and all I can say is wow! heavy hands!
He really has determination to win . I think he will get his ass handed to him by the last emperor though. When Mr. Emilianenko fights, he makes a lot of fights look like he has an unfair advantage. lol He seems to be in a class of his own. What do you guys think?

by Luis on Nov 2, 2009 2:23 PM EST reply actions

i agree i mean if you watched any of fedor fights then you can see that he just handles everyone except the giant who he submited but all 3 nog fights he through him around and punched his face in this should be fun to watch

by blarg on Nov 2, 2009 3:12 PM EST up reply actions

Has anybody come across any official justification for why the Mousasi/Sokodjou fight is “non-title” ??? I just don’t get that unless there’s too much of a weight discrepency for a title bout to get sanctioned.

by shonuff on Nov 2, 2009 3:53 PM EST reply actions

They both weighed 205. I think because they couldn’t squeeze 5 rounds into their 2 hour time slot, it has to be 3 rounds. The Fedor fight is 3 rounds for a belt too. SF is making their own rules and stuff as they go.

by jay on Nov 7, 2009 4:37 PM EST up reply actions

the fedor fight is three rounds because it’s NOT for a belt. Fedor has no title in Strikeforce.

by JRE on Nov 7, 2009 5:53 PM EST up reply actions

JRE, that WAMMA piece of scrap counts as a belt. The Fedor/AA fight was 5 rounds wasn’t it? I can’t remember.

by jay on Nov 7, 2009 6:32 PM EST up reply actions

the fedor fight is for the WAMMA title I thought.

by cheshirewulf on Nov 7, 2009 6:53 PM EST up reply actions

Mousasi and the gang think that Sokodjou hasn’t earned the right to be number 1 contender. WEll I say bullshite to that because they haven;t got that much contenders in their roster anyway.

by Syd on Nov 7, 2009 6:03 PM EST up reply actions

I think it was to ensure they get 4 fights in the scheduled time slot.

Two title fights may have been too much of a gamble time wise.

Sure, it should be a title fight, but I’d rather see Gegard fight tonight in a 3 rounder than wait until December to see a 5 rounder….when the result is gonna be the same anyway, IMO.

by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 7, 2009 6:30 PM EST up reply actions

gr8 fight card! i dont even think they will show the undercard fight but maybe 1 or 2.i dont mind the main card is gud enuff! i cant w8 to see fedor dispatch rogers! i hope mousasi puts a beating on sokudju for that shit he did at super hulk tournament hitting a guy like 10x’s after he was out! sheilds vs. miller shud be gud also, i didnt think he had a chance against robbie lawler

I can’t see Fedor having a chance on the ground thats for sure but Fedor has a scary hook that can KO anybody much like Hendos. His ground game wasn’t very good. It only shows he will struggle with big guys on the ground with average skills.

Rodgers has no ground training and Fedor had NO advantage on the ground because of the size disadvantage.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:25 PM EST up reply actions

He’s the only man to have sat for more than an hour of combined fight time in Big Nog’s guard without getting subbed. I think his ground is just fine.

im sorry but fedor is a bad man. all the haters need to just admit it and hate on someone else.

by androooog on Nov 7, 2009 11:16 PM EST reply actions

Fedor is the best until proven otherwise. I still didn’t think it was an impressive win.

Fedor has holes in his game. Bigger guys can beat him if they keep it simple and don’t get subbed.

Fedor at his weight is unbeatable.

Fedor against 275 lbs is tougher. We saw Fedor in great positions on the ground and because of size he couldn’t do anything.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:20 PM EST up reply actions

no the thing that makes him what he is, is that he thinks on his feet. u saw he couldnt sub rogers so he said f-it and knocked him out. he did is smart tho. not the ussual looping KO. he hit him with a straight cause he knew rogers was gonna be swingin those hooks with everythin he had.

by androooog on Nov 7, 2009 11:25 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed Fedor is probably the smartest fighter under pressure.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:27 PM EST up reply actions

Still the fact that he couldn’t sub Rodgers tells me he will have trouble subbing Lesnar.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:28 PM EST up reply actions

yuuup thats why i dont know about him and brock. at this point i know fedor can KO brock with one punch but it all depends on if brock has the balls to stand and bang with him.

by androooog on Nov 7, 2009 11:30 PM EST up reply actions

It was a winging over hand right. Fedor didn’t throw a straight punch that whole fight. Rogers had him.

by jay on Nov 7, 2009 11:32 PM EST up reply actions

the straight is the one that tucked rogers in and kiss him goodnight

by androooog on Nov 7, 2009 11:35 PM EST up reply actions

by jay on Nov 7, 2009 11:51 PM EST up reply actions

Good card all around Rogers did pretty good but more than anything he gased way to early and I think was the reason he got caught as his hands were low and he was moving a little bit slower and I felt Fedor was going to try the over hand strike and he did but I was suprised to see him use the left more than the right wich was probaly used to set up the right. I know some thought the Shield fight was boring but I give shields on thing awsome cardio wich was the reason he won the fight Mousasi no surprise there and the Werdum fight was closer than I thought and a good fight as weel great free card and a enjoyable night of fights.

by Beaver on Nov 7, 2009 11:29 PM EST up reply actions

can u think of any other fighter that doesn’t have some kind of problem when they’re outweighed by their opponent by 30-40 lbs?? come to think of it, i can’t even think of any other fighters that are willing to fight guys that much bigger than them. they usually scream for a catchweight fight or something

by deuce 4 on Nov 8, 2009 12:35 AM EST up reply actions

by Muscle Dolphin on Nov 7, 2009 11:17 PM EST reply actions

I’ll say this. I don’t think Fedor could do too much from his guard against Brock Lesnar.

Rodgers ground game sucks and he was handling Fedor on the ground fine.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:24 PM EST up reply actions

Only one way to find out. Fedor always finds a weakness and finishes.. can Brock not make a mistake

by zack on Nov 7, 2009 11:27 PM EST up reply actions

I wish we could see that fight. Maybe next year.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:28 PM EST up reply actions

The biggest thing about brock he has great endurance and is stronger than Rogers mistakes can happen by the best and one thing that makes Fedor as great as he is is once he attacks he is relentless. I have no doubt Brock would destroy Rogers who might hold him off for a few minutes but once Brock felt him tire and trust me the Rogers we seen tonight would gas. We all knew Rogers had a punchers chance and he came close he said he should of punched more but that would of fatigued him even more.

by Beaver on Nov 7, 2009 11:39 PM EST up reply actions

I agree with jeremy,& brocks not going to stand infront of fedor with his hands down. But man can fedor hit!!with that said I take Brock,

Not ranked? WAMMA must have had Rogers ranked #2. Soon it’ll be Overeem or Verdum. They just need to figure out who Fedor’s fighting first.

by DubNub on Nov 7, 2009 11:24 PM EST reply actions

No no no. That wasn’t a huge right. Cain Valasquez got hit bigger than that by Congo. That was a quick right to a guy who was gassing. He put his hands on his side and took a huge breath about 10 seconds before that KO.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:32 PM EST up reply actions

man fedor is possibly the hardest hitter in the history of combat sports! kongo couldn’t hit harder than fedor on his best day after fedor lost 50 lbs due to swine flu. u really think those short right jabs kongo was hitting cain with were hard?? i didn’t think they were hard at all, just right on the button. kongo’s stiking is so overrated, he wasn’t even relevant in K-1, but that’s another story. tim sylvia ran through the ufc and nobody ever did any sort of damage to him on the feet, and fedor ran through him, on the feet. timmuh said fedor was the hardest hitting man he’d ever been hit by

Fedor the best pound for pound? Please, there was nothing impressive about this performance. He knocked out a gased fighter in the second round. He would get malled by Lesner, Carwin, or Velasquez. If GSP was a heavyweight or Fedor was a welterweight he would get embarrassed.

so why does gsp cut 25 lbs b4 he’ll fight anybody. if gsp is the best p4p he’d be fighting at LHW since he naturally weighs about 195-200 lbs. oh wait, he doesn’t wanna fight anybody bigger than him, yeah that’s why!

by deuce 4 on Nov 8, 2009 12:21 AM EST up reply actions

deuce, are you serious? Is this the first time you have heard of weight cutting? That was the dumbest piece of Shite comment I have ever read. GSP is suppose to fight 5 or 10 pounds above his walking around weight against guys with walk around weights of 230? You are banned from ever posting on MMA topics again, you are obviously “special” and need to die.

by jay on Nov 8, 2009 12:33 AM EST up reply actions

You’re right Deuce, GSP is the only guy in the UFC who cuts weight. SHHHH weight cutting is a quebec secret, don’t say anything or else everyone will start doing it too. RETARD.

by jay on Nov 8, 2009 12:35 AM EST up reply actions

You have no idea what P4P means. Why do you bother watching MMA if you refuse to learn anything. Also Moderation on this site is horrific.

by jay on Nov 8, 2009 12:36 AM EST up reply actions

what does p4p mean then? are u the legal voice on the p4p debate. p4p to me means a guy who can hold his own vs. anyone, regardless of size. a guy that can move quick enough to keep up with guys smaller than he and a guy who is strong and stout enough to hang with guys bigger than he. since we’ve never seen gsp fight anyone bigger than him, well then in my eyes he doesn’t even meet the criteria for being considered

by deuce 4 on Nov 8, 2009 1:02 AM EST up reply actions

and another thing PUNK! u wanna take a comment i made about a fighter and make it personal between u and i, saying i need to “die” because u think i’m mentally disabled. u spoiled lil rich kid who’s mommy and daddy didn’t teach u any manners. are u telling me when u see a mentally handicapped person u think they should die? do u think ur better than they are or something? i’ve done 4 tours of duty in iraq punk, don’t for 1 second of ur life think that ur a better man than i! what have u done ur life worth speaking of punk!

by deuce 4 on Nov 8, 2009 1:05 AM EST up reply actions

OHHHHH, so you really don’t know what P4P means. Sorry I thought you did and were just making ignorant posts. P4P means, imagine everyone weighed 185 pounds, who with the skills they have would be the best. What you described would just be the toughest man in the world contest. If P4P was decided the way you thought it was, why would anyone below 205 ever be considered? GSP would lose to a lot of people bigger than him, your P4P makes no sense.

by jay on Nov 8, 2009 1:08 AM EST up reply actions

deuce, not to be a total douche, but taking orders from someone in a war that should have never been is not worth speaking of either. When you see an Iraqi walking down the street or trying to defend their country even, do you believe they should die? Plus I am 34, far from a mommy and daddy’s boy. And don’t be mad at me because my grades were good enough to go to school instead of enlisting.

Carwin has a better chance than Rogers does thats for sure. With out a doubt the best HW in the world are in the UFC and I’m not a UFC only nut hugger it’s the truth take away Fedor and the UFC HW would destroy the Strikeforce HW fighters rogers is maybe a top ten maybe. Strikeforce has pretty good evenly matched competition though minus Fedor.

by Beaver on Nov 7, 2009 11:49 PM EST up reply actions

did u see what no hands gonzaga did to carwin?! lol, brett rogers would KO shane carwin EASILY!! did u see how kongo dropped cain, brett rogers would KO cain velasquez EASILY!! the only HW in the ufc that fedor hasn’t already dominated “Nog” that could even beat brett rogers is lesnar. i think nog could beat rogers too, but that’s irrelevant considering if nog had to fight fedor again nog would probably get permanent brain damage. he’s been beat on the head by fedor for 40 minutes, another 25 mins of that power would be fatal. carwin n cain’s wrestling wouldn’t mean shit to rogers, he’s too big and wide and massive. carwin can’t even wipe his own ass when he shits, how would he get his arms around rogers to get him down? say what u want, but the man fedor beat 2nite is better than all but 2 of the ufc’s HW’s

by deuce 4 on Nov 8, 2009 12:30 AM EST up reply actions

Rogers is too big for Lesnar and Shane? Are you proof-reading any of this dribble? Brock and Shane are both bigger than Rogers. Plus they both have an actual background to help them. Shane and Brock weren’t changing tires and begging for change 2 years ago.

was carwin even fighting 2 yrs. ago? lesnar and carwin need to fight. they’ve gotten off easy ever since they started fighting and they’ve never had to fight anyone their own size! u talk like their victories are big deals! come on man, who should win when 1 fighter outweighs the other by 30 lbs. u act like a 280 lb man beating a 240 lb man is something special! that’s nothing special at all! if anything those wins should be considered cheap. that’d be like pat berry demanding introduction to the ufc HOF after beating clay guida!

Gozoga is just as big as Carwin FYI. there are only a hand full of fighters that are any good over 250 pounds deuce Rogers is one of them The best two fighters over 250 are going at it whenever Brock gets over whatever sickness he has like really who is the biggest guy Rogers has faced LOL?

FYI,gonzaga tops out at 250, carwin’s went on record saying he cuts to 265 from about 280. ah 250-280, apples-oranges. so because there aren’t many good fighters 250+ that’s supposed to make brock’s dominance more legit or what. maybe that’s why he got into the sport in the 1st place, cause he knew he would be the biggest guy in the cage anytime he fought. maybe he’s havin second thoughts about fighting carwin, maybe he doesn’t like the idea of facing someone his own size for once in his life

by deuce 4 on Nov 8, 2009 1:12 AM EST up reply actions

A background Deuce, You know as in wrestling their whole lives. Rogers was a clerk at Sam’s club. Why is it that every Brock hater brings up the weight difference? Do you think he invented the weight divisions? He is just a fighter playing inside the rules, he’s not making them.

by jay on Nov 8, 2009 1:16 AM EST up reply actions

get this straight. i’m a Huge fan of lesnar’s. i like his attitude towards fighting, i love his nononsense, no shit talking approach. i like his down to earth lifestyle. no he’s not making the weight classes, yes he is following the rules. that doesn’t make his accomplishments astonishing or spectacular or anything like that. it just means he’s making the most of every advantage he’s got. in fact, brock should NEVER lose in the current weightclass system they have. no man with any fighting skills at all should ever lose to a man 30 lbs. lighter than himself. u think brock’s win’s should be applauded, i think his losses should be ridiculed

by deuce 4 on Nov 8, 2009 1:29 AM EST up reply actions

Now, where all Fedors haters now?

by zheka on Nov 7, 2009 11:32 PM EST reply actions

Dude, that wasn’t an amazing win. It just shows that Fedor won’t be able to handle a guy like Lesnar on the ground. He will need to KO Lesnar, and if Lesnar gets inside his guard it could be trouble.

Fedor got rocked on his back.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:34 PM EST up reply actions

I think your right his management knows this and did what they think is the smart thing for his career but luckily fans have more say than anything and more and more fans are starting not to see Fedor as the best and I think the right thing because if you want to be called the best you must face the best.

by Beaver on Nov 7, 2009 11:56 PM EST up reply actions

so u wanna say some fighter in an org. whose belts change hands as often as the moon is more deserving of the top ranked HW spot in the world? if that were the case how many different #1’s would there have been over the past 18-24 months?? 5? sylvia, then couture, then nog, then mir, now lesnar, soon possibly carwin. come on man, u cant have a revolving door at the top spot. let 1 man in the ufc get on half the run of title defenses like fedor’s had over the past 9 years, then possibly u got a legit challenger. let 1 man completely clean out the ufc’s HW division like fedor did PRIDE’s, then u got a case. say fedor comes to ufc, beats lesnar, then dana throws somebody else at him, then somebody else, then somebody else, til finally dana finds the magic bullet and someone beats fedor, and that would supposedly justify dana saying “see, told u fedor wasn’t the best in the world, took me forever to find out who really was, but i knew it wasn’t fedor”. that’s bs man and u know it

True. Fedor was in deep sh$t on the ground.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:37 PM EST up reply actions

How was that a lame fight you douchbag? Take the UFC’s balls out of your mouth and give credit where it is due. Lesnar is 4-1 and he fought washed up fighters. Fedor just KO one of the best uprising fighters out there. Rogers best part of the fight was on the ground you dumbass, when he was swinging at fedor from top.

Fedor is good but not unbeatable.

Bring on Brock. Vegas probably will not have Fedor as a favorite.

Fedor was a 6 to 1 favorite tonight and it was a close fight.

Not domination or anything.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:35 PM EST up reply actions

I totally agree. Fedor will continue to dominate the best that Sam’s Club has to offer until he chooses to retire.

by Beaver on Nov 7, 2009 11:44 PM EST up reply actions

All of you Brock nut huggers need to look at who he has fought, nobody, the mans record is 4-1 and your telling me that he will kill fedor on the ground? He got subed by mir in the first fight, if you put any of the fighters that Brock has faced so far in front of fedor they would get crushed. Give respect where respect is due, Rogers was put infront of fedor and he took care of business. When Brock beats 4 of 5 quality guys like carwin, Cain, nog or Santos we can say he’s up there with fedor. And I’m not a Brock hater i like the guy but I do t think he has 1 punch knockout power the only thing I’ve seen him do is ground and pound I think if he tried to bang with carwin or dos Santos he’s gonna lose the title. And just for the record Dana white is a cocksucker he talks too much shit if he was a man he would have got in the ring with Tito for the boxing match they were suppose to have but he pussies out. Oo yea and fedors record is 31-1-0.

by Thejok3r on Nov 8, 2009 1:32 PM EST up reply actions

I honestly can’t see the pound for pound thing. I think Alsitar Overian will be a legit test we’ll see. I guess he might fight Werdum next, I don’t expect that to be a good fight.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:34 PM EST up reply actions

by Beaver on Nov 7, 2009 11:41 PM EST up reply actions

by prokstar on Nov 7, 2009 11:42 PM EST up reply actions

by ItsCalledMMAnotUFC on Nov 7, 2009 11:36 PM EST reply actions

The only time Lesnar even looked good on the ground was against Mir.
If Rogers had Mir on the ground like he did with Fedor tonight (with a busted nose…and 4 unanswered punches)…Mir would have folded like a cheap suit….Fedor threw on an armbar.

That is the difference between Fedor and the best fighters the UFC has to offer.

Brock would not get away with what he did to Mir against Fedor.

You haters will alwyas hate even if Fedor beat Godzilla, Bigfoot, and the Incredible Hulk at the same time…..just deal with it…..Fedor is the best ever!!!!!!

by Jigga4713 on Nov 7, 2009 11:48 PM EST up reply actions

LOL!

“Brock would not get away with what he did to Mir against Fedor.”

Dude. Rodgers got away with plenty on the ground. Fedor can’t do much to monsters on the ground. We saw that tonight!

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:50 PM EST up reply actions

He got KTFO.

What are you using to prove your point? You got nothing…your guy got sucked into an armbar, then got KTFO!!!!!

You have nothing.

by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 7, 2009 11:55 PM EST up reply actions

LOL your man Fedor looked bad against the #9 ranked HW Intro fans are starting not to only look at the record but the quality of opponents on his record and you have to be honest take away Fedor the UFC HW division would destroy the Strikeforce division even with Fedor in the Strikeforce divison the UFC would destroy. I don’t think the MMA world is going to let Fedor get away with what some boxers have done and duck the top competion to gaurd their boxers inflated record.

by Beaver on Nov 8, 2009 12:02 AM EST up reply actions

Fedor would beat anyone in the UFC…no prob.

Why do you UFC fags always tunr to “the UFC ‘division’ is better”?

lmao…..who cares what “division” is better…..Fedor is the best.

by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 8, 2009 12:06 AM EST up reply actions

agreed. Fedor wasn’t strong on the ground and the #9 HW in the world or whatever he is, looked better in the fight until he got KO’ed

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 8, 2009 12:09 AM EST up reply actions

intro UFC fans are also MMA fans your man crush on fedor clouds your judgement and having any kind of intelligent debate with you is pointless.

by Beaver on Nov 8, 2009 1:27 AM EST up reply actions

“who cares what "division" is better…..Fedor is the best.”

Fedor is currently fighting in a division full of mediocre heavyweights. It’s time for him to prove that he’s still the best by fighting someone worth fighting.

by prokstar on Nov 8, 2009 9:16 AM EST up reply actions

Just for the record Mir was in that position and threw on a fight ending knee bar.

by Jigga4713 on Nov 7, 2009 11:55 PM EST up reply actions

No…Mir was on the ground…he didn’t get punched 4 times….not in the first fight anyway…the 2nd one…well we know what happened.

Fedor over any UFC HW….any day of the week.

by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 7, 2009 11:57 PM EST up reply actions

How many punches did he take? Lesner was on top of him punching him after he had just been in that position and dummy Mazagati stood them up. Same difference, both in a bad spot in the ground

by Jigga4713 on Nov 8, 2009 12:05 AM EST up reply actions

We need a poll system here. I would bet 70% of people would pick Brock over Fedor, especially after seeing how well Rodgers fared on the ground.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 8, 2009 12:14 AM EST up reply actions

“Fedor over any UFC HW….any day of the week.”

Then why is he ducking the UFC?

by prokstar on Nov 8, 2009 9:50 AM EST up reply actions

He’s ducking Dana…not Brock.

by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Nov 8, 2009 10:19 AM EST up reply actions

He’s afraid of fighting Dana?

by prokstar on Nov 8, 2009 11:05 AM EST up reply actions

This was a perfect fight for Fedor. A guy who looks pretty tough but really doesn’t have any fundamentals. Doesn’t know how to use his hands when standing up, can’t defend, and average ground game.

Perfect fight for Fedor to win and introduce himself to America.

And because it was close makes people think Rodgers is better than he is.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:39 PM EST reply actions

Lesnar is an all-american wrestler, and with his size and brute strength Fedor would have zero chance of getting Brock out of the top mount position. Let canned hams commence reaaranging Fedor’s face!

by Special K on Nov 7, 2009 11:39 PM EST reply actions

Lesnar would destroy Fedor on the ground.

We saw Fedor get handled by Brett “I have 0 ground game” Rodgers.

Lesnar + Ground = Big trouble for Fedor.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:48 PM EST up reply actions

Good fight. Rogers thought he had fedor just because he was grounding and pounding him? WRONG. You never count out fedor until you have your hand raised. Fedor was timing Rogers so he can pull off the armbar. Fedor is the best at capitalizing on people’s mistakes. His gameplan is formed inside the ring and as the fight goes on he feels out the opponent and goes in for the kill at the right moment like he said in the interview.

Please no rematch because it would just end the same or even faster win for Fedor. Bring on Overeem who will pretty much suffer the same fate.

by remedy on Nov 7, 2009 11:44 PM EST reply actions

I do have to give Fedor credit. He is great at capitalizing on mistakes. He’s not luck, just scarred to fight top competition.

by Jigga4713 on Nov 7, 2009 11:52 PM EST up reply actions

I just don’t see why Fedor doesn’t want to test himself against the best. I tend to believe Dana offered him more money than Strikeforce…….So it has to be his Management. I just wish we could put the discussion to rest. Either he is the best and proves it or he gets exposed. But I don’t think you can claim any kind of pound for pound if you are not testing yourself. Rodgers reminds me of a poor man’s Kongo.

by Jigga4713 on Nov 7, 2009 11:46 PM EST reply actions

lol.

Agreed. Must fight the best, not the 7th or 8th best in the world.

What if GSP just fought 7th or 8th best WW? He would destroy them. Imagine any other champ only facing the 7th or 8th best guys or worse.

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 7, 2009 11:49 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah Rogers has talent but he’s not there yet he needs much better cardio for starters and to be working on his ground game he had Fedor in a bad position and gased and made a mistake but if his endurance the other fighters in the Strikeforce HW division are all around his calibure and better fights for him at this point and time.

by Beaver on Nov 7, 2009 11:53 PM EST up reply actions

fedor got owned on the ground, he looked underpowered and rogers was able to power out of his sub attempts. he did take some great shots. if rogers would have sustained a ground attack he might have won, but daaayyyammmm, fedor has wicked power and a wicked chin.

by Conan the Barbarian on Nov 7, 2009 11:52 PM EST reply actions

by JeremyJackscan on Nov 8, 2009 12:17 AM EST up reply actions

The one thing that really impressed me was Fedor’s speed, he lands that shot on Lesner/Carwin/De Santos and it’s the same result. Fedor fought an really smart fight, he’s so calm and calculated when he’s taking shots.

Rodgers fought a good fight until the end, I’m not sure why he says he’d let his hands go more in a rematch. His only chance to win was to defend the sub and hope to take it to the 3rd round and GnP a fatigued Fedor.

by MXN on Nov 8, 2009 1:24 AM EST reply actions

That was an awesome fight and an awesome performance by Fedor. he fought through a broken nose and beat this guy at his own game—THAT’S WHY FEDOR IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD. And Brock … Brock is too scard to fight a real striker. mono … 4 months. Please, he’s scared. and he sucks.

by jascri on Nov 8, 2009 2:26 AM EST reply actions

“he fought through a broken nose and beat this guy at his own game”

He beat him at changing tires?

by prokstar on Nov 8, 2009 9:19 AM EST up reply actions

same old story lol, fedor was beaten until he threw that “lucky” punch he always throws lol. gee how many times has he thrown that “lucky” punch lol. once again(insert name) had him beat till he got “KTFO”. somebody will beat him, eventually.

just strikes me funny how so many( who have never walked the walk at that level)can hate on a fighter that has held a strap longer than most of the best he’s supposedly “scared” to fight, have even been in the sport. just like coutour finds a way to win in fights he had no business winning but he’s a f@#$%^ MMA hero( no diss intended towards randy at all).

let’s face it, as long as the fighters remain in locked(guaranteed)contracts and just getting paid to show up, the best will never fight the best anyway.
