Come on Jesse…I was expecting a photoshop edit…maybe of the both of them with ice cream cones in their fists. I can only help but wonder what kind of sweater Fedor is wearing underneath his jacket.

Love the smirk on Fedor’s face. I think HE doesn’t even take Rogers seriously. He’s thinking, “I am sooo gonna beat this guy’s ass that it is not even funny. So do not laugh!”

Can’t wait for saturday night! With all of the recent injuries/fight delays, please let this card be good!

Where’s Mayheim and Shields??? I’m disappointed that Strikeforce has put no light on this fight.

by PACO on Nov 2, 2009 10:49 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Me to PACO I think that truly is going to be the fight of the night. LEts be honest if Rogers doesn’t catch him he is getting subbed. Now Mayhem and Shields is going to be great. I am a huge fan of JAke Shields but I think Miller is going to completely expose Jakes standup. I will be super impressed if Jake pulls this off, but I don’t see it happening.

1st? Lol jk. Anyways to tell ya the truth, I’m looking fwd to this card more than I did for 102, 103, 104 & same goes for 106. This card stands to best them all. Plus its free. And I spent 50 on the others.

I kno I’m gonna get pounced on but I see big bright things for STRIKEFORCE & Dream in near future, and.. Ugh here comes the part I’m gonna get killed for.. A steady decline in UFC interest.

Sorry guys, I’m as big a fan as the next Guy, but UFC is showing me very poor decisions and also some unavoidable Misfortunes that came along as well.

Too many injuries, too many ppl leaving for retirement, or acting, or other organizations, and too many Dana big mouthing. Sorry again guys, just calling it like I see it.

I’m also more impressed with strikeforces production value of the fighting & stats graph immediately following the fights. Maybe not their production value in terms of commentating etc but that’s still to come.

And I’m extremely, overwhelmingly more impressed with Dream’s great production value. Their very far ahead in easy on the eyes, entertainment etc.

And Dana and UFC just don’t seem to be advancing or capitalizing on some of these idea other orgs are using.

Lol bring the h8

I fully agree with the part about the UFC stagnating and have suffered some bad happenings as of late BUT I think Strikeforce will be going under. They are spending money out the ass and Fedor will be there Kimbo, if he loses then game over. I also think they are very condescending in thinking a vast majority of people will buy Shamrock’s thought that Bret Rogers is the number 2 heavyweight in the world. That kind of insult to fans and to the sport will lose them a lot of credibility.

by Edgecrusher71 on Nov 2, 2009 11:08 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Edgecrusher71, you should learn the intricacies of the English language.

Shamrock did not say Rogers is the #2 in the world. He said that Rogers is the “next Best” in the sense that he is the next generation and might be best in the future.

I can’t stand it that people are clinging to every word someone says in an unimportant promotional preview video.

Just enjoy the fights, and don’t flame on the promotion for putting on great free fights on Network TV.

by Instant_Noodle on Nov 2, 2009 11:49 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Nope he said Fedor is number 1 and that Rogers is the next best. Now you should learn about the intricacies of how to count… What number comes NEXT after 1… hmmm I believe it is 2 and what is said is important to understand how a company presents themselves. Does the UFC over-hype, you bet but to call Rogers the next best would be like the UFC calling Kimbo the next best. People would have a shit storm if the UFC said that. I will enjoy the fight but I find those comments condescending and I am not flaming them for putting on good fights, thats just ridiculous. I’m flaming them because why not just tell the truth. Fedor is a legend and Rogers is a one punch wonder who is dangerous for anyone but is no-where near the top. They could have compared and contrasted the opponent they have in common in Arlovski in hyping Rogers more instead of having it be a bold faced lie. You don’t see the NFL hyping a game like Lions vs (anyone good) and saying well the Lions are just as good, instead they stick to reality and that is just another reason why people take the NFL serious because there commentators do not have so much wrapped up in lying about a game. They go, the Lions could possibly win but they probably wont.

by Edgecrusher71 on Nov 2, 2009 11:57 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

wow overreact much? One line about Rogers from one guy and you throw a fit. I’m with instant—who cares it’s just a promotional video that few people have even seen? The matchup is no more/less legit than Carwin challenging Lesnar for the title, btw.

i agree frosnt, no different than the bs that dana tries selling people.

by roy on Nov 2, 2009 1:23 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I agree it is bad on both parties and the UFC has gotten better well because they have a better roster now and it used to irritate the crap out of me the garbage they used to say was a number one contender and general hype machines but I don’t think they would have even said Roger’s is number 2. They would have Rogan say the truth that this guy is dangerous and he is but thats it and everyone knows it. To do this hyping about being number 2 when he isn’t even number 20 just reminds me of WWE story building garbage and to higher degree than say Brock’s antics because Brock was put in his place by Dana for those actions where as Strikeforce is pursuing these antics with full force. These comments about Rogers just shows the desperation on Strikeforces part to legitimize Rogers and either they are so far removed from reality and professional MMA or they really think there are people out there who will think Roger’s is the 2nd best heavyweight in the world. Even if he wins he wont be the 2nd best in the world. Call it an overreaction if you want, I call it being irritated with garbage trashing up the legitimacy of a sport I love.

by Edgecrusher71 on Nov 2, 2009 2:47 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I have been saying it since day one. If Carwin can get a title shot with ony 1 decent win (Gonzaga), then Grimm’s big win (Arlovski) is more then enough to make him a legit challnger to Fedor especially when there iisnt even a title on the line!

I actually strongy agree with Daniel. UFC has been really crappy lately. Bad fights, terrible decisions, Terrible TUF season…Definitely not the golden age of the UFC. Only thing that the UFC has done to improve recently is airing 2 prelims live on Spike!

by john G on Nov 2, 2009 4:01 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Edge is right here, Rogers is NOT #2 yet SF is promoting him like he is. Yes Carwin got a title shot maybe early in his career but nowhere do you see him mentioned in any UFC promo as the #2 HW. I’m sure if he was all the Intro’s, roys, etc would be all over it.

by UFC Champ on Nov 2, 2009 5:07 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

to much reading

by JG on Nov 2, 2009 5:22 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

The big difference between the UFC and SF is how to promote an event, compared to the UFC SF have looked clueless despite having a ready made fight to promote in Fedor-Rogers as well as a stacked undercard on a major network. I’ve seen just as many vlogs posted for a substandard UK UFC card as there has been for SF’s biggest show to date, which to me shows how far behind the UFC they are. They’re limiting their audience and at this rate this card is going to be ignored by the casual fans because of poor promotion.

Most of their youtube videos have been unavailable to UK fans like myself and that is taking away the hype from the UK, plus they still haven’t got a TV deal over here, which takes away a huge international audience that the UFC currently have a monopoly over. The UFC are making millions from ticket and merchandise sales as well as TV deals and have done this unchallenged from SF or Dream, if either promotion wants to become a global force like the UFC then they’ll have to get their act together quick before the UFC become the only viable option.

The UFC may have been poor lately but don’t forget that 100, 101 and 102 were sick cards, the former smashing all other PPVs this year including WrestleMania and Mayweather-Marquez. They may be struggling with injuries to Andy, Machida, Alves and Lesnar causing some big fights to be postponed or cancelled, as well as the departures of Rampage and Hendo, but they are still making a lot of money.

SF don’t have any PPVs and Elite proved that you can’t rely on CBS for people to watch your shows, so it’s far too early to dismiss the UFC. Certainly there is a lot that they could learn from Dream production wise as well as the Showtime fight stats but equally Dream and SF could learn how to promote internationally and domestically, because right now it’s only hardcore fans watching their shows.

In the next 8 weeks the ufc are putting on 105,106,107,108 and TUF 10 finale – LW and HW title fights and these close matchups which have great potential and are the ones im personally looking forward to most.

Kos v AJ
Swick v Hardy
Palhares v Linhares
Lil Nog v Cane
Bones v Hammill
Evans v T.Silva
Bisping v Kang
Dos Santos v Gonzaga
Miller v D.Lauzon

+ PLUS ABOUT 30 OTHER FIGHTS ALL IN THE NEXT 2 MONTHS!

Strikeforce are pissin me off by blocking access to their promotional content and stopping the 96% of the worlds population who dont live in north america from watching this card live – or watching it at all.. how are you planning on watching david?

Just as an add on, and to wind John G up (no need to respond Johnboy, just read and learn), saying that Rogers is on an equal footing to Carwin is pretty far fetched i f not plain stupid. Both are big strong and can bang, that’s granted but the similarities stop there. Heres the difference -

Rogers has never shown any sign of a ground game and never competed in any type of grappling. He trains in a smalltime gym with no notable trainers or training partners.

Carwin is a highly decorated Wrestling champion, who has beaten strong wrestlers in MMA and beaten one of the worlds best HW BJJ Blackbelts after mixing it up on the ground. He trains at Jacksons submission Fighting with some of the best grapplers in the game – GSP, Rashad, Marquart, Condit, Jon Jones, Jason Macdonald and even Huggy Bear

If Rogers and Carwin were to fight the odds would go far in favor of Carwin making him a clear favorite because he has a huge advantage in his cage clinch, takedowns, top control and gnp.

Same goes for Cain, Brock, Nog, Randy etc. Roy Nelson would probably take him down and tool Rogers on the ground too. Deal with it John – Rogers is my favorite 1 dimensional HW brawler, but thats all he is. This fight with Fedor is a complete mismatch and will end on the ground early, we all know this so why pretend. Btw i put all my Betus account on Fedor winning this, its such a sure thing.

This matchup is the equivelant of putting Houston Alexander against Shogun.

Injuries happen in all sports, especially one where the object is to cause great physical harm to your opponent. The UFC is fortunate enough to have a deep roster to absorb even a crazy run of injuries like it’s had lately. A lot of people are upset because they had a fight or a fighter they were looking forward to seeing that is temporarily unavailable. But the UFC will keep trucking along, get some high-profile megafights and be just fine.

by PW on Nov 2, 2009 11:27 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I hope ur right that UFC will be just fine. And they most likely will be. Although I think UFC 100 & 101 were the climax. & I fear they will maintain consistency but rarely if ever touch 100 ppv buys etc. Maybe 108 will.

As for STRIKEFORCE folding, I don’t see it. And comparing Kimbo with FEDOR is awful, sorry bud, but that’s just ridiculous. FEDOR losing doesn’t bring STRIKEFORCE down either. They’re to far ahead with CBS, a deeper roster than elite, & not to mention FEDOR is just a wee bit more of a superstar and proven hw then slice… Call me crazy but I think he is anyways… Geez.
And p dub, I understand that injuries happen in mma. Thanks for the help tho. But when in the past did UFC continue to lose stars @ such an alarming rate? Injuries aren’t the only problem. Say what you want but losing page, hendo, huerta, etc, not getting FEDOR, gegard, production value rising and talent pools rising in other orgs, combined w/ a leader in Dana that’s proving to cause more harm than help at times, add that spider clearly voicing his displeasure & retirement talks after 3 more, & guys like bisping/forest/jardine/ etc not amounting to what some thought they would, main events being cancelled, its getting ‘iffier’ now then ever. That’s the point I’m trying to make.

by Daniel worby on Nov 2, 2009 11:46 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Daniel, as I can appreciate peoples concerns over poor cards, sometimes that’s the way it goes. How fast do we forget about SF and their all mighty HW champ Overeem getting hurt and not fighting – ever.

As for fighters coming and going, that’s nothing new. I’m sure that happens at your place of work as well as other sports teams and life still goes on.

One last thing, I’ve never heard all this “Spider” voicing his displeasure or retirement talk from him himself, it sure seems to be made up on the net and all. Just more hype machine at work.

Thanks for the support John G.

Tho I disagree with u edgecrusher ur points are to a degree valid. Although I do think shamrock meant “next legit hw of the world” when referring to Rogers as next best. But it could be interpreted either way by the manner in which he used it.

Sorry I don’t remember who it was above that mentioned that they were sure ppl leave my work etc, and that it just happens, but anyways, yes ppl obviously leave but my work doesn’t pay me due to the amount of ppl that pay to watch me work. Wow guys i’d feel real bad taking ur money if u guys paid to watch me work :)

For about 5 mins, then like a greedy mutha f*cka i’d take all ur money n go by a case of coors light, cause bud lite didn’t pay me nothing.

Very excited for this card & I will continue to support UFC, STRIKEFORCE & Dream, but I used to like UFC about 85%, strikeforce 10% and Dream 5% ish. But now I’m at about UFC 50% strikeforce 25%, Dream 25% so you can see where I stand a lil more.

by Daniel worby on Nov 2, 2009 6:42 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

No one can complain about a free card Daniel nobody. If you had to pay for this card there is only one major complaint and that’s the lopsided fights and there can easily be 3 or 4 one rounders = short fights for the bang one or two 1st round sub, TKO or KO. I’m a little worried about casual fan tuning in and seeing lopsided fights and thinking what a boring sport. I would like to see a couple even matches that would be hard to pick a winner and showcase the talent level and styles of MMA with a great battle if rogers goes to the ground and losses by a quick sub like Brock did against Mir that could easily happen and all the fights before were quick as well could equal a lot of critisism on the sport and a step back not only for Strikeforce but all of MMA. What has made UFC so popular is the great battles that get peaple talking and I don’t know if there is a great battles the I can’t see Shields having to many problems with Miller as in my opinion he’s around the same calibure as Shields last opponent lawler and a lot of boxing peaple knocking the sport. Hope i’m wrong and see a couple great battles there is one thing for sure Strikeforce has a great hype machine going hopefully they can put on a good show if so I see a network deal getting done sooner than later in the UFC and MMA fans will be treated to some great free fights!

Too many injuries, that’s part of the sport, what happens if just 2 guys on a Strikeforce card gets injured, even Fedor or Rogers?… UFC is deep in talent at least they can come up with another card… but that aside it looks like a good card and I’m looking forward to seeing Fedor get more popular in the states… however, I don’t want to see 1/2 the elite fighter’s in Strikefore and the other 1/2 in the UFC.

This is nothing but a coming out party for Fedor, to introduce him to the masses by giving him a warm up fight over a guy who is recognised as he KO’d Arlovski in front of a large viewing audience (Fedors KO was in Affliction which not that many people saw).

I predict a first RD submission victory by Fedor. Let’s not forget this is one of the greatest MMA fighter’s in the world ever who is going up against a brawler who hasn’t had many high calibre opponents. Should be interesting to watch how he gets mauled.

Excited about Mousasi vs Sokodjou! Mousasi by TKO, 2nd rd.

Comon people this is pathetic, you want to know why this is on free tv. It’s because if it was on PPV they wouldn’t sell enough to make money. All i hear is how the this cards better then the last how ever UFC cards, but i bet they still made money, Strike force has very few top 10 fighters, and if push comes to shove UFC could put on many more quality fight cards per year then Strike force could ever dream of. If you want to compare apples to apples then you can talk, but Strike force isn’t putting on an event every month so their is nothing to compare here enough said.

Fedor has fought similar opponents to rogers; he beat gary goodridge, mark hunt, tim sylvia, andre arlovski, mirko cro cop and semmy schilt.

He used to train and spar with his broth aleksander and also he trained and sparred against roman zentsov.

Fedor has experience fighting good strikers and good punchers; rogers isn’t much different from any of the people listed.

In the sherdog forum: Brett Rogers “Fedor has lots of holes in his game” someone said that rogers could be thinking that fedor isn’t that good because arlosvki was supposed to be good and he demolished him.

Rogers has said some ridiculous things like “He might be 30-1 but half those wins weren’t even under MMA rules, if you only count his MMA fights our records would look about the same.” from http://www.mmaforreal.com/2009/10/17/1089146/brett-rogers-says-half-of-fedors

I think Fedor will destroy rogers like he did to zulu and sylvia, 1st round tko/ko

While I am excited for the card, CBS really hasn’t promoted it that much where I am (I’m sitting in Chicago) other than few TV/radio ads. Even CBS’ “Fedor is coming” ad is lacking since it doesn’t give the casual viewer a clue of what’s coming. Add in the fact that Fedor isn’t exactly a ratings cash cow. I do want the event to do well, but all the “UFC has peaked” talk is crazy. If anything, Strikeforce could peak with this bout and that’ll be pretty disappointing. CBS has everything to gain here and nothing to lose while Strikeforce has everything to lose. I’m just really wary with this card. Kinda wish Fedor would’ve been introduced on Showtime to see how the audience would react. Too many “what-if’s” here.
