for anyone interested here is a video of hopkins and couture together… hopkins seemed very humble http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MqGnBvl1YM&feature=channel

He has to be humble. If he didn’t think Couture would have him begging for his life in about 30 seconds he would have kept up with that whole gay porn crap he was talking before. But since he at least has enough sense to realize Couture would murder him, he just kept his fool mouth shut.

we should start a petition to get the rematch free on spike.. if they really think the “fans” of shogun were robbed why make them pay $50 to watch machida win again?
they put shammy vs ortiz 3 on spike so maybe this one with the right amount of push will be free.. dana is a man of the fans

No Way!! Wanderlei sides with Shogun. I never would have guessed that. We all know Silva is a big Shogun supporter. He is hyping the rematch, way to go Wandy.

What Wand said! F*** the judges! Cecil wants us to go to hell ,well he can got to hell for costing Shogun the title and a win Bonus!
I had a similir thing happen to me liek wands bet. I bet an expensive dinner with a friend of mine and he was talking crap when he saw the results, but hadnt seen the fight. Itold him ti watch the fight the next day and to tell me who he think won. After watching the fight, he said i dont owe him anything cuz shogun was robbed. The bet just carries over to the rematch. WAR SHOGUN and WAR WABDERLIE

If your friend can accept that Shogun won, the your friend owes you a dinner. It sad that Shogun has to beat Machida twice to get his title and get Manalito an expensive dinner.

It amazes me how much people are going on about this decision. MMA is scored by ringside judges. They do not use instant replay, they just do the best they can and report it as they saw it. The system is prone to error and that is fine. If Shogun wanted that title he should have made sure the judges knew he won .. which he didn’t. It wasn’t a one sided beat down .. i mean its not like they were calling the cain-rothwell fight for rothwell. Honestly, no one really won that fight and if you think of the rematch at rounds 6-10 its really the best thing that could happen.
Shogun did not get robbed. Shogun left his wallet sitting on the floor and someone picked it up.
by boz on Oct 29, 2009 12:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
boz I like the analogy, he did leave his wallet on the floor. I agree with you 100% regarding the scoring system. It is prone to error and Shogun nor Machida visibly stole the fight at any point. Every round was super close so to get upset at the judges is ridiculous. Also they have the best seats in the house and they ultimately make the decision regarding who wins.
by MMAFan1981 on Oct 29, 2009 1:08 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I totally agree with boz, but can’t help but think that no one on here will listen to reason. I’m pretty sure all of you Shogun fans will just keep talking endless reams of sh*t about it. It’s getting rediculous in one of the threads a guy was saying that they should change the round scoring system, yer… one fight went against what you wanted so change the entire scoring system. Shogun lost the fight in the first three rounds, 4+5 he was dominant, but not enough to finish the fight and not enough to earn the 10-8 rounds required. Shogun lost a very close fight and performed better than most expected. There will be a rematch. Now everybody shut up whining about Cecil Peoples. Talking about him like he committed war crimes or something.

LOL well said what the F are peaple complaining about we get to see a second match because it was a close fight if it went the other way there would of been just as many complaining and Dana would of probaly said the same shit to hype the next one because rally he has no challengers besides Evans waiting in the wings this allows him to make another fight between the two to get a valid contender. If Sho wins we may get to see Silva vs. Sho! Now that I think of it we might of seen that fight if Sho won this?

I think people are getting confused Rua didn’t beat Machida, tagging him a few times doesn’t count as a win. But i’ll be fair Machida did’t win either, but lets show some respect to Machida rather then running the fella down. I’m sure Rua would want the belt on a more decisive manner, and Machida win and rematch was the only solution.
He (machida) done as much as Rua, everytime Rua kicked him, he received many punches to the face. I know what i would rather have received. I love rogan but he was firmly up Shoguns ass. I didn’t have a preference who won but after that one sided commentary i felt myslef pushing for Machida.
You all do it to Ando Silva now you are doing it to Machida. We want this sport to grow but from reading the blogs there are so many haters within our own sport. its f**king stupid.
by Dixon on Oct 29, 2009 12:58 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I was a fan of both fighters prior to the fight so no real bias either way. But I disagree that Machida did as much as Rua in the fight. While the judges won’t admit it, I feel Rua dished out more damage. I’d be willing to bet Machida had a lot of trouble walking on Sunday and that Rua really didn’t. It was OBVIOUS at the end of the fight that Machida’s ability to move on his feet had been greatly hampered by the Rua legkick attack. And isn’t it telling that Wanderlei makes a $50 or $100 bet with a guy and that guy betting on Machida tells him to keep the money because Shogun won the fight.
While I’ll admit it was a close fight and Rogan’s commentary was pro Rua, you can’t convince me that Machida won or that he deserves the belt because Rua didn’t win by enough. That’s BS.
Can’t wait for the rematch.

the rematch will be great. Im a big shogun fan and i want him to win the belt in great fashion lets just stop complaining about the result of the first fight!!!

Why don’t you try winning a fight first before you want to waste 10 mins of people’s lives.
by Eddie Vedder on Oct 29, 2009 1:13 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
he didnt waste 10 minutes of your life, you did. unless of course he was over at your house and put you in a headlock and forced you to watch it. if so, im sorry and i take it back.

Dixon ur right on about the fans of this sport preventing it from growing, it disgusts me when fans boo fights like they have the right to? On top of that it’s the same guys that moan about Hopkins ridiculing the sport but they do it themselves!!
by Mo on Oct 29, 2009 1:15 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Indeed, i was amazed to here a Champ boo’ed that is f**king retarded and the fans are a waste of time. I love this sport and all i thought is great another epic fight between two very skilled fighters.

Hey OJR…see what a real man does when he knows he doesn’t deserve to win a bet? He gives the money back.

HAHA…is he making you wear that name for a month?
by McArthur on Oct 29, 2009 1:23 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yeah even lesat was going to let me off the hook, instead i gave him double or nothing for the next. i get the name for 2 months if shogun loses. i guess lestat is just a better sport than ojr.
by roy on Oct 29, 2009 1:32 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Intro, I’d suggest double or nothin’ on the UK card but I’d hate to think about what you be named if ya lost again…lol
by McArthur on Oct 29, 2009 1:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yeah i kinda regret not just getting the month over with, i think shogun will win like he should have but machida is a great fighter and anything can happen 2 months seems like a long time.
by roy on Oct 29, 2009 1:42 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Hey Introvert,
No one forced you into this bet.
You crowed and crowed and I called you out.
You lost.
My father raised me not to be a whiner, eh?
Man up, brother.
by OJR on Oct 29, 2009 2:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I did man up (see the name).
It’s you who didn’t.
by OJR Is King (formerly Introvert) on Oct 29, 2009 5:47 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
If only I’d have taken the Intro offer first, damn it I’m too used to crazy money bets like Stinky makes and I presumed Intro made the same challenge. Then again I’d be embarrassed to win a bet on the back of that decision, I’d still take the win if it was at the bookies as they make a living out of robbing people but a name bet’s a different story it’s not serious and there’s no honour in winning a bet on a robbery of a decision.
Wandi is the man, he was spot on with his comments on Shogun-Machida. I’m gutted that he’s not fighting at 105, it would have been priceless to see him murder Bisping live at the MEN.
by David W-S on Oct 29, 2009 10:29 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
This is likely. But who knows – Shogun knows he can match Chida’s speed and catch him with harder shots from the outside – i really dont like how he covers up tho
he has an easier chance of getting tagged than machida

LADIES & GENTLEMAN, WELCOME TO THE MACHIDA ERROR!!!

Uhhh…..Machida won by unanimous decision in case you didn’t see the decision.

Its not even debatable that if Machida found Wanderlei, Wanderlei would need to get another surgery within 5 days after the fight….

please, Wandy would chop him up and hide the pieces
by FatAttack513 on Oct 29, 2009 2:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
As much as I like Wandi he’s too small to beat top 205lb fighters and is too aggressive to beat a guy like Machida. Shogun did so well because he fought smart and picked Lyoto apart, Wandi always rushes in looking for the KO making him prone to counterpunchers. A fighter as elusive as Machida would be a horrible match-up for Wandi.

Wand wud crush machida!! u saw how shogun handled him
by d*locc on Oct 29, 2009 2:44 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
i think this fight should be for free. shogun wasn’t the only one who got robbed. the fans got robbed too.
by Conan the Barbarian on Oct 29, 2009 4:41 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Shogun did not get ROBBED…in order to get robbed you have to win in an amazingly clear way. Shogun lost a close, technical fight.
Shogun put up an amazing fight and pressed Machida to his limits. Machida fought back just as hard. The commentary in the fight, thanks Joe!, was utter BS. Everytime Shogun kicked, that is all your were hearing about. But if you watched it, 95% of the kicks were answered with blows to the face of Shogun. End of the third round was a great example of this…Shogun kicks and was answered by an efficient flurry of strikes by Machida that put Shogun up against the fence. But all you were hearing about was Shoguns kick? Come on…
To the judges…strikes to the face > kicks to the leg/stomach. Also, take down defense counts as points. Machida defended 100% of Shoguns take down attempts.
I am in no way a Machida nuthugger…what I am however is a stickler for the rules. At the end of the fight I was expecting a split decision going either way.
The anti-Machida nuthuggers are going just as crazy with the accusations about Shogun being robbed as the Pro-Machida nuthuggers are about how he won.
I would have liked to have seen Shogun win the decision, but I was not upset to see the judges let Machida hold onto the belt. Shogun just did overwhelm Machida enough.
I do not like the way Machida won the fight, but he did. I am looking forward to this rematch, they are a great match for each other in my opinion.
