AKA has some rough weeks comin up. First Kos will get mack trucked then fitch will get beat down worse than his gsp fight.
This card is awesome. Sanchez isn’t top 10 LW but he’s on the cusp so BJ at least gets a top 15 guy on his resume. The Duffee gets some ring time with a gritty vet who hopefully can hold out for 3 rounds. I expect a Velasquez type fight. Then Kong trashes mir out of the UFC. Undercard has sick BJJ between Alliance and BTT. Of course always a pleasure watching Willy G put down a beating especially on a prick like Belcher.

Please name them
the top 10 LW’s… Sanchez is ABSOLUTELY top 10
by PHISH NATION on Dec 12, 2009 8:33 PM EST up reply actions
like always, I pretty much agree wit NNR’s entire post.
aka is going to have a tough few weeks and it all starts with Hardy upsetting Mike “I have been in the UFC forever and managed to fight no one except Okami which I lost to” Swick. Alves is going to BATTER Fitch and hopefully Kos is confident with that BS over hand right of his long enough for Rumble to leave him on the mat twitchin, stiffer then PW’s cock after watching Gay porn for an entire day (hahaha love you PW).
Sanchez isnt top 10 in terms of Resume, but I think he is better then anyone else in the UFC’s crappy lightweight division. I have said it repeatedly that Penn/Sanchez is the best lightweight title fight in the history of the UFC. Can anyone name a bigger lightweight title fight that has taken place in the Octagon? Its sad how over rated that the UFC LW division is, and that fans arent educated to realize how inferior it is to the lightweights in Japan especially in terms of skill level.
Mir is going to get destroyed! He will be out of the UFC in No time. I used to think he would be out of the UFC by the end of 2010…but because the UFC is so greedy and not a real sport that they will market the crap out of Mir/Nog 2 and Mir/Brock 3…so Mir has more time left in the UFC then I thought, more time then he deserves. what will happen is….He will get destroyed by Kongo..Then they will book him to fight a can, hoping he will win so that they can have him rematch whoever leaves the Brock/Nog fight without the title…Either way, he gets destroyed! Cant wait til Mir proves to be so garbage that even the UFC cant market him anymore. I would give my left nut to see him get outclassed by Werdum! Sad part is that Mir has a zillion more fans then Fabricio…thats how little fans know and how good the UFC marketing team us.
“Of course always a pleasure watching Willy G put down a beating especially on a prick like Belcher.” AMEN Brother! Preach on!

you agree with NNR cause you smoke the same shit
UFC’s crappy LW division??? WTH? It’s the deepest division they’ve got and hands down best LW division in the world. There might be 3 or 4 guys in Japan that are at the same level, but the UFC LW is stacked with them.
And how the hell is Sanchez’ record not TOP 10??? He’s 23-2 with his only losses coming to TOP-5 WELTERWEIGHTS. He’s (before tonight) undefeated at LW with wins over all the top LW gatekeepers, Florian, Guida, and Stevenson, not to mention Nick Diaz and Karo Parisyan. Besides beating BJ, what else could he possibly do to earn TOP 10 in your eyes? Beat Kenny, Clay, and Joe Daddy AGAIN???
Diego is the #2 LW in MMA talentwise, his problem is that he’s not been in the weight class long enough to establish him. He’d be too big and well rounded for Aoki, Hellboy, JZ and Alvarez, while Gomi is past his prime. The guy is a beast who’s already proven himself at 185 and outclassed 2 tough opponents in Joe Daddy and Huggie Bear. BJ-Diego is a sick fight and the biggest LW fight since BJ-Gomi, I’m gutted that neither of them wanted to fight in the UK.
I couldn’t give a toss about Mir-Kongo, they are easily my least favourite HWs, both are one dimensional, overrated and arrogant beyond belief. As long as one of them gets stopped and the winner loses his next fight then I’m happy. John, Werdum is a lot better than Mir but blew his chance at stardom by doing nothing against AA and taking JDS lightly, turning up in a flabby mess before being destroyed. It’s a travesty that this fight is getting promoted over a sick rematch in Alves and Fitch (I’ve got Alves by UD as Fitch doesn’t get stopped but it’ll be close) and a good LW fight between Kenny and Huggie (Florian Submission R2).
I’m not a big Gouveia fan but I hate Belcher so I hope Willy G finally fulfils his potential and comes up with the win. Buentello is going to get smashed by Duffee, Todd is the real deal and Paul is not UFC caliber and his signing shows how weak the HW division is.
by David W-S on Oct 29, 2009 10:46 PM EDT up reply actions
Cain, Swick, KOS, and Fitch will all leave with wins. Cain already proved his point. Hardy is a joke and is extremely over hyped, this will be an easy fight for Swick. AJ is a beast but so is everyone who else who weighs 220 and tries to cut 25% of thier body weight before a fight. AJ will over cut and gas after the 1st round. Alves is a solid striker but his takedown defense is no where near the level as reported. Alves will see most of the fight from his back for a UD loss on his part.
by Arnold on Oct 30, 2009 7:19 AM EDT up reply actions
Well he did most of the cutting for the zenko fight. I doubt he’s gonna let himself get right back up there again seeing how he needs to jump right into another camp. There is 0 chance of more weigh in nonsense.
by NameNotRequired on Oct 30, 2009 8:13 AM EDT up reply actions
0% chance? Really? For someone who’s had 10 pro fights and missed weight 2 times(by over 5 lbs), I’d say he has a 20% chance of missing… With no recovery time he won’t have the muscle mass that he normal brings. I think AJ will look sloppy and be on his back within the first 2 minutes.
by Arnold on Oct 30, 2009 8:25 AM EDT up reply actions
Well loads of fights that I don’t see it the same way than you guys… Kos will UD AJ easily, Fitch will do the exact thing that GSP did by taking down Alves and holding him on the ground…he won’t get batter. BJ will lose drasticaly, I see Sanchez finishing him in 2 rounds. Diego would’ve destroy BJ at WW, I’m positive of that, so I don’t see the difference at LW. DuffMan will win but that wont be as easy than the Rottwell/Cain fight…Buentello is way better than Big Ben. Mir will get smash in pieces. Florini will get thru his hugging session with Huggie bear and will smother him with a good night kiss from a RNC. Toquino will get an easy win too, while DaMarques will get upset again. That’s my take on this event.

I agree BJ wins that, either a decision or a sub.
Frank vs Kongo
on the feet Kongo kicks Franks head clean off into the crowd, but on the ground Kongo just lays there like a big stupid idiot whilst Frank snaps his arms in half.
This fight will be decided by where it is fought.
Don’t know about the Kenflo and Guida fight but I could see it going either way, Guida may be too intense for him, Ken flo may be too technical for Guida, but you know there’ll be blood shed

Penn takes it but Diego will make it a scrap forsure. Other than control I don’t see where diego
Has an advantage. Bj has the crisper more powerfull striking, better jitz by tenfold, and
The flexability and TD defense to stifle Diego.
Penn 4th Round TK0
I like kenny a lot and poses huge problems for clay but ill stick with my boy and hope
For the best. Guida is one of the most exciting LW’s in the UFC. Tremendous hart, wrestling,
Cardio, and add in a stellar chin.
Bring On The Haters Guida Split Decision.
Mir is going to get smashed. He doesn’t have the standup even tho he thinks he does. Don’t
Get me wrong I like frank both as a fighter and commentator but Kongo is going to hit
Him hard and quick.
Kongo 1st round TK0
Alves is gonna give Fitch fits in their remtach. Fitch is a better version of KOS but I
Still see the fight going the same as Kos/alves.
But if Fitch can be on par with his TD then weKre all in for a long boring fight.
Alves ftw.

Diego will pose a threat in the later rounds…I think BJ’s cardio will be improved but I don’t think he’ll be able to keep up with Diego for any length of time past the 3rd
by McArthur on Oct 29, 2009 1:28 PM EDT up reply actions
The problem is Diego gets careless with his aggression and BJ will make him pay unlike other fights Diego has beat so if it even goes into the later rounds Diego will too beat up to have a endurance advantage. On the other hand Diego has the heart and if he fights a smart fight he has a small chance a very small chance.

I dont think cardio is a factor anymore – he went over 3 rounds against shrek, gsp and florian and never looked fatigued

sanchez i think is being well over hyped in this fight…he cudnt finish clay and same with joe daddy, no way in hell he will be able to finish BJ.
here how i see it going, sanches comes to octagon screaming yes, yes, yes, the bell rings, sanchez runs across the ring like a mad man throwing wild punches…. BJ laffs at him shouts No punches him in the head goes for take down, and gets RNC, fight over 4.31 of first round :P
by CoNr on Oct 30, 2009 9:24 AM EDT up reply actions
Diego has white crap in the corners of his mouth – that is all he has. He is not a nightmare anymore….used to love watching him fight as he gave it his all before he fought Kos and ever since then he has become extremely tentative. Best fight ever was Diego vs Karo……and that is when Karo used to be fearless as well.
Both of these guys should become the new ambassador’s to spring; Karo becomes Puxatony Phil and Diego fills in for Wiarton Willie. Why you ask??? Because both fighters are scared of their shadows these days…..Penn will RAPE Diego.
And Fitch will will over pumpkin head, I mean Cro-magnon, err Alves.
by deadgrassinyard on Oct 29, 2009 7:24 PM EDT up reply actions
if diego couldn’t knock out guida…..if diego wins it will be because Penn didn’t train hardc enough – which i don’t think will be a problem
I hope Mir swallows his pride and takes a page from Cain’s book and gets it on the ground – granted Mir isn’t the wrestler Cain is (obviously) but if he thinks he’s gonna win a muy-thai fight with Kongo – he’s gonna be on pills again soon
I thought Alves looked ‘game’ from start to finish with GSP – i PRAY Fitch gets lit up by way of stuffed take-downs from Alves, via knee’s

I hate Bj before and after the Gsp fight (comparing himslef to God) and I am a big Diego fan but honestly no one can beat Bj at 155. I wish Diego could acomplish that but I wouldn’t put my money on it.

I am also a huge Diego Fan. I’ll be rooting for Diego all the way, and i think he has a better than average chance to beat Penn, but I have to acknowledge Penn as the King of 155 until proven otherwise. Even though Diego’s standup is greatly improved, it is Penn’s biggest advantage. If Diego can weather BJ’s striking for the first 2 rounds, his chances go up a great deal in the later rounds. Diego has an unreal chin, so BJ has an opportunity to be the first fighter ever to put Diego on queer street. I’m betting against it. Diego’s a tough bastard, which is why i’m a huge fan. I can’t picture Diego tapping, and i can’t picture him getting dominated on the ground. Deigo’s scrambles are as good as anyone’s, and BJ is awesome in that aspect as well. This fight can go in many different directions, and it should be awesome to watch.

by nelson on Oct 29, 2009 4:24 PM EDT reply actions
Yeah…people actually picked KenFlo to win, How’d that work out???…lol…Put it this way guys, There is not one phase of the fight game that Diego is better, He has one chance and that is to get BJ to the 5th round and hope BJ gasses, because that is the only way Diego wins, I think that Bj will take advantage of Diegos aggression and will pick him apart boxing and Diego will start to get desperate and try to take him down and will be in trouble onj the ground as well…. Cmon Diego just got by Joe Daddy and Guida and both of those guys couldn’t last 3 rounds with BJ…War BJ, and will break Diego and tap him via Rear naked choke
by DB on Oct 29, 2009 4:49 PM EDT reply actions
You say that Diego has no advantages over BJ. I will give you four quick ones(mind you they probably aren’t going to win him the fight).
Speed- Diego is faster on the feet, also his combos are quicker seeing as how BJ likes to throw a lot of one punch combos.
Reach- Diego is longer than BJ. The pudgy prodigy is a midget.
Heart- Diego needs this win and will GO TO THE DEATH, unlike BJ when he claims it.
Stamina- Say what you want about BJ’s cardio, it isn’t now or will it ever be close to the Nightmares level.

I very much agree with ur analysis of the way the fight will go down. But I don’t agree that clay couldn’t get to round 3 with bk. I mean he’d lose, probs bad too, but I think clay could hang in for 10-15. But I do see Diego swinging with too much courage and confidence while bk stays back n calm and jabs Diego to reality. Then Diego looks to wrestle bk which won’t fare well either. I want Diego in this, but bk should take it in the 3rd or 4th.
Although I really h8 both so. Most hated you ask? Otay!
5. Cain valesquez
4. Diego Sanchez
3. Joe daddy
2. Bk Penn
1. Brock lesnar
by Daniel worby on Oct 29, 2009 7:30 PM EDT up reply actions
Your top 3 are the same as mine…..
1. Brock Loser
2. JB Penn + his mother (don’t hate her – just dislike how she has to fight BJ’s battles)
3. Joe “glass jaw”
4. The Counted Out Bisping
4. Karo & his sidekick midget cousin Manny Gay-bore-in
Dora won’t be swinging for any fences as he has lost that edge that he used to have……JB will win this via rubber leg shoulder separation.
by deadgrassinyard on Oct 30, 2009 7:58 AM EDT up reply actions
B.J. Penn, quite possibly the baddest man to ever sport the toilet seat hairstyle. But as scary as that may be, diego will take the belt by decision.
both fighters are to crafty to be finished.

This is a much better poster. The first one they did was hilarious, it looked like BJ was about to fight a little boy (sanchez).
WAR YES! YES! SANCHEZ!!!
by Nick on Oct 29, 2009 9:29 PM EDT reply actions
BJ will definently finish Diego. He is just on another level than the others that Diego has fought. Just like Penn/Florian, the competition each has had doesnt even compare. Good to see most expirienced poster’s picking penn, I was afraid of haters being irrational.

I’m going out on a limb and saying Diego wins by UD.
by Rakeback on Oct 30, 2009 12:24 AM EDT reply actions
I would cheer for BJ if he didn’t have such a big mouth. Nonetheless BJ should win but it would be great to see Diego with that strap. Something interesting to think about- it appears that you get better odds for Diego in this fight than you would have gotten with Shogun during his Machida fight and we all know how that fight went down. Maybe Diego can execute a nearly flawless gameplan for this fight similar to what Shogun did???
by Vern on Oct 30, 2009 1:41 AM EDT reply actions
Yeah, execute a nearly flawless gameplan but hopefully not get robbed.

GO DIEGO
undercard looks awesome any freebees on spike??
by HaroldHoward on Oct 30, 2009 6:59 AM EDT reply actions
Another thing about this fight…..i think a lot of people will come to learn that Diego’s BJJ is extremely UNDERRATED. Everyone just assumes that Penn’s BJJ is so much better, but Sanchez is training with the Masters in the Ribiero’s. Diego’s BJJ will keep up with Penn’s, no doubt. It’s Penn’s flexibility that is a differentiator.

Belcher will destroy Gouveia
Calling it now
by Lester The Pimp on Dec 12, 2009 8:20 AM EST reply actions
Because
Gouveia couldnt get down to 185. Wanted to do it at 190. Belcher said 195 so he didnt have to cut any weight.

Thanks man.
WTF is wrong with him? I really like Wilson, but come on, that’s twice.
You're a daisy if you do.
why so much hate for willy g
everyone is picking belcher to beat him…

Unfortunately,
I’m going with the upset! Diego just might pull it off! I think Mir will sub Kongo in the 1st after getting clocked a few times! Then I got Guida, Fitch, Buentello, Belcher and Burns! I know! Guida? Yep! Not that he’s as good of a fighter! But, he’s too strong and wild for Florian to sub him. But, anything can happen! We’ll see shortly!

the Burns idea didn’t work out! lol

Does that sound like I'm hating?
Wilson is one of my favorite fighters, but missing weight twice is unexceptable.
You're a daisy if you do.
Maybe you weren't talking but even with the missed I still got Gouveia by KO.
You're a daisy if you do.
nah it wasnt directed at you
just in general… nobody likes gouveia lol
i also have kongo by flying gogo-plata.
but seriously;
guida by SD,
penn by 3rd round sub
fitch boring UD
and Struve by sub rd 1

made the mistake last ufc
i had been warned that it only sells about 1 case a month at the beer store, but i refused to listen and well i found out the hard way. :( wouldnt suggest it to anyone
pwilson
Wow, i was picking Gouveia too.
So much for that
Going to church doesnt make you any more Christian than standing in a garage makes you a car.
great to see
awesome to see stefan say he felt it was a draw. great fight, the 28-28, im assuming one judge gave stefan the first round 10-8 and paul the next 2??
pwilson
or maybe
he gave Paul a 10-8 on the 2nd for the knockdown? I dunno. I gave Struve rd 1 10-9 and Buentello rds 2&3 10-9. for the knockdowns.
Guida
is a fun mother Fucker to watch fight. Everybody has their opinion about “huggie” but when he strolls into the cage and the pace he has is nuts
This is not good news. Good news is when the wife agrees to eat box for your birthday. THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!!

I agree
Guida’s got a lot of haters on this site who call him boring, but I don’t see it. I think he’s one of the most dependably exciting fighters on the UFC roster and I think the UFC and most of the fans agree. He was getting way more cheers than Kenny tonight.
BOOO fitch!
soo boring to watch imo. he shoulda lost to jeff joslin and it should be jeff fighting in the ufc now!! who the hell gets a timeout!?!?!
pwilson
FITCH
Probably the most BOOOORING fighter in UFC. Please start putting him on the undercard. YAWN. 6 fights in a row on points and still not a prayer of touching GSP.
holy shit!!! that was amazing!!! ok guys i wanna read what are you going to say about mir jajaja!!!
Believe in the Power of One
MIR
Hey he wins like that and I have no complaints with his talking, but can he do it against Lesnar?? I wouldn’t bet on it based on last time, although I hate lesnar enough to hope so.
Ughhh Mir.
Not a Mir fan at all, hate seeing him win, but gotta take my hate off to him. dropped kongo who everyone thought had the better standup and tapped him out quickly .
on a side not….Belchar has the worse tat EVER
pwilson
I thought it was Wayne Newton or Fat Elvis
Belcher is a moron! A face tatoo on your bicep is sure to get stretched beyond recognition!Add to that pink shorts and corn rolls and you get the lamest looking dude in MMA.
with a name like "Belcher"
you’d think he’d know better. This guy had to be the laughing stock of his school and then he goes on TV in pink shorts and cornrolls with Chairman Mao tatood on his arm!
Kongo got tooled
Wow. Impressive showing from Mir, although it was very brief, he did what he needed to do. What will it take for Kongo to learn some grappling?
In a weird way
maybe it takes kongo getting knocked out before he’ll learn some grappling.
Congratulations
go to Mir. People can’t seem to see through Mir’s UFC character. He is much more humble than he acts. He was very humble in victory just then, so why the hate?
agreed, much as I hate him, I'd say he's TOP 3- UFC
Brock and Nog are ahead of him. Shane needs another big-name win. Cain shouldn’t even be in the discussion yet. Mir/Carwin or Mir/Nog should be next. Mir would destroy Velasquez.
I think my hate for Mir
goes back to when he won the belt from Tim. He was soooo cocky before and after that, seemed proud of himself for breaking Tim’s arm and seemed to enjoy hurting people. He’s shown more sportsmanship lately, maybe after seeing what it’s like to get humiliated and then have a guy talk trash about you. Brock may have been the mirror he needed to see what an ass he’s been to guys in the past and how it made them feel. He said something at the press conference about not saying anything to Kongo cause he knew he was the last person Kongo wanted to see after the fight. He showed some compassion and consideration for Kongo’s feelings that I’ve never seen him show before. But he’s just soooo arrogant! It’s gonna take a while for him to reinvent himself as a sportsman if that’s really what he’s trying to do.
I hate belcher
but wilson where the fuck did you learn to box?? And How the hell is that good striking joe rogan and mike goldberg??? damn those fools know nothing about striking, especially rogan since he tries to front like he knows everything. Stick to the ground game rogan.
Oh man
lol. lost my shit with that recap “Guida belches loudly”

where's the headkick in this gif?
we see the result, but not the cause! Alpha, can you work your magic for us! Put BJ’s foot at the beginning of this gif kicking the Nightmare to the treeline.
Diego's boxing is horrible...
compared to BJ! He just throws his hand and brings them back low, and BJ counters with the left hook, every time. Huge difference in ability here. But Diego has crazy heart for surviving that first round.
Sanchez lol
Out of his depth. He’s got NOTHING. Where’s the YES gone now haha
Sanchez is just as much of a chump as GSP.
Both refuse to step up in weight, nut up and fight.
“Lightmare” had nothing.
YES!
GSP is too good for the WW division so he needs to get his ass kicked by a bigger better striker in Silva? Why?
GSP is a WW. period.
Might be early to say so...
But i wouldnt be surprise to see GSP in the MW division in the future… he’s not even 30 yet and he’s gettin bigger.
Now, is he going to fight Silva? I don’t think so…
And BJ look bad against GSP. He should stay where he is and he prove it again tonight.
BJ lost 4 out of 5 times
when he moved up in weight, and he’s one of the biggest LWs and the best LW of all time. So why would GSP wanna screw up his record like BJ did. BJ would be 14-1 if he’d stayed where he belongs, and nobody would be questioning him as one of the P4P GOATs.
sheesh
Total domination. Kenny and even Sherk put up better fights
Diego beat Kenny, Clay, and Joe Daddy
who else do you think he needed to fight “on his way up”. Who did Sherk and Florian beat that made them more worthy?
Let Aldo defend 1 or two times....
If he does, and in the same fashion he in which he has been winning, give him BJ. Honestly, the only fights that really interest me for BJ right now are Shinya Aoki and Jose Aldo (if he wins a couple more) Edgar, Maynard & Griffin do not interest me much. We have already seen BJ fight better opponents and dominate.
BJ has cemented his place with Anderson and GSP as untouchables. Absolutely amazing, don’t see anyone beating him@ 155 in the next 2-3 yrs
by domino effect on Dec 13, 2009 1:01 AM EST up reply actions
not the sam eweight class
Aldo fights at 145… you are ridiculous! BJ would murder any 145er… BJ needs to move back to 170. Thats the only place he will be challenged
by PHISH NATION on Dec 13, 2009 1:24 AM EST up reply actions
BJ lost 4 out of 5
outside of LW. He needs to stay exactly where he is, just like GSP, Hughes, Liddell, Ortiz and other long-reigning dominant champs.
You do know that Zuffa runs the WEC hype train too, right?
Don’t believe the Zuffa/UFC hype, but believe the Zuffa/WEC hype?
Glad to be free from Intro's tyranny.
I know that.
I was trying to explain the same thing to “Gold Diggah” as in: Don’t get too caught up in the UFC banner because some of the fighters (Jose Aldo) in the WEC would give BJ a really hard time. I’m not comparing the UFC to the WEC I’m just trying to point out that Jose Aldo is a good fighter contrary to the mainstream misconception that all of the good fighters are in the UFC.

Yes it is my birthday
Ladies and gentlemen, your fellow maniac just won 6 parlays one of them being a 10-fight. And it’s my birthday God bless Penn, Florian and Fitch. I’m out.
you have the same birthday as BJ
they said at the press conference that he’s 32 today. Dana White added, “32 and he’s finally decided to start training!”
