though i am excited for the fight i’m starting to not really care about the matchup. it’s a lose – lose warmup fight for fedor.

When you are the Greatest like Fedor is, everything is a lose/lose situation. He haS NOTHING TO GAIN at this point. He is always expected to win, and the haters are there waiting for him to make a mistake and get upset so they can Flame away. In all serious, how much would 1 loss really change Fedor’s legacy? I say it wouldn’t change a thing. If Brock was undefeated and he won about 10 fights in a row, then maybe he could challenge Fedor’s legacy…but even with a loss he would still be the best of all time!
The biggest Hater in mma, shane Carwin went out of his way to say that Fedor would beat Brock
Randy Couture wants Ricky Hatton to join the UFC. Hatton has a kickboxing background

what happens when a guy with no ground game or even groung fighting experience goes up against a good ground fighter. he has a chance at ko but if he doesnt get lucky he is subbed, this one will go off like a wet squib, rogers gets submitted and taps and nobody really cares.

John I’ve seen that story, it’s not going to happen. Hatton would make more money off 1 last superfight against Khan than he would off a multiple fight MMA career. Given his recent KO loss to Pacman and unprofessional approach to cutting weight he’s done as a fighter and will only have one last payday at best. There is no way that he will spend years training with Randy in BJJ and wrestling for an MMA fight that wouldn’t come close to the Khan payday against an experienced opponent that would most likely outgrapple him and beat him.
Fedor-Grim is a good fight, losing won’t kill Fedor’s legacy but it will kill his claims to being p4p #1 however that is the pressure of being the best in your weight class for so long. People shouldn’t bash Grim, I don’t think he’ll win but he will surprise people and could catch Fedor early like he did to AA.
I’d much rather see Fedor in the UFC, as fights with Brock, Carwin, Cain, JDS and even Randy and Big Nog interest me more than his potential SF fights. He’ll only fight Overroids in Japan, Big Foot is good but unproven and Werdum blew his chance in the UFC and would get killed in the stand-up (the only good things about that fight are Werdum’s BJJ threat and his win over Aleks). Having said that I want to see what Grim can do, he is as worthy a foe as Carwin, Cain or JDS after his smashing of AA and his undefeated record, give the guy a chance and don’t bash him until you see him.

Who cares it’s free I too think it’s another waste of a fight for Fedor but he said it himself he doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone. He has enough nut huggers already to pay the bills so whats another fight against a non top 5 opponent he really only has two top fives on his record and the best men he has beat he did not finish he won by decision and thats to bad for his nut huggers. The rest of us see the BS just think about it the best fighter in the world has not finished a top five fighter? Yes he is good so don’t think I hate him I just don’t think he deserves such high status for fighting opponents that prove nothing.

I will say I am rooting for the Underdog, Rogers (that was obvious, I guess I did not even have to state that). I really like him and want someone to toss a monkeywrench in Vladims plan. If Fedor looses it doesn’t taint his legacy but it does level the undefeated mystique of Fedor as well as his p4p status, which really is M1 and Vladim’s bargaining tool. If he looses to Grim I think it hurts their leverage a bit and it may be a little easier to get him into the UFC. I for one really hope he gets there soon. The UFC HW division is primed and ready for the picking. It has been a long time since the UFC HW division has had anything to be proud (not that Brock is a great rep for mma but he is a monster none the less. With his power and ground game, it could end up being a bad night for FEdor). I do like all the other opps. for Fedor though in the UFC: Velasquez, Dos Santos, Mir, Couture(hopefully not that he is a legit HW contender anymore but with his game planning and ability to stick to strategy it should be a great fight)and Brock. Wouldn’t mind seeing against Nog again, and I even like Gonzaga in a match with him. Lots of people don’t like Gonzaga but when he is on he looks good. I think style wise he makes for a good fight against Fedor as well as Brock.

people keep forgetting after this fight he only has 2 fights left on his contract as a fighter for M1 even tho he has like a 20% share or something along those lines,
strikeforce is a warm up to get him ready for the cage, he clean out there Hw’s ( with exception i think of overeem who i think will be a tough fight for fedor) then move onto greener pastures in the UFC

good posts guys!
David: I agree that Rogers shouldn’t be written off! If fans can accept Carwin getting a title shot after proving NOTHING, THen Rogers shouldnt be bashed for getting a title fight. as Fedor’s biggest nuthugger, I have to admit that THE GRIM scares the Fock out of me! If he puts 1 on ANYONE"S chin, they are going to sleep!
I would love to see Grim vs. Dos Santos

JOhn great call on Grim vs. Dos Santos! I Would honestly like to see Grim and those big hands against anyone. I hope he progresses and learns a decent ground game/takedown defense….
by Da Monkey on Oct 30, 2009 7:21 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Hatton wouldnt make it in the UFC or Strikeforce/Dream his Chin is question-able and with tiny gloves if anyone connects he will go nighty night, on top of that he cant learn good BJJ defense or wrestling anytime soon so not sure wtf Randy is thinking…

John I totally agree with you….Fedor can never win another fight and in my eyes still be the greatest heayweight I have ever seen…The comeback victories are outrageous = Randleman and AA just to name a few, some fighters maybe have 1-2 of those Fedor has at least 4…I still want to see him in the UFC but if not he is still the best…that being said I will be extremely nervous next Saturday

Fedor vs any of these opponents is a damn good fight:
Grim
Werdum
Overeem
Bigfoot
Better then him going to the UFC to fight a bunch of wrestlers that he would just armbar

This match up is sorta boring to me. But its Fedor so of course there’s reason to be excited.
I’m waiting for Overeem Fedor. Overeem is a beast.

oh, and off topic, but my theory on this season of TUF—
MAYBE, the good fights that Dana’s been talking about are Team Rashad vs Team Rashad. Just a thought, but Page’s team has been crap, but going 0-7 cant just be the coaching. the fighters suck too. so maybe Rashad picked ALL the good fighters. anyway, thats me reaching for a last glimmer of hope that this season will get better.

syn – there is a reason hw are in such short supply. tuf 10 is worthwhile even for 1 or 2 new hw finds. and im with you on the better natches still coming
by Paniczoo on Oct 29, 2009 10:02 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Greg Jackson knows potential Synyster. In the first episode you saw the way they chose teams. So yea, Rampage sucks in all aspects of coaching. But i am still queezy from Dana’s “they were throwing BOMBS!” or cumming all over his pants after a sh!tty first round yesterday. Absolutely disgusting – anyone who disagrees is a ufc shill and delusional.

john wins the award for most ridiculous post of all time!!! one hit wonder grim, steroid overeem, ufc drop out werdum, and steroid head bigfoot are better competition than ufc heavies… hilarious!!! werdum got ktfo by dos santos (ufc). overeem and grim will get taken down and subbed by fedor so fast you wont even know the fight has started yet… but thats better than brock, carwin, nog, dos santos, cain, gonzaga, mir?
by ---Caesar--- on Oct 30, 2009 12:36 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Brock, cain carwin, Dos santos are good fights… Well the winner of brock and carwin will be a good fight. Leave Mir out.. He is not that great and is way overrated because of the UFC marketing. Big nog would not be a good fight. Fedor already has two wins over him.

Brock is to green, he’ll get smashed on the ground. None of the match ups anyone is talking about interest me. Brock should get out of the hw division since imo he is far ahead of anyone in it. He should drop down to LHW, I’m not 100% if he can do that but he is a small hw and would have a lot more interesting match ups with faster fighters.
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Oct 30, 2009 9:31 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Cogito, are you saying Brock should drop down because he is a small HW? I don’t understand your statement. I think you meant to say Fedor should drop, no?
by jay on Oct 30, 2009 9:47 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Brock is too green and then you said that he’s far ahead of anyone in the HW division and he should drop down to LHW? Perhaps you meant someone else Cogito?
Overeem and Big Foot are the 2 best match up for Fedor. All the rest is a joke. If and when Brock will get thru Nog then I’ll say that he’s ready for Fedor until then he ain’t. Carwin, Dos Santos, Cain, Gonzaga, Muur, lol…please. Dos Santos got problems to beat an over the hill Cro Cop(“over the hill” from everyone point of view)a guy that Kongo and GG destroyed before him. Cain is still a blanket, Carwin only got 1 good win over GG and Muur the irrelevent…lol. The UFC opponents aren’t really better in any way than Big Foot, Rodgers, Overeem.
by Alpha Male on Oct 30, 2009 9:53 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Sorry that whole statement was about Fedor, I was saying Brock is to green and would get smashed by Fedor on the ground. Also saying that Fedor is much better than any fighter and that he is a small HW. I thought it was pretty easy to figure out who I was talking about but I guess not.
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Oct 30, 2009 10:15 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree cogito, from a fans perspective, lhw has way better fights for fedor, first and foremost Anderson Silva!!! that is ofcourse if Fedor joins the UFC and cuts down before Anderson finishes his contract and leaves, so I may be living in dream land here, but I think that would be the Ultimate MMA fight!!!! the two p4p top guys having a fight. Probably never happen, but if it did it would be the hugest fight in the history of MMA.
by Spinning Fat Kick on Oct 30, 2009 10:24 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
How can Fedor lose enough weight to fight LHW? Running with those homeless dudes isn’t going to help him lose enough. Fedor should stay where he is and continue dominating larger men. It makes his wins all the more impressive. If he dropped down all the haters would have another excuse to bash his fights. WHHHHAHHHH he is a HW fighting smaller guys WHHHAAAAAAA. Stay where you are no reason to change a winning formula.
by jay on Oct 30, 2009 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
You are really worried about the haters. Fedor isn’t though. He already has proven enough to me that he can handle everyone at HW. I’m expecting him to show just what a novice Brett is comparred to him. btw if you didn’t know this, Fedor has said that his hardest fights have been against smaller guys who normally could be LHWs. Fedor would be proving a ton by dropping down a weight class. He’d be proving he can reign atop what is widely considered the most talent rich and tough weight class there is. And he’d be proving he has been fighting above his natural weight for years and dominating. like I said I just don’t know if he could drop enough weight and how it would affect his game.

There really doesn’t seem to be any good competition for fedor anywhere. he’s clearly the best mixed martial artist to ever live. John, I’m amazed you think the Strikeforce competition is better than the UFC’s for Fedor. Bigfoot got popped for steroids, Overeem is hugely overrated and also a juicer and Werdum and Grim are just jokes (not in general but when compared to Fedor). Meanwhile in the UFC he could take on the person most people (myself NOT included) think is #2 in Lesnar, Junior Dos Santos who looks great, Couture (yes, I know he dropped to 205), and many others. How is Strikeforce the place with better challengers?

John G you have simply copied that from another site, Randy wants hatton to join mma, hatton has a kickboxing background? The truth is hatton done kickboxing when he was a kid!!
Hatton admires the sport of mma but there is no way at his age hes gony fight in the cage and train enough to learn aspects of the sport hed have to, to be sucessful. Plus he fights at 140 which is way too small for the wrestlers at 155!! On top of that hatton has stated he doesnt have the hunger for training anymore, so its a no no, plus is he really gony take like a £7million pay cut per fight??

That’s a good question, actually.
I’m sure the rankings at HW will be all over the place if that happens. Rogers would probably be ranked anywhere from #1-#3 depending on who is doing the ranking. It would be interesting.

Okay, Frank is hyping up the fight and saying Rogers is the #2 guy in the world. I disagree with him (as we all do), but I also disagree with anyone that says Crock Lesnar is the #1 or #2 guy in the world when the UFC hypes their events….what’s the difference?

Brock is number 2 IMO. At least until someone does something to prove otherwise. If Fedor loses he doesn’t move, unless it is a 5 round beating. If Grimm is able to get a quick KO it proves nothing.

by bocephus on Oct 30, 2009 10:08 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I do agree that Fedor will win. I do however think that Rogers has a chance. We have all seen how former Pride guys have had a hard time transitioning to the cage, and whether or not Fedor can do that is still a question that needs to be answered. Don’t get me wrong…I think if anyone in the world can make that transition, it’s Fedor…bit that’s still something people should consider.
With that said….Fedor for the clinch, takedown, and armbar….round 1.

It is unfortunate that CBS production knows so little about MMA. Kimbo falls to his back with a guillotine and CBS splices in the comment “he drops him with a double leg”. Then there is Frank Shamrock letting everyone know that Fedor is #1 but here we have the #2 Brett Rogers. What about Strikeforce’s heavyweight champion or that whole other organization called the UFC. Give me a break!
