Hey nice Rounders reference! But yeah, Dan Henderson deserves a bit more than he was getting. He adds a lot to both the MW and LHW divisions!
by haglnuts on Oct 28, 2009 2:36 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He should be making around the same as Alves, Rampage & NOG for sure I don’y know what they are making I hope Strikeforce doesn’t snag him as it would put a real contender at LHW and by this video he prefers the LHW but for him it would be much less comp besides on gut Sobral would get destroyed by Hendo hope he sticks in the UFC becuase there are so many great fight he can be in but maybe he realizes the potential fights and the toll it’s going to take win or lose. Silva, Marquardt, Belfort, Wandy, Rua, Machida, Evans, tito to name a few all = great fights. But on the UFC side is he going to be super human like couture and his age will have little effect on his ability because at his age he can easily drop from #2 to #8 in the matter of 2 or three fights then will his remaining fights be worth his salary it’s a risk I don’t know how much he’s asking for but it must be high.

please shut the f**k up!!! you had your chance at silva and he beat your ass and youd have even less of a chance the second time!!

You shut the FUCK up turd.
You need the Bisping treatment.

really? he had his chance? GSP had his chance with matt hughes one time, but what happened the second time they fought?
by child on Oct 28, 2009 12:14 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
ooooohhh not really. considering the differences in style, age etc… that’s a terrible comparrison. Matt Hughes is not Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson is not G.S.P.
With the Hughes, G.S.P fight, you have a YOUNG super skilled kid in G.S.P against an old former champ who’s skills are diminishing.
With the Henderson, Silva fight, you have a younger (5 years younger than hendo) super skilled CHAMPION in Anderson Silva who just destroyed an older Henderson.
Basic difference – G.S.P is a young marketable fighter who got a re-match with Hughes because he deserved it, he’s marketable, he’s young, and he had the skills to beat hughes and everyone knew it from their first fight.
Henderson is a fighter on the downside of his career, not very marketable anymore. There is a at least one YOUNGER fighter who deserves it more (marquardt) and Anderson is still somewhat young (unlike hughes) and most see him destroying Dan in the re-match. Unlike G.S.P/Hughes re-match where most of us had G.S.P (i know i did).

it was a good comeback…Dan would beat Silva if they fought again
by McArthur on Oct 28, 2009 1:35 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Wrong. Sorry, i just don’t see slow, plodding “Hollywood” doing anything significant to silva.
Do not even bring up the first round of their first fight. If he’s destined to beat silva, and started to, why did he get taken to school the following round?
by jammin on Oct 28, 2009 2:22 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I dont know if dan would win but I think if uses his wrestling and controls the fight he could pull it off I give him way more of a chance than Vitor just becouse I dont think anyone is gonna outstrike silva and I dont think vitor can be able to take him down and submit him.
I really think a real good wrestler will have the best chance to beat him
by Nor Cal Mexican on Oct 28, 2009 2:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Blunt n Beer. Don’t forget GSP also went and destroyed two top contenders before they gave him his rematch. Dan can’t beat Silva and I wouldn’t pay 50 bucks to see him as the main event either. 2 good reasons for no rematch. If he were to beat Marquart first, then I would demand a rematch just like you guys.
by jay on Oct 28, 2009 2:33 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i didn’t forget i just didn’t mention it jay!! hahah thats a good point though cause G.S.P did do that where as Dan won an extremely controversial decision and knocked out one of the most over-rated fighters in the division.
i agree i woulnd’t pay 50 bucks to see dan as the main event thats just a joke. i honestly do not see why he thinks he deserves a shot more than marquardt. thats just ridiculous.

I think my post might have sounded like I wasn’t agreeing with you BNB. I totally agree with your post but was adding a little to it.
by jay on Oct 28, 2009 5:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He had a shot in 2 weight divisions and lost them both. And to answer your question; GSP was 26 when he beat Hughes in the rematch not 38!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Age does matter…You don’t get better when you are approaching 40, sorry to say.

EVERYONE FORGETS THAT HENDERSON HAS ALREADY BEATEN VITOR!!! VITOR IS SCARED TO DEATH OF SILVA YU CAN SEE IT IN HIS EYES!!! GIVE DAN THAT FIGHT WITH SILVA AND LET DAN KNOCK HIM OUT LIKE HE DID BISBING!!! I MEAN DAN GOT CHOKED OUT WHERE NATE GOT KNOCKED OUT!!! so FOR YOU GUYS SAYING DAN HAD HIS CHANCE, SO DID NATE… SO LETS FORGET NATE AND DAN THEN LET SILVA KNOCK OUT VITOR AND LET THERE BE NO CONTENDERS IN THE 185 DIVISON!!! THE WAY THE UFC SHOULD HAVE DONE IT WAS, SILVA VS HENDERSON, AND NATE VS VITOR!!! VITOR FOUGHT FRANKLIN AT A CATCH WEIGHT NOT AT 185 HE DOESN’T DESERVE A SHOT. FIGHT NATE, IF HE WINS THEN FIGHT WINNER OF SILVA AND HENDERSON!!! DANS THE MAN!!!!

Hendo, you aint done anything. You lost the TWO major chances the UFC gave you against Rampage and Silva. You then somehow won a decision against Rousimar Palhares which I still disagree with after having watched the fight 3 times at this stage. The judges robbed Rich Franklin of a win over you in Dublin and well, you knocked out Michael Bisping so I’ll give you that. Shame that knocking out the most overrated fighter in the history of the UFC doesn’t get you a title shot these days.
Step up to the plate, almost all MMA sites rank Nate and Vitor ahead of you. If you think you’re so deserving of a shot, prove it. Beat Nate Marquardt and they’ll be begging you to fight Silva. Knocking out Bisping, no matter how built up the match, aint worthy of making you a No.1 Contender

How on earth do you disagree with outcome the Palhares fight!?
by Jonny on Oct 28, 2009 12:08 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Your post is so full of shit it’s amazing. He easily decisioned Palhares. And he’s ranked equal second middleweight with Nate Marquardt in the meta rankings.

i agree dan is a top mw and lhw, it would be a big loss to see him out of the ufc.

lol palhares beat hendo????
hendo dominated round 1 and hurt palhares a couple of times, palhares also could not get the take down in round 1
in round 2 hendo was winning and then got taken down and palhares tried and failed to land a knee bar, hendo then got back up and dominated the rest of the round making round 2 a close round but i think hendo got the edge
in round 3 basically the same thing happened as round 1, hendo dominated the stand up and palhares was unable to get the take down. Leaving hendo, 2 if not 3 rounds up at the end of the fight

I think the main reason that Henderson has EVERY reason to be pissed is that Vitor is going to get it, everyone on here is saying ooh big whoop you won three fights you dont deserve sh*t. IMO he deserves it more than Vitor does and I think he has the right to kick up a fuss about it. This is yet another prime example of the Ultimate Fighting Circus treating fighters like crap.

Vitor’s winning streak (even if the fights weren’t in the UFC) is more impressive than Dans winning streak. Dan has beaten Paul Harris, Bisping and lost but was given the decision over Franklin. Knocking out Franklin should get you an immediate title shot. Dan couldn’t even knock Bisping out in the first round. Vitor knocked Rich out in 30 seconds, an unheard of feat.
by jay on Oct 28, 2009 2:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
The guy walks into the UFC and gets two automatic title shots, beats three non-contenders and wants another shot? Beat someone in the top 3 and maybe you will get one. It’s not as if you can beat Andy anyway, so why waste our time?
by jay on Oct 28, 2009 11:31 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I don’t include his win over Franklin as a win. Rich won that fight.
by jay on Oct 28, 2009 11:32 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
rich didn’t win that fight. franklin was getting his ass kicked until hendo gassed and franklin didn’t do anything when dan was tired. hendo won that fight. dan did more damage. dan got robbed out of a title shot by dana. dan has a better chance of beating silva than anyone else. ANY opponent they find for silva is going to be a huge underdog so why do you care about that. dan obviously thinks he can win and that is good enough for me. hendo last fought at ufc 100 when he knocked the fuck out of bisbing. he gained alot of fans with that fight and i’m sure being a coach on the ultimate fighter helped out his popularity as well. hendo’s market share has gone up. dana needs to pay the man.

he got 2 title shots because he had the pride belts and thats what people wanted to see.

How can a man who gives that exciting an interview not be a bigger draw? Seriously though, I like Dan Henderson and would like to see a Henderson/Silva rematch. I had him winning the first round and while he got rocked in the second, it was one of the few times in his career. Silva would be the favorite, but I think Henderson would have a real change in a rematch. Hopefully something gets done.

I agree Henderson would have a real change in the rematch. Instead of looking simply outclassed by Anderson, he would get beaten in embarrassing fashion. Dazed by a stiff jab, he would try to save face and go for a take-down while a calm Anderson would battle with himself over whether to clinch and knee Dan into oblivion, or simply step backward and uppercut him into oblivion. Decisions…

Does anybody have a rough idea of how much Hendo was asking for? Randy and Brock are being paid relatively large amount of money (by UFC standards), so it wouldn’t surprise me if he was asking for the same.
by Oskarbravo on Oct 28, 2009 11:45 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Randy and Brock generate huge PPV numbers. I don’t think anyone other than Dan’s wife and kids buy a PPV just because Dan is fighting.
by PW on Oct 28, 2009 12:55 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Dan already had his title shot and he lost. It’s not like he’s become a better fighter or has got any younger since that fight. So he ko’d Bisping woopty freakin doo. I actually thought he lost to Rich Franklin. I actually don’t dee Belfort beating Silva either but I’d rather see him take a crack at him than Henderson again.
by Wes on Oct 28, 2009 12:34 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Rich did not get robbed. Not every decision you disagree with is a robbery. Dan held TWO belts in TWO different weight classes. He’s the only person to win a round against A. Silva, his fight with Rampage was VERY close (some may even claim robbery), he’s done more than Randy. Dan is a solid draw in two weight classes.
by delldog on Oct 28, 2009 12:40 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Didn’t say Franklin got robbed, just thiught he pulled out a close fight. And actually it wasn’t close with Rampage, he actually got outwrestled by Page which was shocking and he couldn’t hurt Rampage either.

dan is my favorite fighter and he needs to fight marquart to solidify his # 1 contender for the MW title… i know promises were made but this is business and he needs to do the right things and fight marquart…
