Vitor Belfort: Nate Marquardt deserves Anderson Silva more than I do (Video)

Henderson is the one who deserves the shot! Nate knocked out Maia, but who did he fight other than that? Dan fought fought two top guys in the 185 divison. Franklin and Bisbing. Dan’s getting old and he should have got the ok to fight Silva one last time. But it also seems like Sivla doesn’t want to fight dan, instead saying Nate deserves it. Vitor is scared and look to see him get knocked out in the 1st round. That’s one thing I don’t get about Dana and the UFC, they bring in these guys and they could fight someone who’s not at the top and get a title shot. Vitor fought Franklin at a catch weight and won but Franklin is no longer in the middleweight divison. Why didn’t they do Henderson vs Silva…. Vitor vs Nate… Winner gets the winner of Silva and Henderson? That would be a good second fight for Vitor, with Nate being a top middleweight contender…. Vitor is a very nice guy and always after a knock out or victory he always goes and checks on his opps…. But I still think Dan deserves the shot at Silva!!

Nate also KOed Willy G who imo is a far more dangerous fighter than Bisping…agreed that Dan should get a shot though if for no other reason than Dana said he would

He beat Wilson in vidoe game fashion. Crazy combo! I actually think Nate deserves it more than Dan, but really thought that both should be given the chance instead of fighting for it. If Anderson doesn’t want to fight at 205, then the UFC really can’t afford to lose a top contender. There aren’t many around for Silva.

Nice of him to be humble and honest. I’d hate to think theres other reasons for him saying that, like not actually wanting to fight the Spider. Not saying hes afraid of him by any means, but he has stated in the past that he didnt look forward to fighting Anerson.

Can’t blame him. No one actually looks forward to getting knocked out. Spider by destruction.

thats what i was thinking..~
vitor had a look on his face like he had already lost..
just when i was thinking vitors mental game was back to par, we see a video where he looked like his former shook self..
personally, i would rather belfort fight anderson over nate..

I think he was being humble for the most part, but I agree that he was also a bit uncertain about his chances against Anderson. He is just starting to really get some good momentum going, and Anderson can bring that to a crushing halt.

Manalito, I agree, I think that is a chink in his armour, Vitor is not known for being mentally tough and even though he is in his prime, looks more committed than ever and ready to fight, I can see some self doubt creeping in when it comes to fighting A. Silva. I hope Vitor doesn’t give Silva that mental edge when it comes fight time.

Dan should be signed and put get the shot Belfort and Nate should square off for the second shot. C’mon Dana make it happen please.

best idea right there, hendo’s earned it and nate doesn’t sound as eager as dan for a title shot. not to mention the great would be absoulutely dominated by belfort and henderson has the best style to beat anderson

I like this guy a lot, he asks the right questions and doesn’t seem like an idiot in the process. As for Vitor when i read the title i thought he might be afraid to fight Anderson, now it just sounds like he’s being humble. Always been a fan of Belfort

Nate will get his shot after Vitor. Nate got his ass handed to him once already by Anderson, I’m not ready to see it again just yet. Anderson needs fresh meat.

i feel really bad for him too, getting put in there with the spider is just ruthless, it’s like saying “please end my life”

I wanted to see this fight, but after hearing that interview I have changed my mind and don’t want to see it. I think we need to see Vitor fight at least once in the middleweight division in the UFC before we give the guy a title fight that he dosent seem to interested in.

nate does deserve it more than vitor and hendo in my opinion – i just really hope dan stays in the UFC
is it just me or do contract negotiations never turn out right (for the athlete) in this org compared to other professional sports organizations?

I’m just going to say what everybody is thinking… He is SCARED!

no he isn’t…stop reading between the lines and listen to what he says…he’s a genuine guy

I wouldn’t say he’s scared, but he’s not as confident against A. Silva. Vitor’s in his prime and more mentally committed than he’s ever been, but he still needs to work on his mental game to get through those brutal elite fights.

whats the deal with silva slagging vitor off in the brazillian mma websites?
vitor has said nothing but nice stuff about silva, yet i’ve read several reports from tatame saying silva hates vitor becuase he switched camps, has no issue with fighting silva when there should be a ‘code’ between brazillians.
bit wierd, vitor always comes across humble, plus i wasnt aware him and silva were that tight (not like machida and silva are).

I don’t see how some of you are coming away with “he’s afraid” to fight from that video interview. He called it like he see’s it and he’s 100% accurate. How many fighters would admit they don’t deserve a title shot after one fight in an organization? He’s honest and humble. Kudos to him.

HAHAHAHAHA Vitor IS SCARED. This isnt the first time he expressed being scared to fight Anderson. AHAHAHHAH all u Vitor nuthuggers eat that.. btw what has he done to prove he is elite. I wana Wandy Crush him this time
by zack on Oct 27, 2009 2:19 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
agreed, vitor got his ass whooped by hendo in pride. he was “back” then as well, according to the anouncers. vitor is not an elite fighter. he knocked out franklin with a grazing blow. that says more about franklin than vitor. rich has been in too many wars lately. silva twice, hendo , and vanderlee have doine a number on his brain. it only took a glancing blow from vitor to knock him out.

I thought Vitor due to his previous quiting in the fight phase, would be broken by Franklin – and was pleased to be wrong. Vitor has an abundance of power/speed and can beat an over confident Silva…but this is a huge ask. On interview he was straight to the point. He doesn’t have a hard on for the belt – he’s been there, and as for being scared!!?! Come on, he came across as being a gentleman and complimented Silva and Nate.. It’ll take a solid and controlled performance to beat Silva – like Shogun vs Machida – and I don’t think Dan’s come forward style is a good bet vs Silva. Nate is all rounded and powerful but I still don’t see it knocking the Brazilian Champ. Vitor brings that edge of power and speed that know one here can be sure what’ll happen. That’s worth a peek! Ps. I’m aware Shogun still didn’t get the win..even though he beat Machida just about..

I think Vitor may be a little frustrated that the fight hasn’t been finalized yet so he’s got a “whatever” kind of attitude.
