No one gives a fat CUNT! Randy versus the biggest dickhead since Oscar the Grouch retired?? Fuck that!! What a BS card
by Maynard on Oct 25, 2009 9:19 PM EDT reply actions
What’s BS is that captain Paycheck is gonna get a title shot if he wins this fight. Good chance too even if Vera is suppose to whoop his @ss, he’s a choke artist. Fn Dana is gonna shove it down our throats and you fans boys will act like it’s gonna be a competitive fight. Anyways, My boy Big Nog taxed that ass for three rounds and i’ll bring it up in every couture thread.

I bet the winner of Swick vs Hardy and GSP will be the coaches on the next TUF… just a thought

NNR, So why not give Couture a shot? Former Hvywght champ fights another former hvywght champ to a great 3 rounds! And he’s not even a true hvywght… If Matt Hughes cut to 155lbs, he’s no different, he’d be an instant title contendor. Anytime a former champion still able to compete at the highest level, drops down a weight class, almost automatically becomes a title contender in my book. However, calling Vera a ‘Choke Artist’ is spot on!… Couture could have fought someone that was proven, it’s seems like a tune up fight for Couture at 205lbs before a title shot. Vera is likely to be mentally broken if Couture takes him into deep waters… Brandon Vera should be in his prime… it’s now or forever be called a ‘choke artist’

wow, imagine swick as a coach? or hardy? ugh.
by bradpittfightclub on Oct 26, 2009 1:16 AM EDT up reply actions
nOgueira DESTROYED Randy! If Randy wants a title shot at 205 lbs, he should 1st prove that he can at least beat Rogerio! Fock giving Randy another undeserving title shot. LHW division is about to get interesting now that Shogun is champion! Plenty of good title fights for shogun:
-Rogerio nog (rematch of the best fight ever)
-Anderson isnt going to like watching Shogun beat Machida in back to back fights.
-Thiago after he beats Shad
why give Randy a title shot? If he rises to the occasion, he will just lose the belt in his 1st title defense, like he always does!
Fock Couture! Cant wait ti he retires so I can stop seeing him get the red carpet treatment by the UFC.
hopefully Randy brings out the best in Vera, and Vera lights him t he fock up!
After what happened saturday, i am having a hard time talking mma. Put a nasty taste in my mouth!

As always on point john. F the captain and his undeserved title shots aka all of them.

john how can you POSSIBLY think that no shogunb was the best fight ever?? nog laid on his back the whole time and shogun stood over him and threw a crazy right hand every once in a while… it was a decent fight, but not top 50 of all time!!
by ---Caesar--- on Oct 26, 2009 12:37 PM EDT up reply actions
Disagree with u boys on Couture ‘absolutely undeserving of a title shot’…‘disagree’ he has only so many good fights left.. before he’s done…even though Nog beat him handidly… it was far far from total destruction… I would say what Couture did to Gonzaga was total destruction or what Mir did to a staff infected Nog. Couture has proven to a gamer against Lesnar’ & Nog at hvywght! If he shows an impressive victory over Vera I’d like to see him get one more shot at the title before he hangs ‘em up. Couture has accumulated a history of impressive fights win or lose and it hasn’t stopped yet.
by DAVE A on Oct 26, 2009 2:51 PM EDT up reply actions
Agreed. Yes, age makes it much more impressive than it would be on its own, but so what? Couture’s ass kicking of father time is inspirational to say the least.
by naturalshadow on Oct 26, 2009 2:59 PM EDT up reply actions
Couture had totally impressive performances ‘regardless of age at hvywght’… He is proving him self time n’ time again win or lose at hvywght. A cut to 205lbs with a impressive win over Vera (like it should be) based on how good Couture looks, should put him up there among others’ for a title shot…. time is not on his side, why wait until 2011 to let him earn a title shot, he’ll be 48 yrs old or something! Regardless of that… he’s had a decade of titles and impressive performances win or lose… he’s earned that right over many years and has only lost to the toughest of contenders, all of them most likely Hall of Famers.

yep, no one really cares about this card, so i say… open discussion about ufc 104: the robbery… absolutely digusting decision, thank god i didnt put any money on it, my long island ice tea would have wound up inside of the bar’s flatscreen and id probably be in the drunk tank still… they better give shogun his rematch immediately!!!

How the fxxk do you shogun you retarded dxxK!! watch the fight on Mute…..Machida smashed Shogun…count the number of strike landed by Machida and the number strike landed by shogun………………
by Tim-chida on Oct 26, 2009 7:19 AM EDT up reply actions
The fight stats show that Shogun landed more strikes than Machida in every round, I have been backing Lyoto all the way but he did not win that fight. Those leg kicks were very effective, Lyoto could barely move in the championship rounds and admitted after the fight that Shogun’s leg kicks had hurt him. Even if you think Lyoto he didn’t smash him, it was a close fight and for the first time someone beat up and outstruck Machida.
by David W-S on Oct 26, 2009 9:13 AM EDT up reply actions
how the fock can anyone say that Shogun didnt win that fight? I lost a focking ton of money on that fight! As yu all know, I had shogun all the way! Fock you to all the doubters who argued with me that a 27 year old kid, was past his Prime! News flash: GSP, Shogun, Alves…these are great fighters but NONE have reached their prime yet. Fighting Prime is 31 years old…to write off Shogun at 27 was just DUMB!
Also a Big Fock you to all the bloggers that bitch that I make excuses. Injuries arent EXCUSES! They are human aspects that influence the way a fight unfolds! Can anyone still say that Forrest beat Shogun or Mir beat Nog? Mir and Forrest beat watered down, injured versions of those top fighters. Its really not the same thing at all!
Fock you to all the idiots that said Shoogun couldnt have great cardio with out the use of Roids…conditioning is the easiest thing to improve on. All it takes is hard work and 2 working legs! What a difference having 2 good knees makes.
One thing I will admit is that the haters were right. The shogun of Pride is long gone…Too bad for the haters that a better Shogun has emerged. He put his wild approach on the shelf and put together a patient and technical masterpiece. I will NEVER forget that performance!
Props to shogun for staying classy and composed after being robbed at gunpoint out of his DREAM! You wont ind a cassier guy in the sport! Props to Dana and the pro-machida crowd for Showing Shogun some love and letting him know that he won the fight!
The un-crowned champion STILL doesnt have his crown! I really feel bad for the guy!
I promised you guys a competitive War, and I guaranteed that win/lose, shogun will walk away from that fight looking very impressive. BANDWAGONS CLOSED you fickle fockers! War Rua 4 life! Props to Shogun or fighting like the best LHW in the world, which I always knew he was!

john when you keep sayong “fock you if you dont think this or fock you if you dont agree with this” you lose ALL credibility!! this is a site to share opinions and discuss MMA, not blindly flame anyone that has a different view than you. this is why so many people hate you on here… act like an adult.
by ---Caesar--- on Oct 26, 2009 12:35 PM EDT up reply actions
John, a fighters prime isn’t a set age, it’s when they have peaked. Some sportsmen perform best at an older age, others peak when they’re young before fading away, they don’t all reach their peak at 31. Shogun has proven the doubters wrong and he is clearly still a threat, he looked a different and improved fighter against Lyoto.
Shogun proved that he still has it and he has developed his striking and become a much smarter and more patient fighter, he fought the perfect fight against Machida and beat the unbeatable, only to get robbed in the decision. He kicked Lyoto’s arse and took me by surprise, now they’re going to have a rematch to prove who the better man is, it should be a great fight just like this one was.
Now that’s the last thing I’ll say on the fight because I’m now sick of the constant hijacking of threads on this decision, Shogun was robbed we get it, at least he’s getting a rematch, no need to keep talking about it in every thread especially when there’s enough posts on the decision anyway.

I WATCHED that fight AGAIN, PAUSED at times and watched certain exchanges over again, and it was extremely close, every round. I have Machida winning the 1st rnd, a complete toss up the 2nd and Machida winning the 3rd rnd, 4th rnd goes to shogun, and again a toss up the 5th rnd. Listening to Rogan & Goldie going WOW’ everytime Shogun threw a kick was totally misleading, beause not much was said when Machida threw combos. Goldie kept saying Shogun won every round, while Rogan just said “I don’t know.” Machida contected with more head shots and almost as many kicks, but almost nothing was said when he connected… WATCHING the fight CLOSELY… I can see why Machida got the nod… Judges just don’t give as much credit to kicks as they do punches, and Machida out punched Shogun. Machida slipped punches and got grazed a few times… but Rogan and Goldie were still going ‘WOW’…lol. C’mon!!!
by DAVE A on Oct 26, 2009 3:04 PM EDT up reply actions
Shoguns defense was amazing. He blocked about 80% oof Machida’s strikes, while Machida was getting blasted with kicks the entire time. Please refrain from telling me that it was a close fight. Judges get paid well, they need to get the right decision. Shogun spent 4 months working for his dream and got completely robbed. I dont focking care how cloe it was, that was Shoguns Fight and its his title!
Ceaser: when you have been spending 2 years defending shogun the way I have, and getting flamed for it by 90% of this site, I have earned the right to talk trash to the people that disrespect me, and tell me how much I am an idiot on a daily basis…so today, I would like to say with the outmost respect….FOCK YOU TOO! lol
by john G on Oct 26, 2009 5:47 PM EDT up reply actions
I watched the fight for a 3rd time it was hard to tell that Machida wasn’t landing… so I’m going to go with the Fight Metric System, pretty damn reliable and insightful and agree that Shogun ‘was robbed’…

yeah the fight being free is good, but i would rather see
vera vs bader
vera vs tsilva
vera vs rashad
vera vs a.silva
vera vs rampage than couture
and
couture vs hendo
couture vs vitor (i know vitor is another weight now but still needs to happen again
couture vs cain velasquez at hw
or even couture vs franklin or wandy
randy needs to worry about big fights not trying to get a belt back and vera has been less than stellar lately sure randy isn’t looking good but superfights where his money would be made is what he needs to worry about nowadays

I actually think this is a pretty sweet free card… always love to see couture fight, he should win easily. swick fight will be awesome too!! my boy matt brown back in action too, cant wait!!
by ---Caesar--- on Oct 25, 2009 11:55 PM EDT up reply actions
the card is good itself i wont argue, but where do either of these 2 go after the main event? vera beats randy couture a 46 yr old man who lost his last 2 fights. and if randy wins he beats brandon vera a man who has beaten the lowest tier of ufc fighters lately to string a winning streak together..
swick vs hardy is stupid because swick beats up another lower level fighter, and hardy a future title contender gets a setback, and kang beating bisping puts bisping down 2 straight.. it’s kind of like they wanna eliminate some title contenders/future title contenders for this one.. they could have done things better but i wont complain to much of a free card hell i watched elite xc so you know i dont care fact is they make no sense for the future of anyone fighting
by randy murders on Oct 26, 2009 12:33 AM EDT up reply actions
I like this card. sure the main event means nothing, but it wil be competitive.
Bisping/Kang is a damn good fight
and I really look forward to Hardy whooping on Swick.
Ross vs. Reily is a great fight, as is Brown/Wilks
No complaints out of me. Better then any UFN event or sure

swick is gonna demolish hardy… a dncouture should win easily, then he’ll be in a big LHW fight with ttiel implications

Couture vs Velasquez is actually not a bad idea, RM. But I really wanna see Randy spank that brat, Rashad! And I know everyone will mock me for saying this, but I wanna see Randy vs Anderson. If Randy can avoid getting KO’d early nobody is more likely to get Anderson to the ground and keep him there and if that happens, Silva will be in big trouble.
by shonuff on Oct 26, 2009 1:51 PM EDT up reply actions
This card is way better then UFC 106…The main event is now Tito/Forrest…doesnt get any crappier then that! Worst ight card since Bisping/evans! 1st UFC event that I wil completly boycott!
by john G on Oct 26, 2009 6:23 PM EDT up reply actions
RM, What do you mean Randy isn’t looking good? he got beat in a ‘tough, tough’ fight with possibly the best Nog I’ve ever seen! Nog took about 8 yrs off his age while getting over a staff infection and training his hardest ever for a fight. Couture is definitely looking tough enough.
by DAVE A on Oct 26, 2009 12:41 AM EDT up reply actions

Machida won RDS 1 and 3.
RD 2 was even.
Shogun won RDS 4 and 5.
RD 2 goes to the champ in case of a tie (Machida).
I can understand why Shogun fans hated the decision. I would be upset, too.
INTROVERT!!!
I won our bet. Man up and start posting OJR is king.
by OJR on Oct 26, 2009 8:33 AM EDT up reply actions
no such a thing as a tie round! If you are going to have a ten point must system….yOu have to give 10 points to the winner of the round, no matter how close the round was. What happened saturday night, in a title fight was an absolute tragedy!
I am not going to be able to stomach seeing Shogun’s name on Machida’s list of accomplishments!
Machida should have shown more class and honor and raised shoguns hand and admitted to losing that fight. He is one of my favorites and I expected more out of him. His title NOW means NOTHING!
Shoguns resume should read: 2005 Pride Grand Prix champion, and Current UFC LHW champion/#1 LHW in the world giving the undefeated puzzle that is Machida his 1st loss!
If the next title fight isnt Shogun/Machida, I swear on my fathers grave that I will NEVER watch the UFC again!
IMO, Shogun is the champion and Machida is the one getting an immediate rematch! Shogun will get his title soon enough! Anyone still want to fight with me about how Shogun is washed up and done? Fock ooff!
by john G on Oct 26, 2009 10:12 AM EDT up reply actions
I know its a moot point, but judges actually can score a round 10 – 10 if they see it as even. It is extremely rare, but it does happen occasionally.
A lot of people are unhappy with the decision, but at least we are going to get an explosive re-match. I am interested to see what adjustments each fighter makes, and what new strategies they will employ. I think Machida/Shogun II has fireworks written all over it. I don’t really think Shogun can come more aggressive next time, or it will play into Machida’s favor. That being said, I see Machida adjusting for Shogun’s leg kicks, and employing more clinch work. I will take Machida in the re-match.
by Cole on Oct 26, 2009 11:24 AM EDT up reply actions
his point was 2 rounds were machida’s, 2 rounds were shogun’s, and one round was very close… this wasnt that bad of a decision, watch it again. comparing this to hammill/bisping is ridiculous… it was a tough fight, but i had machida winning 48-47 (just like all 3 judges by the way). you guys were like “even dana said shogun won the fight, you think you know more than dana?” haha, ALL 3 JUDGES GAVE MACHIDA THE FIGHT!!! YOU THINK YOU KNOW MORE THAN ALL 3 JUDGES?
by ---Caesar--- on Oct 26, 2009 12:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Yep. Same here.
If Vera is serious about bein’ a legit contender in the LHW, he must muster[that sounded redundant] all of his lost killer instinct. He must get all his mojo back to tool Randy. He’s prett decent on the ground anyway, so I bet he wouldn’t be manhandled so easily by COuture.
As for the Hardy-Swick match-up, I’m goin’ to call the Hardy upset special[JOhn, that’s the Yoshida upset special II], LOL
And oh, Kang FTW.

wow. I guess Im alone on this. Im stoked this card is free. Bisping v Kang is a great matchup. As well as hardy v swick. Big hardy fan but I gotta go with swick. And itll be fun to watch bisping get two losses in a row when Kang beats him.
Cant really choose between randy and vera….but im leaning towards randy. Vera hasnt looked so hot since dropping to 205.
I personally think this is a good card. and a great free card.
by terriblet1one on Oct 25, 2009 10:35 PM EDT reply actions
Not the best card but it’s improved a lot since I bought the tickets, it’ll be an honour to see a legend like Couture fight live in the UK and Swick-Hardy is a huge fight, a vast improvement on Hardy-Kim. Bisping-Kang should be entertaining, though I’m glad it’s getting limited hype as the other 2 fights are a lot more important. It should be good seeing how far the Team UK boys have improved as well, Ross and James are both getting big tests immediately. As for the prelims the less said the better.
Couture by UD
Swick by TKO R2
Kang by UD
Wilks by Submission R2 (RNC)
Riley by UD (the only fight I’ve not made my mind on, right now I think that Riley will be too big for Ross but I might change my mind again)
by David W-S on Oct 25, 2009 10:58 PM EDT reply actions
I love Couture and hate Vera and think this fight is an insult to Couture, who should only be fighting other Legends, former champs, and TOP 5ers at this point (until he proves he can’t hang with them anymore). That said, I think Vera’s length and wrestling skills (which Randy speaks very highly of) are gonna make him harder to take down than most of Randy’s opponents. I still see Couture winning, but the frustrating thing is, he won’t get any credit for winning because everyone will say "SO WHAT! He beat an unranked, inconsistent, wannabe.) It will be just like the Hendo/Bisping deal. Dana promises a title shot, the legend wins, and everyone discredits the win because of the unimpressive opponent, and Dana renegs on his promise! IMO, Randy got screwed. And Rashad is such a cocky little prick saying that he won’t fight Couture because beating Randy means nothing. Who the hell does Rashad think he is? Who the hell has Rashad ever beat that deserves to be mentioned in the same breath with Couture? Couture would be by far the biggest and most respected opponent Rashad has ever fought! Evans is chickenshit!

by J.Mile on Oct 26, 2009 12:29 AM EDT reply actions
I very rarely complain about cards, I’ve been one of the few praising 103 and 104, but seeing as I’ve been anticiapating a UFC show in Manchester since the last one and I’m going to this show live I feel that I have a right to criticise some of the match-ups. I’ve been a lot less critical since they gave us Couture and a number one contenders fight, even if neither fighter will stand a chance against GSP, but it damn sure isn’t a free card for me so as a consumer I feel that I have the right to compliment good fights and criticise rubbish ones.
To be fair the main card isn’t too bad considering this is a Spike special but the prelims are a joke and having the same British fighters on all UK cards is not helping stack the events or build up the talent, it’s just an easy way for the UFC to fill a card and get a few football fans pumped up before the live show as they cheer the English against the foreigner. However I don’t mindlessly cheer for English fighters and the likes of Taylor and Kelly don’t interest me so to have a prelim card filled with the usual suspects does not excite me at all. To me it’s just devaluing the card for the sake of having British fighters to please the crowd and save money on more expensive imports.
by David W-S on Oct 26, 2009 7:27 AM EDT up reply actions
I probably wouldn’t have paid to go to this live. But you guys get all the PPVs for free, and there are only a few places in the world that the UFC comes at all, so most people don’t even have the opportunity to see it live, regardless of the strength of the card.
Anyway, there’s nothing that appears will be quickly done about strengthening foreign PPVs in terms of quality of fighters. The UFC is simply a business, and if they can sell out the O2 with mediocre fights, that’s what they’ll do.
by frosnt on Oct 26, 2009 9:24 AM EDT up reply actions
I see your point, personally I think that they should reduce the ticket prices for Spike specials as it’s unfair on the fans to expect to them to pay the same for a PPV quality card and a FN quality card. However judging by the record sales 105 got the business model is not going to change anytime soon, if they can get people like myself to spend a load of money on a card without advertising a main event then it would be daft to change at this time. Hopefully it’s a good card live.
