UFC 104 weigh in results LIVE from Los Angeles for 'Machida vs Shogun'

The official weigh-in event for UFC 104: "Machida vs. Shogun" took place today (Oct. 23) LIVE at the LA Live Event Deck in Los Angeles, California.

UFC 104: "Machida vs. Shogun" features the first title defense for undefeated light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida against fellow Brazilian Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the main event of the evening.

In addition, rising talent Cain Velasquez and veteran Ben Rothwell will "wage war" in a super-sized heavyweight showdown.

Nineteen of the 22 fighters set to compete were successful in making their respective weights.

Lightweights Gleison Tibau and Josh "The Dentist" Neer both weighed in heavy for their main card lightweight battle. Tibau was a full pound over the limit while Neer only missed his mark by a half a pound. Both fighters have agreed to go ahead and fight at their respective weights.

Feared welterweight striker Anthony "Rumble" Johnson was the only other fighter on the card to miss weight. The 6'2" Johnson tipped the scales at a whopping 176 pounds -- a full 5 pounds over the division limit. Apparently "Rumble" and his team had already informed his opponent, Yoshiyuki Yoshida's, camp that he would be coming in overweight.

The fight will go on as planned; however, Johnson will surrender 20 percent of his purse to "Zenko."

Here’s are the complete UFC 104 weigh-in results:

Under card (May not be broadcast):

265 lbs.: Antoni Hardonk (249.5) vs. Patrick "Get Hype" Barry (237)
185 lbs.: Yushin "Thunder" Okami (185) vs. Chael Sonnen (185)
l85 lbs.: Jorge "El Conquistador" Rivera (185) vs. Rob "The Rosedale Reaper" Kimmons (185)

Note: Fighters are allowed to weigh one pound more than the division limit in non-title fights.

Remember that MMAmania.com will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the main card action on fight night (Saturday, Oct. 24), which is slated to air at 10 p.m. ET on pay-per-view from the Staples Center. Machida Round 1 or 2 by TKO.

by Instant_Noodle on Oct 23, 2009 3:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Off Topic a bit: I was thinking about Machida Vs Spider and how Dana says, “It’s not about wanting to hurt the other guy. It’s about seeing who the best is.” This might be the only area where I disagree with Dana. If one of the guys doesn’t feel comfortable, he’s not going to be his best. So, you don’t really know who the best if someone performed uncharacteristically. When I fought, I didn’t like fighting guys from my camp. I could do it, but I didn’t feel the same as when I fought someone I didn’t know or didn’t like. I don’t think I ever gave it my all against a friend. So there might be some good arguments for trying to make these guys fights, but I’m not sure “finding out who is the best” is a legitimate one.

Great point ovaries – but if your whole job is fighting and you are paid to fight whoever is in front of you, why can’t you just do what you’re trained to do? It’s like GSP/Hughes 1 where GSP didn’t show his true potential because he was in awe of fighting his hero. There’s always excuses, just go in there and fight. I’m sure if Machida was hesitant to throw a punch against his friend Andy, he would change his tune if Silva hit him or started to engage. . .sooner or later it always turns into a fight!

This is the first time in quite a while that I agree with Rampage, but as he says, if you have a chance to help a friend earn a big payday and you don’t do it, then what kind of friend are you?

Great point P dub! Rampage can be so eloquent sometimes! ;)

for the right payday for me AND my friend, i’d fight anyone, hell me and my dad would fight for the right pay… it’s not like they dont spar everyday just take off headgear and spar

Rumble @ 176*****
Zenko is dwarfed, dude. Looks like Rumble won’t be the next GSP, gotta be 170 to be that lol.

Machida @ 202, pulled an Anderson and came way under weight.

Rumble not even trying to drop the last 5lbs is like Cyborg on the rag… and I bet we’ll see the same KO’d result. Rumble should be fighting at 185

by Arnold on Oct 23, 2009 8:17 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

g’d, I’m pretty sure he usually comes in 204-206. He’s weighed at 203 a few times. IIRC he came in at like 199 for Heath.

by rockwell on Oct 23, 2009 8:33 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

man he wasnt gunna be able to cut 5 more pounds in an hour

by g'd up on Oct 23, 2009 8:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i just got dones watching ufc104 and didnt watch the weigh ins, but when i saw that rumble was 5 pounds over i was utterly shocked! i know that %20 is a lot of money but i dont think this is nearly close to what he deserved. during the event it discussed how he went into camp only a month ago weighing 220LBS!! WTF he tried to cut 50 lbs in a month, u could argue that he was somewat close but if you think about it he weighed 176 the day before. he probly didnt eat for at least a day and was serverly dehydrated. i wouldnt be surprised if he weighed around 190-195 during the fight. i read that he was so weak at weigh ins that hhe had to be carried down the street to make it there. he obviously has no respect for the sport and i believe that he ought to be terminated from the ufc. i was disgusted when he won the fight… you might consider that harsh but when you think about the discipline and dedication that other fighters have then you might be able to view it from my eyes and see this as a slap in the face of the ufc, the fans, his oppenant, as well as other fighters who are responsible. what is he doing fighting 170’s if he walks at 220.. i dont think that he is without talent bc he def has power (ironic huh)and skill but this isnt a street fight.. its a sport and sports like this def have their guidelines or it is hard to respect them. the ufc and the other fighter did know he would be overweight well before the weigh ins and bc of this i def lost respect for the ufc for not finding an alternate fighter.. the extreme weight/power advantage was clearly a huge advantage as displayed in the fight. SORRY THIS IS SO LONG

I won’t be surprised if we hear Goldie yelling " it is all over!" the second the fight starts LMAO

not a strong card in my opinion, but that’s never stopped me from buying them before. I’ll probably watch it when I get home from the concert, or at least the main event and Cain/Ben. I’m not 100% sold on Cain, I think he has tons of potential, but I pick Rothwell to win Sat. night!
what was with the scale? If it were 1 fighter, I’d say shame on him, but that many guys coming in heavy, i’d bet it was the scale!
I’d like to see shogun win and the Anderson Silva take hi on!

mr. generic statement guy trying to advertise his website, how bout saying something with a little color to it instead of just throwing out random lines like “it could go either way” or “i think it might go to a decision”

i got a question to all the cain h8ers, if he stops big ben & beats up badly are u guys guna consider him legit contender or thats still not guna b enuff & he is still overhyped o overated ?

by d*locc on Oct 23, 2009 5:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Ben is not an obstacle. I like Cain and think he is in the mix on top of the division.

But people who doubt Cain now, will not be convinced after he tools Ben.

by Instant_Noodle on Oct 23, 2009 5:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If he gets a convincing stoppage over Rothwell, that would go a long way toward legitimizing him as a HW contender to me. I still think Kongo absolutely gave that fight away, and nobody Cain beats for the rest of his life will convince me otherwise.

by PW on Oct 23, 2009 5:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i have a question more on political correctness. would the ufc sign or allow a guy to fight if he had a “white power” tattoo?

by Egads on Oct 23, 2009 8:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i meant “white pride”, same thing really though.

by Egads on Oct 23, 2009 8:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

cain is not over rated, he is right where he should be, about 4th or 5th in line for the belt and will be there a long time. he wont beat lesnar, carwin, nog or dos santos but is better than the rest.

by Egads on Oct 23, 2009 8:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Pride is a little different than power… ‘White Power’ denotes a negative history of violence, but ‘Brown Pride’ does not. Blame it on those whities that came before you that ruined it for you. Maybe something like ‘Viking Pride’ would be acceptable though

by TheMattKing on Oct 23, 2009 8:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The mattking you need look into brown pride a little bit harder. It also denotes a negitive history of violence,& a big WHITE PRIDE to ya!!Or if that hurt any ones feelings, Euro-nation to ya!!I say be proud of who you are..

Congo’s takedown defense sucks and Cain couldnt finish him. Rothwell is not Congo and will put up a better fight. I’m going for Rothwell in this one. Cains got a great chin and so does Rothwell but i think experience will be a factor. i also think Big Red will submit Bader upset of the night.

Damn Shogun looked soft, but heavier that Machida! Machida wighed in at 202 and Shogun at 205. Does Machida really live in LA? Or is he ust trying to win over the fans?

by manalito on Oct 23, 2009 7:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Shogun might gas early if he doesn’t get finished first, and I have a feeling he might get injured a la Patrick Cote

by Lestat on Oct 23, 2009 7:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

you could tell the look in rumbles eye that he was fucekd before he even got on the scale.

by CanadianSensation on Oct 23, 2009 7:28 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Ben has 30 more fights and 25 pounds on BrownPride …no way he’s losing …i hope. And rumble should really just go up a weight class …6 pounds over is ridiculous.

by MMArt on Oct 23, 2009 7:31 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

is there a rule that jonson has 2 fight at 170? that m fer weighs 220!!! he needs to move up to 185 or 205 & stop picking on these 170 pound cans!

How ´much untill the weight ins starts ?

Mania we need an update on rumble. To my knowledge its up to yoshi if he wants to accept or decline this fight & yoshi gets paid either way & wouldn’t blame him if he apt to walk & fight on a near card. Rumble man? c’mon! What’s ur deal? You don’t have a scale @ the gym?

by Khaos_Warrior on Oct 23, 2009 7:57 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Nope! Cain all day. Ben is gonna try to go “all in” and Cain is gonna bust his ass when he makes that mistake!

Wow AJ had a big enough size advantage over Zenko if he weighed in at 170 but this is just going to be ridiculous.

by frosnt on Oct 23, 2009 8:07 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

No wonder AJ looked pissed! has to give up some of his purse to Yoshida!!! move uo to 185 already rumble.

by manalito on Oct 23, 2009 8:11 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

AJ said on Beatdown that he was weighing 220 when camp started. That is ridiculous. He needs to go to 185 or else carve down some of that muscle because this isn’t the first time he has missed weight.

The reason why Machida will win by decision is because Rua is going to bring it the first round and then Machida will get defensive and will run for the entire fight.
