LMAO!! Hard to say I wouldn’t do the same thing but ya…lol

by McArthur on Oct 23, 2009 9:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Just put my bets on, going with 8 bets 6 small ones on the faves and a lump on Eric the Red +325 and Struve +192(underdogs) – 2 underated submission masters who are both facing relatively inexperienced wraslers.

Red has a mean arm in guillotine from the shot waiting for Bader and Struve can pull guard into a triangle with ease plus has heart and reach on his side, his only 2 losses were to my pick for the best striker at HW – dos santos and another high level submission grappler.

Chse Gormley is neither and although undefeated has yet to face anyone with a notable ground game, or a consistant winning record…

i was there when i saw rumble johnson he kept talking to his caches and complaining before he got on scales… i then knew he was going to be over…. i like the dude but come-on!

by Mikeybear on Oct 24, 2009 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions

No doubt five pounds is a ton to come in over weight. I can understand being over a pound or two even tho I would still be unhappy with the fighter but five? Even if Zenko loses now he has the excuse that Johnson came in with an advantage. I consider people who fight that much over weight the same as people who fight with an injury. They know they can call this one a one off and its not cool. I’m a fan of Rumble but I lost some respect for him here, here’s to hoping Zenko puts him in his place.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Oct 24, 2009 6:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Thanks fr the info john, i didnt know he was with nog. Still a bit of an unknown quantity to me but he has his work cut out with Struve.
Couple of factors to consider are
1. Gormley hasnt had a fight for a year and a half – that is a huge layoff.
2. This is Gormleys first time in a big show, UFC jitters?
3. You cant prepare for a 7 foot BJJ Black belts guard.
4. Struve is far better than he has showed in the UFC and has a tun of experience, 70% of his wins have come from subs initiated off his back.

cant wait, wish the fight would be close, but i think this will be one of the biggest mismatches of the yr. the dragon by tko second round

by dtoto on Oct 24, 2009 11:44 AM EDT up reply actions

after this fight, that idiot JOHN G will realize this wasnt the close fight he thought it would be, but a huge mismatch.

by dtoto on Oct 24, 2009 11:53 AM EDT up reply actions

Why would you waste your time writing something negative towards john g when he hasnt even wrote anything to you. Its pretty petty imo

by enzo-enormous on Oct 24, 2009 12:56 PM EDT up reply actions

haha you gotta love these guys, they can’t get recognition from making valid posts about fighters or fight predictions so they try to build their name off of the big name posters on here. This happens all the time in the fight game and the fun part is when the big name steps down and lays a serious beat down on the nobody and puts him in his place. So here it is, this guy is a serious idiot for looking past Rua. Rua may not have looked as good in his last few outings but he’s not someone you under train for or look past. He always comes game to fight and if you relax for a second he will smash you. Also everyone knows there is huge pressure on your first title defense and even more pressure when you are undefeated coming in as a heavy favorite. Machida has a lot of peole bringing a lot of pressure on him and even if you factor in how skilled he is, there is still the chance of a mental lapse which someone like Rua would use with out hesitation. Rua isn’t going to win this one, but I promise we will be seeing a fight. Here’s to dtoto remaining a nobody hahaha

by DbG on Oct 23, 2009 9:30 PM EDT reply actions

If you watched the weigh ins you’d understand because all he was talking about were fighters’ penises, no joke lol.

by rockwell on Oct 23, 2009 10:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Really? Why was he talking about penises? Although, I kinda wonder about Bravo to be honsest.

by naturalshadow on Oct 24, 2009 9:14 PM EDT up reply actions

I was thinking the same thing…he usually is more pumped for weigh ins

by Robert(1) on Oct 23, 2009 10:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Machida hands down, that fericous standup style of Shoguns will play perfectly into Machida’s hands for a KO.

by DAVE A on Oct 24, 2009 1:02 AM EDT up reply actions

hard to knock machida out if you cant hit him what will shogun do gas him? lol

by theboydave on Oct 24, 2009 7:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Fight of the night picks, anyone?
KO of the night- Rumble Johnson
Sub of the night- Joe Daddy
Fight of the night- Machida/Shogun
fight we could have done without- Ryan Bader/Eric Shaffer

by RogerG on Oct 23, 2009 11:07 PM EDT reply actions

I know sometimes guys miss weight, but I really hate it when a guy tries to keep tons of muscle for a size advantage and misses weight, ie rumble, alves, riggs. Especially when their trying for a title shot.

by BoBBy on Oct 23, 2009 11:18 PM EDT reply actions

Rumble looks like he is still growing and should prob jump to 185 but then again how sick would Alves vs Rumble be?

Machida and Rothwell are winners tomorrow !!

by CAGE on Oct 24, 2009 12:16 AM EDT reply actions

Shogun wins?

I don’t think so.

If Shogun was lightning quick…maybe. He isn’t though.

Just look at Machida’s stats. The guy is barely hit by anyone.

I predict a patient Machida and an overly aggressive Shogun. Shogun will get caught multiple times but will weather the storm.

Machida by decision.

by DubNub on Oct 24, 2009 12:44 AM EDT reply actions

it really sucks that if sokoudjou had a better ground game he probably couldv’ve beat machida. i was just rewatching most of machida’s fights and soko nailed him with a big punch that hurt him. machida got an awesome sweep and took over the round.

by Jared on Oct 24, 2009 8:45 AM EDT up reply actions

jared, its gotten so impossible to beat machida, that peoiple are no resorting to what ifs, if someone even touches machida they think they could have beat him, has machida even lost a single round in the UFC, dont think so, lol, if he loses one then maybe you can what if. soko looked like a scared little puppy after machida kicked his ass, that fight wasnt close.

by dtoto on Oct 24, 2009 10:46 AM EDT up reply actions

drew brees is the lyoto machida of the nfl right now

by HellaHectic on Oct 24, 2009 4:35 AM EDT reply actions

ha ha if he is drew brees then matt ryan is like anderson silva lol cain will ko him 1 st round and I thinl machida in the 4th rd

by elmatador1990 on Oct 24, 2009 4:48 AM EDT reply actions

haha true, but the difference is that matt ryan and drew brees will actually face each other next monday night in the superdome for monday night football..whereas machida and anderson refuse to face each other

by HellaHectic on Oct 24, 2009 4:54 AM EDT reply actions

machida doesnt care who he fights, and is ready for anyone in two weeks notice even anderson, but andyis scared for his life to face machida, evrytime his name is mentioned he just violently shakes his head and says its not happening not because they are just friends, but because machida kicks his ass evrytime they spar and he doesnt wasnt to be embarrassed

by dtoto on Oct 24, 2009 10:49 AM EDT up reply actions

Machida’s face just doesn’t suit fighting. He looks like an angry estate agent, especially when he’s wearing that £50 suit…

Head says Machida but heart says Shogun. Either way i’m hoping Rua puts in a good display. I think this fight has come too soon in his rehabilitaion, he needed a couple more fights in the cage against top 10 guys. Anyways, this will make him stronger in the long run regardless

WAR SHOGUN!

by Shoguns Hairy Forearms on Oct 24, 2009 5:38 AM EDT reply actions

I agree with everything you said, I accept a Shogun loss if he fights a good fight, but it will be heart breaking if he gasses at the end of the first and then gets ko’d. Then I will admit he is done.

by Robert(1) on Oct 24, 2009 7:42 AM EDT up reply actions

yeah shoguns hairy forearms. who am i kidding machida is going to win this, shogun just needs to put up a fight. if he’s going to get knocked out i want him to be like rashad keep fighting until he’s out cold. that was heart! come on shogun if you gass after the first round i think im going to be sick

by Jared on Oct 24, 2009 8:51 AM EDT up reply actions

If Shogun does a Coleman in Round 1 man he won’t make it out of the Staples Centre alive. After a 3 month camp training for the belt, the least I expect from Rua is cardio. He looks lean and in shape so i’m hoping for fireworks. Listening to his interview pre-fight he certainly understands what it takes to beat Lyoto it’s just a case of whether his mind and body can do it on the night.

If he gases though, I too will sadly have to admit that at 27 he’s done….fingers and toes crossed though ;-)

by Shoguns Hairy Forearms on Oct 24, 2009 8:59 AM EDT up reply actions

wow there are a lot of people who love shogun.
I never really thought he was anything special.
He is fun to watch have been dissapointed.

by b-real on Oct 24, 2009 7:54 AM EDT reply actions

If Cain wins he needs to fight Gonzaga or Randy. I would love to see what Cain could do to Randy – probably fuck all.

by Insain on Oct 24, 2009 10:54 AM EDT reply actions

if shoguns ground game is so good, hows come he only has one sub. win ????

by TheDragon on Oct 24, 2009 1:13 PM EDT reply actions

Introvert is really starting to get through to me. Every time I see Dana Whites pasty fat head I want to put a hammer in it. Why does he have to be the face of the UFC? Why not let one of the brothers do it, they are so much cooler.
