I don’t see how Kongo can win this fight without Mir getting sloppy with his standup. Since I don’t see Mir getting sloppy with his standup this should be a quick fight. Mir has improved striking and will eventually take it to the ground and put a hurting on Kongo. Mir by submission against Kongo in the first round.

Mir by TKO. He’ll be looking to put on some size and finish some guys standing to prove he deserves the rematch with Lesnar. Kongo is the first victim.

I don’t know guys. Franks ego trips him up IMO and if he’s not careful we could see this go like the Vera fight did.
Meh… this one doesn’t do it for me really.
Kongo via TKO

Kongo TKO. Mir cant wrestle or handle getting hit. Sprawl and brawl. I hope though they clinch for a couple of solid nut shots on Frank Douche.

Only problem being that when things hot the fan Kongo may have the worse instincts in. MMA, can’t forget him shooting in on Cain.
Mir by sub round 2

Well Kongo can’t wrestle for sh!t either. Mir via submission.

The loser of this fight will be the one with the stupider gameplan, if Mir tries to stand and bang he’ll get KO’d and if Kongo tries to show off his non-existing ground game then he’ll get submitted. Couldn’t give a toss about either fighter, hopefully it’s a double KO.

If Mir stands with Kongo he will lose. His stand up is improved but not enough that he can rely on it, definetly not against Kongo. Mir wins this one imo if like Zino said, he doesn’t get cocky.

David W-S speaks the truth. This is nothing more than a couple of village idiots and proof positive that UFC is running out of quality match ups. Unfortunatly I think Mir wins this debacle

Kongo can keep this fight standing because Mir’s takedowns are average at best. Kongo wont want to lose 2 in a row, so he might actually use his brain and this fight. Not to mention that Mir is a pussy that isnt very good. His best attribute is his Jits, and he is nothing special at that. He is above average jits for a UFC HW, but in the grand scheme of things his jits is nothing special!

I think Mir was in the right place at the right time just like Forrest(Shogun)…..Nog was hurt and Brock was green, Kongo has never been stopped before and Mir never had standup and never will. Kongo is up there with AA as having the best strikes in the heavyweight divison. Kongo by first round ko.

That’s because he was so fn gassed. He hasn’t gassed once in the big leagues.

Speaking of Yvel when the hell is he going to fight hasn’t he signed with the UFC?
by Puck Head on Oct 21, 2009 2:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yvel’s just been licensed for one fight, if he wins and keeps it clean then he’s got a great future in the UFC, if he does something stupid then he’ll be blackballed for a while.
by David W-S on Oct 21, 2009 2:47 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t think Yvel has a great future anywhere, but least of all in the UFC. The big wrestlers like Brock and Carwin will be too much for him, and guys like Kongo and Junior Dos Santos are better strikers. Yvel kinda reminds me of Wes Sims.
by naturalshadow on Oct 21, 2009 11:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t know natural Kongo may be a better striker but Yvel can is a more aggressive striker and a tougher fighter at that I think he can do good things in the UFC I don’t think he will ever beat Brock, carwin or NOG but he can get up to the top five and be an exciting fighter with great battles against guys like Kongo and Santos win or lose.

I agree Red, the only way Kongo wins this is if Mir’s game plan is what Kongo’s was for Cain. Let me see if I can out do my opponents strength even though he is much better than I am in that area. I AM SO IRRITATED BY THIS FIGHT!!!!!! Kongo submits daily to his blankets in the morning because he cannot out grapple them!
by Edgecrusher71 on Oct 21, 2009 11:58 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
submits to his blankets! I haven’t stopped laughing.

Sorry but its a kongo ko for me, i dont see him making the same mistakes again, and he has the best stand up in the div without a doubt!! If Mir cant get this t the floor hes in big big trouble!!
by mo on Oct 21, 2009 12:10 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He doesn’t have to. Kongo will knock him down then, like the monumental idiot that he is, follow him to the ground, where Mir will lock up the arm bar.
by PW on Oct 21, 2009 12:29 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That’s exactly how I see it P-Dubya…Or a kimura…Either way, Mir via sub.
by The Negation on Oct 21, 2009 2:53 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Vera vs Mir scenario. I can“t understand why people think that Mir has a good standup..
by johan-lofgren on Oct 21, 2009 12:29 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I dont know why anyone thinks that Kongo has good standup, let alone the best in the division! Who has he knocked out? Its a wonder that he hasn’t ever fought for the belt if he’s so good? I believe Shane Carwin and Junior Dos santos would both knock him out. Also Couture, Noguiera, Gonzaga, and Ben Rothwell all have great stand up. Kongo’s Stand up has never impressed me, sure he got some tko’s from some cans but no one credible would say he has the best stand up in the heavyweight division of the UFC.

submits to his blankets! Too damn funny!

I can see why people say Mir is an arrogant prick, I mean he compliment Velasquez wrestling, and even went on to praise highly his next opponent, by saying he is by no means an easy fight, even do people think he would tap him out in 2 seconds What a cocky guy.
by fonx on Oct 21, 2009 12:21 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He acted very cocky on TUF, that was what really made me dislike him.
by David W-S on Oct 21, 2009 2:48 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
All his interviews and announcing and meet and greets where you can get the real story and see the real Frank Mir and you choose a heavily edited reality show as your gauge for character?!? Yes he can be a little cocky sometimes but they exaggerated that. He is also often very humble. Anyway’s the Dali Lama would seem cocky next to Nog. That guy is the most soft-spoken, humble guy ever.
by wAyNe on Oct 21, 2009 3:13 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Editing didn’t make him call the cast of the series a bunch of losers though I agree that anyone would look bad compared to Big Nog. After the series Mir continued acting like he was the shit when he is just plain shit. He deserved everything that he got from Lesnar.
by David W-S on Oct 21, 2009 5:59 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
PW didnt you see my part of the post…HE WONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AGAIN???? then you post “he wont have to”?!!
Lets be honest when was kongo last sub’d?? Mirs stand up is way short of kongos and kongo has a good chin also, no way mir is taking this!!
by mo on Oct 21, 2009 12:47 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He shouldn’t have made that mistake against Brown Pride after previously making it against Herring. What makes you think he won’t do it again?
by PW on Oct 21, 2009 3:12 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well, Mir has a better all round game, but Kongo could knock out a donkey. If Kongo lands the same kind of shot that had against Cain its over.
by BoBBy on Oct 21, 2009 12:48 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Scrap this crap!!! Give us Mir/Nog II!!! Then let Kongo duke it out with Gonzaga. IMO those are much more exciting fights and I know Nog is aching to avenge that loss to Wank.
by shonuff on Oct 21, 2009 12:49 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Kongo is not even a top 5 striker in the division.
by JRE on Oct 21, 2009 1:42 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Top 3 striker in the HW UFC for sure. Not top 5 in the world, but name 3 guys in the UFC that would be a favorite against him in a kickboxing only fight.
by jay on Oct 21, 2009 3:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Carwin, Dos Santos, Gonzaga, Nogueira, Barry, Dufee, Mir, Lesner, Machida.
by JRE on Oct 21, 2009 3:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yes lesner. iff they fought right now you think Kongo would be the favorite?
by JRE on Oct 22, 2009 10:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
just a fight for Mir, great chance for Kongo. so hopefully Kongo wins.
by MMA040 on Oct 21, 2009 1:45 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Frank will submit Kongo in typical fashion. Mir’s destined for greatness.
by Cali Rick on Oct 21, 2009 2:36 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He’s destined for another beating from Brock, if he can get by JDS or Big Nog, which is a big if. Carwin and Cain are better than him as well and even Kongo could KO him if Mir still fancies himself as a kickboxer.
by David W-S on Oct 21, 2009 2:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I was mostly kidding, I can’t imagine what Mir would have to do to win against Brock. Mir’s just one of my favorite fighters so it’s mostly hope. On a side note, Mir’s definitely a better announcer than Rogan.
by Cali Rick on Oct 21, 2009 2:56 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I hope ur kidding….Rogan gets people excited like no other….Mir puts me to sleep
by Robert(1) on Oct 21, 2009 3:59 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Mir’s a good announcer but not as witty as Rogan and just as biased if not more so. Miguel Torres fights are best watched in mute because Mir spends the whole fight kissing up to Miguel instead of providing expert analysis.
by David W-S on Oct 21, 2009 6:02 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i don’t see many heavy weights beating mir if the fight goes to the ground.
by Conan the Barbarian on Oct 21, 2009 4:01 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
For that to happen Mir has to get the fight to the ground and even then if a dominant wrestler is on top pounding on him Mir doesn’t do anything off his back.
by David W-S on Oct 21, 2009 6:03 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Your basing that on the Brock fight? Mir has good JJ on his back he has finished many guys on his back Brock is like the GSP of the HW when he’s on top of you good luck.
by Puck Head on Oct 21, 2009 6:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
he also broke a roided out tim silvia’s arm from the ground.

Kongo by KO or Mir by sub, whatever happens first. There is no way Mir TKO’s Kongo though.
