Horedecki is only 22yrs old, he’s coming back from a bulging disc in the neck injury, if he keeps his head on straight he should go far. I wonder if he’s considering cutting to 145lbs, he physically looks like he could make that weight.

Shogun vs Machida could go either way but, Shogun has never been Ko’d and has a proven grill (remember the shots he took from Little Nog). So I hope the hype about Machida’s BBJ is true for his sake. If Machida wins it will go the distance or by tap out. But the flip side is if Shogun gets him down on his back or unloads w/ his shins early night for the Dragon. Big Shogun Fan here but, fight could go either way but, at +420 smart money on Rua.

by LV-Badboy on Oct 20, 2009 3:58 AM EDT up reply actions

i love Shogun and i have him all day in this fight. I recognize Machida as an axcellent fighter but he’s not this insane knockout machine everybody makes him out to be. The truth of the matter is that in 7 UFC fights he only has 2 knockouts.

Let’s not forget that Sam focking Hoger took Machida to a decision, as did David Heath, Kazihuro Nakamura, and Tito Ortiz.

And i know a tonnn of people that talk a lot of sh*t about Tito and he’s the best name on that list. Like common Sam Hoger??? I hate MMA math as much as the next person but i can’t see Hoger taking a healthy Shogun to a decision. (Machida was 100% healthy at the time).

Regardless i hope and pray that Shogun wins, he is one of my all time favorites.

A loss to Forrest Griffin and victories over two old men… Shogun hasn’t exactly shined recently. Shogun was a beast in Pride, but come on, Machida has NEVER lost a single round in the UFC. Even Anderson Silva has said that Machida would be trouble for him… wake up!!! Shogun is gonna be chasing him around the cage and eventually run into a fist or a shin or a knee or something.

by Alex on Oct 20, 2009 4:00 AM EDT up reply actions

I think Machida was still figuring out to how to perfectly fuse his Karate into the MMA game with a lot of his fights. It took him time to confidently combine the two, so that it would work offensivly, not just defensivly. What has Shogun done in the UFC that rivals what MAchida has done? Three fights one with an injury in which he lost to Forrest. Then a comeback fight against Mark “The Walker” Coleman, which was also a comeback fight for MArk(and that was a 3 year layoff), and he beat Chuck “The Lights Out” Liddell. Shogun has been far from impressive since entering the UFC, which make me sad, because I thought he was going to walk through the LHW division when they first brought him over. Machida with the exception of the Tito fight has been lights out, his last 4 fights.

by Da Monkey on Oct 20, 2009 7:42 AM EDT up reply actions

i agree…how can u people honestly believe shogun cant go two rounds with machida? sam hoger and david heath both went the distance with machida…and they’re HORRIBLE! tito went the distance with machida…you saying these 3 guys are so completely out of shogun’s league that he wont even last 2 rounds?

yea that sam hoger…wow hes just blasting through the mma world…that machida sure showed the world an overwhelming dominant performance in that one…oh and that david heath fight…wow…machida just put on a massacre there…and that tito ortiz fight…the way he was fighting for his life in a triangle against a guy whos never submitted anyone…

machida finishes 2 fights and suddenly you people are treating him like he has an anderson silva highlight reel? gtfo

by HellaHectic on Oct 19, 2009 7:46 PM EDT up reply actions

thank you Hella, finally somebody with some reason!!
People completely overlook those early fights, which are important don’t kid yourselves!!

Has he gotten better since then?? obviously but to say Shogun can’t last with this guy because Thiago Silva and Rashed Evans (who had the two WORST gameplans possible) couldn’t do it?? Wake up and give your head a shake.

by MMAKilla on Oct 20, 2009 1:56 AM EDT up reply actions

Machida’s improved a lot since the fights with Hoger and Heath, he’s gone from the guy who never gets hit to the guy that never gets hit but can hit you back until you’re KTFO. Besides he came close to finishing Heath, Lyoto hit him from 8 consecutive knees. With a little more killer instinct Heath would have been done.

Face facts, Lyoto in 2009 is better than Shogun in 2009, it doesn’t matter what either man did in the past, Lyoto is the one in form and the one who has literally looked untouchable in his last few fights, Shogun only got the fight because of Rampage doing TUF and the A-Team, not because he’s the top contender. Shogun will have to perform to his Pride OW GP standards if he’s going to upset the Dragon and so far he’s not come close to that form in the UFC.

by David W-S on Oct 19, 2009 8:25 PM EDT up reply actions

HELLAHECTIC anderson silva also was submitted in the past by chonan, you really believe machida is the same fighter now that he was back then? On the other hand shogun is not the same fighter as he was in pride, and if he is so what? he beat a rampage that wasnt half the fighter he is now, and you cant base nothing of those wins, the top 2 guys from there crocop and wand are just scrubs in the UFC. you bring up the hoger fights, but that was the past, only a fool cant see how much better machida has gotten specially last few fights. You should try comparing just the last 2 fights to see who has fought the better competiton and looked better. Machida has fully incorporated his karate style into mma, and he is still perfecting it. You are going to look mighty foolish when shogun gets dominated this saturday. Hopefully you can man up then and admitt how wrong you were

The spider is unbeateable! He will never lose and will only win for the the rest of his fighting career. He is the meaning of perfection in the ufc ;-)

by Foxy on Oct 19, 2009 7:21 PM EDT reply actions

I dont know,he doesnt believe hes unbeatable. And for some reason training with Lyoto i believe has brought that to his attention.

by The Legacy on Oct 20, 2009 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree with Foxy and I just wanted to add to his statement that Machida will be the same way. Shogun will not last 5 rounds with Machida and I wouldn’t be suprised to see a TKO victory for Machida in the 3rd or 4th round when Shogun has no gas left in his tank.

by rydinlow on Oct 19, 2009 7:37 PM EDT reply actions

I think you mean to say “late in the first round when Shogun has no gas left in his tank”……

I hadn’t seen him before his UFC time (I admit, I am a TUF fan who became an MMA fan) and I have no idea why he is held in such high regard. He and his brother have gassed early in every fight I have seen them involved in.

by Jas on Oct 19, 2009 7:48 PM EDT up reply actions

For now, Anderson’s gonna hold the record… till he retires. I could see Machida building on that record though. Either way, neither guy is losing anytime soon, but I could see Machida losing before Anderson simply because of how much talent flows through LHW.

by n4tacon on Oct 19, 2009 7:42 PM EDT reply actions

I could see Silva losing b4 Machida if he decides to go up to hw,those chances increase immensely.

by The Legacy on Oct 20, 2009 3:50 PM EDT up reply actions

I simply don’t see this ‘talent’ ur speaking of in the LHW division. I’m sorry. Magicida has walked thru the 2 of 3 most ‘talented’ in thiago/rashad. He bests Shogun saturday, then what’s this deep talent you guys speak of that’s left?

IMO, mw still poses more threats, its just Anderson & magicida & GSP are so damned dominant and talented.
Mw still has wanderlei, vitor, possibly ace, possibly hendo, Nate, maia if he gets back to it, & cote had said he’d be back in January or feb.

We just have killer’s for champs so it makes the div’s look a lil weaker than they really are. But I see what ur saying.

by Daniel worby on Oct 19, 2009 7:51 PM EDT reply actions

it wasnt long ago people were saying hughes, franklin and liddel were unbeatable. its all a natural evolution.

by Egads on Oct 19, 2009 10:56 PM EDT up reply actions

it will be interesting to see thats for sure. They are both beatable… just will have to see one of them get caught

by enzo-enormous on Oct 19, 2009 7:51 PM EDT reply actions

Doesn’t matter about the records or win streaks. Once these two top fighters throw down and a winner is decided. This is the only way to compare the two not unbeaten streaks or title defences….

by Cory B on Oct 19, 2009 7:54 PM EDT reply actions

People are saying that Machida will lose first because the lhw division is stacked.

I take the exact opposite view BECAUSE the lhw division is stacked. Anderson will only fight a few more times at mw before he moves up to lhw in my opinion. We have seen some areas of Silva’s game exposed (namely, wrestling). Machida on the other hand has not lost a round in the UFC. Silva has basically cleared out his division, time to move on. Silva keeps looking to challenge himself, and eventually he gets beat (not neccesarily by someone better. I mean Travis Lutter took him down for god’s sake). Meanwhile Machida reigns the lhw scene, destroying everyone put in his path.

by WB on Oct 19, 2009 8:04 PM EDT reply actions

Dude Lutters a world class grappler, with a wrestling background and is said to be very strong im pretty sure hed take u down to if he wanted to.

by The Legacy on Oct 20, 2009 3:54 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m no fan of either champs, though Machida is going to continue winning and Silva is going to lose his next fight.

by JonnyBoy on Oct 19, 2009 8:20 PM EDT reply actions

The only way either man ever loses is if they fight Fedor, Gegard or each other, they are both in a different class to the rest of the MW and LHW divisions in the UFC and both are eager to have some HW fights as well. Lyoto will end up with the longer streak simply because he is staying in the UFC for longer, but both men will be looked back on as all-time greats of the sport. Pound for pound lists are built on the careers of fighters like Andy and Lyoto, they are both world-class fighters and great champions who look to test themselves against the best at any weight. It’s been a priviledge to watch both of these warriors fight.

by David W-S on Oct 19, 2009 8:30 PM EDT reply actions

And if shogun pulls off an upset you and whole lot of others opinion changes instantly. No 1 can predict the future, lets just wait and see wat happens. No 1 predicted GSP shruggn off hughes like a kid the second time they fought and derailing him at the end of the 1st and the begining of the 2nd round. And Fedors Sht.Hed get embarassed by Machida and Tkod by Anderson.

by The Legacy on Oct 20, 2009 3:59 PM EDT up reply actions

how the hell can you not be a fan of either champs? if you are not a fan of either of them, you are clearly not a true MMA fan. ridiculous.

the only way hendo will get a rematch with anderson is if he moves up to lhw and knocks machida the fuck out! that is a storyline i would like to see. oops did i say storyline? that is because with machida and silva it is all rigged behind the scenes. dana is anderson silva’s bitch.

Machida this Machida that!!! Saturday gets closer and closer. I can’t wait to see the open media workout. Has anyone seen any vids pf Shogun traing/sparring. I saw the one where he is doing squats with the weights but that is useless. Machida fans are quick to point out the Thiago and Rashad KO but those are the same cats that are considered “overhyped” or “B class” by most of mmamania posters. We all know that Thiago has horrible defense, come on he almost got KO’d by a newcomer (Mendez) and Houston had him in trouble too before they went to the ground. Tito took Lyoto to the judges and if it wasnt for that knee to the body that put him ahead in the scoreboard it wouldve have been a close split decision. Tito is also on most of the mmamanics mouth as far as being done with and irrelevent in mma and he still took the so called LHW king for a long time to the judges. Shogun simply can not be ruled out on this fight, he still has the ability to take tremendous punishment and he all know that he has heavier hands then Machida. Shogun has real good defense we all saw it in the Liddel fight. Shogun by KO via a roundhouse kick would be the sickest ever!

by Danny_c on Oct 20, 2009 9:22 AM EDT reply actions

tito i believe didnt land a single blow that whole fight, meanwhile machida fighting witht he flu, and not half the fighter he is now, easily won evry round. its funny to see people use any excuse as to how a fighter could have beaten machida. facts are during fights there are allways moments that opponent will land something, but machida has never lost even a single round in the ufc and he is getting better at a frightening rate, we will all see that it is pretty much hopeless whoever fights him. its the era of karate, and evryone else is in the dark ages. might as well fight someone with a knife, and other guy using a gun, abut as much chance as anyone has of beating him.

by curly on Oct 20, 2009 11:30 AM EDT up reply actions

Chucks alot slower than he was when he was champ, and hes ALOT slower than Machida period.I hope Shogun can take alot of punishment becuz hes definantly gona be in this fight.Machida by decimation.

by The Legacy on Oct 20, 2009 4:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Machida will never catch Anderson Silva. Machida is going to defend his title over and over again. Nothing but hard fights in Machidas future. He could move up in weight for a few fights and take on the over rated heavy weights, but I think he would rather do what a champoin is supposed to do and defend his title. Leave the the opponent picking to Silva. A bit much, maybe. I’m just sick of Silvas BS.

by DolFan on Oct 20, 2009 9:24 AM EDT reply actions

hahahahahhaa Machida is the best fighter in the world and Anderson Silva knows it which is why he brings out the “he’s my best friend, i want his dick” comment. The day the spider and dragon go head to head is the day that everyone loses respect for Silva and learn what they shouldve known all along. Machida is the best fighter in the world

ps he is going to dominate shogun. Thank You
