I am curious how much 1% of the company would cost…..any idea?

If the UFC is valued at $1 billion then 1% would be $10 million. I don’t have that much.

by PW on Oct 19, 2009 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions

Let me try this again…..
I am curious how much 1% of the company would cost…would the $100,000 of cash I have in my pocket be enough?

by bradpittfightclub on Oct 19, 2009 12:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Nope.

by naturalshadow on Oct 19, 2009 12:32 AM EDT up reply actions

10 million bucks would be 1% if it is really valued at $1 billion

by ---Caesar--- on Oct 19, 2009 1:03 AM EDT up reply actions

Nope, sorry. IN your next lifetime perhaps…

by The Negation on Oct 19, 2009 4:07 AM EDT up reply actions

Besides dude, he said they wanna sell 10 or 15%, I doubt they would even entertain the thought of 1%.

by Dragon on Oct 19, 2009 8:01 AM EDT up reply actions

If you had 100,000 dollars in your pocket you wouldnt be asking what 10% of a billion is, not to mention the fact that if you had 100000 dollars in your pocket you would be a financial moron for not investing it properly and you would have a huge pocket… Moron

by baby_eddie on Oct 19, 2009 8:50 AM EDT up reply actions

Seriously, what kind of person goes online and says “I have $100,000 in my pocket”?

Answer: The kind of person who has nothing.

It’s like the guy at your workplace who always brags about how much he gets laid…he never gets laid.

by introvert on Oct 19, 2009 10:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Hey Intro I think I know that guy…

The UFC is likely worth about 500 million (assetts and earnings). This “worth one billion dollars” evaluation is one based on future growth and is about as pie in the sky as can be.

No investor would invest on future spec because it’s not real money.

Dana won’t sell more than 15% because it would allow him to be the small stake owner being he owns 10%.

If the UFC wants to sell 10% – show me the books and I’ll make you an offer. No kidding

by Big Zino on Oct 19, 2009 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions

wow…people are high strung about this…you guys need to get off your high horse once in awhile…have a beer…relax…have fun with it and not get so offensive

by bradpittfightclub on Oct 19, 2009 11:38 AM EDT up reply actions

I know eh? As if you were serious about having 100 grand in your pockets.

by jay on Oct 19, 2009 11:43 AM EDT up reply actions

I hear yah bradpittfightclub…
I didn’t take you seriously. Why on gods green earth would you have 100g’s in your pocket?

Everyone I know would tell you to keep it in your steel attache, chain attached to your left wrist.

You’ll never know what 1% of a Privatly owned Franchise is because not all earnings are or have to be reported.
If they want a serious offer someone will have their accountants audit the PL of the last 2 years. Minimum.

by Big Zino on Oct 19, 2009 11:59 AM EDT up reply actions

Well, if it’s only worth $500 million and not $1 billion then that means 1% is $5 million instead of $10 million. I’m back in, baby!

by PW on Oct 19, 2009 12:09 PM EDT up reply actions

I have no clue what it’s really worth.

500 Million is a lot closer to reality than 1 Billion.
They don’t really OWN tangible things.

Do they own or lease HQ? They lease arenas so thats a debt not an assett and the fighters are contractors.
TUF is worth about 1/2 the Co value if I was guessing where the “lolly” was coming from. I would also like to know how much licensing is worth…

I think we could get to $500M.

by Big Zino on Oct 19, 2009 12:52 PM EDT up reply actions

1% of a bil. is 10mil… a crude rule of thumb for small business sold, about 3 times it’s annual adjusted net income. In other words we have no idea! lol.

by DAVE AVINA on Oct 19, 2009 2:00 AM EDT up reply actions

1% of a billion. Thats gotta be like a couple grand at least. I also hear part of the deal will be that Brock Loser will bring over beer and bang your wife, and Nick Diaz will personally hand deliver 1 pound of primo Columbian cheebs, AND he’ll hang out for awhile if you have snacks.

by The Judge on Oct 19, 2009 2:43 AM EDT up reply actions

Good joke jackass, Nick Diaz isn’t even in the UFC and 1% of a billion… a couple grand?

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Oct 19, 2009 9:32 AM EDT up reply actions

Cogito that whole post was a joke. Nothing to get angry about.

by jay on Oct 19, 2009 10:21 AM EDT up reply actions

well they said its valued around 1 billion so you do the math.

so a 10% stake is 100 million 1% is 10 million…. some one better check my sums tho, i am bloody awful at maths, :P

oh yeah, so the ufc is his to sell!? that’s funny, i could’ve swore a pair of brothers named Frank and Lorenzo fertitta were the owners. i know they’re main money making ventures outside of the ufc are bankrupt too, but i wouldn’t think they’d want any of the ufc sold

Enter Shane McMahon

by El Mexicutioner, Formerly The Mexicutioner on Oct 19, 2009 10:01 AM EDT up reply actions

The scary thing is he’d be as likely as anyone to invest in the UFC, he’s just left WWE and has a big interest in MMA, plus the McMahons have a history of impulse purchases outside of wrestling (all of which have failed miserably) and they came close to buying the UFC pre-Zuffa (according to Dana anyway).

Honestly this whole video is pointless, Dana wasn’t being serious with that offer, as no businessman in their right mind would pay millions of dollars for a stake in a company that they have no control over and would have trouble finding out the profits of in the first place. The fact that the presenters had to do some goofy jokes about fighting and submission moves shows what a joke of a story this is.

Vadim Finkelstein should buy a piece of the UFC under the conditions that the UFC says; UFC and M-1 Global presents UFC 108, 109, 110, 11…

by DAVE AVINA on Oct 19, 2009 2:16 AM EDT reply actions

SHIT IF I HAD EOUGH MONEY TO OWN 15% AND ALL I HAVE TO DO IS SIT BACK & GET PAID FOR DOING NO WORK THAN HEY IM DOWN WITH THAT. PLUS FREE EVERYTHING ALTHOUGH I WOULD MAKE SURE TO HAVE AN OVERALL SAY IN THE COMPANY AS FAR AS THE COMPANY MAJOR CHANGES OR FURTER PLANS GO.

ALSO IDK IF MUST PPL SEE THIS YET BUT THE UFC WILL HAVE TO SOMEDAY BECOME A PUBIC COMPANY & HAVE SHARES. THE WWF DIDNT NEED TO THEY WERE DOING OK BUT ONCE THE WWF WENT PUBIC IT WENT FROM 100’S OF MILLIONS TO 100’S OF BILLIONS NOW ITS BIGGER THAN EVER BEFORE IM JUST SAYING THINK ABOUT IT. THE UFC NEEDS TO AT SOME POINT.

by T-BAG on Oct 19, 2009 4:59 AM EDT reply actions

What the hell was that at 1:58??

Id be willing to bet that if the figure of 1 billion was an estimate made by the UFC itself it is overvalueing the company by 10-15% at least.

by Ermac on Oct 19, 2009 8:53 AM EDT reply actions

Actually, other credible reports have the UFC valued at 1.5B smarty pants.

by UFC Champ on Oct 19, 2009 10:31 AM EDT up reply actions

Where are these alleged reports? I bet you won’t be able to come up with them.

by Diceman on Oct 19, 2009 12:44 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m trying to remember which interview/news report that had Dana White on it and the reporter stated that. It wasn’t Off The Record, but some other one….

Anyways, here’s just one report saying with the boom in MMA, the UFC should be worth about 1.5B by the end of 2010.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/328544/ufc_worth_over_one_billion_dollars.html

I highly doubt the UFC is worth only 500 million, no way they could have bought Pride for 80 Mil if that’s all they were worth.

by UFC Champ on Oct 19, 2009 5:33 PM EDT up reply actions

If he’s willing to sell a stake, why didn’t he just cross-promote a couple fights with M-1?

by introvert on Oct 19, 2009 9:56 AM EDT reply actions

A small stake owner still would have no say. Cross promo would mean putting up their banners and mentioning them on the program, plus a small say in how the event is ran.

by jay on Oct 19, 2009 10:31 AM EDT up reply actions

15% is more ownership than dana white! i’d tell him to “take a hike dog, i got this”!! if i owned 5% more than white, i’d see to it that he and bruce buffer rotated announcing fights. i’d make dana white my lil bitch, hire some muscle from blackwater or the 75th rangers and strongarm him out entirely

by deuce 4 on Oct 19, 2009 12:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Did you not hear that the holder would have no say on what goes on the contract the holder would have to sign would not allow him to do anything but sit back and hopefully enjoy watching his shares go up and eventually sell them to someone else when they want to retire so they can do the same.

by Puck Head on Oct 19, 2009 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions

How old is this video? First off they say “in the 8 year history of the company”, and second if you watch the interview again its like Dana was asked if they would want to sell a stake rather than coming out and saying it on his own. Any thoughts on time/date?

by UFC Champ on Oct 19, 2009 10:36 AM EDT up reply actions

…and Intro, if this video is a couple of years old as I suspect, just think the UFC had more viewers than the NFL, NHL, and NCAA back then. Lets not forget those sports are on FREE TV too!

by UFC Champ on Oct 19, 2009 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions

If you compare a UFC PPV to one NFL game, then ya…they probably have more viewers.

MMA fans always work these numbers down until MMA is ahead in ratings and never look at the big picture.

UFC PPV numbers have flattened out….prove me wrong.

by introvert on Oct 19, 2009 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions

flattened out since when? How come no one else can get a definite number on PPV’s except you intro? They don’t give out the final tallies yet you somehow know them? How is that?

by jay on Oct 19, 2009 11:42 AM EDT up reply actions

No way in hell the UFC had/has more viewers/fans than the NFL or NCAA. My gosh you have GOT to be kidding me.

by Puck Head on Oct 19, 2009 2:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Oh, I see…so you say that there is no way that you can get definite numbers on PPV’s, but when someone says that the numbers are greater than the NFL, NHL, etc…you stand by the numbers?

Which one is it?…are the numbers definitely higher than the NFL, NHL, etc…or are there no definite numbers?

Can’t have it both ways, jay.

by introvert on Oct 19, 2009 3:10 PM EDT up reply actions

mma guru,

I think you mean to say “if someone questions his intellect he dissapears”…I’m fine with people when they “question my stupidity.”…..smart guy lol.

by introvert on Oct 19, 2009 3:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Quote me saying they did better numbers than those sports. Find it and quote me. I don’t know what those sports pull in anymore, nor do I care. I know that you can’t find numbers to say that the PPV is declining, that is all I said. The UFC is doing better than ever before and that makes you angry, I don’t care to compare MMA to NBA or NCAA or anything because I personally don’t care for other sports anymore. I use to play and watch all sports, boxing included. Now MMA is the only sport I watch or follow. Just to clear things for you Intro, I didn’t say they do better than anyone, I just want to know why you say the numbers are going down and why you know the numbers when no one else in the world does.

by jay on Oct 19, 2009 3:20 PM EDT up reply actions

by mma guru on Oct 19, 2009 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions

danny OR SHOULD I JUST CALL YOU INTRO? Why be that immarture? I stated a fact, you tried to call me out for having a double standard which simply wasn’t true, I never said the words you accused me of, and this is what you do? You use to defend yourself with the name ‘shogun’ and I didn’t call you out for it. Now this? Why not use the same name you started the argument with and man up a little? You aren’t funny or entertaining. I don’t even understand the whole gay thing, I called you gay a couple times and that is suppose to do what to me? Am I gay for calling you gay? Like the “I’m rubber you are glue” deal or what? Make sense and grow up, two things for you to work on. I’m not a troll in the slightest bit, I never say things to get a rise from people, I don’t make up stories to gain the interests of other posters, I just continue to be me here, unlike you danny and intro and shogun whatever you are calling yourself right now.

by jay on Oct 19, 2009 4:05 PM EDT up reply actions

good old moderation. danny or intro whatever name you are going by right now, grow up.

by jay on Oct 19, 2009 4:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Quote me where I said that the UFC PPV numbers are going down.

I stated that they are flattening out…which is true.

All I’m saying is that this “meteoric rise” (which doesn’t make any sense…meteors fall) is not what UFC’s fans make it out to be, because in order for the sport to rise…the numbers need to go up….they aren’t.

by introvert on Oct 19, 2009 4:27 PM EDT up reply actions

How do you know what the numbers are doing? Not that I am arguing, but how would you know? I would have to agree that the numbers probably are flattening out. Who in the world doesn’t watch MMA yet and is becoming a fan now? Besides kids coming of age, the word is out there, if you aren’t buying PPV’s yet the chances of you buying them next month are pretty slim. So I agree that they may have hit a plateau.

by jay on Oct 19, 2009 4:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Until the next generation is old enough to buy, or countries that don’t pay for PPV’s(England and others) the numbers probably have reached the high point.

by jay on Oct 19, 2009 4:54 PM EDT up reply actions

DIceman, if you watched the video, then you would know that Bloomberg reported that the UFC has more viewers, I didn’t make it up.

by UFC Champ on Oct 19, 2009 5:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Intro, you’ve been talking a lot of sense recently but here you’re coming across as bitter. How are the UFC PPVs flattening? 3 shows ago they had the biggest selling PPV of the year and the biggest buyrate for an MMA card ever in UFC 100, plus had great success with 101 and 102. The only PPV that backs up your argument is a weaker card in 103 that was in competition with the biggest boxing card of the year and did not have a title fight or a big draw in the main event. I guarantee that 106 will have huge numbers, so your argument lacks substance. The fact is the UFC have just put on successful shows with their biggest stars and they’re not set to fight again until 106, 107 and 108, so in between then the cards won’t be as popular or as stacked.

Why complain about random facts from a joke of a video that as UFC Champ said was probabaly from years ago? The UFC is doing well and is growing all of the time, with a card set to take place in Australia as well as some huge PPVs coming up, any show with Brock, Tito and Forrest is guaranteed to make millions. SF are also set to pull in huge numbers on CBS with a good card albeit one that may be short, while boxing has a big fight set for November in Pacman-Cotto. I have no idea why you’re complaining about the growth in MMA or the UFC, if you’re a fight fan then you should be excited period. A dream fight is set to take place this weekend, why start an argument over nothing? All it does is take away from your other intelligent posts and cause conflict for no reason.

by David W-S on Oct 19, 2009 7:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Go public with 5% of the company. Allow people to buy stocks for someone else. Sell the stocks with nice big certificates and people can use them as gifts for UFC fans. This has been done with many smaller sport franchises with success. You have to have dedicated fans but that is a no brainer for the UFC. There’s 5% that will remain fairly stable and you have some outside cash.
