MMA Quick Quote: Alistair Overeem doesn't have time for Brett Rogers and his bullcrap

"I will not comment on [Brett Rogers], I am very busy with K-1 right now, with all the fight I have there. When there will be time to meet in the ring he will see. For now, I will not comment. I am very busy these days, I have a fight in Glory, then in DREAM.12 and after that I’ll fight in the K-1 Finals so I am very busy with training and fighting and I don’t have time for this bullshit."
-- MIA Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem tells MMARocks.pl that his busy schedule does not permit him the time to respond to recent criticisms from Brett Rogers, who claims that "Demolition Man" is hiding from American drug tests by continually fighting overseas instead of returning to San Jose to defend the title he's held hostage since 2007. Is Overeem simply fulfilling his International duties? Or does "The Grim" have him all figured out?

It just strikes me that he isn’t that bothered about fighting over in the US. Maybe he knows Rogers would KO him.
Bet money if Rogers somehow beats Fedor, he wont come back to Strikeforce and infact relinquish the title.

when did overeem become all of a sudden a great fighter?
he was decent in pride and hasn’t fought a HUGE name
by Mikeybear on Oct 15, 2009 9:36 AM EDT up reply actions
Rogers is completely right. Overeem would get beat by all the other heavyweights in Strikeforce.
Namely: Werdum, Silva, Fedor, Rogers

If he’s not going to defend the belt, that’s fine. He does not have an exclusive SF contract, so he can fight wherever he wants that doesn’t drug test. But damnit, give the belt back.

I am so sick of this fake ass mma news that has been going around the past few weeks. Al the news is these days is event posters, and fighters that will probably NEVER fight each other, talking trash about each other.
can we get a focking interview or something? Hell, make up a fight if you have to. Im focking BORED!
FYI: DREAM/Strikeforce are going to start unifying the titles!

John, just be patient dood…November is chalk full of events and you know somethings gonna happen we can argue about. Between Nov 7th and Dec 12th there are 6 big shows!!!!!!!!!

Everyone was talking him up and never knew why. Hes a good fighter but no real champ, sorry SF but he isn’t.
That was it, people were trying to justify Fedors decision to choose Stirkeforce. Oh “he can now fight Overeeem” like its a really important fight to decide who is the HW no 1. That fight would be good to see but i wont go shine my balls in acticipation.
Not saying he is going to be a world beater but i’m interested in seeing Todd Duffee Vs Buentello. Want to see if this guy is for real.
by Dixon on Oct 15, 2009 10:44 AM EDT up reply actions
He sucked at LHW. He cut too much so he was an infamous front runner. Jesus i thought there were people here who actually have seen him fight in PRIDE? He was whoppin that ass for the first two minutes against everyone he fought then he imploded and quit. Now at HW, he hasn’t shown an ounce of his old self. Everyone knows he has great skills, his striking is real world class not joe rogan world class, his grappling game is very underrated mostly works from top but anyone with an excellent guillotine has the submission equivalent of one punch KO power. His size combined with his wrestling makes him a legit HW. Finally unlike the old bloods in the HW division, he’s extremely athletic, aka fits in with the mold of the carwins, lesnars and duffees. I just don’t understand why people only watch youtube highlights before deciding how good a fighter is.

Overeem is doing what’s right except for roiding, the Coker guy in SF needs to grow some balls and take his title away so everybody can stop complaining about him not fighting in the US.
by RoBerto on Oct 15, 2009 2:21 PM EDT up reply actions
Overroids is taking big fights in K-1 and looking great, he’s beaten Aerts, KO’d Hari and taken Remy to a decision, so no complaints about his form or competition in that sport.
However in MMA it’s a different story, right now the only good HWs are in the UFC or SF and for whatever reason, whether it’s roids or money, Overroids isn’t defending his title against the best that SF has to offer. He may have the talent to be a top HW but considering his inflated physique and the fact that he only fights in countries that don’t drug test it’s irrelevant how good he is because he won’t face the best in MMA, unless Fedor does his annual New Years Eve fight in Japan or he has a roids off with Barnett over there.
Spot on RoB, Coker should have stripped him of the belt a long time ago. However Coker has no control over his champions, why else would Cung Le have been allowed to make movies instead of defending the belt or Thomson be allowed to keep the belt after over a year when he’s still injured and Gilbert has been able to not only win but defend the interim belt during this layoff. I’ve been one of the few SF backers on this site but you can’t defend the way that they have let their belts become meaningless. No wonder they want to unify them with Dream, though I bet most of those fights happen in Japan rather than the US.
by David W-S on Oct 15, 2009 2:48 PM EDT up reply actions
ya, having any kind of K-1 or MMA competition without drug testing is not ok, and that is why you can’t call all guys that fights in Japan the best in the world.
Still love the sport, especially K-1 but i find it unfair when guys like Overeem fights Badr Hari and outweighs him with 40lbs that may have come from roids!
by RoBerto on Oct 15, 2009 7:38 PM EDT up reply actions
6’6 tall and about 223 lbs now i think, but he was down at around 210 lbs when he fought Alistair if i remember correctly.
by RoBerto on Oct 15, 2009 11:26 PM EDT up reply actions
he would be a LHW in MMA, cutting 15 lbs wouldn’t be a prob.
by RoBerto on Oct 15, 2009 11:29 PM EDT up reply actions
overeem is an idiot “yeah im too busy waiting for my cycle to finish so i can come back and beat the testers!!” ROIDHEAD!!
by scott on Oct 15, 2009 10:14 AM EDT up reply actions
overeem beats rogers 19 out of 20 times. overeem doesnt care about what rogers said because he knows he is a nobody, face it if your fighting fedor these days your career is obviously not worth mentioning

LOL at the huge boat in the background! I bet Alistar is sitting on a Bayliner.
by wAyNe on Oct 15, 2009 9:49 AM EDT up reply actions
I was thinking the same thing! Except that Overeem is on a 12ft dihghy with oars.
“Hey, take my picture with this nice big boat in the background than everyone will think it’s mine and that I’m awesome and cool and stuff. Hurry up, I’ll be late for my injection”.
by Freddy on Oct 15, 2009 4:27 PM EDT up reply actions
bet on him not coming back at all. give up the belt already for Fedor v. Rogers can determine a real champ… this is b.s.

He is too busy roiding up as well. This dude will lose once he fights someone good in the states.

What bullshit? He’s apparently the champ no? To me it sounds like he’s demeaning the title and any challengers to it.
by McArthur on Oct 15, 2009 9:44 AM EDT reply actions
Was about to say that too. With their fighting salaries, you think he could afford that yacht?
by The Negation on Oct 15, 2009 6:25 PM EDT up reply actions
exactly synyster!! i wonder what the price tag is on that thing. i’ve seen 1 million dollar boats and they’re nothing compared to that! i say somewhere around 5 million
by deuce 4 on Oct 15, 2009 9:48 AM EDT reply actions
ya I would say closer to 10million…Where’s intro? He knows everything! j/k ;)
by McArthur on Oct 15, 2009 9:51 AM EDT up reply actions
I saw a program on yacht building once – there is some company in Germany that specializes in making luxury yachts for the super-rich.
The cost to the customer is a million per foot – and the current (USD, GBP, Francs, Euro’s) changes depending on how fancy the boat is.

What does he mean he doesn’t have time to respond. He has always found time to talk crap about the fighters in Japan.I say he gets stripped of the title because I do not see him coming to the U.S.. He was not even a top 15 light heavyweight. A little needle here and a little needle there might make you big but not a top ten heavyweight.

Obviously u Guys think Allistair is a joke but you could’t have been more wrong :) allistair has fought the likes of Chuck, Nogueira, Bellfort, Shogun, Kharitonov, Hunt, Crocop, Buentello, Aerts, Badr Hari etc..
Im not saying he won them al or dominated each and every one but wtf who did rogers fought!?!? that even come close to the names above??!? only one i think would be Arlovski :)
Other then that dont forget Allistair is also still in the K1 scene currently fighting in the Quarter-finals against Eweirton Teixera after that he still has a Semi final match and possibly the Final match
He is scheduled for an MMA event in Amsterdam (Glory 11 october 17th) fighting Tony Sylvester and he is scheduled to fight in (Dream 12 october 25th) with an TBA opponent
Allistair is a great fighter and has achieved more the Rogers has it doesn’t matter how u look at it is still the HW strikeforce champion thanks to his wins over Vitor Bellfort and Buentello :)
by Ondiep on Oct 15, 2009 10:29 AM EDT reply actions
I :) agree. In fact :) I now think Overeem is :) awesome and totally doesn’t :) roid. And Rogers has :) fought nobody except a weak :) chinned AA. He is :) truly a great :) champion.
by PW on Oct 15, 2009 10:40 AM EDT up reply actions
Ha Ha! Well, it is true that AO has fought many more big names than BR, but he has only beaten 1 solid, big name fighter and that is Vitor, twice. All the other names that you mentioned were losses.
The point is that he has a belt that he has yet to defend and isn’t planning on defending anytime soon so it would only make sense for the Fedor/Rogers fight to be at least for the interim belt, SF gives him a deadline for how soon he has to come back to defend his belt (of which he never actually won!) or lose it, and move on.
by Figtin on Oct 15, 2009 5:00 PM EDT up reply actions
well you ignornat fans just look at records. allistairs dominated shogun, prime chuck, vitor, lil nog and others before he gassed too soon becasue he was cutting too much weight. his skill has always been there it’s just his stamina wasn’t.
by Jared on Oct 15, 2009 5:54 PM EDT up reply actions
Well see PW btw strong counter arguments there on your part! Except by making a big joke out of it…
by Ondiep on Oct 15, 2009 11:12 AM EDT reply actions
Oh come on, that was funny! And my opinion on Overeem is that he needs to either defend the SF belt or surrender it. I don’t care which, but it’s BS to hold up an entire division for two years like he has. I’ve never said he’s a bad fighter, just that there is no explanation for the massive increase in size and strength he’s put on in a pretty short amount of time.
by PW on Oct 15, 2009 11:33 AM EDT up reply actions
What a freaking joke!!! This roid machine needs to be stripped of the Strikeforce title. Your only a champ when your successfully defending your title. Bret Rogers is totally correct in his accusations. Let’s make our decent heavyweight champ(Overeem) seem like a great fighter…BAH
by andrewarbo on Oct 15, 2009 11:18 AM EDT reply actions
Doesn’t this whole thing just bolster Dana White’s claim that SF is a small regional promotion and not a legitimate threat on the MMA scene. How can SF take themselves seriously when their HW title hasn’t been defended in two years and they don’t seem to be trying to do anything about it. Cung Le was the last title fight in SF that I can remember and that was over a year ago. It’s a joke, who wants to watch a promotion with no legit champions or compelling five round fights.
Strip Overjuiced of the belt, get your shit together, and lets see some fights for the strap.
by Hal on Oct 15, 2009 12:39 PM EDT reply actions
It has become obvious that he is dodging drug testing in the US. First it was a hand injury, but he was able to fight in other shows? Now it is a busy schedule. 100% guaranteed that he would not pass a drug test. Just look at old photos compared to recent photos, I understand that he has been training all of this time, but come on. Captian obvious says roids all the way.
