Sure the guy is lazy, but that was a bit harsh no?

by thetuf75 on Oct 1, 2009 1:43 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

If you got hassled by panhandlers on a regular basis you wouldn’t call that harsh at all. They’re a bunch of useless, lazy fucks who have no desire to work or earn or be in any way a productive member of society. They want to sit around and drink cheap wine and smoke loose cigarettes and expect people who actually work to subsidize them. The only thing that would have made that better would have been if the guy had taken a menacing step toward Tito and gotten punched out.

That’s not fair man…some of these people have mental illness with no one to turn to or family to rely on. You don’t know this guys situation. You typed that all out just to point out how you think these people are inferior to you…get off your high horse.

by tiger_style on Oct 1, 2009 2:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

what’s not fair? it wouldn’t have been fair if Tito gave the guy money so he could go and buy himself some more booze.

He looked perfectly healthy to me. Tito shouldn’t feel bad at all. That bum isnt entitled to anything, no matter what Obama told him.

by kukuxumusu on Oct 1, 2009 2:19 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

imo they are inferior…I’m not talking about people with mental illnesses but about people who don’t work. I’m a firm believer in the saying “where there’s a will, there’s a way”. If there’s no work in Cali…start hitchin’ a ride man…you’ll find work eventually…and how is he on a high horse? cause he was born with work ethic, determination, and a full bank account nobody is born with that…you learn how society works and make conscious desisions to struggle to either work and get by or beg.

nice observation kukuxumusu…that dude looked as though he’s had a meal or 2…it doesn’t bother me so much that people ask for money but IT DOES bother me when they cannot accept no for an answer

tiger, I don’t mean to beat a dead horse but how is someone like that NOT inferior…he has less money, will, work, skill, health, motivation, support…he has a pulse though…most people ARE created equally imo but some stray from opportunity and desire and find themselves asking for change

by McArthur on Oct 1, 2009 2:25 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i live in downtown san diego and theres plenty of bums, so i tend to just ignore them most of the time… one time this guy asked me for a ciggarette and i ignored him, so he says “f*** you!” so i laid into him for a good 60 seconds about how im gonna sleep in my nice queen size bed tonite, how hell be on the curb with the cockraoches, and to enjoy being a loser the rest of his life… felt pretty good about it actually

by brendan on Oct 1, 2009 2:30 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I was just pointing out that it’s pathetic to pass judgement on those you deem “inferior”. We all die in the end so yes we are equal. Why waste energy looking down on others? People have a term for that these days. Hi Hater.

what a tool… a simple “no” would have sufficed, but Tito felt it necessary to belittle a man coming to him with hat in hand asking for a favor. I work downtown, and people ask me for handouts all the time. Sometimes I say no and keep on walking, other times, if i have some change in my pocket, i’ll give it to them. its not a big deal, no need to be so filled with hate people, c’mon! and what does Obama have to do with anything we are tlaking about right now. typical republican throwing obama into everything. if you dont like the usa, go to canada!

Read all your points and hate to disagree with guys like Mac who I pretty much agree with everything he writes but some of you guys are way off.

I work in one of the most run down areas of London and see poverty every single day, due to my line of work.

I have a strong work ethic that i picked up from my Dad. But I stand by Tiger think until you know that guys story, Tito or anyone else should not judge him.

I have met people who are smuggled into the country to work in the vice industry or crime in general, other people who have been abused for a number of years, cannot read or write or hold a conversation in English etc etc.

Sometimes it is not as easy as just getting a job, when you havent got passport or can’t write your name on an application form. Where would that guy put down as his address when applying for this job he is going to get?

Obviously it depends on that guys situation but we don’t know is the point. Not saying Tito should open his wallet immediatly but don’t give the guy a lecture is all.

by Nick J on Oct 1, 2009 5:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

fair enough…I’ll admitt I did judge that guy… my judgement was that he could be earning $$ as opposed to asking for $$…possibly a poor judgement but I doubt it in this case….point taken Nick

by McArthur on Oct 1, 2009 7:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I thought Tito was perfectly reasonable with him. In case you missed it at the beginning, he was already begging for money from Jenna. Then he went into Tito. The dude didn’t know when to quit. Giving these people money doesn’t do an ounce of good. All it does is reward that behavior and mentality. There are excellent organizations that are set up to help the homeless and those with mental illness. I would recommend donating money to them rather than giving to beggars. Way to go Tito for trying to relate to the guy without giving him $$$. See how these m*therf*ckers get belligerent when you don’t give them money? Someone else had already rewarded that dude’s bad behavior in the past.

Not taking anything from anyone, but I just like to say somethin’ about the South Park movie where they said “Canada isn’t even a real country anyway”.
Just found it funny…
With regards to bums, I agree with Mac, in that they should be workin’ instead of waiting for handouts…

by The Negation on Oct 2, 2009 1:10 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I understand what some of you are saying. Basically, giving him money will only feed his bad habits. Still, Tito could have just blown him off without the lecture.

Also, my hatred of Jenna and Tito may blind me a bit. It’s not like the guy can sell his nasty gash, or get his ass kicked around the octagon for obscene amounts of money.

Jenna and Tito are the last 2 people that should be giving lessons on life. Jenna was a high school dropout, as well as a heroine addict, who went from stripping to porno. Some say that she is smart, but I don’t see any of them hoping their daughter turns out to be a high priced hooker. If she was really smart, she wouldn’t have wasted any of that money on a drug problem that has left her looking like shit.

Tito really is pretty smart. He actually has some people believing that he lost to Randy, Chuck (2), Machida, and had lackluster performances against Rashad and Forrest, all because of a back problem. Look at the people he beat during his title reign: Tanner, Sinosic, Shamrock, Yuki Kondo, etc. He is a b level fighter who gets A+ level pay. He would have to be smart to do that.

by naturalshadow on Oct 2, 2009 6:57 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Spot on naturalshadow – Tito is a C level fighter who has pulled a fast one on a lot of supposedly knowledgeable fans. He hasn’t done anything to convince me that he’s even a b level fighter. The greatest achievement of his career is probly sneaking up a triangle on Chida (which 1. he didn’t have and 2. was defended.) I wanna see him fight another competant striker like Luis Cane, T or A Silva, Lil Nog. Any of them would have desperately clasping at their feet tryin to get them down before either the KO or sub.

I did it my way (sorry for the cliche) and am proud of that fact…anyone can do it imo

I took crappy jobs that paid me enough to buy a sandwich and go to the laundromat. That’s it. I was a clean bum, LOL.

by McArthur on Oct 1, 2009 3:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It’s a disgrace the way soldiers are treated after wars, they are sent out for pointless conflicts on behalf of the rich and die or are injured (physically or mentally), yet are treated like crap when they return after risking their lives for their country. None of the armed forces should ever end up homeless and it’s shameful that not more is done to look after them when they return.

That being said, I have a low opinion of beggars, they are clearly too lazy to look for a job themselves and expect handouts for booze or drugs. Usually they caused their own situation and I have little time for those that expect others to help them. Tito made a good point about working hard as a youth, if that guy had his work ethic then he wouldn’t be in the position that he is today.

Simply correct some beggars only go for the cash and have many excuses to ask for it. Like I want to eat or drink something. Food; overrated. But seriously while at a burger king this bum came to my friend and asked him for food. We said no but went inside and got a whopper with large fries for him. He promptly told my buddy to fuck off. Which taught me a lesson and thus I don’t give to anyone on the streets.

he is contributing to society, just no in the way you were taught to think off…the fact is this society we live in cannot work…it cannot exist if there are no poor people…people like you and me depend on these lower classes to have the any type of amenity we can get and it goes up the latter from there. PW…me and you are just sheepn in a system that was design to make people like you and me believe we contribute…contribute what??? nothing….all we do is slave services to make a wage that is cut down and not enough for anything worth equality.

no it wasn’t, I posted this yesterday and good for Tito.
***********I was wrong about the prediction, I’ll admit it and not care what you say!
Just watched TUF from lasrt night and read some of your comments guys and I really don’t get you guys and the double standards! Roy is fat and no one can move him if he’s on top, yet you got a 290 pound HW champion that no one can move if he’s on top… what cause he’s in shape?
“The fight was weak and roy looked terrible.” Are you guys serious, he had a plan, executed and dominated. I didn’t realize this was a stand and bang when your a ground fighter or you’re a pussy thursday! You guys are really amazing. If a football team has a great running back, they run the ball 90% of the time, and win, are they less of a team that has to win in the last second hail mary that saturates ESPN top plays the next day? A win is a win. I commend Roy for executing his game plan!
I’ve been very vocal about Kimbo the “fighter” vs. Kimbo the man, as a man I love him, he seems grounded, humble and eager to learn.
The “fighter” is 35, has no ground game and realistically sub par hands!
I’ll say this too, and I mean it, Dana White is a fucking moron last night. I don’t care how Roy won the fight, you truly showed your true colors last night when your TUF cash cow got dominated! I don’t care if he had him in the crucifix position and poked him on the head with his index finger, Kimbo wasn’t defending himself, period. He didn’t try to shift his hips and move to half guard or guard, there was one point where Roy was way to far over on Kimbo’s right side, Kimbo didn’t attempt an escape, it was a total domination. You may not like Roy, and Kimbo might be the only “star” of this season, but to come ar him like that after a dominating TKO victory was classless, even by Dana White standards!

by kevin on Oct 1, 2009 2:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree kevin. Kimbo basically gave up trying to get out when he got trapped. Hell it look like he just went limp and stopped moving towards the last seconds of the first round.

What intrigues me about kimbo though IS the fact that he’s not that good. The guy truly does want to get better though. You could tell afterwards that he really took that loss to heart. Even though he lost it still makes me want to see what he’ll learn and bring to his next fights.

by tiger_style on Oct 1, 2009 2:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

agreed, dana white is doing exactly what jared shaw did when kimbo got knocked out… flipping out over their “marketable” fighter getting embarrassed, again…

by brendan on Oct 1, 2009 2:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

he won’t learn much and if he does it’ll be too late as he’s already 35 years old and will be competing for the most part with guys 10 years his junior

by kevin on Oct 1, 2009 2:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Kimbo is a better fighter than Roy is, he just needs to be smarter out there and he’ll win with ease over guys like Roy… Roy is so slow that he could have easily avoided the clinch and getting taken down and won a decision

by RoBerto on Oct 1, 2009 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i agree with all of that kevin.

by roy on Oct 1, 2009 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Roberto, you make me laugh every single day buddy, thank you! Add the collosol loss and what has kimbo done besides KO tank abbot?

by kevin on Oct 1, 2009 2:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

brendan, i somewhat agree. dana is definitely protecting slice’s image a little.

but, at least the ufc is still marketing kimbo for what he is,
- a street fighter thats still new to mma-

skala and his slob dad gary, pumped kimbo as the best hw in the world.. big difference in promotion.

kimbo made a huge mistake trying to knee roy in the belly.. kimbo had nelson hurt. when roy charged in to clinch, kimbo should have pushed off and circled out..
that huge knee he attempted ended up costing him the fight imo-

kimbo has definitely improved over the year.. imo, if he didn’t go for that knee, and was able to keep it standing? kimbo had a chance at beating a legit hw fighter..

by stinky~fingers on Oct 1, 2009 2:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i give him his props he fought the best guy in the house and didn’t get destroyed in the first, and roy had to fight smart and use his ground game it was no give me fight for him but kimbo doesn’t seem ready for the ufc to me. i like him as a person and as a fighter but he needs to fight at his level and its not ufc, yet.

by roy on Oct 1, 2009 2:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Kevin-

I think the point is that Roy should have BLASTED Kimbo into oblivion. He didn’t and it made him look subpar.

When you get a one-dimensional fighter in front of you then you should display dominance.

Roy was disappointing and I stand by that statement.

by OJR on Oct 1, 2009 2:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

very true, roy..

kimbo sure does have the popularity to fight in the ufc..

but he sure needs more improvement to compete in the ufc..

nonetheless~ im a big kimbo fan, always have been.. im glad he’s at least going to get the opportunity.. and kimbo’s better in the ufc ‘hands’, rather being with the shaw family.. i know the ufc wont pump him as the next best thing..

That moron Brookhouse at Bloody Elbow titled this video “Tito Ortiz Berates A Homeless Man”.
He says “What does he know about the situation that put this man on the streets?”

My question to that moron is the same that he asked. Also, what does Brookhouse know about living L.A. where this shit happens to everyone, not just celebrities, almost on a daily basis? The majority of these guys are just lazy bums, most addicts, that dont try to better their situation at all. They would rather beg.

I’d put this on his piece, but he banned me way back when I criticized Kimbo Slice. LOL. They Need to change their name to P.C. Elbow.

Actually, the USA on paper is based on capitalism.

In reality, its based on an unofficial royal hierarchy…

A select few are guided to power and control the means of an entire nation while levying people with taxes and sending them to their death whenever it suits them politically.

“Actually, the USA on paper is based on capitalism.”

Not anymore. They were capitalist when the wealthiest %1 controlled %95 of the money. As soon as the wealthiest %1 squandered all of their money, and the other %99 of the American people actually had a chance to get some of that money back into their own pocket, the government said “nah, this capitalist thing ain’t workin’ no more”…then they proceeded to take $700 billion more dollars out wallets of that %99 and give it back to the richest people in the country…..that’s communism my friends.

Wow, a massive political debate stemming from me not hearing what the guy said and saying it was a little harsh to call him lazy when you don’t know the guys circumstances.

And as for the “don’t even go there” comment by RichT, I meant it was harsh to accuse the guy of being lazy. My brother and myself have both worked with homeless people (him more than me to be fair) and they’re not always lazy drug addicted alcoholics. Some are, no doubt, but not all./ I’m sure you’d be up in arms if the guy was calling Tito a knucklehead and trying to generalise MMA fighters?

Homeless people in America live better than most people in 3rd world countries, if they can’t make the most out of the PRIVILEGE of being born in a wealthy country then that is their problem.

Funny how ‘mental illness’ is so prevalent in wealthy nations as well as homelessness, people are just lazy and know that they will get hand outs.

This obvious example is so mentally ill, he can barely grasp the situation of asking someone for money and knowing what to do with said money once he obtains it for little or no effort, clearly the mark of someone who has mental problems.

Homeless people should be forced to clean streets, clean houses, cars, do manual labour and then get free room and board for doing a certain amount of work per week.

by DirtyML on Oct 1, 2009 2:26 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

free room and board? for what? just chain them to the sidewalks that they like so much, throw them some food every once in a while, and beat them if they dont work, problem solved

Look folks, the whole “this country is built on Capitalism, so get out and get a job” is an irrelevant argument nowadays. The US stopped Capitalism when they handed out 700 billion dollars to bail out financial institutions that squandered all of their money…you no longer live in a capitalist country.

I buy homeless people coffee or a hot chocolate at least once a week…it makes me feel good. You should try it.

by RedDog on Oct 1, 2009 9:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The logic behind the bailouts, fundamentally flawed as it was, was that doing nothing would be worse than spending the 700 billion, that the money would enable major lending institutions to continue to function and lend money to small business owners the money they needed to operate their businesses and pay the 85% of Americans who work for small businesses.

Being a staunch fiscal conservative, I was in favor of doing nothing and letting the flawed businesses die off. This would have created a void in the business market and would have allowed smaller and more efficient companies with better business models to fill that void. But unfortuantely, we have a leftist president for the time being who has already added more to our national debt than Bush did, even with 6 years of war spending.

And if you choose to buy a homeless guy a coffee once in a while then more power to you. My problem is with the ones who hold up the ‘will work for food’ signs, but when someone offers them a hot breakfast they get pissed and demand the cash. As much as I complain about illegal immigrants, and we have way more than our share in Texas, they can somehow sneak into Laredo on Friday night and be on a job site in Houston or Dallas by Monday morning, yet these bms who were born here and speak English can’t? Give me a break. That’s enough of a political rant for one day.

by PW on Oct 1, 2009 3:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I hear ya, PW. I just think that turning my back on someone homeless simply because of my political stance would pretty much reserve my spot in hell…that’s all.

As far as the “bailout” is concerned…it’s communism, simple as that.

by introvert on Oct 1, 2009 3:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

…as far as Tito goes. He was a bit harsh. Everyone has the right to do whatever they want with their own money, but why not just say “no, I don’t have any money on me”? Then the whole situation is avoided.

Sure, McArthur…I’m aware. But, all of that gets wiped out if he acts like a complete dick to a homeless man with a camera around…being graceful is a full time job, not part-time.

by introvert on Oct 1, 2009 3:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

agree to disagree…imo he said no and turned his head only to be asked again. The camera rolling would prompt most celeb’s to give despite their desire not to. Tito on the other hand stood fast despite the camera being on. Is Tito the bigger dick for saying no with an explanation? Or is the homeless guy given a pass because he is homeless, well-fed and out of work?

by McArthur on Oct 1, 2009 3:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The only reason Tito married Jenna is that he tastes another mans cock everytime he kisses her. Hey dawg got no job dawg, I was raised in the streets homeboy, I can’t wait to see this guy fail at his pathetic comeback and get his a$$ handed to him by every legitimate lhw out there.

Pretty sure there’s streets in Santa Ana. Being from Canada I could see it would be a little easier being on the streets there than here in Alberta, because of the warm climate (I camp in freezing temperatures), but starving in the streets in California is still starving in the streets.

You know, since this started to get into politics, I just had a thought. Watch this video clip one more time, but instead of Tito, Jenna, and a homeless man, you can picture Obama, his wife, and a banker….

The banker walks up to Obama and asks for a hand out. Obama says “no way dawg…get a a job like I had to do”. The banker persists, “dude, I need some money…help a brotha’ out.” Obama says, “no way…get lost.”

I think Tito Ortiz should have run for president…he would have saved Capitalism in your country.

I agree with some of the posters above……..Working in downtown Chicago, i can asked for money constantly (i barely have any, lol). But i have given some homeless guys money but i think it is terrible when i offer them food/water and they say they want the cash.

If they are homeless, it is most likely due to drugs, lack of support, or mental problems. Well there are many FREE clinics now adays that can help those problems…

Fucking Bums

Although Tito sounded like broken record……….“I came from the streets.” I worked my butt off for what I have.
It’s true……we live in a capitalist society….everyone has an equal chance to succeed. You work hard to achieve a common goal. Haven’t you heard about Johns Smiths theory of the invisible hand in which wealth is distributed to those who are “less” fortunate. And yes I do know that there is more to his theory than what i stated. The help is out there, find it! Maybe if the bums would save the money they get instead of drinking beer and lying around all day, they would have a better quality of life.
I met a homeless person in San Antonio that never asked for money, or cigarettes, but people gave him things all the time. Who would walk over to Jack in the box for breakfast, Popeyes for lunch, Long john for supper, grab a 12 case of beer and watch a movie at his friends house at night. A manager at motel six would have him clean the rooms in exchange for a place to sleep. He is currently waiting for his S.S & Disability case to be reviewed so that he can get off the streets.

Guess what sheeple? Giving money to people who didn’t EARN that money themselves only adds to the problem. I guess all you bleeding hearts have no problem at all when you look at your paycheck stub to find out that 40% of you hard earned money has gone to various sources including giving money to people like this on welfare. See how fast these “equal human beings” get a job when the free money train leaves town.

He’s clean shaven. Always look for the clean shave. If immigrants can work the fields without papers, so can this guy. GET A JOB, stop begging.

by Cali Rick on Oct 2, 2009 12:39 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Just so everyone one knows the mentally ill homeless will never ask for anything. They have to much pride in there world to ask for help because they have a problem. Yes they will go to the soup kitchen to eat. They don’t have to ask because they can walk in and out no questions asked.

Now the ones who beg are usually scam artists. Most are actually quite well off. They have the money for food and amenities some of the working class can’t afford. I have read articles about this. For example when I was in Chile 5 years ago the local newspaper La Mercurio published a report about a lady who begged on the Metro. Apparently some people had seen her shopping at high end retailers in Santiago after she had been seen begging. Well this newspaper followed her after she left the subway one day to a parking garage. She proceeded to get into a MERCEDES BENZ and drive away. The next day they followed her further to her home. She lived in a high end neighborhood similar in nature to BEVERLY HILLS. Now they did confront her and she didn’t say anything. Just told them to get off her property or she would call the police.

Now think about it. You are downtown and walking down the street. How many people can you ask for money in 5 Minutes. Let’s say just one gives you a dollar. In one hour you have made $12 dollars. More than most people make in 2 hours. Ohh and it’s a gift TAX FREE!

I find it interesting that Tito is the one that’s being labeled as the ‘bad guy’. Look at the video again, Tito is in front of half a dozen cameras, this guy just brushes up against a camera man to interrupt and ask him for $$. In my book, that’s b*tch sh*t. He obviously wanted to put him on the spot so he would ‘look bad’ by denying him. Maybe Tito would even give him $20 to look good in front of the cameras?

That guy got what he deserved. There’s a time and place for everything. I occasionally give homeless people money depending on my mood and if I feel that they are genuinely in need. Personally I’m more likely to give to charity when it’s a Red Cross rep outside a store, or Salvation Army. At least I know it’s legit and am not being taken for a fool.

The context of this situation is what pisses me off, especially since it’s a healthy looking guy with a manicured beard.
