Kimbo BECAUSE of two reasons:
1) the media campaign he’s been on this past week
and
2) how the show focused on Rashad’s coaches saying that they were worried that he would “get hurt” like he “did against Arlovski.” That, to me, seems like highly suggestive editing.

I should clarify: the “he” I refer to in #2 is Big Country.
by Collin on Sep 30, 2009 5:12 PM EDT up reply actions
I don’t remember that, Collin, was that in the last episode? I didn’t watch it all so maybe they said it earlier. If this fight hadn’t already occured and were taking place tonight I’d bet anything that Big Country takes it but all these hints and spoilers have my mind bending. You almost forget they actually fought!

Collin… I’ll take your point and go the other way. With all of the media attention, the TUF show tonight will probably draw more views than any “whole” season of TUF. That being said, If Kimbo loses (and I think he will), the ratings are out of this world and now people will follow Kimbo as a Mixed Martial Artist (or at least he is trying to be one) and will tune into the UFC when he is on one of their Fight night or PPV cards. It’s all about ratings. Dana figures he can milk the Kimbo train for top notch ratings before he releases him after 3 or 4 losses in the Octogon. So if you look at it this way, a Kimbo loss that Bankrupt one company will be very profitable for another. And I think Roy is too skilled a fighter for Kimbo. The one good thing about this show is that you get to learn about the fighters and I have learned that Roy Nelson is his own biggest fan..literally

I think your right collin good observation
I was thinking the same thing if he proved dana right by getting smoked his first fight on tuff there is no way he would be in the spirit hes displayed, either that or he is a complete optimist
I would love to see kimbo win by ko that would be great

i’m starting to want kimbo to win the show, in no way am i a fan of his but the guys on there seem like a bunch of assclowns that don’t wanna work hard for it, example the last fight where both dudes gassed after 2 minutes, and abe wagner being a dumbshit, then you add roys constant bitching and not wanting to be coached and acting wholier than hell who’s left to like? kimbo and the dude who won the first fight are the 2 coolest dudes i have seen on the show just because how down to earth kimbo is being about it,and how awesome that other guy looked from the huge underdog spot

good call. I’ve been thinking since Kimbo is fighting so early in the show, he must win. If not, the ratings would drop (in my opinion) since the general public is watching because of him (Kimbo)

if roy loses thats crazy. i just dont see kimbo winning this. i hope he does though. and getting hurt by arlovski is easy, getting hurt by someone like kimbo is embarrasing
by djhbv23 on Sep 30, 2009 5:18 PM EDT reply actions
how? do you not realize the punching power of kimbo? he probably hits harder than arlovski just arlovski is faster and throws more combos.. roy nelson going into the season was my favorite to win, but now i think he’s a royal douche bag
by randy murders on Sep 30, 2009 6:20 PM EDT up reply actions
Oh yeah Kimbo has power but the real question is how is his defence because roy has some power of his own and if Kimbo is able to get past roy that might be enough of an excuse for Dana and the UFC to allow Kimbo in the UFC by beating a veteran fighter like Nelson.

this fight is….ok
im goin w/ kimbo because of the obvious. ufc wasnt marketing this season based on kimbo before the filming was complete. my guess is he does well or is actually in the final. thats the only reason why ufc should be putting those comercials together talking about kimbo kimbo kimbo.

kimbo via split decision
and then i wnt to knw y they move into the same room together??
by mrc on Sep 30, 2009 5:30 PM EDT reply actions
my guess is kimbo loses in a “controversial” split decision. then sometime during the show, someone gets hurt or kicked out of the house and kimbo is the replacement. then he wins his next fight, but loses his third fight.
so then he at least wins one fight, and then he’s fighting on the finale.
otherwise, why would the UFC be hyping him so much? you’re basically heard nothing about any of the other fighters. if kimbo just fought one fight and lost (and then didn’t get to fight again), the UFC wouldn’t be hyping him so much. otherwise, the UFC would be doing exactly what they (dana white) ripped on elite xc for…now, they wouldn’t do that now that they have their hands on him, would they? gasp LOL

Kimbo already leaked this episode’s results on his twitter page…
He knocks Nelson on his ass right away, then mounts him… Nelson pulls guard, sets up a triangle…but then instead of finishing the triangle, his stomache starts to growl and he eats Kimbo’s beard right off of his face. Kimbo wins via beard biting disqualification. After the fight Nelson states “well, I was hungry…wtf would you do?”

Nelson by submission in R1, I’ll be surprised by any other result (except Nelson by submission in R2). I don’t buy into the Kimbo promotion arguments at all because Kimbo is the biggest name contestant on this show by a mile, so of course him and Dana are going to be promoting his appearances to death, especially when he’s set to fight the other big name and arguably the best fighter on this series.
Never been a Kimbo fan and never will, nothing against him personally but I’ll never buy into overrated street fighters and all of this TUF hype is driving me mad. Not a big fan of Nelson either, his attitude this series has been shocking so far and anyone who is proud of being that size is an idiot, even worse when they’re supposed to be a professional athlete.
This will be a sick fight but I am sick of all of the foilers, inside sources and multiple Kimbo interviews that all sound the same. “I’m street certified, you know what I’m saying, I’m here to fight, you know what I’m saying, I’m here to prove myself and become an ultimate fighter, you know what I’m saying, I’m doing this to feed my family, you know what I’m saying” etc etc.

I just searched the entire internet and found that it is only a rumor that Wes Sims leaked the fight via his iphone on twitter. But in my opinion, I havent a clue towards who wins; if they do get the best ratings tonight ever, then Dana won’t care if no one tunes in cuz Kimbo’s out, but the hype behind Kimbo from Dana may suggest he does win…..Roy is not outta Kimbo’s league, Kimbo did fight Sean Gannon and he’s a lot like Nelson.

It’s a simultaneous KO. Kimbo hits nelson’s belly, causing his fist to bounce back and drill him in the face. Nelson, after he gets hit in the belly, instinctivly leans forward into Kimbo’s beard – knocking him out instantly. Then Junie Browning rushes the cage and tries to fight Wes Simms, who illegally foot stomps him. Meanwhile Brock sees the opportunity to ko an isolated Mazzagati and rushes him. Mazzagati, never one to be caught off guard, performs a roundhouse kick that sends Brock into Josh Koscheck who was drinking a gallon of water. Josh goes flying into a sleeping bag where Chris Leben is resting, drenching him with the water in the process. Leben jumps out of his sleeping bag angrily and destroys one of those fake doors. Gabe Rudinger happens to be gaining weight in the room of the door that Chris Leben destroys. The sight of Chris Leben destroying a door frightens him out of his chair. As he falls out of his chair, his arm hits the thermistat up to 85 degrees.
Meanwhile, Dana, Rashad, and the rest of the gang notice the temperature rise. A simultaneous nipple tweak occurs. Chuck comes in, asks Dana to do the foxtrot, and they dance out of the gym.

Why didn’t Kimbo throw any punches? He didn’t look like the guy on the videos on youtube. He looked like he was scared to throw any punches. He had a good chance standing up. That crap in the 2nd round with counting those girly punches was a joke! Dana White’s ittle girl hits harder than that. Oh well, maybe Kimbo should have thrown a few more punches while he was on his feet. It’s just unfortunate that Kimbo had the Pillsbury dough boy fall on him. The ref should have stood them up sooner. If the other corner wasn’t counting those gnat taps, he never would have stood the fight up. What a wuss for caving in and stopping the fight…..

This is a terrible blow to MMA. This fight was the worst representation of mma. I dont know why the UFC would promote Kimbo so hard only to have the average person tune in to see a horrible fight. This did not make any new fans tonight, this might even have lost the casual fan to a once in a while fan. For all u Kimbo supporters should of relaxed and watched before you jumped on the band wagon. I mean did people actually think he was a threat. He barely made it past the Colussus. Kimbo is a waste to watch and the UFC should promote him as such

Shame on the UFC for hyping this POS fight as a “BIG” thing.
Dana and co. knew this fight was a dud but they hyped it up like it was a big deal.
As bad a Roy was for not finishing Kimbo, Kimbo couldn’t keep big fat Roy from winning the fight. If Roy is a POS, then Kimbo is even worse.

There were multiple occasions where Herb should have stood them up or broke them apart. When they were clinched and just hugging each other for a while, they should have been broken up. Many times on the ground they should have been stood up.
Bad reffing in my opinion. Would it have changed the fight? who knows, but he did a shady job.
