It’s just a test to see if people actually read what Mania types in the articles, or if they just reply to them after reading the title.

It’s ground breaking research.

Betcha’ Dana sometimes scans this site to see what the MMA Keyboard Geeks are typing ..

FYI: Yesterday Dana, said that Anderson is 2 fights away from cleaning out the MW division. Dana doesnt want him to vacate the title until he beats vitor and the winner of Nate/Hendo! Sounds like Anderson is really going to vacate that title and permanently move on to bigger and better challenges…Oh Happy day!

by john G on Sep 30, 2009 8:49 AM EDT up reply actions

On a conference call yesterday, Kimbo said that he was training for a fight in December with ATT. Most everyone asumed that he was fighting at the finale, not in the finals, but against Abe or some other scrub.

BUT, Kimbo slipped and said that he was fighting at UFC 107 in Memphis.

Makes sense, seeing that Kimbo has a 0.00005% chance at making the finals of TUF and that Dana would want to cash in on Kimbo on a PPV and generate a lot of revenue through PPV sales instead of putting him on tv for free on live on spike at the finale.

by ViolentMike on Sep 30, 2009 9:21 AM EDT up reply actions

Nope. Not moving on to new division and vacating the belt.

He is however moving on to better things, if you meant, much more money! As he’s gonna vacate his belt & leave UFC to fight somewhere else. Aka as boxing. Where he can get the money he deserves. More then anyone in mma

Jesse taylor will return to action on the main card of Strikeforce’s Nov. 6 “Challengers Series” event at Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif. against that TBA guy!

Also, “The crow” Louassio wants to return to the UFC so bad that he is seriously considering trying out for TUF 11

by john G on Sep 30, 2009 9:32 AM EDT up reply actions

Damnit now he’s officially in the UFC. This is a joke. No way in hell Kimbo Slice is main card worthy or UFC caliber. I honestly don’t think there’s a single person in the UFC HW or LHW divisions I would bet on Kimbo against.

In reference to how Showtime is promoting MMA, I like how Dana used “freak show” without ever mentioning the name “Herschel Walker”

“Best season ever…” STFU Dana.

by El Mexicutioner, formerly The Mexicutioner on Sep 29, 2009 10:14 PM EDT reply actions

I personally haven’t been this excited about a season of TUF in a while. I like how it is heavyweights and Kimbo adds some excitement as well. Roy Nelson is very talented so the show isn’t really lacking in that either.

by RyanHobbs on Sep 29, 2009 10:28 PM EDT up reply actions

I wouldn’t call Roy Nelson talented, but i know what u mean.

by RoBerto on Sep 29, 2009 10:40 PM EDT up reply actions

Well in comparison to most of the people that you see go through TUF, I would say that he is the best thus far. He got screwed in the Arlovski fight and also in the Monson fight from what I heard.

by RyanHobbs on Sep 29, 2009 10:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Roberto – Roy is talented. He may blow it against Kimbo, but his IFL fights were solid, great ground game, heavy hands.

by MMACrossfire on Sep 29, 2009 10:48 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah, but that is because he’s been in the game for longer than anybody on the show.. you can be a good fighter and still not be talented.. I hope you mean this season too, cause there’s been tons of guys more talented than Roy is, he’s not even more talented than the guys he’s better than..

by RoBerto on Sep 30, 2009 12:01 AM EDT up reply actions

Oh I think you are referring to natural physical talent, yes?

by RyanHobbs on Sep 30, 2009 12:05 AM EDT up reply actions

Roberto I think you are misunderstanding the point. Roy Nelson is a black belt in BJJ and has competed in the ADCC grappling championships. You don’t get invited to that tournament if you don’t have some serious skill on the ground. I think he is talented simply because if I was that fat with a big gut my agility and sprawl would be really slow. Nelson has a lightning quick sprawl and amazing agility on the ground for his size.

by Afa on Sep 30, 2009 2:28 AM EDT up reply actions

Girls LOVE my ground game and call me very talented, but I didnt get invited to ADCC!!! lol

Lame! I know! Flame away its early!

Fyi: I banged my roomates Boss last night! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!

by john G on Sep 30, 2009 8:45 AM EDT up reply actions

There is a beautiful video on youtube of him clowning Mir on the ground. Pretty good – if you believe Mir’s ground work is worth a damn.

by NameNotRequired on Sep 30, 2009 8:48 AM EDT up reply actions

I am still baffled as to how mir became a star!

He isnt a phenomenal grappler. He has some of the best jits in the UFC HW division, but that isnt saying much! He aways getting matched up against guys who are clueless in Jits, which is why the UFC is able to market him as some kind of ground wizard! Who has Mir submitted in the UFC thats worth a damn? Sylvia? Hardonk? Brock in his 1sts fight after referee interfered and hit brock over the head with a steel chair? and Please dont bring up the win over Traven.Tank Abbot? Submit a guy like Nog, Werdum, Gonzaga and THEN i will bow down! Mir has never even competed in ADCC!!

Mir needs to get matched up against Gonzaga!!!!!!!! I would have given any amount of money to see Mir being made to look like a white belt against Werdum!

Please Mr. UFC, I have been a good boy, I am begging, please book: Nog vs. Mir 2! lol

FYI: I pray that the UFC eventually books:
Mir vs. Big Country so Nelson can make him look foolish again!

With all the great fighters in the UFC, Dana needs to stop marketing Crap as if its Gold!

by john G on Sep 30, 2009 8:58 AM EDT up reply actions

Roberto- Experience without skill means nothing. Everyone who has ever trained in any type of combat sport has seen guys that have done something all their lives get clowned by a guy who has maybe 1 years experience. Roy has much more skill than the average TUF contestant, and may very well win the whole thing.

by naturalshadow on Sep 30, 2009 9:16 AM EDT up reply actions

Excellent points John G. I’ve also heard that the way Mir makes it look so easy is that he trains all his subs from the opposite side, so he’s doing everything backwards from the way guys have trained. So defending is like trying to write something while looking at your paper in a mirror. It’s like being the only southpaw in boxing. Gives him a big edge.

by shonuff on Sep 30, 2009 9:24 AM EDT up reply actions

I didnt know that Shonuff. Thanks for the intel

by john G on Sep 30, 2009 9:43 AM EDT up reply actions

well, he’s not naturally gifted in the standup and if you train BJJ for many years it’s hard not to get good at it.. he has his talents but it’s not like he is this technical talented guy.. there are so many guys more talented than him, they just haven’t put the time in to reach their potential like Roy has

by RoBerto on Sep 30, 2009 11:04 AM EDT up reply actions

This surely means that Kimbo knocks Nelson out very early in this fight. Why in the hell would Dana keep promoting Kimbo if he lost to Nelson in TUF. Kimbo beats Nelson by TKO at 4:30 of round 1.

by Ryan on Sep 29, 2009 11:05 PM EDT reply actions

Because Kimbo loses and Dana has to capitalize on the hype before if fizzles faster Rampage’s Oscar hopes?

by loup02 on Sep 30, 2009 12:42 AM EDT up reply actions

Exactly, if Kimbo went on to win a few, they wouldn’t have to promote the shit out of him for the last week. They could have spread it out a bit. Nelson will take him to the ground and submit him, just like anyone would expect him to do.

by naturalshadow on Sep 30, 2009 9:18 AM EDT up reply actions

could be…win or lose, Dana wants to get as many people to tune in tonight as possible. If Kimbo wins, people will want to keep watching him progress in the sport. If he gets schooled, a lot of people will say, "Wow, this is a REAL SPORT and these PROs are on a whole different level than our neighborhood baddasses! Most average Americans still think the UFC is just a hyped-up circus Tough-Man contest full of other guys like Kimbo. If Kimbo wins, the UFC gains fans. If he loses, the UFC gains respect. It’s a win/win situation for Dana & Co.

by shonuff on Sep 30, 2009 9:17 AM EDT up reply actions

I have to imagine that Kimbo has some success, whether that means he beats Roy or has a great showing against Roy or gets a 2nd chance due to injury and shines. Either way, he absolutely must have some success. Why else would ATT want him in their camp? Why else would Dana be putting this guy out there like they’ve been doing the last week?

What a lot of people are overlooking is why the ratings are important. Just a hunch, but perhaps the UFC is attempting to show a certain network TV station their pull on a cable station in the middle of the week to better position themselves in contract negotiations. Just a thought.

ATT is a giant school, with gyms all over Florida. You don’t have to be anyone to train at ATT, anyone can train there if they pay for the training. They may not charge him, but only because he will bring in other paying students.

by naturalshadow on Sep 30, 2009 9:23 AM EDT up reply actions

I doubt Kimbo does very well.

by Jennifer on Sep 30, 2009 12:31 AM EDT reply actions

when the guy is the main reason your get 6.0 tv ratings then yeah id promote the shit out of him too… if Dana owns him why not….

Owns as an employee.*

Wasn’t TUF 9 supposed to be the best ever? It was the most boring ever. And this season has been even more boring.

TUF 8 was great, 1, 2 and 3 were great. 6 was great.

But TUF 4 was easily the best in my opinion.

by lavis on Sep 30, 2009 2:57 AM EDT reply actions

i liked season 4 and season 5 was also one of the best seasons too – a lot of decent fighters have come through that season – diaz, maynard, wiman & emerson

Me too MMA Store…I’m rooting for the guy now.

by Stinky nuts on Sep 30, 2009 8:48 AM EDT reply actions

How can you not root for the guy…He is a class act if you ask me! He is such a nice guy, that since the filming of the show has ended, other contestants have been calling Kimbo to appologize for talking smack to him during the show!

Anyone who stays humble after the entire world talks crap about them is OK in my book…so with that said,

WAR KIMBO!!!!!!!!!

by john G on Sep 30, 2009 9:46 AM EDT up reply actions

and that’s why I’m now rooting for the guy now. Duh.

He’s been misrepresented to this point. Total class act and very humble guy.

by Stinky nuts on Sep 30, 2009 12:16 PM EDT up reply actions

WOW best season of the Ultimate Fighter ever??? Considering the first two fights where some of the worst fights I have ever seen. That is a bold statement.
