How was the guy Badr Hari fought in the same weight class? Badr was HUGE compared to him.
I haven’t followed K-1 too much before, but I think I’m going to start getting into it.

thanks man….I wish Badr Hari would work with Chuck Liddell for a year and develop Takedown defense and fight in the UFC. Badr with mma gloves would be amazing to watch!

Badr Hari in MMA would be sick, though it’s probabaly too late for him to make the transition and he’d end up like Manhoef i.e. great standing, awful on the ground. It would be great to see him rematch Alistair under MMA rules in Japan though.
Remy, Badr and Alistair have to be the favourites for this tournament, Hari and Overreem in particular looked great. Hopefully this year there’ll be a more definitive winner.
Felt bad for Manhoef, thought he looked great against Remy despite the size disadvantage and he was unlucky to lose. You’d think that he’d won the way he celebrated and the crowd cheered him, funny when he ran up to the Japanese lady as well she was loving it.

Yeah, Im worried about Overeem having a good chance, I don’t want him to win.. He fights pretty dirty to be honest, I don’t really like guys in K-1 that goes for the thai clinch to throw several knees like that, I have no problem with jumping and flying knees coming in but he muscles his opponent around and pushes the head down like it’s MMA or something..

I agree Robert. I dont like dirty K-1 fighters….plus I cant respect Alistar for not being able to fight in the USA because of his “Horse meat” lol

I prefer the ground scrambles and transitions in MMA to the stand up battles. The stuff like Diego/Diaz, Diaz/Karo, and Tyson/Guida, Tyson/Tavares is why I love MMA so much. But still, the technique that these guys have, and the fluidity of their combos with punches and kicks is spectacular.

I’ve been following MMA as well as K-1 for a very long time now and i honestly feel like Overeem could win this grand prix. He looked fearless, technical and powerful against a world-class K-1 fighter in Peter Aerts. Overeem has already KO’ed Badr Hari and should’ve definately won against Remy. After this grand prix, it would be great 2see him against Fedor…that wouyld be SICK!

I don’t know why Peter kept circling left and walking into those short right hooks. I thought he would maintain distance and keep up a high workrate of leg kicks, body shots and jabs. Overeem is a close quarter fighter. He never jabs or damages from distance. If guys keep on letting him close in on them then i agree. But when he’s matched up with a guy who can keep him away a guy like Semmy, i think his run ends.

Aerts is an old man and Overeem has more steroids in him than Hulk Hogan in the 80’s.

exactly NNR, Overeem is far from the best K-1 fighter..

badr hari is a douchenozzle. it was great to see overeem smash his face earlier this year. in hari’s own backyard of K-1 no less.

douchenozzle lmfao!i havnt got time for the roidhead either, both of them are bad for the sport imo.

who’s bad for the sport? Badr Hari? LOL, he’s carrying K-1 on his shoulders right now, he’s their biggest star by far!..

Overeem reminded me in some ways of Le Banner from a few years past, though without the constantly moving forward attitude. His boxing is getting a lot better and he’s using more kicks than his previous K-1 matches, but he still has a knack for throwing his opponents to the ground, fighting semi-dirty in K-1, but effective nonetheless. Aerts looked in really good shape too, probably the best shape he’s been in in years.
Le Banner looked in good shape, didn’t look overly tired in the later rounds as usual, I guess training with GSP and his conditioning coach was a good idea. JLB didn’t look as aggressive as he used to be, he’s still moving forward all the time, but not throwing the bombs 24/7. I still hope he does well in the tournament and draws Texeira, Schilt or Bonjasky in the next round and lays down some sweet vengeance. Odds are against him winning it all, but you gotta feel for a guy who is nicknamed “the best K-1 fighter to have never won the WGP”.

yeah i think hes probably the sentimental favorite in most peoples eyes… i just cant see him getting by hari or schilt though, those guys would pick him apart from the outside all day

there is no protien powder in the world that can make Allistar that much bigger and defined

How anyone can doubt that Overeem is on steroids is beyond me. He looked like a feather compared to chuck a few years back and now he looks shredded and 10x bigger. I think this is why he keeps pushing back his title defense in Strikeforce. Can’t fight without the juice I guess.
by Nini on Sep 27, 2009 1:45 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Who doubts it? I’ll tell you who: Complete and utter retards.
He’s the biggest user of steroids I have ever seen.

You figure Overeem had to cut 20lbs to make 205. So lets say a while back he weighed usually around 220. Now take that 220 use weights and bulk up. I personally dont think he is on steriods.. he just doesnt have to worry about cutting weight.
