Singh won Asia GP. Not too impressive on a technical level or athletic skills. Gritty though. He’ll quick see that the skill level jumps up a considerable level here.

John, matchups were announced a while ago. I am still waiting for BetUs to wake up and get the odds up there. They have been on Bodog since this morning. I also noticed they had odds for the ADCC as well.
Badr/Remy/Zimmerman/Texiera is a parlay I want to place, and I want to put some money on Ghita to upset Semmy. GHita is for real, it just sucks that he drew Semmy in the first round.
Not sure if I plan on staying up all night tonight or watching it tomorrow…

^ I believe so, but I’m picking Texeira over Jaideep. Of his 34 wins, I think he only has 4-5 KO wins (mind you, 2 of them were in the single-night tournament he won to get here), and in the WGP, I don’t think that will play into his favour.
My picks for the Final 16 are:
Schilt (a lot of people are picking Ghita, don’t know why)
Bonjasky (don’t think Manhoef will win the rubber match)
Hari
Overeem (Aerts is good, but I want Overeem to take this)
Feitosa (I hope he gets his revenge on Zim)
Le Banner (please let this be his year to win it all!)
Karaev
Texeira

Have you seen Ghita do work on people’s legs. That’s some serious grown man business. Also the fact that Semmy is a late replacement and didn’t do so good in his last outing. I’ve got Ghita doing good work from close range and taking the UD.
Manhoef just doesn’t have it in him. Or doesn’t care it seems. I got Teixeira as my dark horse in this thing. Karaev’s chin is kinda suspect right now so not sure about him.

Looking forward to this event. Badr Hari is one of my K-1 faves….after Buakaw anyway.
by introvert on Sep 25, 2009 11:38 AM EDT reply actions
yeah man, I ove Hari, but Buakow is one of my favorite fighters in all combat sports!

So let me get this straight Overeem is too hurt to defend the Strkeforce belt but he’s ok to fight in K1.That’s Chewbakka dude……it doesn’t make sense.

I guess he has to wait until all of that horsemeat is out of his system

In an interview his trainer said something like they didn’t want to deal with M-1 and as far as their strikeforce contract, they would try to get out as long as they are copromoting.
by fmx on Sep 25, 2009 12:12 PM EDT up reply actions
So does that mean he’s relinquishing the title

Alistair said in his latest interview with Japanese reporters that he’s set to face Fedor in 2010 for the title, though that’s looking past Grim. The reporters presumably said something about his hand (though it looked like they were zooming into his balls) but I don’t speak Japanese and Alistair never mentioned it. Personally I don’t see him fighting in the US ever again, unless he drastically loses his “horsemeat” physique.

Singh Heart is a Indian fighting out of Vancouver Canada. He had an easy tournament to get through. I would say he didn’t really strike me as someone who could challenge.
The dark horse is Daniel Ghita out of Romania. He has some very wicked leg kicks and some power. He was hitting people so hard the stuffing was coming out of the gloves. He did get lucky when Melvin got hurt I’ll add that. Ghita won in record time. Like a total of just less than 3 mins fighting in total for the whole tournament.
Saki hurt himself at the Asia Tournament in an exhibition fight a Ukrainian. I wonder if he’ll be up for it.
Zabit Samedov is a Bulgarian nice a quick and has been to this point before. I think has gotten rather far in the past. But I think he is past he prime now.

Samedov is from Belarus ( same place as AA)
by Mr. Jitters on Sep 25, 2009 12:45 PM EDT up reply actions
