MANIA!! im sure you guys can find out this question for us and im really curious to know what will happen to guys like Mirko Cro Cop and Wandy? Will they be able to get inducted into the UFC hall of fame even though they made their illustrious careers outside the UFC? cause itll be a shame if later down the road guys like Ken Shamrock and Dan Savern are rememberd but not guys like Cro Cop and Wandy! im sure you guys can find out!
by JR on Sep 24, 2009 7:54 PM EDT up reply actions
also cause im pretty sure any HOF outside the UFC wont be as important or cared about as a UFC HOF… sad to say but true
by JR on Sep 24, 2009 7:55 PM EDT up reply actions
Since the UFC bought pride I’m sure they’ll have a “pride wing” of the “hall,” thing is Fedor would have to be inducted and I don’t see Dana doing that!
by kevin on Sep 24, 2009 7:59 PM EDT up reply actions
its called the “UFC hof”, if ur not a UFC great then too bad, i guess they have to settle with some second rate WAMMA hof..
by guyverbob on Sep 24, 2009 8:38 PM EDT up reply actions
Guyverbob,
By that logic, any and all great Negro League players shouldn’t be in the baseball (MLB) hall for the same reason. They played in a different league.
by Jeff on Sep 24, 2009 11:57 PM EDT up reply actions
I don’t think they’ll be inducted. People will always bring up questions about Pride’s level of competition and like you already said – Non UFC fighters who haven’t had good performances in the cage yet. Someone like Nog though has won an interim title so i think they;ll make the exception. This might change though if dana and lorenzo change it to MMA hall of fame or fn WAMMA stops dicking around with belts and tries to replicate baseball (idk anything about baseball but i believe the HOF is a seperate entity than MLB?)
Also if John hasn’t broke this yet ****SHAOLIN SIGNS WITH STRIKEFORCE***

why would cro cop be inducted into the ufc hall of fame? his only wins have been against “cans” – sanchez and al-turk! his only notble contribution in the ufc, not mma, is being ktfo’d by gonzaga
by paolo on Sep 25, 2009 6:04 AM EDT up reply actions
It is a HOF for MMA.
UFC did not invent MMA, it is the best production out there that is representing the sport of MMA.
Not having Wand and the rest inducted in the UFC HOF takes away from the UFC’s credibility.

NNR: Naw man, that is the 1st I have heard of Shaolin. THanks for the heads up buddy…I dont get a chance to break fights that much anymore. I dont have the free time I did when I was in school!

I find it funny that Rashad said he’d like to fight Thiago, of course you do Rashad cuz your team mate fights everyone first so you can better train for them. If this fight does happen Im still pickin my boy Thiago

If you look at Rampage’s fights in the UFC, they weren’t that great. He was stiff in his first one and the rest weren’t overwhelming like his highlights in Pride – much like Cro Cop.
Let him go.

I have a feeling that if Kimbo loses his fight to Nelson. down the road some other heavyweight might get hurt and he will have a second chance. Anyone else see something like that happening besides me?
by sokhl on Sep 24, 2009 8:42 PM EDT reply actions
I actually had the exact same thought when they announced he’d be on the show. Especially with how much they are promoting his name for the show. He’ll be the first one back if someone gets injured
by cheshirewulf on Sep 24, 2009 8:56 PM EDT up reply actions
did anyone else hear that kimbo gets knocked out a minute into the fight
by mike on Sep 24, 2009 8:57 PM EDT reply actions
there is NO WAY POSSIBLE kimbo loses his first fight…think business perspective dana n the ufc marketed tuf around him…for all the kimbo fans 2 see him lose week 3 would make them stop watching the show…thats y they made sure they announced the fight at the end of this week so every1 will watch next week for rating n to continue the kimbo hype
by hahaha hehehe on Sep 24, 2009 9:13 PM EDT reply actions
Win or lose, they would promote him like they have. Who else is marketable on that show?
by Jay on Sep 24, 2009 9:17 PM EDT up reply actions
nobody, Marcus is probably the next guy after Kimbo.. but they did decide to show how lazy and cocky Roy was and how the trainers confronted him about it.. that might be a sign of Kimbo knocking him out!
by RoBerto on Sep 24, 2009 10:00 PM EDT up reply actions
I strongly feel that Roy has the best chance of winning TUF 10. He’s got the most experience and has been through it all before in the IFL.
Who else compares?
- Wes the gas-less tank?
- McSweeny?? Greg Jackson should be ashamed of him, after all, McSweeny bragged how he’s been training with Jackson for over a year – what a pathetic performance.
- Abe, enough said.
- The guy who fought Abe, not much better.
So far, Roy has everyone covered, including Kimbo.
by UFC Champ on Sep 25, 2009 8:32 AM EDT up reply actions
Also, Roy Nelson is the least likely fighter that would be willing to take a “dive” against Kimbo. Roy got the most on the line. Rothwell gets right into the UFC with headliner status, and Big Country gets TUF
by ViolentMike on Sep 25, 2009 9:25 AM EDT up reply actions
the nfl guys are probably more well known to sports fans in the usa. i’d not heard of any of them but nfl is not that popular here in the uk. they should be equally as marketable
i think roy will win and kimbo will come back later in the show as a replacement for someone who pulls a “jason pierce” or gets hurt!
all the advertising segments are probably taped leading up to the recording of the show, i’ve seen plenty of big country rubbing his belly and being touted as a former ifl heaveyweight champion in the ads so by your logic he should have a central role in the season? no, spike don’t have a say into who fights who they are just trying to sell their show to the public and as kimbo is the most well known he has featured on a lot of the ads.
by paolo on Sep 25, 2009 6:20 AM EDT up reply actions
paolo, if those were NFL guys hat anyone other then their family members knew, they wouldn’t be on TUF. They were guys that didn’t make it in the NFL! Marcus maybe, but shimmers no!
by kevin on Sep 25, 2009 12:34 PM EDT up reply actions
Umm they announced it bc they want every1 to watch it… As for Kimbo losing, how can you possibly be so sure he’ll win? Maybe the fight picking is a bit rigged but the outcomes of the fights certainly aren’t, and win or lose, Kimbo would be still fighting in the 3rd week of the show so they unquestionably DID risk him losing in this week. Your saying if he did lose that they would have pretended the fight never happened and aired it later in the season to fool everyone? Your argument makes no sense at all.
by frosnt on Sep 24, 2009 9:29 PM EDT up reply actions
dont matter for marketability the amount of exposure would b like suicide for him 2 lose week 3…this is the ufc..not elite xc…there not that stupid
by hahaha hehehe on Sep 24, 2009 9:32 PM EDT reply actions
Not at all. People aren’t tuning in to see Kimob “win”, they’re tuning in to see if he “can fight”.
by Jay on Sep 24, 2009 9:33 PM EDT up reply actions
HeeHaaw, Frostnt is right, you’re post makes no sense….unlesss you’re implying that the UFC is rigging the outcome of the fights. I thought they would postpone the fight as long as possible to give Kimbo time to learn. I was really surprised they let Rashad pick him so soon and to fight the odds-on-favorite! But now that he’s slated to fight, what can the UFC do about it. The TUF 10 ratings are now entirely in Kimbo’s hands (or more likely in Roy’s).

am I the only person who thinks that Koscheck is the only person in WW who could give GSP a run for his money? Quick hands, great wrestling… Would be a great rematch.
OFF TOPIC: but speaking of GSP. I think GSP would destroy Silva just because his shot is so quick. Just my opinion.
by Jayme on Sep 24, 2009 9:58 PM EDT reply actions
I don’t think that Kos has a chance but he won’t get near him if he fights any1 good before he gets a shot. I also think that GSP would beat Silva.
by frosnt on Sep 24, 2009 10:21 PM EDT up reply actions
No, I think you’re right, jayme. Fitch and Kos are still the only one’s likely to even make GSP break a sweat. George is just on another level right now. I’d like to see him fight some new guys like Jake Shields, Nick Diaz, and Frank Shamrock. (I know Frank is past his prime, but he’s still a very exciting and entertaining fighter.)

how arrogant can you be to talk shit about rampage?
all of you should be ashamed of your douchery
by Zim on Sep 24, 2009 10:52 PM EDT reply actions
Rampage easily makes over a million a fight with his ppv revenue and sponsership deals includeded prob close to 2.5 mill. Bottom line he declined to fight rashad for the belt machida took it and won. Then he was offered a shot but decided he wanted to settle the score with rashad and they got on the ultimate fighter as coaches. He then gets the fight with rashad in his home town of memphis like he requested and then proceeds to hold that up with some b class movie and now he quits because dana is pissed, rampage grow up please and get a manager to make decisions for you because you obviously cant make them for yourself.
by mma guru on Sep 25, 2009 1:06 AM EDT reply actions

by shonuff on Sep 25, 2009 9:15 AM EDT up reply actions
Chuck said he made 1.5 – 2 mill a fight, so I imagine rampage makes close to what he did when everything comes together and that A-team movie is gonna be a joke, its gonna be worse than the dukes of hazard remake.
by mma guru on Sep 25, 2009 12:21 PM EDT up reply actions
they did a dukes remake?
the brady bunch was pretty bad too!
I read that with all the hype of tuf and it being in Memphis, Rampage was guaranteed 3 million for this fight, probably woulda gotten more!
by kevin on Sep 25, 2009 12:31 PM EDT up reply actions
Khaos_warrior, why you laughing at guru? It was reported that by doing the A-Team movie, he’s giving up 3 million minimum from fight with Rashad. Thats why Rampage is so pissed, Dana wasn’t supposed to say anything, Rampage told him n confidence. he got paid under a million for A-Team and was promised 15-20 million (if it does well) for a sequel… how many of those TV remakes have done well and had sequels???
by kevin on Sep 25, 2009 12:42 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m predicting that Kimbo loses in his fight against Big Country (you’re out of your mind if you think he wins) BUUUUUT gets brought back later in the show when someone gets hurt and knocks out his next opponent. You heard it here first. Remember these words when this actually happens

Rampage Fires Back At White, Evans

Rampage Fires Back At White, Evans
The following is a blog post taken from Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s personal blog addressing the fallout over his decision to retire from fighting:
“Make no mistake the UFC treated me a lot better than Pride. If you get hurt in training in a UFC fight then will send you to the best doctors. If you get hurt in a Pride fight most of the time they will tell me “oh you better take care of that!” The UFC will always let you know in a timely matter who you will be fighting & give you enough time to train but with Pride if I knew 4 weeks ahead I would be happy cause most times they just give you a 2 weeks notice. Pride will rip you off on your merchandising but the UFC would find someway to hook you up on merchandising deals. Pride will make fights easier for certain fighters inside the ring (like standing up fights early). With the UFC whatever happens happens. The only thing I see the UFC needs to fix in this area is to get better judges. Ones who know about MMA & not from the boxing world.
“The reason why I’m talking about all this is that I feel like this whole situation could have been avoided if UFC would have respected me more & rescheduled the fight about a month or more in my hometown, which I know fights can be rescheduled because of the Matt Hughes & Matt Serra was postponed due to injuries. Instead, Dana went on the internet & started talking bad about my decision. All we had to do was come to a certain type of argreement or understanding, which later came after a lot of trash talk from Dana. My manager flew to Vegas & talked to them & tried to work things out like a MAN. & still I keep quite & I didn’t talk trash back on the internet. The only reason why I’m even talking now is because I feel like I owe my fans an explanation because I am a MAN, a real MAN. Yeah I made good money with the UFC more than Pride, but I made both shows more money than they made me. I didn’t care too much about Pride treating me like crap cause I was an American in a Japanese company. Now in my own country, I feel like I’m being disrepected. Everything is not about how much money you make. You could be the richest man in the world but if nobody repsects you then it don’t mean shit. You can’t buy respect. It should be earned. & thats what I’m all about.
“Now Rashad wanna put his two cents in. Rashad remains to be a boy under me. He wins a few fights, and some of them I thought the judges fell asleep during the fight & woke up & saw him playing with his nipples & guessed he won. He knocked Chuck Liddel out when Chuck wasn’t even the same man anymore. & now he thinks he’s on my level. Yeah he talks about how he beat Forrest & I lost. But when I fought Forrest that was the worst Rampage I had ever seen. & I still know in my heart I won that fight. So now he’s Mr. All Cocky & says I got a big mouth & talk a lot of smack. If my memory serves me correctly, he’s the one that got into my face after the Jardine fight & started talking trash when he was the one that was originally supposed to fight me that night, but he told Dana on the phone he didn’t want to fight. He wanted to keep his belt longer. Now, I’m not saying wether or not I would have beaten Machida, but I wouldn’t have went out like a bitch like the way he did. So I’m the one that was looking forward to the Rashad fight the most. I have always been a fighter my whole life. As a kid my family treated me like shit which made me the person who I am today. This is why when I meet people I treat people the way I want to be treated (unless they approach me wrong or piss me off). I grew up thinking that I wasn’t even important to my family which made me not even care about myself. That’s why I can get knee-ed in the face 15 times & come back for more. That’s why I can get my legs seriously hurt in a fight & still try to win. Thats why I can get my ribs broken in a fight & not tap out because my whole life I never thought I mattered to anybody or anybody cared about me. But now I have kids that love me & care about me & I’m not used to people caring about me but it feels good! I’m a very loyal person. Wolves are the most loyal animals on the planet. I was very loyal to the UFC, but now I owe all my loyalty to my kids… the ones who really care for me. The majority of my fights on the street I fought for free & they all were with emotion. I am a fighter, I will always be a fighter but my professional fights that were fought with emotion, I ended them all in devestating fashion. I am the wrong fighter that should fight pissed off professionally. I don’t even consider it fair. So Rashad says he will fight me for free. I will gladly meet him at any gym & fight him just to shut his mouth up. & I mean that for real!
“When I told Dana I did not want my belt back & that I just wanted to make money, it was around the time when they gave me Vanderlei & actually it was around the same time when my mind wasn’t right (my mind was at TRUCK status) & that’s the way I felt because I felt I had been robbed out of my belt. After the Jardine fight I did want my belt back because my family was so proud of me when I was champion & I want to make my family proud cause now I finally feel like my family cares about me & they accept me & this is what I’ve been wanting my whole childhood… for my family to like me. If I got to beat some ass for my family to like me, so be it. But now, I’m a grown man & I’ll be damned if anybody disrespects me. I’m not having it, it’s not happening!

by Riley on Sep 25, 2009 8:57 AM EDT reply actions
two things:
1. Rashad turnig down the Randy Couture fight because he feels it does nothing for him? Really? Come on now, fighting Couture should be an honor for Rashad and he feels that he would gain nothing? What is it with Rashad turnign fights down left and right? Initially turns down the Rampage fight in March now the Couture fight? Please, i mean no disrespect to Thiago Silva as he is one of my faves, but how can you want that fight instead of the Couture fight. How does a win over Thiago, which he wont get, up your status in the UFC as opposed to a win over Couture, which he wont get either.?
2. Its a sad day when it is a fact that Fedors fight on CBS probably wont get higher rating than Kimbos fights on CBS. A truly sad thing for MMA in my opinion.
