horsemeat is huge over there. it is a low quality protein though, and does not help with muscle growth like fish or eggs.

Horsemeat is quite “normal” in the Netherlands. and its just a kind of beef, nothign strange to it + The horses they Slaughter here die of old age (no breeding for consuming here)

I don’t get why anyone would want to eat a horse, they’re intelligent and loyal animals. Then again my family are horse lovers so to me it would be as disgusting as eating a dog. I can’t exactly judge others as I eat a lot of meat but something bothers me about eating animals that are kept as pets. Having said that Holland is a great country and I’d love to visit Amsterdam sometime, got to love a city with a legal Red Light District.

Alistair is a great striker, one of the best in MMA, but has always struggled in the big fights. Seeing how he has bulked up so much it looks very doubtful that he will fight in the US again, so if he ever does face Fedor it’ll be in Japan, I don’t buy into the 2010 SF fight especially after what his manager said about Fedor/M-1/SF.

I don’t see the advantage to eating horse meat, unless you are preparing an excuse to fail for equipoise. He says it has helped him to put on all of the muscle, but eggs, chicken, beef,(etc), all have better amino acid profiles. I would try horse meat if I was in a country that served it, but I certainly would not go out of my way to eat it.

Unlike kevin, there are things that I don’t need to try to know I would not like it. Gay sex for instance. haha

Very curious that you say he struggles in big fights. Are you sayin it’s a mental block thing or something else. The way i always figured the problem with Overeem brothers is:

Alistair – Imploding cardio + frontrunning (which i suspect was due to his massive weight cuts back in the day)

Valentijn – GNP allowed rules.

Now that he’s fighting at HW, his cardio issues seem to be gone. He hasn’t gassed once since moving up and this is a man we have seen implode up mid fight how many times. Now everyone can claim vitamin S about his bulkup but i’ve never heard of increasing cardio via roids. I’ve also never heard of adding muscle as a way to increase endurance. Fighters with a terrible track record in cardio can never seem to fix it regardless of how seasoned they are. Anyways Someone who knows about his this -tell what’s up? Is my logic flawed?

He’s using something else, one of the things he said back in the day was that it was impossible to beat the Chute Boxe guys ’cause they never gassed!… and when you look at those fights you see Overeem dominating the first couple of minutes and then gassing
