Adrenaline 4 results: Houston Alexander and Tim Sylvia get back in the win column

alexander_sylvia

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veterans Houston Alexander and former heavyweight champion, Tim Sylvia, were both in action last night (Sept. 18) at Adrenaline MMA IV at the Mid-America Center, Council Bluffs, Iowa, trying to turn out of three-fight losing skids.

Alexander got the first chance in the co main event against Sherman Pendergarst.

He opened the light heavyweight contest with devastating leg kicks. Pendergarst saw an opportunity for a shot and attempted a double leg takedown; however, Alexander sprawled and unleashed several more leg kicks.

The damage done by the leg kicks, as well as subsequent knees from within the clinch, sent Pendergarst crashing to the canvas. Alexander then cleaned up the mess he created with vicious ground and pound that led to a first round technical knockout stoppage.

Sylvia was up next against Jason Riley -- a very bright prospect who was out to make a name for himself off "The Maine-iac".

It didn't happen.

The first minute of the fight was essentially a "feeling out" phase with a punch or two followed by clinching with a few knees. When the two separated, Riley uncorked several nice punches that found their marks. Sylvia responded with an uppercut, followed by a hook, which connected to put Riley on the ground.

That was all it took.

First round technical knockout for Mr. Sylvia. But don’t expect to see him back in action anytime soon -- on the way out out of the cage he was overheard saying he broke his hand in the fight.

The show also featured an undercard of amateur fighters from the Midwest who were eager to make statements and get to the next level. Todd Meneely -- who may have turned in the most dominant performance of the night -- is certainly an up-and-comer to keep an eye on.

Here are the complete Adrenaline MMA 4 results:

Good to see Houston get the W. He’s a good guy and his fights are always exciting. Is he one dimensional? Yes. But it looks like he’s improving. Plus I gotta love that he represents the Cornhuskers.

Wow you really are “BeingManlyObsessed” I know you " BendMaleOrally", and you wish to be “ButtMauledOutrageously” but I suggest you to find someone else for your fantasy of “BallsMilkingOppressively”….little B

Seriously,I never did talked to you before and I never did insulted you(unless you did it first). What make you saying these gem? I’m trying to help you out, to learn something that your and your brain of “Periplaneta Americana”(look it up in the dictionary, it might be too hard to figuring out the definition when you’re laking intelligency) and you keep shooting yourself in the foot by coming at me with the lame “tranny” reference. Damn son, you got to be the dumbest peanut in a pile of turd. If I were a “tranny” , do you really think that I would have choose Alpha Male for screen name? lol, C’mon, eh. If you want to have a mature discussion one day on a MMA related topic, I will talk to you w/o insulting you, even if we have different opinion. I really don’t mind. If you still have nothing much more intelligent to say than “tranny”… well during your recreation time at your elementary school, find someone else with lower IQ than yours, for your name calling game. Believe me you never gonna win with a screen name with 3 letters. Too many possibilities with a name like that buddy.
“BehindMoistyOpen”, “BeingMenstruateOften”, “BigMasseuseOriental”… you get the point?

In regards to the Houston fight, Sherman didn’t shoot for a double leg, he fell to his knee after a leg kick. Sherman tried to grab him, but Houston just stepped back. Sherman didn’t do anything.

Yeah it was a joke, and people rip on Sylvia.

Atleast he fought someone who actually did something.

Alexander sucks.

He may have beaten Sherman, but Mr. Peabody is up next, and he’s pissed.

I was there, it was a pretty decent card. Timmy needs to drop some weight though. Houston fought a tin can, but it was always good seeing him back in action. The midwest fans want to see him rematch Chuck Parmele.
