Phillipe Nover vs. Sam Stout at UFC Fight Night 19 is off ...

... according to Dana White on his Twitter.com account:
"The Nover-Stout fight is off. Nover had a seizure in the locker room. He is OK.... Stout was very cool during the incident and is a class act!"

Looks like that fainting thing from TUF was serious.
by thetuf75 on Sep 16, 2009 4:50 PM EDT up reply actions
Yea or maybe it was more heat exhaustion from the warm up and now the commission is sayin hell no. That sucks-Nover is in a bad phase right now.
by NameNotRequired on Sep 16, 2009 5:42 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah, I am happy that they didnt allow him to fight. God forbid something happened, it would have been terrible. Better safe than sorry
by john G on Sep 17, 2009 9:56 AM EDT up reply actions
commission is correct in saying hell no. They don’t know what the cause is no need to risk some type of brain injury

Seizure could be brought on from dehydration, I hope that’s all it was.
by DAVE A on Sep 16, 2009 11:34 PM EDT up reply actions
WTF? A seizure Man that’s rough. Hope Nover gets well and gets back on the winning track. I guess they can’t replace him on 3 hours notice, though. Too bad for Stout.
by frosnt on Sep 16, 2009 4:51 PM EDT reply actions
Yeah, that sucks. Hope it’s not serious, and that he’s okay. Would have loved to watch this fight. Stout always puts on a good performance.
by LJ on Sep 16, 2009 5:26 PM EDT up reply actions
Doubtful. This seems to be a recurring thing and I bet it turns out to get worse the more he thinks about it, which he will now that everything went down like this. I hope he pulls through, but it doesn’t look good imo.
by Mahde on Sep 16, 2009 8:01 PM EDT up reply actions
that’s too bad, really wanted to see this one. would have been an exciting fight!
by bullsh*t on Sep 16, 2009 4:52 PM EDT reply actions
WEAK!!!! I wanted to see this fight! Damnit. Well I hope he gets well and they figure out what’s wrong.

Not if Amir Sadollah has anything to say about it.

Did Nover even win his season? TUFs 6-9 have all been so non-descript I can’t even remember who won any of them, who was on which show. Hell, they all suck.
by PW on Sep 16, 2009 5:15 PM EDT up reply actions
no he didnt he was hyped up to win but lost to ephrain escudero…basically got out-wrestled, somewhat lackluster fight.

The question I have will Sam Stout still get paid? I feel bad for Nover but at the same time this is a business and Sam upheld his end of things, so will he get paid?
by markie on Sep 16, 2009 4:58 PM EDT reply actions
he definitely should. I’m sure the UFC will give him something if not his full salary.
by frosnt on Sep 16, 2009 5:55 PM EDT up reply actions
lol… no fight, no cash… definitely not gonna get paid
by Ligger_Nyncher on Sep 16, 2009 6:56 PM EDT up reply actions
They will figure out something probably give him some percentage and then get him on a card quick
by staples on Sep 16, 2009 8:23 PM EDT up reply actions
Who is Pat D, and why never any props to me for these scoops?

By the time you read it on another site then posted it on MMAMANIA they were already getting the topic ready to put on the site.
by Puck Head on Sep 16, 2009 5:16 PM EDT up reply actions
meh…I posted this news twice on other threads about 1/2 hour before they posted this. Unless they are slow as hell at posting one Dana White quote and a picture…they got it our for me.

Nover/Stout is cancelled…Nover had a seizure backstage.
here is your post 3 minutes and a few seconds before the first comment on this post.

After 25 minutes of moderation…and deliberation.

LOL Not everybody is glued to their computer like you intro. Can you ever admit being wrong? Are you really Jerry Millen intro?

“After 25 minutes of moderation…and deliberation.”
lol.. they don’t change the time of your post, even if it’s stuck in mod for 25 minutes, it’s still going to show the correct time that you posted it; try again intro… wrong as usual.

Nover is done doubt and DR. will ever clear him for a licence unless he goes to japan!
by me on Sep 16, 2009 5:21 PM EDT reply actions
Man, that sucks. Would have been a good fight. I can’t imagine putting in all that work and then a few hours before the fight your told it’s off. that’s a lot of work down the drain…
by elotsip on Sep 16, 2009 5:41 PM EDT reply actions
Perhaps they can put Stout on UFC 103 undercard?
by frosnt on Sep 16, 2009 5:55 PM EDT up reply actions
Intro and Lester, how funny a fight got cancelled because one of the fighters had a seizure. Honestly that is shameful that you two even find something like that remotely funny.
by David W-S on Sep 16, 2009 5:44 PM EDT reply actions
I didn’t laugh at the seizure…I laughed at the joke.
by introvert on Sep 16, 2009 6:13 PM EDT up reply actions
What joke? All Lester did was laugh at Phillipe having a seizure and laughing along with him is just as bad. Nothing about this story is funny at all.
by David W-S on Sep 16, 2009 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions
sure it is, he is so scared to fight he faints everytime he remotely thinks about getting in the cage..
by shamo84 on Sep 16, 2009 7:10 PM EDT up reply actions
ok shamo ur a tough guy/ get in the octagon with a guy half as tough as nover. u have no idea what fighting is about if u talk shit.
by sean cain on Sep 16, 2009 7:52 PM EDT up reply actions
I don’t find a 25 year old mixed martial artist having a seizure funny at all, personally I think that you’re sick in the head if you find that sort of thing funny and you clearly have no respect for the wellbeing of the professional athletes that you are supposedly a fan of. Thankfully Phillipe is fine for the timebeing but that is no reason to laugh at something like this, would you be laughing if he was in a critical state or had died?
by David W-S on Sep 16, 2009 7:53 PM EDT up reply actions
Ovbiously not.
I just had a flashback to the tuf episode.
by Lester The Pimp on Sep 16, 2009 8:19 PM EDT up reply actions
“would you be laughing if he was in a critical state or had died?”
No I wouldn’t, but he isn’t in a critical state and he didn’t die, so I laughed…get over yourself you drama queen.

lol, yea no sh!t, he acts like he was there, breaking the news! All he does is read it on another site, take someone else’s journalism/work, post it here and then demand credit for it… What a tool…
by O damn he got caught on Sep 16, 2009 6:02 PM EDT reply actions
lmao. “read it on another site, take someone else’s journalism/work, post it here and then demand credit for it… What a tool…”
You’ve just summed up this entire website’s M.O. in one sentence.
by introvert on Sep 16, 2009 6:12 PM EDT up reply actions
Yea and then you go lower on the totem pole, to the guy that doesn’t know any of the fighters, have contacts in any of the camps or do any interviews… who can confirm nor deny anything on his own, that man is Introvert… the poster that gets the news 3rd hand like the rest of us and acts like he deserves a medal for it. Go sit and spin.
by O damn he got caught on Sep 16, 2009 9:49 PM EDT up reply actions
I guess every staff member from this site is a troll, because you just summed up their entire website.
by introvert on Sep 16, 2009 6:14 PM EDT up reply actions
Not always… They have original content such as interviews, and sometimes it’s MMAMANIA that reaches out to sources like fighter camps or managers for some info and posts an article.
by Mad A on Sep 16, 2009 6:30 PM EDT up reply actions
“Not always”
So what would you estimate…99%, 93%, 85% of the time they are using something other than original content?
by introvert on Sep 16, 2009 6:35 PM EDT up reply actions
Stupid comeback and question. Just leave it alone if that’s going to be your bullshit response.
by Adam T. on Sep 16, 2009 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions
I have surfed through most of the sites and this one is by far the best. They have the most news and articles wether direct from themselves are through out the net every story worth talking about usually makes it to mania and this site purpose is mainly to talk about subjects going on as well they have current post from Bloody Elbow, MMA for Real & watch kalib Run on the side of this site. I don’t bother surfing the net for news anymore because eventually It will be on this site or one of those three.

This guy must be epileptic… didn’t think an epileptic would ever be cleared to fight… imagine if he had a seizure in the cage
by Ligger_Nyncher on Sep 16, 2009 6:52 PM EDT reply actions
Probably didn’t know he was epileptic and is finding out now

Dana,
Get this fight on the undercard on Saturday!!! Surely Nover will be fine by then. If not, find someone for STOUT!!!!!
by roberto on Sep 16, 2009 7:26 PM EDT reply actions
Good idea but it’s doubtful that Nover will get licensed to fight in time for Saturday, it could be difficult for him to get a license to fight period because of this.
by David W-S on Sep 16, 2009 7:47 PM EDT up reply actions
nover is a bust? i love the people that talk shit on their computer. u couldn’t hold my mans jock. get urself in that type of position and then talk shit.
by sean cain on Sep 16, 2009 7:49 PM EDT reply actions
I never believed Phillipe Nover was a good fighter. I knew Efrain Escudero was going to exposed him for hype job that he is. Then, Phillipe Nover was knocked out cold by Kyle Bradley.
