7 is a bad time for eveyone I think….good solid card, I like Rich but this could turn out to be a boring fight with Rich outboxing Vitor….I really like both guys though, so I’m hoping different

rich outboxing vitor WOW!!! even wandy was hitting franklin with solid shots, franklins dead
by Jared on Sep 16, 2009 7:34 AM EDT up reply actions
Franklin won’t be able to stand up after 2 of Vitors shots. Dan punches like a girl compared to Belfort.

It’s not about power either, Vitor has the speed and the technique his boxing is better than Franklin, and most importantly he moves very well
by RoBerto on Sep 16, 2009 10:27 AM EDT up reply actions
Also, Vitor has Randy and his master plans in his corner which is needed against such a cerebral fighter like Franklin. I also think that vitor place is in a great place mentally RIGHT NOW, and with Vitor, that has always been the only issue. When is head is right, he usually wins, and wins impressively.
Vitor is the superior boxer. He has faster hands. Is more technical, accurate, and generates a ton more powerr then Rich does. Overall he is just the better and more explosive athlete.
wrestling: Both have improved tremendously in this department, but I doubt it will play any kind of a role in this fight. Both fighters will opt to keep this fight standing.
Ground: lIke wretsling, it shouldnt play a role in this fight. I dont thinkk either fighter is capable of submitting the other, but if he choses, Vitor could do a ton of damage with that blackbelt!

Yeah, he did so poorly in the OWGP….Yeah he never has had success against the heavies…great logic there.

The HW division has gotten a lot bigger since Cro Cop was near the top. Not to mention that the real monsters like Brock and Carwin are all great wrestlers, and CroCop is not exactly a BJJ whiz, so he will be in big trouble on his back. I like CroCop, but I don’t think he will ever hold a title.

I’m with u on this 1 NS, I’d like to see a mentally tough Cro-cop at 205lbs, it was soooo’ obvious the size difference between Cro-cop and Kongo… Kongo out muscled him on the ground n’ clinch and tired Cro-cop out. AT 205lbs Cro-cop’s power and heavy quick hands will give us the best Cro-cop has.
by DAVE A on Sep 16, 2009 2:51 AM EDT up reply actions
cro cop in his prime had no problems with huge wrestlers, watch the waterman fight, cro cop fought adversity and would do the same with lesnar and carwin
by Jared on Sep 16, 2009 7:41 AM EDT up reply actions
Don’t compare Waterman to Brock or Shane. Cro Cop would get dropped on his head against either of those guys.

Anyone fed up of seeing and hearing from JdS about his fight with CC – there’s been about 15 pre-fight interviews with him? Oh well, at least they will serve to remind ppl of what he looks like after CC KOs him to obscurity. Believe in the old Pride warriors fickle MMA fans – Shogun, Big Nog and CC are back!
by jayshogun on Sep 15, 2009 7:45 PM EDT reply actions
I agree. There is too much hype around Jds. I don’t think he’ll live up to it, but we’ll see what happens.

Pride is dead. And only Minotauro is back mind you… ;)
by Syd on Sep 16, 2009 12:43 AM EDT up reply actions
True, so far I can only say Big Nog has looked good out of those 3, and really only his fight with Randy was truly impressive. Shogun is a maybe, but he only beat a shell of the man we once knew as “The Iceman”.

Off topic but I never understood that saying…don’t meteors fall? Anyway I think Junior’s overestimating his standup game after the Werdum KO. Cro Cop should be a good test to see if he’s legit with it.

Am I the only one who hates the term “meteoric rise”? Goldberg says it every UFC event about someone. Not only does Goldie use the saying too much, but it doesn’t even make sense…meteors don’t rise, they fall. Get it right Goldie…and MMAmania.

this overhyped and overrated ignorant punk will be LHK’d to oblivion…lets send this kid back to earth
war crocop!

I would really like to see Cro Cop pull this off but I just don’t think he’ll be able to do it. JDS by 2nd round stoppage.

Once again a Cro Cop related topic and some dick has to mention how he’d be better off at 205.
How long before people stop bringing up something that’s never going to happen?
It’s a pointless throw away comment that’s made by someone looking for a yeah you’re right I agree reply.
Message boards and blogs are suppose to be for comments that add something to the topic. Not for people looking for encouragement.

Santos’ confidence is high and Cro-Cop is ready to prove himself…whomever wins aims to win big…and deserves that victory.
With that said, Cro-Cop I feel, deserves more credit and respect than he’s been receiving. He’s encountered lots of mental and physical speed bumps. People shouldn’t underestimate the caliber of fighter Cro-Cop can be. When he’s on, he is a very dangerous fighter whom contains every skill it would take to win.
Additionally, Santos has fast and very powerful hands. I see Cro-Cop keeping the distance and taking Santos out of his element. But if Santos initiates the clinch, I see a huge flurry of punches from Santos for the TKO.
I’m so stoked for this fight!

THE key to this fight is going to be CRo COp’s movement. Can he use the same movement that he used on pride to circle opponents when he was backed into a corner to set up that high kick.. I havent seen it in the UFC as of yet.

Perfect scenario for Crocop is when Dos Santos goes for that right uppercut and ducks his head down a little and Crocop comes in with the left leg kick. Fight’s over! Let’s see if Crocop still has good reflexes and killer instincts.
