Two-time United States Olympic wrestler and former NCAA Division I national championship runner-up Daniel Cormier will make his mixed martial arts debut against fellow newcomer Gary Frazier at the Strikeforce Challengers event from the SpiritBank Event Center in Bixby, Okla., on Sept. 25, according to MMA Fanhouse.
The Showtime card will feature a main event of Strikeforce and IFL veteran Tim Kennedy (10-2) vs. the undefeated Zak Cummings (10-0).
Cormier trains at the famed American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) alongside Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh "The Punk" Thomson and UFC welterweights Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch, among others.
Frazier -- also a wrestler -- is a two-time state champion out of Oklahoma as well as a college football player at Oklahoma A&M. He won his amateur MMA debut via first-round TKO (cut) against Jessie Sinks back in June.
