first. and i don’t want to see machida and anderson fight, it will be boring and even if it’s a good fight and either gets ko’ed i will cry myself to sleep. anderson should be allowed to clear out divisions without contending for a title, HE IS GOD.

God is God. Anderson Silva is a Brazilian MMA fighter competing in the UFC.
by mike on Sep 12, 2009 11:41 PM EDT up reply actions
No, Anderson Silva IS the nearest thing to a god.
by UK_Chris on Sep 13, 2009 6:48 AM EDT up reply actions
I think God would KO Silva in the first round.

Anderson vs. Machida will never HAPPEN, NOR DO i WANT IT TO HAPPEN! If the UFC did force them to fight, neither would go hard at the other. It would be a glorified exhibition match similar to Fedor/Mousasi, and NO fan should have to pay for a fight between 2 fighters that arent going at each other full force.
These guys are human beings, and with humans, emotions often get in the way. These 2 really dont want to fight each other, so let them be. Anderson only has about 3 fights left on his deal. THere are plenty of dream fights involving him without forcing him to fight his “brother”. Why try to force anderson to fight lyoto when he can be fighting:
Rashad
Rampage
winner of Hendo/Nate
Vitor
Couture
Mir
Vera
Cro Cop
Wanderlei
Shogun
Thiago Silva
I just listed 10 interesting fights for Anderson, and he only has about 3 fights left. No point in trying to force a fight with Lyoto!

agreed. BTW John i posted a reply to your comment about judging on the thread about Alan Belcher if you’re interested.

maybe I’m crazy, but take away the F bomb every other word and Dana comes off pretty well!

Wow, thanks for clearing that up Mike. Lots of us were getting confused….. I hate to but just cannot resist, but …….. we’re is your proof Silva isn’t god(said with silly grin on face)>

I think God gasses too easily and tends to drop his hands. Silva would KO him for sure. Zeus on the other hand is an unreal 205er with a ground game on par with GSP’s. I think he may be the one to dethrone AS.

First of all three fights a month seems like alot were in crisis not all people gonna be able to pay for the ppv it will get it out there more but not many people will b able to
by Elmatador1990 on Sep 12, 2009 11:53 PM EDT reply actions
I think he means 3 events, not necessarily 3 ppv’s. My guess is the stick with roughly 12 ppv’s per year, having the occasional odd month with 2 depending on how the dates fall. It sounds to me like they are planning things like more fight nights, or other televised events. Sounds almost like gearing up for events on some other network.
by MongoMan on Sep 13, 2009 12:03 AM EDT up reply actions
He’s said before (102 post conference?) that they want to do 1 on PPV, 1 on Spike and 1 elsewhere. I don’t think Dana could give a bigger hint about gearing up for events on another network. Dana has a problem with letting things slip before he actually has a deal though. We’ll see if it actually happens.
by prokstar on Sep 13, 2009 8:55 AM EDT up reply actions
I thought he said in the past he would like to put shows on ABC, NBC, or CBS. I don’t remember witch one. I wouldn’t rule out ESPN eather.
by iagoof22 on Sep 13, 2009 9:16 AM EDT up reply actions
i agree. though i love to watch, my wallet determines if i watch a fight or not. 3 ppv in a month is a lot. Hopefully, one of them is a freebee, ie., Utimate Fight Night?
by blackBEERd on Sep 13, 2009 12:37 AM EDT up reply actions
I think the point is that if they’re having 3 events per month it is because they’ll be on broadcast tv. There’s no way Zuffa would expect the same amount of people to purchase PPVs if there are 3 of them monthly.
by Mike the giant on Sep 13, 2009 1:06 AM EDT up reply actions
3 fights a month will happen after the WEC and UFC Merge. Expect more headliners coming from the likes of Torres, Faber etc.. Just cause there will be 3 events a month doesn’t mean they are going to be 3 PPV’s… UFC fight nights etc. Besides all that Dana said some months have 3 events, not all of them.
Continue to grow UFC and come to Australia already!!!

Anderson is not too big for GSP. GSP is a beast at ww and Anderson is just an average sized mw who originally fought at ww. They could find a weight class to fight at and I’m confident GSP would take him down and hold him there.
p.s. BRING THE UFC TO INDIANAPOLIS!
by Jared on Sep 13, 2009 12:16 AM EDT reply actions
Yeah, Anderson is like 4 inches taller than GSP. And he didn’t give up hardly any size to Forest, one of the biggest LHW’s.
by Miketsi on Sep 13, 2009 3:04 AM EDT up reply actions
No way. GSP is freakishly strong for a WW, but not freakishly large. Alves was noticably bigger. like Miketsi said, Anderson was eye-to-eye and p4p with Forrest. When a fighter is that perfect with his striking, you don’t want to add to that having him fight a guy with a huge reach disadvantage. Silva is 4-5 inches taller and has freakishly long limbs for his height. Silva wants to fight 250 pounders. What would it prove for him to beat up on smaller guys?

Yeah Vancouver baby!!!
When I went down to Portland for UFC 102, I met A LOT of people from BC, in the arena, at the bars, our hotel, everywhere! i cant wait!
by Albow on Sep 13, 2009 12:25 AM EDT reply actions
Being from BC I can guarantee it would sell out.
Almost everyone I know is a fan in my age group(mid 20s).
For some reason MMA in Canada is more popular per capita than pretty much anywhere.
Reminds me of an oldschool quote.. “If World Wars were decided in bar fights, Canada would be a world superpower.”

Being from Alberta, If the UFC comes to Vancouver I am going for a road trip for sure!
There is no way in hell I would miss that!!

OLD OLD INTERVIEW. Obviously happened before couture even fought. Also Silva will NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER (dont even know how many times i have to type NEVER) fight machida. No amount of money will make this fight happen. Hell…..lets just say that pigs are flying and its snowing in california and Machida fights Anderson. All you will see is an “exhibition fight” similar to the latest Mousasi vs. Fedor exhibiton. Im not trying to be a downer and give anyones hopes up but it just wont happen. Would I like to see Machida and Anderson hate eachother and actually have a badass MMA battle of whos the best??? HELL YEAH!!! Unfortunately i will never give my hopes up because this will never happen.
by UFC LOVA on Sep 13, 2009 1:18 AM EDT reply actions
It can’t be that old because he was talking about the Rogers-Fedor fight.
by DirtyML on Sep 13, 2009 2:47 AM EDT up reply actions
Well this fight might just happen then. First off it does snow in California. Second…hell I can make a pig fly, the landing will make a hell of a mess. But flying shouldn’t be a problem.
by MongoMan on Sep 13, 2009 2:51 AM EDT up reply actions
Also he was talking about Rampage doing the movie so this is obviously fairly new within the last few days.
I don’t know how you thought this was old, I’d imagine you only got through the first 2-3 minutes before your A.D.D started acting up and you just started clicking through all your bookmarks in your web browser, updating web pages you updated only 10 minutes ago.
by DirtyML on Sep 13, 2009 3:03 AM EDT up reply actions
I can not wait until Shogun beats Machida and gets back to the number one ranking and tears through the LHW’s …
by DownUnder on Sep 13, 2009 2:56 AM EDT reply actions
I don’t know what DownUnder is talking about. Have you seen Shoguns and Machidas last few fights. Shogun will lose. I won’t say he doesn’t have a chance, because everyone in the UFC are contenders, but I don’t see it happening. Machida vs. Silva would be awesome, and a great fight, not boring at all. I don’t think it will happen either though, only thing Silva has to do is quit fighting at 205.
by E. Fairway on Sep 13, 2009 9:51 AM EDT reply actions
some pretty wierd mma fans…..
Silva/ Machida would be the fight of the century
better than BJ/ Gsp.
Way more technical than Fedor/ Lesner
by BudsyKind on Sep 13, 2009 4:27 PM EDT reply actions
wake up machida is the only guy that can beat him and you listed 10 fights for anderson but he only has 3 fights left in the ufc i know i will be pissed if anderson beats hendo and marquart then maybe mir or randy and leaves the ufc for good. I know they are friends but this is history right here both future legends and HOF both at the top of their games dana should pay whatever they want. I would fight any of my mates for half a mill and we would both laugh all the way to the bank. Unless silva is just kissing machida’s crease because he knows machida can beat him.
by THE ROAD WARRIOR noo nooow we go in! we go in! we kill them! on Sep 13, 2009 4:43 PM EDT reply actions
funny how dana discredits brett rogers as not being a top fighter but carwin is ranked lower
by bigsmoke on Sep 13, 2009 5:06 PM EDT reply actions
I don’t know what makes so many people on here think they’re qualified to say what Anderson/Machida will NEVER NEVER do. Considering the fact that Dana pretty much owns these guys and has proven that the UFC’s exclusivity contracts are unbreakable (ask Randy Couture) these guys can either fight who he tells them to fight or retire from the sport. Neither of them are big enough money-drawers to be making any stipulations.
Remember when Tito refused to fight Chuck claiming it was because of their friendship. Tito was the biggest PPV draw in the UFC at the time and Dana still wasn’t putting up with that crap and basically just sidestepped him and had Chuck fight Randy for the belt giving Tito the ultimatum to get his act together or get out. I don’t think Machida and Anderson combined draw the kind of numbers Tito did and both their divisions would actually be more interesting without an unbeatable champion that makes all title fights a foregone conclusion. They’re in no position to be stipulating who they will or won’t fight and Dana has them under contract so he’s got no reason to put up with their crap. Like he said, this is a sport. Did Jordan refuse or Magic refuse to play against their old teammates and coaches? It’s rediculous.

I think the three shows a month are going to be.
Possibly UK and US fight nights, or maybe the third will be a grappling tournament televised on spike or something.
