Nate Quarry: 'You don't become a legend by winning decisions'

Props: MMA Fanhouse
Quoteworthy:
You don't become a legend by winning decisions. That's what fans want to see, that's what gets you bonuses, that's what feeds my family. I've seen a lot of fighters stay in the UFC with losing records because they were such exciting fighters who put it on line. I think that's what fans pay to see, want to see and relate to. On any given day, I'm going to bring the best game I possibly have. At least I can say, 'Win or lose, I did the best I could. What else I could have done?' That allows me to sleep at night.
Former TUF star Nate Quarry discusses his upcoming middleweight bout against "Crazy" Tim Credeur at UFC Fight Night 19 from the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Sept. 16. "The Rock" will be out to notch his second straight win inside the Octagon after bouncing Jason MacDonald out of the promotion via TKO at UFC 97 back in April. It was his third win in four attempts since returning from major back surgery. The power-puncher hasn't been to a decision since Kalib Starnes' Parkour-inspired performance at UFC 83 -- and makes no qualms about putting it all on the line once again next Wednesday.

You also don’t become a legend by being Nate Quarry…
Ohhhh BUTT SLAMMED! j/k it was to easy of shot to take but I had to.
He is right though, we want to see exciting fights and I agree with Dana that I would rather see someone fight and lose than not fight and win!

im sure he sleep like a baby when rich franklin cracked him in his title fight. on eof the biggest mismatched title fights in ufc history probably. that highlite is always fun to watch, im pulling for credeur in this fite, he’s got more upside.

Nonsense Jared, Quarry is a helluva fighter with great stand-up, awesome conditioning, good power, and he is in good with the UFC!
He’ll be around!

I have to agree. And the dude is and is willing to take risks. MMA would be so much better if all the fighters had a similar mentality.

I agree 100%. Coming back after back surgery and putting on that amazing fight with Pete Sell shows what sort of heart he has especially after being knocked down and taking the punishment he did. Leban and Quarry made that a night to remember. The guy is a true warrior, so what if he got knocked out by Franklin. Franklin was one of the best in the division at that point, no shame in that.

He’s right about the excitement part, look at Tank Abbott’s record. He’s 10-14-0 in MMA, but only 2 decisions.

The way Franklin KO’d Quarry. Now that was Legendary.

Truth is though, Nate can easily drop anybody in his division! The guys hans are great! He just got caught by Rich before he could catch him. He is right! And I would love to see him fight again!

I haven’t got a bad word to say about Nate, he’s a nice guy and shows respect to his opponents whilst at the same time he has great skills and looks to put on exciting fights. I also like Tim but Nate should be too much for him at this stage, I’m expecting a Quarry KO in R2.
