Me too, thought his last fight and his fight with Edgar were both awesome.

Same here. I even kinda liked his fight with No Love. Great half guard there. I just wish he was slightly more active in passing but hey clementi knows what’s up.

I never really stopped to think about it….but there is a lot of talent in the lightweight division it is a pretty deep division

NNR: Thnkin’ the same thing about the Clementi fight. Rich C is a wily vet, but MAynard just used brute strength! Really looks unfair, especially when you see Lesnar doin’ it.

He is boring but improving and a powerful guy. He’s a formidable opponent for anyone. Am I excited about watching him- no.
Huerta’s not doing any press at all huh? Methinks he may be a little bitter.

wow, I can 100% guarantee that that’s not John G.!
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Maynard by decision!

The only way the fight is exciting is if Huerta makes it exciting and doesn’t get smothered (which won’t happen). Maynard is like Guida in that way. The fight is as great as his opponent can bring it to him and neutralize him strengths.

exactly DSmith!….. Huerta “the king of errything” for the win!

is maynards game plan to try and kiss huerta and ruin his hollywood career?
by brendan on Sep 11, 2009 1:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Huerta’s probably not being asked to do press on this as it’s very likely his last fight in the UFC. I think the goal here is to send the guy packing on a loss.
by O damn he got caught on Sep 11, 2009 1:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I guess he is.. he probably doesn’t want anything to do with the UFC
by RoBerto on Sep 11, 2009 1:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
of course he is O damn, he is the biggest name on this card by far..
by RoBerto on Sep 11, 2009 1:51 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
cmon Roberto, “the biggest name on this card?” did you forget Nate Diaz is fighting? like him or not, he’s a bigger name, not to mention the “newwer” fans that will be tuning in to see kimbo’s episode after have never heard of Roger Huerta! He’s very forgettable, hence the reason the UFC didn’t offer him a boat load of money or care that he’s leaving!
by kevin on Sep 11, 2009 1:53 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
by the way, Nate Quarry or Carlos Condit are bigger names IMO!
by kevin on Sep 11, 2009 1:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yea but the UFC doesn’t want him to win + get all this press; then leave and take a boat load of cash for fighting somewhere else.

I got a serious question for all the regulars who have fallen victim to the screen name bandit (John G. now, I know it’s not him busting OJR with racist comments).
Who here thinks it’s time for mania to switch to a username/password type system? i for one think it would cut out some of the B.S. by making guys always use real screen names!
by kevin on Sep 11, 2009 2:20 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I disagree kevin, I think Nate Diaz is fading quickly.. Nate Quarry has already fallen off the planet years ago IMO, Condit might be known to the hardcore fan but not the casual.. say whatever you want, Huerta has the potential of becoming a star the other guys could never be
by RoBerto on Sep 11, 2009 3:03 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
And Agreed Roberto- Nate Q is never healthy/hardly fights. Historically Huerta has more exciting fights than Nate D and therefore would put more butts in seats than Nate.
by DSmith on Sep 11, 2009 3:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I’m not saying he’s not more exciting than Nate, i’m saying who is more “well known.” neither is, but go ask an average fan who nate is and who huerta is, I bet a dime to a dollar they know Diaz!
by kevin on Sep 11, 2009 3:55 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Huerta’s very well known and could have had an outstanding career but he let the hype get to his head and became too greedy to the extent that he no longer wants to be a MMAst. This fight is a blatant attempt by the UFC to send him out in as dominant and boring a defeat as possible, partly to humble him and partly to kill his drawing power. Waste of a great talent and personality in my opinion.

Ditto for the petition Kev. Username/password based system, UNITE!!
by The Negation on Sep 11, 2009 7:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Huerta was more wellknown for as long he was in the UFC, the kid was one of the biggest names in the UFC’s LW division without a doubt, bigger than Florian..

Wow dude, get Huerta’s nuts out of you’re mouth. You’re like obsessed with the guy.

I really hope Huerta lands a big knee when Maynard moves in for the Lay n Gray like he did to counter the Clay n Pray.

agreed, as much as i dislike huerta for being a wanna be hollywood pretty boy, i dislike maynard more for giving us 5 or 6 of the most boring fights in ufc history
by brendan on Sep 11, 2009 1:47 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
You crack on Roger for going Hollywood but do you even know why? He did not sign the multiple fight contract the ufc offered him because the contract stated they would own 100% rights to his name. Would you sign a contract like that? I sure wouldn’t. That means if he writes a book on his life he gets none of the proceeds. That does not sound very fair to me and anyone with any business, which Roger has, would not sign that. So just because a multiple fight contract was offered does not mean it was a good contract.
by E on Sep 11, 2009 2:13 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
no it doesn’t men that! WWE owns all their fighters likeness including “names.” Do you know what “the Rock” did… went up to Vince Mcmahon and said, “can I use the name in movies and make money off it.” He said yes. Get a clue before you try to sound intelligent, the likeness is for the video game only, people can write a book about their lives (Forrest, Hughes, Chuck need I go on) and it’s their book, the whole likeness contract was strictly fo EA sports. Like Roger fucking Huerta is gonna be even talked about or mentioned in a movie or video game role without the UFC!
by kevin on Sep 11, 2009 2:17 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That may be true about WWE but it is not in Roger’s case. And no, it was not for the video game only. Although you sound like you know what you are talking about you do not.

Haha! And he said it was “cold-sores”? F8ck that! I really like Huerta to win this one. Go El Matador! Knock Gray’s cold sores out and let the puss and blood ooze and mix!

He looks like the little brother from Malcolm in the Middle… with herpes.

I think Maynard has this fight won. He seems more focused with his mind in the right place than Huerta. I would hate to see his undefeated streak get ruined too.
