A lightweight tilt between Gesias Cavalcante (14-3-1) and Daisuke Nakamura (20-10) has been added to the upcoming DREAM 11 event from the Yokohama Arena in Kanagawa, Japan on Oct. 6.
Cavalcante looks to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Tatsuya Kawajiri at DREAM 9. A two-time K-1 Hero's champion, "JZ" has run into a rough patch as of late.
After incurring a decision loss to Shinya Aoki in the preliminary round of the Lightweight Grand Prix, he was forced to undergo surgery. Upon his scheduled return to competition on New Year's Eve last year, he experienced an unexpected and demoralizing mishap.
His opponent, DREAM Lightweight champion Joachim Hansen, had to seek medical attention for an accidental head injury during his last-minute training and the bout was scratched less than 24 hours before the event.
Finally, at DREAM 9, he made his long-awaited return to competition after a year-long hiatus; however, his return to the winning column was foiled by Kawajiri.
Daisuke Nakamura, a PRIDE/Cage Rage/M-1 veteran, returns to DREAM on the heels of a decision victory over Ferrid Kheder at M-1 Global: Breakthrough. The submission artist from U-File Camp suffered a
hard-fought decision loss to Mitsuhiro Ishida in his last DREAM appearance
at DREAM 7.
His recent victory at M-1Global has restored him to his winning ways after having his eight-fight winning streak snapped by Ishida. Now he looks for a big win against a top-caliber lightweight in Cavalcante.
DREAM 11 features the semifinal rounds of Super Hulk Tournament (sans Gegard Mousasi) and Featherweight Grand Prix, as well as a Lightweight title/rubber match between Joachim Hansen and Shinya Aoki.
