only way I want to see Tito fight is when he is fighting someone better then him…If not it will just be monotoneous! Take opponent down, sit in his guard without attempting to pass, and drop elbows….thats basically a TIto fight in a nutshell.
Now if Tito faces a better opponent, like he did when he fought Machida, he is forced to display more mma skills. If Tito passed guard, went for submissions…tried a little clinch fighting, I would probably like the guy. But when you only use 3 mma techniques in your entire career, I just dont get excited to see him fight!
Regardless of if I like Tito or not…I want the UFC to be a real sport, so I want to see all the best fighters in the UFC.
What pisses me off about Tito signing with the UFC is that NOW, I wont get to see MOusasi beat the Fock out of him in SF!

Tito does tons of clinch fighting, have you not been watching his fights? infact I’ve never seen Tito lose a fight in the clinch (that is when he’s throwing strikes and not wrestling) he’s good in the clinch.. what’s good about Tito is also that he worries about hurting his opponent and cause damage, rather than be silly and try to pass guard and mess around like an idiot..

don’t bother Roberto, he hates Tito. Tito is one of the few guys that does damage inside guard, one of the few guys that doesn’t need to pass to inflict pain and damage. I’m not a die hard tito fan by any means, but he’s accomplished a lot in the sport and I for one believe him when he says he’ll be at 100% and will perform better now that he’s had surgery!

agreed. I like tito too… he does talk a lot but he keeps it entertaining and hope to see him in some exciting fights soon!

Tito said the best thing in that clip. “The best fighters are in the UFC, that’s where I want to be”. He should have told Fedor that too while he was hanging around SF.
FU all you Fedor huggers, FU! Even Tito knows. As I type this I realize Fedor knows it too, that’s why he’s at SF.
Ahhh, that felt good. Nite all.

Well at least you put the word “has” twice. Any comedian would studder while saying such a lame joke. Well played.

I am not hating on Tito but World champ aspirations I think is a little much. The current champ avoided being hit by Tito all together which is a wowing and Tito also proved himself wrong so its a draw lol.

Minus the fact that Tito almost finished him with a triangle in the third. And still remains to be the best challenge Machida has had yet.
by DirtyML on Sep 1, 2009 10:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think just because he lasted the distance with Machida doesn’t really mean much….so did like 8 other people including BJ Penn the lightweight…Tito slapped on a good triangle in the 3rd which looked tight, but Machida got out of it before the bell rang so he wouldn’t have been submitted anyway. Plus, lets not let Tito’s last second triangle attempt overshadow the big takedwon and GnP Machida did from half gaurd that almost finished Tito in the first, and then dropped him in the 3rd with a body kick I think it was?
With all that said I’m glad Tito is back in the UFC, if anything it will make for some interesting fights. I’d like to see him face Rashad or Forrest again, but more so Rashad since their first fight was a draw.

I agree with being glad Tito is back and it was a Knee that got him in the belly. I also agree that wit tito’s years in MMA I bet he can do a solid arm bar, triangle and a few chokes very proficiently so don’t be alarmed because Machida got out of the situation just don’t look for Tito to even attempt a submission with the suffix “plata” attached to it lol.
by Edgecrusher71 on Sep 2, 2009 12:46 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, what he said.
You’ve got to admit though, had he held on to that triangle it would’ve been epic.

It would, I was f’in jumping through the roof.. too bad he tried to change for an armbar
by RoBerto on Sep 2, 2009 2:40 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Look he wasn’t a “challenge” until the final 30 seconds when he had a miracle submission attempt that was only possible because it was totally unexpected. Do you honestly think Machida would ever get caught in another Ortiz sub?
by frosnt on Sep 1, 2009 11:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
listen, rewatch the fight and you will see that Tito was winning the 3rd round clearly up until Machida landed a knee, but then Tito got back and locked in the triangle, so it was actually “Tito time” for most of the last round and had it gone further like a title fight would’ve it would have been classic!..
I think that was my fave fight of 09, just because of Tito’s fans and the whole atmosphere that always comes on when he fights, and ofc that it meant so extremely much made it better..

“UFCs Dana White” — opposed to which other one?

I really hope Coleman somehow pulls out the W.
Tito says “there’s no way I’d go back to the UFC”…unless they ask him to?? He’s full of it. I hope Tito gets KO’d by Coleman.

so you think someone would go to a place where they don’t want him? you have zero business sense buddy. Tito is the brand, so the UFC had to show some interest and they did.
just watch the negotiations between all players/football clubs and you’ll learn

Love Tito back in the UFC! Was that BJ Penn sitting on the other end of the table?

The Ortiz/Machida fight was one of the most one-sided fights that I have ever seen. Tito looked like a kid from high school that had never been in a fight before. Tito sucks at standup and the chances of him taking Machida down are 1 in 3 million. (Watch the fight and see what happened when he tried to shoot, he got put right on his ass thanks to some sumo training) If they fought 10 times, Tito loses 10 times.
Had Travis Lutter pounded out Anderson Silva when he had full mount would have been epic too. But he didn’t. Just like Tito didn’t finish that triangle.

I always thought Tito was a knob, until i saw the UFC series with ken shamrock, Ken now has the crown. Welcome back tito.

Tito is a liar. What is all this shit about UFC exploiting fighters and how he is standing up for all the little guys. Well, UFC is still exploiting people. And guess what? Tito realized his true market value after he left the UFC. He will not get $800k per fight contracts with Strikeforce, Affliction, or any other organization. They know he is overvalued and would require a lot of beefing up before even breaking even with him.
If he went to Strikeforce, these are the salary figures:
Tito ($800k) vs Babalu: 1/2 and 1/2 chance of Tito winning
Tito ($900k) vs Shamrock: 88% of Tito winning
Tito ($1M) vs Mousasi: Tito would get killed.
Bottomline, Tito would be making close to $3million per fight and Strikeforce would no reap profits anywhere close to that. Tito is worth 1/3 of what he thinks he is worth.
So he went back to the UFC. Will probably get paid $400k per fight. Will lose to Shogun, Rampage, or Machida. But these are top fighters and Tito could always come up with an excuse. "Oh..they beat me by points…oh…i wasn’t 100% ready…Oh..my elbow hurts…Oh…I am just a businessman..Oh..I was never an elite collegiate wrestler like Coleman, Brock, or Randleman…Oh…I am a liar…Oh.. I divorced my wife to be with Jenna the Pornstar…Oh…my life is ruined…oh…I love dana white…he is my new best friend..
Tito knows what he is doing. But I just don’t buy all this shit about him being a top level fighter..who deserves $400k per fight.
