UFC Quick Quote: Keith Jardine ready to 'bang, bang, bang' with Thiago Silva

"I’m expecting a full war. On our feet, on the ground, in the clinch … Because that’s Thiago’s style, and Keith is never afraid to mix it up. I think it’s gonna be bang, bang, bang.... [Thiago] has a great chin, he can take a hard shot. He’s very crafty on his feet and very crafty on the ground as well. He’s got a lot of heart and he’s got a lot of determination."
-- UFC light heavyweight Keith Jardine’s trainer, Greg Jackson, discusses (via Las Vegas Sun) what he expects to see when his student enters the cage against the 13-1 American Top Team product, Thiago Silva, tomorrow night at UFC 102 from the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon. Both Jardine and Silva are looking to bounce back from recent losses — Jardine to Quinton "Rampage" Jackson at UFC 96, and Silva to reigning division kingpin Lyoto Machida at UFC 94 — to get back in the mix of things in the stacked light heavyweight division. So how do you think this fight ends? By (T)KO, submission or the judges’ scorecards? Let’s hear what you think below.

I’m not surprised…he took out an 9 foot beetle once by doing a 720 spin kick…true story…it was on TV so it had to be true.

Only if it was on Fox it is “really” true ;o))

I think the picture is deceiving by the way they are standing.

Yeah, I don’t think Thiago is any bigger. Keith is actually an inch taller.
by Jeremyjackson on Aug 28, 2009 5:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, and Keith can pack ‘em goat muscles and body fat! He ain’t a tiny 205er either…
by Syd on Aug 28, 2009 5:47 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Keith is tiny, his physique is horrible. He’s all soft and weak he was half as big as Wanderlei was.

I think Jardine is going to be destroyed. A preview of this fight is when Jardine fought Wandy. They have the same style and I would say Thiago is stonger. I’m going to be there and can’t wait for this fight.

No doubt. I’m all about the legs/a$$. I could care less about the boobies, just so long as they’re real.

Haha JJ, we always get stick for our teeth but they’re a lot nicer than we get credit for. Sure some people have awful looking teeth and they’re not as white as North American’s but we don’t use as much whitening and as long as you brush and floss regularly then you should have healthy teeth.
As for the pale comment, well I can’t exactly talk I’m a typical pale English lad. In fact I’m always the one getting stick from the lads and ladies for not getting a tan.

Lol thread # 1,000 on this! Jk but man I have been doing a lot of arguing about this fight and looks like I’m still not in the clear! :)
Anyways it is a VERY tough fight to predict the outcome of with any extreme confidence. (I think impossible with extreme confidence). But definitely pulling for Jardine.
All I’m arguing is the lack of respect or questioning of talent that Dean always seems to receive.
He’s only been in UFC relatively short time. And only fought legit fighters (yes even houston was thought to be at the time). His resume speaks for itself.
He may not win every1 over or every fight, but i’d argue most lhw’s would have a tough time having a tremendous record against who he’s fought. And with as lil cage experience as he’d had.
I don’t feel thiago is extremely over rated as he is 13-1 but I do feel his previous opponents weren’t same caliber as keiths.
I just don’t like the unnecessary hate for the man. He’s entertaining and they both have a great chance @ KOTN
Go Dean

Nice match up….Thiago Silva for sure. I like Jardine…but Silva ground game is more effective.

jardine is definitely not a consistant fighter in the win departmant..
but he does consistantly win/lose/win/lose..
he is coming off a loss, so i have to take jardine!~
should be close and unpredictable..

After Jardine loses this one it’s almost a guarantee that Greg Jackson makes a vblog or does an interview trying to take all the blame for his fighters performance.
“It wasn’t Keith, it was the way I communicated the gameplan to him. I’m entirely to blame, not the fighter.”
did anyone buy that???
by O damn he got caught on Aug 28, 2009 12:29 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
With Jardine’s history you can count on one thing. If loses by anything other than decision, it’s gonna be by KO in the 1st min. If you don’t knock him out quick, your only chance is decision. Every time he’s lost it was a KO within the 1st 48 seconds or decision.
Thiago by Brutal KO, 30 seconds.

I think Jardine’s chin looked better in the rampage fight, and I feel he’ll eat a slight fury from Thiago before catching Thiago as he comes in a lil too carelessly to try and finish.
Jardine by countering then ko
by Daniel worby on Aug 28, 2009 1:04 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
It wasn’t that great, he got dropped a couple of times and in my opinion if you have a good chin then you don’t get dropped period.
This fight will either be a brutal KO win for Silva or a UD win for Jardine after he frustrates and picks apart Thiago with his leg kicks. This is a big test for Thiago and will show whether he is all hype or is a legitimate contender who just so happened to have an off-day against the best 205lb fighter in the world.

I am a fan of Jardine’s but how can Thiago be the underdog in this fight? I guess we will see on saturday.
by neeko on Aug 28, 2009 1:27 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Because he hasn’t beaten anybody and Jardine has. Very tough fight to call though.
